4d in a simple example is you and a friend on diffrent sides of a wall,now you cant see your friend or how wide the wall is but a 4th dimensional being can see both you and your friend and how wide the wall in between you is ...i hope that helped

this game actually implies not of it really being the 4th line in space but time itself being something you can perceive as much as a picture

Assuming 4th dimensional beings exist would they be able to interact with us? I mean seeing as that we as 3dimensional beings can't perceive nor comprehend anything outside those 3 dimensions then we wouldn't be able to see the hypothetical 4th dimensional beings.
My question is it possible for beings that exist on a higher dimension than ours interact with us and our world?

The 'from creation to destruction' thing is mixing up the ideas of Spatial and Temporal dimensions. Time is a temporal dimension, we have 3 spatial and one temporal in our Universe, hence the idea of 4D Space-Time.
4D Miner has four spatial and one temporal, so it's a different 'kind' of fourth dimension than the one in our universe.
With things like holography, there are also angular dimensions, because different light rays can pass through the same point in space from many different directions at the same time.
Holograms are 4D, with 2 spatial dimensions and 2 angular dimensions.
You can think of this like a window. Everything you can see through a window is ultimately just a bunch of light rays passing through the surface at different positions and angles.
If you can capture and replay all those light rays, it would look the same as if you're actually looking through a real window.
Holograms can actually go one step further. Because light travels in straight lines, they can also project objects _in front of_ the holographic surface, as long as the object is between your eyes and the surface.
Now cover the walls of a room with holographic surfaces and you can project basically anything anywhere in space as long as you don't physically block the light.
I understand 4 dimensional space mathematically. Consider a single point, which has dimension 0. If you line up an uncountably infinite number of these 0D points, you get a line, which has dimension 1. Likewise, if you place an uncountably infinite number of 1D lines next to each other, you get a plane, which has dimension 2. If you stack an uncountably infinite number of 2D planes on top of each other, you get a space, which has dimension 3. So by extension, if you put an uncountably infinite number of 3D spaces next to (inside of ?) each other, you get a 4D object, which is what this mod tries to emulate. Obviously a computer can't generate an uncountably infinite number of 3D spaces, that's why it's called uncountably infinite (larger than countably infinite), but depending on how much ram you have, it can generate a lot of them. So when you're scrolling with your wheel and seeing different evolutions of the minecraft world, that's like seeing some of the different 3D spaces that are sitting next to (inside of ?) each other in this simulation.
This is most likely the case. Though, it's fun seeing everyone in the comments think it's everything but this and have discussions on what 4D means lol.
4D Beings can just walk past the walls. The 4D extending blocks you talk about could be called Quantum reenforced because building multiple coppies of the same house across the entire 4th dimension is like extending a 2D survival game like Terraria tk 3D and rather than closing off the foreground, just building outwards across the Z axis indefinitely.

They have their own definition of "walls" also, if a 4d being ever saw a 3d human, they would be wondering "how the f*ck are they not spilling their guts on the floor? They're completely open..."
@@regisdenoir1361 I think how these D's work is a bit different, or at least for us, assuming the 4th dimension is time, that would mean we're 4D beings with 3D perception and only able to move around willingly in 3D while we (unwillingly) slide across the w axis of time.
Now if the 4th Dimension is just a new directional axis then yeah we probably look like a mutilated walking corpse to those beings...
Or like how a cartoon or portrait looks to us, completely flat in a way.
@@Solesteam Nope, I mean, yes it's true that the 4th dimension of our universe is time, but right here the game is talking about an extra spatial dimension, think about the 4th dimension as depth but in a completely different direction (and nonexistent for us) and it's just that.

Or just every dimension is a new direction, and for example, the 1D is only horizontal 2D adds the height aspect and 3D adds the width or depth aspect

@@mumenrider1908 exactly that was a rhetorical question or whatever you call it because we actually don't know but there are ways to have 3d representations of a 4d object like the 4d cube forgot what that was called as well but yep.
@@mumenrider1908 You technically can get an idea, but to visualize it you need to add a direction that doesn't exist within the 3d plane. Like for example it's impossible to recreate a 3d object in a 2d plane because it's 2d slices don't go together at all if to try to fit them in the 2d plane, but as soon as you add the depth direction, which goes outside of what 2d allows, recreating the 3d object becomes incredibly easy.

You can build two 3D walls on either side of the little house to make it truly impermeable.
It should be easy to understand the compass if you realize that your character is upright; up for you is up for the world.
The cube it shows you is a 3D cube centered on you, not 4D. These 3 dimensions are the three HORIZONTAL principle dimensions.
The 2D plane is the part of the 3D hyperplane that you can see stuff in that is at your height, i.e., perpendicular to an up vector.
It is just like the tutorial with Frank. Personally, I think it might be cool and helpful to see a little into the fourth dimension, with a kind of color change for distinction. I would love to see this game much more developed.
I think that the functionality of the compass and 4D glasses should be automatically available.
You should be able to collect items from a certain radius, even if the items are in the other dimension.

Unfortunately his analogy really got him and the comment section wrapped around this games 4th dimension being time. This however, is not the case. This game adds a fourth spacial dimension. This means you can move along the x,y,z,and w axes. There is no “time manipulation” involved in this game. If you want a proper explanation you can watch Mashpoe’s video on how he made the game.

Butter, I notice you are scrolling back AND forth after you break something to try and find the dropped item. It seems to me based on the way the game is played, your description of our perception of the 4th dimension being the creation and destruction of objects, and my own knowledge/research of the 4th dimension, that the 4th dimension is time (dimensions = x, y, z, and time).
If this is the case, I don't think you need to scroll backwards when looking for the item drop. Because you are seeing everything from creation to destruction, if you break something at a certain scroll (time) step, the item can only be broken afterwards (when you scroll forward) and the block form MUST still exist before that (scrolling backwards), as per the definition of time.
In other words, when you mine something, if you can't see it immediately, you should only need to advance time (scroll in the direction of time advancing) and should not need to scroll backwards (unless you accidentally didn't see it when you scrolled forward and advanced too much ... then you might need to scroll back ... but only to the point where you broke the block).

this makes me question: why are our brains limited to thinking in the 3rd dimension, but can still think in 2nd and 1st? when i try to imagine what the 4th dimension looks like, the most i can come up with is the player shifting through different worlds

A 2D being could see an entire 3D room by twisting around a 2D plane.

Adding objects that exist through all time would ruin the mistake and the challenge of building. I think there is a way to build a house in the fourth dimension. You just have to build it in every single plane. It takes ages and you need a lot of resources, but it can be done.

In fact, it is about 4 spatial dimensions. It is impossible to properly represent time as a 4th dimension in a game, because for that the game would need to know what you will do in the future and how you will react to your future. Let me explain 4-dimensionality to you using 4D house building with a comparison:
In a two-dimensional world, you build a house with a frame. After all, there is only up-down and left-right. As a 3D being, you can look at this 2D world from the outside, i.e. from the front. The concept of front-back only exists in worlds with at least 3 dimensions. You as a 3D being are not in the 2D house yourself, but you can touch this 2D character in its house without first having to reach through the walls of the house, which seems absurd to the 2D character because it does not understand front-back.
In order for the 2D character to protect itself from 3D access, it would have to build its house (with cubes instead of squares) in 3D around itself. For this, in its eyes, it has to build its house (the frame) several times along the 3rd dimension and completely solid at the beginning and the end, which in reality are the walls in front and back.
Building a house for a 3D character in 4 dimensions (with hypercubes instead of cubes) works the same way. At the beginning and at the end you build your "3D house" completely solid, while in between you simply build it several times along the 4th dimension, depending on how much space you want your house to have in it. This way you could also build several houses in the same place along the 4th dimension.
Seeing feels like seeing minecraft before villagers could trade. Some people might grow up playing this, which is crazy to think about

If frank would put an 2D ball in an 2D box we see the ball, frank doesnt, if we put an 3D ball in an 3D box 4d beings see it, we dont.
Also if we put a sphere through an 2D world an 2D person would see a Line growing an then shrinking again, if an 4d person puts an 4d sphere through our 3D world we would see an sphere growing and shrinking again

4D is basically the past and the future and the present at the same time, phasing through objects. You can be late to something and then just be there at the correct time. You can also basically teleport, phase through things, and control time. 4D is a confusing world and a world we will probably never understand. Think of something and it will appear. 2D charecters feel the same never gonna understand how a 3D world is concept. In there it is only up,left,right, and down. And 1D objects feel the same about 2D objects. So there could be 15D objects and we wouldn't know.

The forth dimension doesnt look to complex to my understanding.
Imagine a cube as the third dimension. Since every part of it belongs to the second dimension, the second dimension parts will become third dimension parts and they will form a forth dimension cube.
So the forth dimension tipe of cube is justo an amalgamacion of cubes. O think u people are making it to complicated

Blocks that persist when you scroll away from them (from a place other than x,z,w coords of the block) would be blocks that you see even though you aren't looking at them. Why would anyone want that? Scrolling so that a block isn't in view (or is only partially in view) is literally just looking away from it. So a block that persisted when you scrolled away from it would be like a block that persists when you look left or right which doesn't really make any sense (scrolling just makes you look ana or kata).
