This is so helpful. I ordered the service manual and plan do not use the dealership, and this is the most informative maintenance series I have found from dozens of videos.
The filming for part 3 is done, but got a lot of editing to do. Probably next weekend (July 23rd-ish) Part 3 is about an hour, it will be split into 2 videos for uploading but I plan on posting them together.
Forks take a beating on adventure riding. How often do you service the forks? Seals and fluid. I see your checklist say rebuild at 50,000. Other than that rebuild it seems like seal cleaning and fluid change might be needed.
Hi Mike, do you have answer for my Pan America problem, I check diagnosis came out like this " No response to diagnostic request, what problem do you think? Thank's for your time and your answer. Have a nice day.
I think that may deserve a trip to the dealer to investigate. Unfortunately not many options to test CAN bus communication issues without the HD service scanner, the Digital Tech 2.
No way will my dealership remove the steering damper for a inspektion..Surley under warranty you have to go to the dealership for the first 2 years ? just because of warrenty ???
Removing the steering damper before checking the steering head bearings is part of the factory service. Your dealer should be doing this each time they check the steering head bearings. In the US, you do not need to have the dealer perform the maintenance in order to keep your warranty, but they can void the warranty if an issue arises due to the lack of maintenance being done or done improperly.

New seals and fluid are part of the rebuild, but it wouldn’t hurt to do it more often with serious off roading.
Hi Mike! Could we have a copy of your checklist?
@@ridingwithraj it’s linked in the video description.
