- 91 year old British Grandad Joe had never had iced tea before! What else do you all recommend from your country for Grandad to try 😀 #sweeticedtea #icetea #grandadjoe #grandparents #food #cutegrandparents #oldgranddad #dinner #elderly #funny #funnygrandpa #multigenerational #british #oldfashioned #americanfood #biscuitsandgravy
Beautiful people like you two make my life better.
Hard to believe this fellow is 91!
My poppy went downhil at 90. He's a strong and lucky man
Love this Guy!
❤❤love from Texas! Iced tea is very refreshing on a hot day!!and we don't usually drink it for breakfast, love you guys!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤😊
You split the biscuits and stick a pat of butter in each one while they’re hot so that the butter soaks into the soft interior. Then you can add honey or jam inside with the melted butter. A buttered biscuit is the best thing for mopping up the yolk of a fried egg.
Oh I love this man. He is so sweet❤
Agreed with all you said. 💯 %
Never heard of honey on sausage gravy. Crushed red pepper is what I use.
Wondered about that myself. Good eye.
Think she must have been confused. People mix butter and honey as a spread alone. not in-addition-to the gravy.
generally one or the other for sure.
You don't have both on biscuits. You have butter and honey, jam if you want something sweet on them. If you want it more savory than you put sausage gravy. Not both.
Yeah…..me either. Who puts honey on biscuits and gravy but hey, if grandpa Joe wants honey, he can have it! I love this man!
I don't mean to be forward by using your first names but I must say that you, (Babs) and Grand Dad Joe have a beautiful relationship and I pray that it goes on for many years to come. I enjoy your videos, you both do a wonderful job. I am watching from the USA in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and I want to wish you Happy Holidays. Thank You. ❤😊
Her name isn't Babs.
@UnderAGlassMetropolis I'm sorry, I'm getting older and my wife says that I don't hear well. It sounds like Babs to me. If I am wrong, please let me know what her name is so I can correct my mistake. Thank you.
@@UnderAGlassMetropolis Whether it is a nickname or not, that’s what her Father calls her. So, yes it is her name.
@@kma9292You are not wrong and your message was incredibly kind❤️
@@TopoGigio555 Her name's Wendy.
Glasses😂😂😂😂.....sweet tea is a southern thing and not served with breakfast 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
You two have a wonderful day❤❤❤
He’s so happy and kind. My grandpa isn’t. 😢
Well don't worry grandad, here in the South we drink that for lunch and dinner and in between... But even for breakfast, we'll have a cup of hot tea or cup of coffee
For the bloodsuckers: make sure you drink a whole glass of water before you go. It helps plump up your veins... And include a little vitamin C everyday. It also makes your veins stronger as well... I had issues with my veins, and that's what helped me plump mine up
Good advice! Thanks from 🇨🇦 🍁 😊
I think you speak very lovingly to each other and I enjoy your clips so much. Xxxxxooooo
Grandad likes his normal tea 😂
Like me been of Irish blood we like our strong tea 😂😂
He's precious!
I'm an American and I love tea both ways. One I drink tea hot when having a cold and two when it's hot! Ice cold sweet tea with lemon hits the spot!!😊
Hey Grandpa Joe! Alabama here becoming a big fan. I'm a grandpa now, your extremely nice. I'm ornery according to the wife lol. Just found this last week an loving the channel. Some go to far on the tea just too sweet for me. But southern cuisine is great eating.
I drink just plain hot and iced tea. The only time I put anything in it ,is if I have a cold or the flu, I put a touch of honey in it. Those biscuits looked yummy 😋 😍 😜 ☺️. Have a wonderful day and enjoy 😉 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
My dad, when in a restaurant and he would often order iced tea. If the waitress asked if he would like sugar and lemon, would always reply, "I didn't order lemonade did I?"
Granddad was of course right on the hot tea in the morning. God I miss my grandparents
Oh my gosh! Grandad, I'm terribly sorry for your vein issue.
I'm only in my 50s and I have the same problem.
In January, I was hospitalized with pneumonia for two weeks and I was literally black and blue all over my hands, forearms, and even in the crook of my elbow!
And guess what??! In the end, it was a sweet and gentle young student nurse who succeeded by using a tiny needle for babies.
Sometimes our veins will roll around and not allow themselves to be pierced... 😮 You speak up at the doctor visit, and tell them to try a baby needle, so you don't get so badly bruised. I've seen your bruised hands in previous videos.
Big hugs from 🇨🇦 🍁
We love you from Murphy Farm in CB NS 🍁🫂🤗🫂🍁
No Honey On Sausage Gravy 🍯❌️
Merry Christmas
In the south there's sweet tea and then there's sweetened tea. The difference is that with sweet tea you boil the water along with the sugar making a watery simple syrup before you add the tea to brew. Sweetened tea is brewed tea with sugar added after. Surprisingly it does make a difference in the taste.
Those biscuits look like they have butter, honey and country gravy. 😮
Yeah this combo confuses and frightens me
🎄 All the best.
Hey ya'll ❤whatchamacallit having for Christmas dinner? Yes, my mom would get on to me for southern slang, but who cares❤ back home we would have ham, stuffing, mash & gravy, many sides we all brought mom & Pops did the meat and gravy we brought the sides so desserts, greens, macaroni and cheese ,rolls it was a feast. Now it's only 2 of us so he wants steak, and I got some snow crab, I'm not a big eater but I can throw down seafood.😂❤ Merry Christmas ya'll ❤ from Alabama my loves
Living in south Texas, I never drink hot drinks. It has to be freezing cold for days before I'll have hot chocolate or tea.
Grandad may like iced tea later in the day. He may like it with 1 cup of sugar when you make it. Praying for him to have a good report from the Dr's office. 🙏 Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Hello mister and Miss longue vie à vous deux 😱👏💪🤣👍🍺🐕
Love you, Grandad Joe & Babs! Happy Holidays! Be well. ❤
Hi Grandadjoe, I am in my early 50's & from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺.There is nothing wrong with being old fashioned. I like things the way they used to be. I like peach ice-tea. But during the day went it is warm outside. It is very refreshing. But for breakfast it is a hot cuppa. I am Disabled & suffer from Depression, so mornings are not my best time of day. So depending how I feel, depends on what I have to eat.
Bit of a trick for when you have blood tests. Make sure you drink enough water. And get a balloon, fill it up with some warm water & tie a knot in the end. Hold the balloon over were you would normally have blood taken. Apparently the warmth helps to distend the veins, & makes it easier to take blood. Hope you can get your glasses fixed quickly.
All my Grandparents died when I was young. And I Never knew my Mum's Mother. She got TB from a sick neighbour who would not stay home. She died when my Mum was 4. So my Mum was brought up by her Grandparents. I miss having Grandparents.
Great tip for veins! Thank you... ❤ and a 🫂 from Canada... 🇨🇦🍁
Ps... you're not alone...
I, too, live with depression and chronic disease. I started my channel to open up my world so I'm not so alone in my isolation.
I have COPD and have been In isolation since covid started. My channel has brought me much joy and friendship 💖
I wish you well... 🤗🇨🇦
Granddad is such a good sport! I don't like iced tea either, but I do enjoy a cup of hot tea.
Hi, I thought I saw a video a couple of weeks ago of him trying Iced Tea? I'm sure I did .. haha!
No... he hasn't tried it before.
Yeah, it's in the "shorts." This is a slightly longer cut...
You will make a cool of tea and add sugar, then pour over ice. Great job with the recipes I've seen you make. Sending love from San Antonio, Texas.
Im almost certain people intended that you mix honey and butter as the topping itself, not in addition to the gravy.
Never seen that. ever. Poor grandad XD.
Bless his sweet soul😊
Howdy from Eastern WA! I'm 50 and my eldest (22) is going to help look after my father later this week while my mother goes to a funeral. He's younger than Granddad here, but, Alzheimer's. It's tough but watching these videos cheers me up. Speaking of-- cheers!
Why am I drawn to this...Damn you UA-cam....now I have to subscribe..
Good Morning Grandad Joe ❤ from, São Paulo, Brasil
Joe is correct! Iced tea is enjoyed by Americans more often in the hot summer months. Some of us, myself included, love to drink it year round, however. So nice to see him try it! ❤ Cheers from Seattle!
Hello from Texas Grandpa Joe ❤
Iced tea is awesome when it's hot outside
But I drink it all year 'found
Not really for breakfast though
A trick we found is to put a tiny amount of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in the iced tea. I use 1/8 tsp for two cups of iced tea (500ml/16.9 US fl oz). The bicarb dissolves the tannins and makes the tea less astringent. You can google it for more info.
The glasses 🤣😂
Tea with sugar is popular in the South. Tea without sugar is popular in the North.
Who the heck told you we in the north don't put sugar in our tea??
We also eat BBQ and munch on pork rinds 😁
@kathyr2792 True that. I'm from North Carolina where we have some of the best barbecue in the country, but,I've eaten barbecue and drank ice tea from New Jersey and it was as good as any I've eaten and drank in the south.
I hope Grandad is keeping warm. I hear it's going to be very tough for a lot of people in the UK this winter.
Sweet tea with ice cubes is usually drank in the afternoon with lunch or evening with dinner. Mostly during summer.
Honey OR gravy... not both.
Yes I thought ewwww no that’s wrong. You eat the inside of the biscuit w gravy and the outside w butter and honey lol
Ms. Babs, You seem to have gotten the U.S. style "bizkits" down pretty good. Cheers for that 🎉
Now think of them as little brekky buns.... Breakfast Biscuit sandwiches are popular in the U.S.(McDonalds.)
Perhaps a England / U.S. fusion of biscuits with tomato and blood pudding? Biscuits with mushroom and Back Bacon?
This one's been done but Wendy is in Liverpool now so grandad joe is doing a rerun ❤
we don't drink sweet tea for breakfast. Also I'm not sure I get the joke about the biscuits and gravy. Did you put honey on the biscuits and gravy?
I think she got confused, maybe thinking biscuits always come with gravy?? I do think it would be nice to have one split biscuit with honey butter next to a different split biscuit topped with sausage gravy. Like a savory and sweet breakfast combo.
This is so cute! I'm from Pennsylvania, so I've never done the biscuits with gravy thing, and never had 'sweet tea'. From what I can find, the only difference is we add lemon and don't use baking soda.
Baking soda?
Drink a big glass of water before you go to doctors, might help the blood flow easier
I did the same thing to my glasses. I still use them hahah
I'm with Grandad a proper cup of tea. I've never liked ice tea. Ice coffee is good though.
Senin gozlugunu severim ben...
Tea in the U.S. can be radically different. The very sweet southern tea is one form. A plain ice tea is another.
As a southern American, the first time I had hot tea I thought it was awful.
Now I drink hot and iced both with abandon!
Sweet Tea is an acquired taste even in the US.😊
I'm confused is that biscuits and gravy?
Or biscuits with honey?
Surely not honey **over** biscuits and gravy? **odd look**
Biscuits and gravy I can understand. Warm hearty & delicious breakfast!
Biscuits with butter & honey I can understand. Delicious! Honey or jam goes really well on warm fresh biscuits. [Just like scones.]
But biscuits with honey ... and ... gravy? I feel something has gone sideways here, unless I'm misunderstanding what's on the plate...? Hmm... Don't know that we'd ever combine to two like that?
Anyway, hope he liked it regardless...
Maybe next up chili + cornbread? Yum!
Fresh cornbread is also delicious on its own with a bit of honey drizzled over the top. Yum!
Honey on a biscuit or half of a biscuit and gravy on the other biscuit
I agree with your dad ..iced tea is good - but not for breakfast ❤
❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Little lemon and make it sweet
Ha..ha... Honey and biscuits, yes....with gravy also, not so much. I prefer biscuits with grape jelly and butter.
I’m American, but I’ve never been a fan of iced tea. I don’t like having to add sugar to a drink to make it taste better.
You don't have to like everything. It's alright not to like iced tea, I love it, but I grew up in the American South.
Does Grandad enjoy Marmite? Any country who grew up eating Marmite had no trouble winning WWII. It made you tough!
Indian tea is so yummy
Most Americans don't know this but many of our favorite brand ice tea is actually British Tea company Lipton tea. So British tea, American style.
I don't like sweet tea. At all.
I much prefer it iced without the sugar at all. Maybe grandad would too, but I wouldn't go interfering with a good mans nice cuppa.
Will you compare our pig n a blanket for Christmas time please, ours is pretty much just a sausage roll to you guys realistically as I understand.
and the british one is wrapped in streaky bacon. which is just bacon bacon here, but thats another thing entirely.
I’m curious but has your Grandad ever had cheesecake before? If so, did he like it?
The tea was made wrong and you don't put honey on biscuits with gravy
a drizzle of honey...
Good morning grandadjoe and l have a nasty cough please replying l was woke at 12am and woke again at 6.30am then l woke again at 8.00am
Iced tea is not for breakfast.
Isn't tea like basically yals version of water 😂 how's there american tea
