I completely get why Gary traded his 2 guitarists for Nuno! 🙌🏻
Thank god someone captured this. I lost all my videos from this time frame from Boston & Providence.
Nuno is off-the-charts talented. He’s EVH but with diatonic scale/ arpeggio-sweeping/ classical harmony mastery. Oh yeah he can sing and write as well.
Yeah I like him better than EVH.
Dude, he’s a fuckin’ machine. A robot…
Nuno is the father of modern rock. He, singled handed, created the transition from rock and roll to what music is today.
What’s more amazing is that, on the debut album, Mutha (like all the songs) is credited to Bettencourt/Cherone so someone definitely got stiffed there.
Never wrote a riff to even break Eddie's To[p 10, and even Nuno would concur.
New Extreme album comes out in 2023 so pumped!!!!!!
When I was a kid, these guys used to put on all ages matinee shows at the Living Room in Providence before they got signed. I got to watch these guys from five feet away like every other month for awhile. I was just starting to play in bands and it was the best education you could get. To this day, I can't think of a better live band, and I've seen pretty much everyone.
I've seen Extreme 5 times over the past 30 years, in big venues and small -- they rock the house every time. Those guys go 110% every single night
Yup. Saw them at the Living Room, many a time.. Great memories.. Glad they are Back.
I was there many times to see them there also. I always said back then they were the best local band and I knew they’d make it big. I thought they were better than a lot of bands on MTV at that time. I saw many bands there including Guns & Roses, Poison and lots more. Those were the days!!!
Ha! I remember the Living room vivid! My first show? Was Toads place in CT! (Which? Is the show Nuno talks about hearing themselves on the Radio the first time that night on the way out from CT!😊) which?! Is where I'm at/from😊 still Love EM more than ever! 2024😊
Jesus Mutha without Nuno is just wank . Amazing what a talented guitarist can do .
Absolutely
Exactly - I never realized they won this MTV comp, terrible version without Nuno.
But, respect to this "other" guitarist :) lol
The guitarist is nuno. He only had his true nose
Nuno can string unbelievable runs of notes together and unlike many others his notes are MUSICAL!!!!!
Nuno is a real composer. He can create more than a couples of chords on the spot by sure.
Jeez, what a difference a Nuno makes!
Not only Nuno, Paul and Pat also...
@@bhorozal agreed, but that guitar is so much weaker and simpler than Nuno plays, even way back then at the start.
@@dampwookie yep Nuno changed the game big time
@@bhorozal yeah he did i 💘 him so much he"s so gorgeous
I don’t think it was just Nuno. If you watch Metal Meltdown, Gary said he fired both original guitarists but reading between the lines it’s more like he fired everybody including Paul Geary but they were still friends and so when Gary hired Nuno AND Pat Paul got back in and they made an awesome band
Wow I had no idea that Nuno wasn't an original member it's crazy how different they sound without him
I agree with you, it's a huge difference.
I'm with you, the first time I found I couldn't believe it either. For years I thought Nuno created Exreme and Gary wasn't the original singer lol
@@ridehead8771 That's mad, I didn't know this until now!
Lol Gary Cherone's mom was our gym teacher in HS and on occasion Gary would fill in . The 80's were the best!
Nuno: "Ok guys, this is how it should sound like"
Enough said!
Quick fact, Nuno is actually is the music video as an extra before he joined the band at 2:22 next to the kid in the yellow shirt. Also the video was filmed in my junior high.
You can hear the strong Queen influence in the early Mutha version, the Nuno arrived and added the funk to the mix. The most underrated band in the world.
They made 2 great albums but tgen nothing. Therefore it is not "underrated".
There it is.....overuse of a word. At least you didn't add....criminally
Roth and Rose
Wow... Precious. Thank you so much for posting this!
I can't believe how Mutha is "insipid" without Nuno... But I laughed so much seeing this first video 😂
I love this band how they were and how they are now. So much talents. And I miss Paul, even if I love Kev... Well, good old days nostalgy, I guess. EXTREME for ever 🤘🤘
What you mean now? They do not exist any more. Is just a nostalgia band.
@@sinseudonimo1885 they sure do!
2 guitar players can’t compete with nuno
Thanks for standing up Nuno, you're not only an amazing player but human as well! Much respect.
Extreme as whole is one of the best bands of all times. Nuno is surely good but, all of them were great musicians from the beggining.
Wow!!! Thank you for posting this. Extreme is one of my favourite bands of all time!
This channel has the BEST Extreme stuff amazing
yesssss exactlyy 😊😊
30:16 to 35:48 is a cool piece of Extreme history
I love Gary Cherone forever
me too
Peter Hunt and Hal Lebaux. That is the answer to the trivia question "who became immediately unemployed when Nuno Bettencourt joined the band and everyone said ok let's go sell millions of records now".
the first song sounds catchy tho, just add a little NUNO touch im sure it will be a hit!
Cherone used to move like 80's Paul Stanley. I liked Tommy Shaw in the beginning.
He sure did! Must have been his idol. Now looking back at those moves they look so dorky and gayish.
And Dee Snyder
Awesome. I had never seen this before. Thanks for sharing
Mutha, don't want to go to school today good song!
More than words at 38 mins and then the N2, pre N3 and N4, superb
Man nuno had some cool style back in the old days I like when he starts playing 28:07 like if has a cool library of jam he has in his mid to play
From where did you get all this? amazing!!
This is so awesome! Thanks so much!
Extraordinary! Maaaaaaaaaaany thanks! ❤
How the fuck does he do that at 52:09? How on earth does he do that so fast? Sounds like he's sweeping. Unreal.
Cherone has some Boss hair thou.
Nuno's accent! Ha ha. So thick.
Saw them at the Park theater in Everett Mass when they were "The Dream". Gary used to work at the local mall too. I knew a girl in the crowd at the end of this vid. Supposedly it was Medford hs
Medfid? I'm not from Mass, a little North up in the mountains, but I'm proud of EXTREME. Nuno is a hero.
50:41 Man, what a guitar solo! Love the bluesy licks at 51:36, "Mutha" at 52:03, and "Kid Ego" at 1:02:55. And, 33:42 I just love Nuno's "Boston" accent that he had back then when he was younger. Seems now he's lost it (or just worked at "loosing" it). "The hodest thing is findin' a place to pa'k at those hovard ba's." LOL! But, whatever, this is a treat to watch. ;o)
Amazing guitar player all about the song and not the solo that's the important
oh man. great vids. thanks man.
Bumblebee at 52, very early With Bumblebee (Crash landing ) after! And an early solo before that he was playing in the early 90's
Thank god for Nuno!
If anyone can tell me what song they're listening to at 35:56 I'll be very impressed.
Why, that’s Rain Must Fall by Queen, taken from their then-new album The Miracle (1989)
Best channel Extreme Stuff
So great to see. I don’t know the full story of Nuno and extreme but I read that Gary and Nuno met after a gig. However did Gary have a record deal and extreme before Nuno joined ?
nuno already had the chops.
Wow! Thanks for this!
Awesome thats a real gift vor me
AWESOME!!
I like the production of the first album more than the second one.
Nuno looks like a young Johnny Thunders in the early live show footage.
Looks like he made an effort to hide behind his hair as much as possible.
I wonder if he was saving money to get his nose done & knew that they were about to hit
and didn't want it to be noticeable (totally understandable)
Somehow I think he would have been just as good-looking, but just in a more ethnic sort of way, more manly profile.
Either way, good for him & his musicianship is obviously more important.
He hid his nose,no joke i have a friend who grew up in his area he to,d me and i thought he is full of shit ,but u pay attention here u see it he was smart to get that fixed nothing to be ashamed about :)
@@scirasco1 i loved his nose :(
@@scirasco1 I do perfer the new 👃
Wait, is that true? He got a nose job 😮! When???
Way back in late 80s, literally right between Massachusetts popularity & record company interest & first bunch of press photos & video promotion.
He's beautiful either way, but gotta say that maybe if it was a little less perfect & they left some of the Bettencourt look to it, he'd be more handsome vs pretty.
But maybe because he is so little; especially at that time that maybe the nose did overwhelm his face a bit.
If you look at young videos of his brother Paul, he was a little more beefy, but still small & work like Nuno and the nose was pretty prominent on his small face as well. @@luc1f3rrr_
what a jewel❤
Love Love love
Nuno's solo at 52:03 anybody know if there are any other videos of him playing this?
Its cslled Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee,if u want to search.

@@tbomberus Hey, I meant the mutha intro solo
Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee, which is the intro to He Man Woman Hater.

Where do all those footages come from??? That's amazing!
This is an AMAZING compilation!
Hey Gary, do you want to change Two guitarrist for only one?
1:32.. impressive jump
OMG! ❤❤❤
Right ❤!
Are they saying "White people can't dance!" at 6:04 ??? 😂😂😂 I can't help but understand that!! lol
Yes oh my gosh 😂😂
Rock a bye magic
The interview at around 1h 15m was very interesting. What Show was that?
38:20 more than words
Dang they're good!
I am confused, who exactly is playing the guitar, bass guitar and drums on the first video?
Is nuno not there in thsi video?
Ah, he is!
Whats happening at 26:00? His is not playing what I hear.
yeah, you're right. He's playing smth different. That's really strange 🤔
Does anybody have a copy of Extreme Live @ Brandeis University-1986?
I've been looking for that too, the 1+ hour show on WBRS with maybe only stills, no video? I won't steal it, just want to hear it again. If I've remembered it all these years it must have been a stunner.
@@brendafoner9239 If you can find the audio.....anywhere,Please post it! ty
1:28:27 More Than Words claims the first victim
What is with the earrings Nuno... hmm
44:57 does anyone know where this version of more than words was performed and the year? i cant find it anywhere
0:14/1:44:15 to 0:17/1:44:17 "From the DREAM to change Their Name to EXTREME." It could have evolved this way: It may have been at first EX-DREAM or Ex-DREAMS to EX-STREAM (or altered from Ex-STREAMS to EXTREME): From their EX-STREAM of Consciousness of formerly being in the DREAM, by this Ex(tra beyond fuller River) Of Consciousness:-Then The STREAM that Flows to The Utter EXTREME in Band Experience: "Rivers Flowing to The SEA, onto the Oceans, and hence to the Ocean of Space! Then the definite article was dropped to make the Band name simply EXTREME!
Anyone else spot Vito Bratta in the audience? 1:29:23 That HAS to be him.
They all played the same East Coast clubs back then.
He looks like him but i guess this boy was too young to be Vito. Was this portion of the vid 1992?
That's Tommi Gallo. Drummer from another Boston band called BANG! at the time who later evolved into New York's "Spread Eagle".
definately vito , the eyes , nose & duck lips. 100% vito bratta
damn that hair Gary!
0:01 Tommy Shaw from Styx
WTF is this? I thought they were mostly childhood friends and that's how they got together. They were just a boy band from Boston. Nkotb.
So did I, I thought I'd heard that said somewhere before.
@@lorettasearcy1471 the record company and management probably came up with a back story to spin. Like the stuff playboy did for the playmates. A whole pr department part of the sales department.
@@kurtstergar1042 I wouldn't put it past them.
So who actually wrote this song?
Nunca lo había visto. En el vídeo de mutha....donde esta Nuno?
He wasn't in the band yet
That stupid masturbation song is a blatant rip-off of "cold shower" by Kix. Having said that, Extreme is the best band of all time.
I come back to listen their first album way more than Pornograffitti, just sayin' xDDDDDD (mostly because the trebly production eeew)
Without Nuno, this song is bad, even by cheesy 80’s hair metal standards.
52:05 wow
Play with me 46:10
Mutha without Nuno?
Hard pass!
I agree, sometimes 2 isn't better than 1, such as in this case.
Tahun berapa ini?
1:04:08
28:28
Before Aerosmith recorded Walk This Way, in 1954 Ray Charles recorded an R& B song by Memphis Curtis called It Should Have Been Me. It was a rap song. I’m sure there were others before Ray. Rap has been around much longer than we know. Sorry Nuno. Aerosmith wasn’t the first lol
1:18 THANK GOD NUNO DUMP THOSE EARINGS
I liked those earrings😩
He dumped the old Nose
I can't believe, "Killer Banana" only got 5 % WTF
Extreme without Nuno !? interesting
Extreme pre Nuno sucks it's just that simple!!!!!!
Why oh why didnt Killer Banana win the basement tapes over these losers?? ;-)
The cringe is strong here!
