Heart - Barracuda has a classic classic-rock galloping riff that will be forever stuck in my ear. If you just listen to the guitar it's metal. Don't pay attention to me, I'm old.
@@Lola_Santoroto say it’s more metal is the least metal thing for you to do. Trying to one up people and say on thing is better is annoying to say the least. It’s all good and it’s all metal, stop gate keeping and dividing people. People like you ruin it for new comers and make us all look bad
@@XxnatrocksxX I'm not a guitarist so I'mma take your word for it. But hell the riffs sound like a horse galloping. I mean it should probably make the list off of that alone.😅
@@XxnatrocksxXsaaaaaayyy, what? “The horsemen are drawing nearer……..Or choose your fate and die, oh , yeah!” Chunk-a-chunk-a-chunk-a-chunk-a chunk-a-chunk-a-chunk. That’s about as gallop as it gets. Have you ever ridden a horse? Have you ever seen a horse gallop, or run briskly? Have you ever seen a horse? Have you ever heard a horse’s hooves (the feet thingies) while it’s galloping? You could superimpose that sound in place of that Metallica riff, almost literally.
@@andrewhigdon8346 I play guitar my guy. A gallop is repeated triplets. The closest thing to a gallop on the four horsemen is the verses. And even then the triplets are broken apart by a strum.
I've never heard that Kreator song, and it is sick as hell! But I am also realizing that it contains no perfect 5th, that is the B notes (well, A note because of the detuning), making it technically in Locrian mode! Super rare, even in metal believe it or not!
Just listen to meshuggah and remeber - they are the one who made 7-8 string guitars popular and cool. They needed these "zeros", thats why they was going down in pitch throughout their long career...
I got to say I love the way this video is being presented. Lots of good info and the info changes quickly. Great for the way my mind works. Don’t get bored.
One of my favourite gallop moments is Pulling at Threads by Dark Fortress. It comes after the 2nd chorus. t's a sweet moment, I especially love the half-time drums underneath, very tasteful.

Great playing man! I really dig your axe. I slowed the video down to 0.75 on 'Fucking Hostile' because I realized I've been playing that fast intro/verse part wrong this whole time. I wanted to see the proper picking technique for that part and I was able to figure it out. Then I realized how cool that part sounds at 0.75 playback speed. Check it out, you'll see what I mean! 😎
Disposal Hereos was the one I used to develop my stamina as a young GenX in the early 90s, I wish I could still play it all the way through, today not a chance !!
Love the pickguard on your guitar. Not crazy about how close the pickups are together. I'm used to picking over an empty space between a pair of humbuckers. I try picking over a pickup and i end up stabbing and slashing it. Guess my technique is wrong.
Like for including Dio! And also for Metallica in their NWOBHM phase. If you do another one, add some speed/power bands like Helloween, Gamma Ray and Running Wild. They have some super fast riffs.
Jesus Christ bro great job from looking at the tab and looking at what you were doing. It was hard to tell but I didn’t see any breaks. Was that just one take?? listen to The Sentinel by Car Bomb starting at 1:08 that’s the most intricate gallop I’ve ever heard
Bleed is literally the hardest gallop picking song ever made. The technique required to get that right is not easy to train for. How long did it take you to get it right? I spent about a week and a half and watched about 10 UA-cam video tutorials on how to pick it correctly and I still barely make it halfway through the song before my pick breaks in half and my arm falls off.
Awesome mashup! One question: I see that you're using the same guitar for all the songs. How do you change tunings? Are you using a pedal or a plugin? Thanks!
I'm guessing he's pre-recorded the guitar tracks to the correct tuning, then playing the riffs out of tune but at the correct frets in front of the camera. If you've played enough, you know how to mimic your own playing on playback.
Hey, thumbs up for part 2 👍👇
Murmaider 1 and 2
Funeral Hymn by Exodus

Metal guitarists: finally, some good fckin food
Disposable heroes is just so iconic. sounds so big so intricate
try play it when you drinking;)
Battery and Disposable Heroes are absolutely crushing gallop riffs.

That song is absolutely iconic
Amen! They didn't pick it because it's Heart. But, it's beefier, more metal than about half the songs on this video.
Barracuda is absolutely considered an early metal song, same way we can retroactively see metal in Led Zeppelin 1. it's a very reasonable claim

Dime bag riffs are always so fun to play
She Wolf is an underrated tune from Megadeth!
The first time I've heard that song, it was live. Became one of my favorite songs.
The version on the rude awaking album and DVD is awesome.
How I learned.
For me it is number one
The riff:
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
ICED EARTH riffs are a killer to master!
And of course had to finish with BLEED.
You choose really the best gallop riffs! Very good! Great skill! Up the IRON’s! 🤘🤘🤘
SYL's "Detox" is pretty much all gallop, and it is beautiful
DT is my hero

Man, that's one of their best songs 🤟
Thumbs up for December flower. Such an amazing song.
The guitar solo is one of my favourites ❤
Backbone such a masterpiece. You got the end of space time by Gojira which is insane too
Dude my wrist hurts just watching you play 😂 Great selection and execution !
Can we get some more speed practice routines? I do your alternate picking one daily, it would be nice to get one for legato or fast rythm parts.
Iced Earth - The Coming Curse is my favourite for gallop riffs 🤘
Which version is better though, the original or Rippers version on vocals?
Hell yeah, Jon Schaffer is Master of galloping

So glad Mass Hypnosis was included. My favorite Sepultura song!
Personally I like inner self.
Holy Diver isn't a gallop but the rest of this is excellent. FuKn Hostile isn't a gallop either. Thank you!
great list, my favorite gallop riff is the main riff of teras - sylosis
the frayed ends of sanity pre solo riff also sounds sick ass hell 🤘

Trivium "To The Rats" & Cavalera Conspiracy "Sanctuary", Fear Factory "Slave labor". Cheers from Spokane valley Washington! 🤘🏻🇺🇲

So pleased you put Sepultura in there 😊 I’ve always been in love with ‘To The Wall’ from Schizophrenia. It’s raw AF 👊🏻

One hell of a playlist! 🤘
Very Good! I would definetly add "Aftermath" by Strapping Young Lad. The bridge riff is EPIC!!!
Great work. I choose a half of the riffs to train my right hand and my weak rythmic feeling.
I can listen to this all day long!

Great video, all god tier riffs. Meshuggah never left the 0 but still sounded the coolest!
The gojira riff was incredible!! I had not very much of respect for that band. But that riff blow me away
D.R.I. "Acid Rain" and Riot "Kings Are Falling" are two that live forever rent free in my head 🤘
Some love for Fear Factory... Thank you !
What about a top of Tremolo picking riff it would permit to bring some blackmetal stuff (and death also)
Oh I'd love that, add speed metal for tremolo to compare and contrast, like Venom or Running Wild.
1:27 The best one 🙏 Pantera forever
Megadeth Devil's Island is the clearest example
I love a good gallop. Excellent list\playthrough, brother!
i have recovered my ibanez from the attic after i saw this video! Thanks for that!
Great work put into this. Excellent!
Good list! One more I love is the open E riff on Ashes in Your Mouth.
i recommend by your command by devin townsend, the last riff is only gallops, and they are very coll. i recommend the whole song, i find it too good

Some cool BFMV's gallops are in The Last Fight and Scream Aim Fire.
Havok ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’
Would fit nicely on this list.

Fates Warning - Without a Trace
Overkill - Feel the Fire
Exodus - Parasite

August Burns Red have some crazy gallop riffs. Check out Quake, Blackwood and Generations.
I love that you apologise for wanting to play 😬🤘❤

Great selections, I woulda put some Slough Feg in though 😊
