    Hypothetical Performance Disclosure:
    Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. no representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. for example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.

    Always supper helpful content! Remember folks, orders move price. Price is the outcome. Markets are inelastic. Price may not come back to the mean, because orders might not allow that to happen, learn how to trade the DOM and you will be a better trader.

    I´m not saying that orderflow trading does not work. However, it is strange that so many people claim that it is widely used in investment banks etc. I have worked in more than one bank - also in jobs with close connections to the traders on the trading floor - and I have never seen them use the DOM. I haven´t implemented order flow trading in my trading strategy yet, but I am considering to do so. However, I have also heard from numerous people that trading with the DOM is not necessarily a gamechanger in trading - also because very often orders are cancelled

    nice one! lets say you have no idea about which instruments are correlated, where should you go to check that? thanks

      On a basic level just look for similar instruments. Like if you're trading gold you'll also want to look at similar. Other correlations you'll just find as you research about your specific market.

      There are things I see on the DOM that you can't see on bookmap, but there's nothing you can see in bookmap that you can't see on the DOM. That said bookmap does what it does very well.

    • @SpeculatorSeth
      @SpeculatorSeth  4 місяці тому +1

      I've seen depth of market referred to as level 2, but the level 2 that you get in stocks is a little different. That's more telling you what the best bid/offer from the big prime brokers are. Whereas depth of market shows you all the limit orders placed on the instrument.

    So from listen to this, is this why sellers/bears can stall or forcefully rebound the price at a resistance level multiple times just by stacking volume? If this was the case, wouldn't DOM and OF eliminate 90% of the guessing on wether a true breakout will happen by simply looking at the massive amount of volume that's just chilling at the resistance point? 🤔
    Cause if 10x $10, 15x $11, 5x $12, 8x $13, then a massive 10,000x $14 sell limits are lined up like that with only a total of some 500x market buy orders in queue. Isn't it obvious that the price will stall or drop since supply > demand, unless a massive 9.5k or more market buy orders come in?
    It's weird how I don't see many people talking about DOM and OF. They talk about supply and demand, but I never heard anyone talking about actually being able to see the OF in real-time...

    • @SpeculatorSeth
      @SpeculatorSeth  5 місяців тому

      Seeing a huge wall at a price does mean it will take more contracts to get through that price. However, you'll be stunned by how many market orders can show up to meet them and push through. The liquidity needs of the biggest players tends to be more than the available liquidity. So to make a really good prediction you still need something that tells you about what future orders will be. Then you can combine that with currently liquidity conditions to make a more precise trade setup.

      My paid indicators help in automating such analysis of the order book. However, that's more of an HFT thing, and is only going to work if you're paying for co-located servers etc. Most of us are going to go higher timeframe. Which means you'll need to combine it with discretion and other information about the market, and that's not really automatable.
