The blood was shocking, considering the whole original game of ff7 remake didn't have a bit of blood. It kinda had me disappointed when sephiroth ran 2 people through and they didn't bleed a bit, and when jenova's blood changed from red to blue. They did this dlc pretty well.
Yeah I was so bummed. One of the reasons it was so hauntingly effective in the original was seeing the blood all over the place RED, with the excellent score. In the remake it looked like an alien blue purple slime . Wish they would change that in a future patch lol but doubt it. Were they afraid it’d push to an M rating if they did that?

I personally didn't really mind the change since Jenova's kind of an alien so logically it's not farfetched but I do agree the original showing blood smeared in the mayor's chambers was much more effective as a whole
I'm kinda hoping the inclusion of this bodes well for part 2 since this was pretty 'graphic' in comparison to the original and FF16 is going full M rating with it's blood too so here's hoping
Hopefully they’ll have more blood because seeing the ghostly dust coming out of their bodies was really weird (It also doesn’t fully show how gruesome some of the wounds are like Tifa getting slashed down by Sephiroth in Nibelheim).

I liked Yuffie in the original game, but honestly after playing Intermission, I feel that this short DLC story alone has made her way more interesting and likeable than she was in the OG. I loved this and can't wait to see her join Cloud in part 2.
She's barely a character in the OG. Like...barely. It's easy to see why this one is more likeable. There's...well...a person to like to begin with.
Like, really, Yuffie was not only optional, but REALLY easy to miss in the original. Her writing back then matched that.
This DLC didn't just improve on the original, it also established she exists. At all.
Can't wait to go circling around Junon forest again looking for random encounter with mystery ninja, lol. It took me a long time back then, almost as painful as recruiting hidden characters in Suikoden 2.
I played Intermission only recently bcus I finished FF 7 Remake on PS4, and I never thought I would get to really liking Yuffie.. I was just curious how she will meet Cloud and the others, and she's really likeable now more than I thought.. in OG FF7 she rarely talk bcus optional char, but I'm sure in Rebirth she will compete against Barret for the most talkative member of Avalanche, lol.
Her gameplay is really good and versatile, too.. if I have to choose 3 member for the party in Rebirth, she will most likely be included

Me too, and I’m guessing there is more dlc before the part 2. Imagine the part we saw cait sith? That might another dlc relate to that and might connected also with Cyd and the space project.

I'm waiting to see how they're going to nerf Yuffie. If Yuffie is put in with the rest of the cast as she is now, there'd be no reason NOT to use her.
@@dragames I could say the same about Tifa. Her stagger abilities are crazy and I’ve seen people do insane things with her like kill Weiss in like two minutes lol. I had a little trouble with Yuffie because the game won’t let you switch to Sonon. I like switching my characters around but Yuffie is a lot of fun to fight as nonetheless
@@tyleracuna2567 Tifa is all about stagger. That's all she does.
Yuffie does that and pretty much everything else. Wide area AoE attacks with pushback (Cloud) Range attacks (Barret) and magic attacks through Ninjutsu (Aerith). And she does all of these with just as much equal competency to the other group instead of just a little of all. Which is why she's going to need to be nerfed to find a spot in the party. Like a jack of all trades sort maybe.

Let’s be real, we all knew Yuffie was gonna end up on her own by the end. In the original game, when you meet her she’s alone and she’s an optional character so in a sense she’s “not canon” to the og story. This additional Yuffie episode just made Yuffie officially canon to the FF7 Story
Yuffie was made "officially canon" ages ago with the Compilation of FF7, starting with Advent Children.
Intergrade seems to be all Yuffie backstory and fleshing out her character, just like how Midgar was fleshed out in FF7R. She has always been canon though.
I can’t wait until we get to Vincent.
She was originally in the OG canon story, but later in development they made changes like they wanted to keep her 16 and with american sensibilities, they made another female adult character (Tifa). Originally Aerith was to be the childhood friend and Yuffie the Bartender/ ex-soldier child prodigy (where Cloud would find wanted fliers which were renamed into turtles paradise fliers which would dictate Yuffie's starting stats and limit breaks giving a reason to play a second time over). The reason they needed this is because the love triangle was an important angle for it so Yuffie had to be removed from that triangle.
I feel in the end it works a lot better though because Yuffie being an ex soldier wouldn't make much sense with the whole Wutai War except that shinra 'kidnaps candidates' but that would mean Yuffie would have had to fight FOR shinra as well for a period of time. plus, the whole she's an ex-soldier just like cloud would make us wonder why there's no wanted fliers for Cloud himself, just Yuffie.

I got that mofo to a sliver of hp before I game over, after that, all the built-up morale was just gone and I got killed by him while he was only in his second phase.
Decided I should stop because the first time round got me too frustrated and I can no longer focus.
Came here to see the ending to a game I'll probably never touch again since Rebirth is going to come out in a few days.

Preface this by saying I have always had an appreciation for FFVII. It was one of the largest game changers of the gaming industry. I got to play it for the first time on its release when I was 19.
Basically I was coming off the masterpieces of IV and VI. (VI indefinitely)
What they are doing here.......it is taking VII to an entirely different level I never thought possible.
One thing that comes to mind.. wouldn't sephiroth know about deepground or at least feel the presence of other OP individuals? And clash with them? It's interesting to see how they're on stand by while sephiroth is on the loose

how did Zack not notice an entire section of the city collapsed?
If you go rewatch the ending scene from the main remake one, you'll noticed Zach carrying Cloud to Midgar was like where the two timeline clashed with one another. What happened with Zach and Cloud at that time was a something in the past where it was Cloud's turning point since it was where Zach sacrificed himself to save Cloud. Zach somehow surviving changed the timeline and, as the remake hints, the timeline seems to be merging and changing with the intervention of the whispers ( The ones that also prevented Yuffie from entering 7 Heaven in this dlc despite her character saying she wants to go meet the Avalance members, also the ones that saved Berret's life and were bothering Aerith in her introduction scene). So if the timeline did merge, it would mean Zach got yeeted into the near future where, as soon as he got to sector 5 (It was sector 7 that got destroyed), he had jumped into the new timeline and did not witness the destruction of sector 7.
The only question I have rn tho is, where tf is that other Cloud Zach carried back to Midgar. Did that dude died instead of Zach or Zach just drop him off in a random clinic somewhere to go see his gf
Because this is Zack 2 from the Kingdom Hearts universe 2.567. Zack 1 knew the plate because he lived in the original PS1 universe, but he died. But now there is a Nomuresque multiverse, so Zack 2 doesn't know that section of Midgar 2.567, just like Nojima doesn't know how to write
My thoughts are that Zack arrived at the church before the plate fell (and that’s if the plate even falls in the timeline he’s in). He’s still in the past before Avalanche bombed the first reactor (at least that’s what I think).

When you are walking on the Midgar Expressway headed for Wall Market she tells you about how they are still repairing the plate. That's partially why there is trash everywhere around the church and the primary reason it has more sun than other sectors

The location end of FF7 Chapter 18 was called the "Singularity" which is an actual science term for meaning either "at all points in time at once" or "outside of time". The stuff the party did in Chapter 18 set a butterfly effect into motion by killing the whispers in the single timeline the planet has "Capital D - Destiny" (Tifa remember?) and because they were in the Singularity during it all (aka - outside of time), they were unaffected by the butterfly effect.

This is a game were characters faces literal Destiny in giant humanoid form at the end. Multiple time lines is just another subtle monday for Nomura, Nojima and Motomu

My heart broke for Sonon and Yuffie! T^T I knew, I just KNEW he was going to die. When I saw the trailer and Yuffie wailing out with the reflection of the plate falling in her eyes, I was like, she wouldn't be that distraught over just that, something else had to have happened, and I foreshadowed Sonon dying, especially since when you look at his stats and abilities, he didn't look like he was created to last a long time in the game. I hope he's with Melfie now! T^T

I wonder how she gonna react to vincent once she sees he also has other limit break forms(since she was partner with him more and dirge of cerebus which focus more on deepground. nice to see there friendship develop and follow events to end of ff7 story where they go back to midgar looking for survivors.

Flak that it deserves, padding out a game is a poor excuse to make a game longer, it’s generally bad game design.
Oh boy, I think that is the least of the concerns. The writing is abominable, the way scenes are linked together, "unknown" characters for newer audiences like Sephiroth and Zack popping in and out for no goddamn reason lol The overall writing of this game is not a complete disgrace because the localization team salvaged a lot of the dialogues, but still, we are witnessing Nomura and Nojima doing their worst to a beloved franchise

Cloud 2 and Tifa 2, yes. They come from the original PS1 universe, but now they are in the Kingdom Hearts universe alongside with Zack 3.8765 from Midgar 5.4678

I wonder why they decided to add Nero and Weiss to Yuffie’s dlc. Those two are from FFVII Dirge of Cerberus. Maybe Vincent’s chaos form has an important role to play in the next DLC or part 2 of FFVII remake.
No Yuffie was aligned with vincent at the story of dirge of cerberus intro now we just know why she has a grudge against them in THAT game,
Maybe they’ll come into play when the party returns to Midgar.
It's a shame SE decided to make Yuffie's chapter exclusive. I would've gladly bought it as DLC, but I have no intention of buying a PS5 this early in the console's generation. So I'll just watch someone else play it on UA-cam...

I have a theory that we may be seeing a convergence of Zack's altered timeline and Remake's. It's a good explanation (imo) as to why Zack finds Sector 7 residents grieving and mourning in the church (definitely post-plate drop).
Considering everything that's been going on with Sephiroth screwing the timeline, it makes sense that this would be one of the consequences of his actions. The Whispers were the ones that held the FFVII reality together but through Cloud and co., Sephiroth destroyed them for good.
Sephiroth now has free reign to do whatever he wants, but as a consequence, without the Whispers keeping reality in check, it is destabilising and with it, the very existence of the Planet is now at stake.
I think what we're seeing here with Zack finding the Sector 7 survivors in the church, is only the tip of the iceberg of what's going to happen next going forward - converging timelines that result in the FFVII reality slowly collapsing in on itself, which will become more prominent as the VII Remake series goes on.
Still though this is just a theory, so take it with a pinch of salt! 😅

So far they're doing a great job (even with those stupid Dirge of Cerberus characters) but, I'm definitely not a fan of this Kingdomheartish style of dealing with the story. Can say the same with those heartless boss like. It's not original.
Those things works on KH because the game is essentially a crossover of everything. That's not FF7: leave this confusing back and forth stuff in Traverse Town. Better go og than risking to fuck up with this game biggest virtue: the story.

Aparrently. there is a high chance genesis is one of the reason ff7 remake timeline is a mess since this is already proven to be a sequel meaning this comes after dirge of cerberus where they showed Genesis after the credits

He vanished and then went to the kingdom hearts universe. Or the kingdom hearts invaded the FF7 universe alongside with the original Shinra who teleported from the FF10 universe. There is so many multiverses, it's amazing really
I knew Sonon was gonna die, what I didn’t know was I’d feel bad about it. He was a good guy and great support character.
Unless he didn’t die and he became some sort of a deepground freak which the FFVII party will somehow undo his condition in the sequels, and ends up marrrying Yuffie in the future, and have a child named Melphie. I mean that’s such a Square thing to do.

@@Silvergrove41 actually I prefer the platonic nature of their relationship. But with all the little breadcrumbs they put in there it’s a possibilty they’re going for that route. From Godo training Sonon, to Yuffie ranting “I’m not your sister!” It would feel like Godo’s desire to keep his bloodline going through their union. Also Yuffie being a mom is funny to me, and her kid learning Brumal Form and poofing after being scolded is kinda hilarious tbh.

@@Silvergrove41 Vincent is who usually gets shipped with Yuffie, I think if anything what will happen is Vincent and Yuffie will have to free Sonon by mercy killing him in whatever DOC successor they make (probably the Vincent DLC when part 3 comes out), if Sonon comes back at all.
They might have Sonon be to Yuffie what Lucrecia is to Vincent, or Aerith to AC Cloud for that matter.
It's a great classic game.
