Hey Rusty, found you through your follow on Threads. Great to find another outdoor UA-camr. Looking forward to finding inspiration from your adventures! Been considering the coast to coast for a while now and this will be a great resource for me.
Hi Rusty, great video. It's good to see someone making alternative routes as AW suggested. Can I ask which route you ended up taking from Rosthwaite to Grasmere? Atb Mark.
Cheers Mark. I took the Alby Williams route via Watendlath then across to pick up the road at Wythburn. The weather was so bad I'd have probably been better off going via Lining Crag tbh. Not my fav day as I recall!
Nice little video, I'm often up Odendale it's just over the back from the house, Westmorland Dales though not Yorkshire, not even in the National Park yet lol Yorkshire Dales are miles away yet beyond Kirby Stephen, lol Although few miles and you'll be in the National Park.
@@DJVOutdoors cheers mate, I booked the hostel at Kirkby Stephen, New Ing lodge at Shap and then the Lion Inn at Blakely Ridge about 6 months before I went. The rest I winged or booked on route. Both the New Ing Lodge and Lion Inn get booked up pretty quickly. The hostel was a cheap option.
@@yorkshirewanderer6176 yeah it does seem to get really busy. I mixed it up with camping/hostels/b&bs. The Lion Inn I booked about 10 months in advance!

@@RustyOutside thanks, and yes, you did get a fair bit of the wet stuff! Look forward to part 2.

Cheers Daz, the weather got better the further away I got from the Lakes! I'm actually quite tempted to do it again next year!
I can remember it rained non stop fpr me hoing through the lakes 😂 @RustyOutside
Did you book the hostels and B&B’s hotels etc or did you wing it. Really good video I’m off for my second crossing September.

@@RustyOutside I was just going to camp at lion inn, take it you stayed in a room there?
@@DJVOutdoors yeah I did, only 1 tent in the garden as I recall.
@@RustyOutside Just seen your videos and I've noticed trying to book for next June is already becoming difficult with many places booked up already.
