Got stung by the first so bad that I was happy he swallowed the hook
Lmfao
😂😂😂
They can still wiggle out of your hand and stab the chit outta you .ask the kayak guy that got hacked
Ts ever happens he headin to da grease
2 things not mentioned were that when stung a venom from the catfish is what makes that signature painful sting and the other is that the spines are barbed along the whole spine, sorta like a saw so that when poked deep enough it holds onto you. I got pricked by a small one last night haha.
i got stung by one so bad i had to grab the fish and pull it out and then my finger swelled up for the next week
With bigger ones over 10 or 11 pounds their spines dull over time
I was 8 - 9 years old when I got stung by one. Was not pleasant. Never touched one again.
Conquer your fear man
Ouch I have too hurts very bad but I still catch ‘em
@@godisgreat5141tell me you’ve never been stung by a saltwater cat without telling me
Stepped on one when I was 15 when straight through my foot and my old man had to pull it out while I was yelling like a baby. 2-3 months later I was back in the river doing the same thing just a little freaked out lol. But don’t let it keep ya from fishing for em !
Very helpful
I just had to grab one by the mouth with my hand the other night, bit hard and I thought for a second I made a mistake but it didn't pierce enough to bleed surprisingly.
@@SilkySnow_ LOL mine don't clink like that... I like my digits hahaha
Mine bit me too I was like hey and now he’s in my freezer in fillets
Thank you, for the tutorial.💯
I paddled over and helped a guy one time bc he wasn't sure what to do. The river I kayak is FULL of catfish.
I got bit today lol.
First time.
It wasn't like the best
You can also flip them around with your hand over the back of the fish and hold them the same way, except that the back of your hand then holds against that dorsal barb and it's not swinging free. Fish like to wiggle in your hands and that's how I learned to hold any catfish.
When they're a little smaller it's easier to get your fingers around them and in between that dorsal.
@@Wired2Fish That's true. And catfish tend to be....slimey.
I use Kevlar gloves and hold them by the mouth
You need Kevlar gloves to do that? I just hold ‘em by the mouth w thumbnail blocking half the teeth
You just threw away dinner..🤨
I’d eat the fish i catch but the canal I fish at is too polluted to eat from. Maybe if I went up north away from the city I’d eat the fish i catch.
Helpfull
The only safe way to handle a catfish is with a fork. Yum.
Todd hamill hire me?
I put my thumb and middle finger across their back I’ve been stuck but it frees up your other hand
Great how about one you can't get your hand around I go up through the gill
Doesn’t sound safe for the fish, grab em by the lungs lol. You can just lip em too
@@collieer well deep frying them doesn’t sound too safe either 😅
@@collieer lol have you ever caught a 40lb+ cat fish? Let me see you lip and hold it
@@pandemicgrower4212 yeah flathead.
Fishing saltwater I had one of those barbs go through my finger all the way out the other side
Not trying to be a jerk but catfish don’t have barbs lmao bullhead do
i can say for certain they do… i got hit by one last night. didn’t feel to pleasant
Both Channel catfish and Flathead catfish have sharp barbed spines on them. One simple search will show that, and the fact that last night I got barbed in the thumb by one lmaoo. They’re good eating so I fish for them regularly.
