Cloud saying "nothing personal" to Sephiroth when using his Ascension limit is a complete and utter lie. It's been personal for him for a long time by this point.
When I used it, he used the much more thematically appropriate "Let's dance, asshole!"
He says that by default everytime he does it
No shit bruhh. He says that to every enemy you use it on. Just another reason this demake sucks ass.

People have been making this joke for over 20 years...
@@Sleepy12ftPanda They have? Don't recall many jokes about Cloud seeing ghost Aerith and thinking she's still alive and well. Do you mean the joke about giving her a phoenix down maybe?
@@KirbyIsCute Yeah that's what I meant lol
My thoughts on the ending is that there are two competing yet coexisting realities. One where Cloud saves Aerith and the other where Sephiroth kills her as intended. So, unlike something like becoming a force ghost, Aerith is neither alive or dead, she is untethered to life but not passed on. So, people's ability to perceive Aerith are either those like Cloud and Sephiroth who are aware of multiple realities, or people who are a part of the reality where she lives like Zack.
Aerith becomes the Schrödinger's cat 😂
That basically what I am thinking what might have happened.

They managed to make Cloud crazier than he is.
Cloud already like that since advent children movie btw
@@garciasth217 this is long way before advent children
He's always been crazy. There's literally a part in the original game where tifa somehow gets into his mind, which is fragmented, and helps him put the fragments together. It's just easier to show with much better graphics and voice acting.

the fact that you count how easy trophy hunting is in this hame against its score is wild. “my awesome game has too much game so now it’s trash”
I totally feel for tifa in all this because she lost like the only person that was her support about the whole Cloud situation and his mental state and now she has to deal with that alone because Barrett is not the same as Aerith
In the OG the story is written as if Yuffie is not recruited and only add extra lines for her. I hope they can put Yuna & Rikku relationship into Tifa & Yuffie relationship into next title...
Tifa was the first to welcome Yuffie, and Yuffie gets motion sickness like Cloud, so that's a start. I'm sure the writers have something in mind.
I mean she has Nanaki. Nanaki the only other person that can feel Aerith. While also telling the others Cloud will be okay. Plus now that aerith a ghost maybe Vincent can play a bigger role in the game.
@@noctisluciscaelum211 Oh they’re definitely gonna give Vincent a way bigger role. Mainly with the Deepground stuff that’ll probably kick in during the raid on Midgard
Very clever misdirection from square-enix. Cloud deflecting the blade absolutely created a diverging timeline where aerith survives. Rainbow light signifies a divergence after a breach in reality (the white light cloud walks into) is created. Sephiroth mentions that a breach will create a new world, and we get to see flashes of both the divergence where aerith is unbloody and alive and then the channel changes foricibly back to prime timeline.
Very cheeky hint from the devs that every other party member starts with a full limit break, signifying their heightened state of distress, but cloud does not. Cloud now straddles the two timelines simultaneously, first signified by the white breach of reality where he tells aerith that hes got this, and lays her down.
In the fight, sephiroth also straddles multiple converging and diverging timelines, allowing teamups with aerith and zack, as well as what happens to sephiroth in one timeline, occurs and helps out the other parties in another timeline.
Sephiroth's reaction to aerith's appearance in the space between worlds is key. He is genuinely surprised that he underestimated her. He thought he was able to successfully hunt down every version of aerith that could foil his plans but thanks to cloud, "I saw what you did back there, thank you," he did not succeed, and his grand plans are complicated once again. Not to mention the white materia now exists in this world thanks to zack timeline aerith. If sephiroth collapses all timelines into this one and summons meteor, he may be in for a rude awakening. If he is at all aware of this fact, he must alter his plans.
When the party sees a very much dead aerith, cloud crossed the breach and tells her to wake up, which she does. Cloud can see her, but no one else can. He can also see a tear in the sky, signifying a doomed timeline, but the party cannot. Remember in the doomed aerith date timeline, everyone was aware of their doom. What cloud sees is the alternate timeline he created with the breach in reality he made. He is now more than aware of multiple realities, he is stuck alternating between them as the channel forcibly changes back and forth.
This will change the dynamic in part three, where cloud is guided by tifa to heal his shattered psyche. So the cat and mouse game continues between aerith and sephiroth. Im excited to see where it all leads to in the finale!
This is an incredibly insightful read into what's happening. I also think that this switching back and forth is going to further complicate Cloud's psyche; as others have stated, Cloud simply does not think Aerith is dead. To him she is very much alive and well. We're simply leaving her behind to do important things. The mind exploration with him and Tifa is going to be incredibly interesting to see play out.
I complete agree with you. Im a disappointed FF fan who lost interest around FFX. However this game is one of the best game ive ever played. Now i think its good that they have changed things. Its much more better.
Red XIII/Nanaki can feel her though despite not being able to see her
But in OG disc 2 cloud already recovered from his memory right???
No. Disc 2 begins with the crew heading to Icicle Inn towards the northern crater, essentially right where this game ends.

Nicely sums up the complete and utter lack of emotional impact in this version.
@@SliderFury1It wouldn't have left an emotional impact on you if they kept it 1:1. There's always something people like you cry about.
You are trying to recapture a feeling you were merely told to feel sad about. NOT that you actually felt sad in the first place, assuming you ever played the original. As it was neither shocking nor unexpected. After all. The death flags were all over the place especially the last time you see Aerith before she ran off on her own to get herself killed.
For it is not sadness you are trying to recapture. It's for the shock that was never there in the first place.

I like that they just pull the rug out of Cloud and went like LOL NO. And now it's more tragic cuz he tried, won, and she still died.

Think about it. There's no way that they won't address the fact that he saved her and then we see a shift in reality happen at 2:50-2:59. The situation was altered. This will be a major plot point moving forward leaving the opportunity to save her open.
Before the shift you see rainbow coloring over the whole scene, and after the shift the rainbows are gone. They are showing us clearly that things are different than they should be.
@@PerfectEclipse I think that's Cloud already hallucinating, but I see what you mean.
@@claus_al_aerthHonestly I think people who expect Aerith to be dead and gone with no presence in part 3 will be way more surprised.
@@claus_al_aerthOf the things he is hallucinating, Aerith and fighting off Sephiroth are not among those. Aerith's a lifestream ghost now. And she even acknowledges and thanks Cloud for having tried to save her as soon as she joins the final boss fight.

Same goes for batman and joker in Arkham Knight.
Aerith take over Cloud : Get ready for the encore. Heehehehe Hahaha
56:40 is basically the plan Sephiroth had all along. He let Cloud save her for a mere fraction of a reality before the arbiters erased it. And let the worlds unite, splitting the timelines at the end. All to lead to this moment right here. What cloud sees in the sky is the universe ending from meteor.
I think that given neither Remake nor Rebirth diverged thaaaaaattt much from the OG (despite what the whiners claim), Square couldn't pretend the third game was going to be a total mystery and crazy different from the OG.
They're now confirming that the third part of FF7R will be similar to the rest of the OG FF7. The "timelines united" just means the trailers and guessing and theories we all had can come to and end as those of us who've played the OG know what to expect:
The rest of the old game albeit expanded to 40-60 hours with Don Corneo battles, some sort of show ala Andrea and Loveless, some Jenova battle(s), and another Sephiroth battle. Maybe some Aerith talking to Cloud here n there.
Arbitors are dead now. It's only the planet vs Sephiroth, and the planet is just trying to survive. Sephiroth himself probably altered time.
How does uniting the worlds split the timelines? What's the logic there?
@@mistersinister2043 for a long minute, here, I thought that it was *Genesis* who altered time which was why there are some variations in the Final Fantasy VII Remakes. But...nope. It was Sephiroth. Or, more accurately, Jenova *posing* as Sephiroth to enact her evil plans. Because, in the original game, Sephiroth won't actually be revived until Cloud places the black materia into his corpse while under hypnosis...I...guess. Undoubtedly, Jenova will be pulling Sephiroth's strings until Cloud unknowingly revives him in the Lifestream.
There's been a lot of theory on the sky being like that and in the original game when Tifa is putting Cloud's mind back together in the lifestream, it's basically the exact same sky that is shown here but only low res cause y'know PS1. There's some weird shit going on with translation too because the Japanese translated is Aerith referring to them returning to the planet while the English is stuff about a different world.

IMPORTANT DETAIL:
After sephiroth's sword sticks into the ground, and then it quickly flashes to another shot where you see the blood emerge, those 2 shots have the sword in 2 completely different positions in the ground. They change the position AND angle of the sword. I think this supports the idea that we're actually seeing 2 different timelines being created. One where she actually did survive. That theory explains why Cloud can see the tear in the sky too.
That’s right. He blocked the attack and Aerith is alive in a different world. Notice how there’s the rainbow glow at that point as well. A new world has been created.

I honestly believe they cut her full death scene with her burial for a reason.
We are so focused on Cloud and his mental state that we are obviously going to see what he currently sees.
Cody has stated he recorded the OG lines from her death “ Aerith will no longer talk, laugh, cry or… get angry “, so I believe they are saving that full scene with her burial for part.3 when Cloud finally realizes she died and that’s what will finally break him … We will see it just as Cloud will … it’s going to be a painful chapter😢
agreed, i think the first 4 chapters or so will be showing just how broken his mind is, and then cloud will find out she died during the first crater visit and we will watch him completely shatter and just decide that he is just a puppet of sephiroth but it’ll hit so much harder to have all the feels of experiencing her death at that moment
I literally went "NOT THE DAMN SONG!" After Aerith fell

@@mirzubair8291 it's never gonna happen but not because of that scene lmao
Cloud and Ichiban (Yakuza 7 and 8 main character) team up and prove to the world that schizophrenia is based, actually
So three possibilities.
A: Cloud is hallucinating Aerith
B. It’s her spirit from the Lifestream lingering to help around with only Cloud and Red XIII aware of her presence.
Or C. Cloud did save her, but whatever the timeline tried to correct itself left her seeming unable to physically interact with everyone else but Cloud thinking that she is dead.
Any of these options are not good to say the least.
Mix of B and C, with it effectively coming off as A. Aerith can have a wider awareness of her various selves, and in the Forgotten City of all places, she'd be at high power, and the death encounter was also so recent. So its like 'she' is speaking to him.
But it doesn't change how screwed up he is by everything, including this.
I mean I definitely wouldn't consider B to be a "not good" option...That's literally her role in Advent Children (helping Cloud emotionally and also single handedly curing Geostigma for everyone) and in a way OG as well (Cloud couldn't see her like he does in Advent Children but she refused to rejoin the lifestream so she could help the party and save everyone from Meteor)
B was already the original game. If you thinks That's bad, you think the ending of the OG is bad.

I'm going to agree with the OP on this one. Unlike the original, they don't have the luxury of people not knowing what will happen to Aerith. So they had to fill this remake series with all kinds of meta nonsense like whispers and playing up Cloud as an unreliable narrator to try and surprise the audience.

Well Barret is a grown man who has seen his fair share of misery. He knows that Cloud loves Aerith and even encrourages him to tell her that before its too late (Goldsaucer "date" with Barret). So he knows hes anything but fine.
Something I noticed, I think there might be two different Aeriths at the very end. When the engine backfires, her dress never moves, caits cape does, but when cloud is talking to her and the engire starts, her hair and everything is moving. Could be wrong. Interesting though.
Yea, that detail made them seem different from each other. Also, when we first see Aerith sitting next to Cloud next to the water, she appears like a shadow and there's creepy music.

I know very sad =(
24 years later, Aerith’s death still hits hard
I didn't cry in the original game when this happened, I was just in disbelief, but this time I shed tears seeing her fall into Cloud's arms. The relationship between Aerith and the rest of the party in Remake & Rebirth is very good, it's heart breaking because you literally spend a span of 2 games with her and then she's killed off
On s'attendait tous à réussir à la sauver et poursuivre l'aventure avec, mais cette fin nous ouvre plusieurs possibilités.
All the comments here are interesting. I've seen people say Nomura is at fault when he didn't even write the damn game. Hell, he wanted the Remake to be a faithful recreation of the original. I have my own theory: I don't think this is the multiverse or force ghosts, I think the most important thing at play here is the lifestream.
After talking about it with a friend, here's my thought:
Aerith is hella dead. In this timeline and the "other." But I think it's a bit more than just the multiverse. Everything is connected to the lifestream. It's how Zack is able to interfere in Cloud's fight and its where he goes at the end. Multiple worlds is all based on the lifestream, its why Aerith, Biggs, and Zack, people who should be dead, are able to interfere. It's basically Advent Children. Cloud has completely lost his mind and because of a number of influences, maybe even because he still has the black material on him, he thinks Aerith is fine. The water burial happened, Cloud said his famous lines to Aerith about how she can't "cry or smile anymore." But Cloud has blocked it out because he, like the audience, can't accept Aerith's death. In the Temple, everyone went through a trial to prepare them for accepting loss...Everyone except for Cloud. When the Northern Cave sequence happens, Cloud is going to be broken even more, not just by realizing that he's not a SOLDIER but by the fact that Aerith has been dead for ages. And when that moment happens, we'll see Aerith's death in its true form: Cloud's last words to her and the water burial. Aerith's death, the tragedy, its still intact. It's just been repurposed slightly to further drive Cloud insane.
It's why this exchange in the final boss is so interesting:
"So what do you make of all this Cloud? Is this real or a fever dream?"
"Cut it out! That shit won't work on me...not anymore!"
And Sephiroth laughs. Because it already is working on him, even now.
Sorry that was a lot, but those are my two cents.
Same thoughts. During Zack and Bigg's conversation, the only thought I have is that they are in the lifestream.
Literally someone gets it. Now only time will tell if the devs are actually making it as we interpret. Or they just don’t know what THE FUCK THEY DOING
@@BrooklynStarFTLK so here’s the thing, everything I’m saying could be conjecture. But everything in Rebirth suggests that the developers do understand what they are doing. The game still talks about death and living with grief. Aerith literally talks about how “life and death are two sides of the same coin” and how we can’t ruminate on the past and that we must instead look forward. It is almost exactly the same meaning and thesis of the original final fantasy vii. What they’re doing now is enhancing that by adding in a character who, like the audience in 1997, can’t accept that grief; Cloud.
Only time will tell if they know what they’re doing, but after playing Rebirth, I am confident that they get it.
Regardless, we can debate on the multiverse and alternate timelines and whether or not Zack is alive or not
Aerith is dead, and like in the original, cloud failed to save her. Only this time, he refuses to accept it.
Idk about you, but that is a great enhancement to an already dark and sad storyline
@@thrillsekr2606
I believe you might be onto something here. When we look at how the lifestream is portrayed, it's not too dissimilar from the concept of parallel timelines or universes. However, unlike what we traditionally think of as a "true" parallel universe where there are infinite variations of everything, these parallel worlds exist more on a spiritual level, personalized to individuals.
This explains why certain choices appear to spawn new worlds while others don't. There's essentially one tangible physical universe, and all the other variations occur within the overarching lifestream.
Adding to that, the developers this time around have made Sephiroth very much aware of how the lifestream operates. Sephiroth, much like in the original game attempts to manipulate Cloud, this time even further by exploiting the mechanics of the lifestream and its interactions.
@@lm6036 mhm, exactly! Sephiroth is clearly able to pull from the future, hence the final boss in both Rebirth and Remake. If anything, in rebirth, he’s able to pull more. It’s all because the livestream is bleeding into the real world, hence the tear at the end (fun fact, watch the life stream sequence from the original game, where Tifa is fixing cloud’s mind. If you look in the background, you might see a familiar tear.)
Whether or not Zack is in a form of lifestream purgatory or another timeline (I personally think it’s the former) is irrelevant. It’s all different iterations, probabilities, of the world the game takes place in. It’s not a separate world, it’s all the same place. It’s why aerith’s dream is the same as the world we see Zack in. It’s why Aerith and Zack are able to communicate.
And that’s what Sephiroth wants: obtain the black materia, summon meteor, break the lifestream, and become the ultimate god just like his “mother.”
It’s the exact same motive as the original.
If you really think about it, the story is the same as the original. It’s just expanded.
I really think that Aerith is now being both dead and alive at the same time due to cross-over of timelines, just like Biggs cross-overed to Zack's timeline. The hint was that Biggs told Zack that Cloud was a Mercenary when during that time Cloud was still not the "Soldier Cloud" and was still at Zack's side. Biggs even felt that his internal clock was messed up and its due to him cross-overed to another timeline and arrived at a different point of time. Another hint was Sephiroth saying he underestimated Aerith. I think Sephiroth was referring to Aerith crossing over timelines. I think the only people who knows about these timelines are Aerith, Sephiroth and Cloud thats why only Cloud and Sephiroth can see Aerith and also Zack. So I really dont think Cloud is having a mental breakdown during this time, but instead will have a mental breakdown later on part 3 because Sephiroth will take advantage of the fact that only Cloud can see Aeirth and so Sephiroth will now make it that its as if Cloud is getting crazy when in fact Cloud isnt and will deceive everyone.
What baffles me is that the game shows you what you have to see and people are still in denial thinking Cloud is crazy or in denial. It's perfectly obvious the timeline splitting that happened in the Terrier world has happened in the Beagle world too and we're seeing Cloud existing between said worlds at the same time somehow like Sephiroth can.
The rainbow effects
The flow of green energy when you deflect the sword that's similar to the timeline splitting that happens at the ending of Remake when we see the Whisper tornado destroying two worlds at the same time.
The glitching between worlds at the ending scene one where Aerith is dead and one where she is alive (look at the rainbows and her body stance while she lies down and Cloud tells her to wake up).
The white materia that Cloud has shows you clearly two worlds split by a vertical line.
The life stream has been clearly depicted in Rebirth and looks nothing like the white space between worlds the last Aerith comes from. Also we clearly see people from the lifestream are depicted with a green hue something neither Zack or Aerith have.
Red XIII senses Aerith with her touch the same way Aerith sensed Zack's touch in the Cave Of The GI
Sephiroth knows Aerith should have died but she didn't that's why he tells her part has been played.
The crack in the sky is seen only by Cloud and Aerith at the end meaning only those who have crossed the Whisper barrier in the city of the ancients exist between both worlds. We also see the exact effect seen in the Biggs dies timeline scene when Cloud enters the City Of The Ancients signifying his entrance to the split timelines. And the green energy seen when he deflects Masamune signifies that he is changing things in the other world just like the Tornado did in the ending of Remake.
The Aerith that talks to Cloud has the same effects seen when Zack touches Aerith in Terrier and Aerith senses him in Beagle.
Those are just a few of the hints we have in this game that contradict Cloud being in denial or having PTSD break downs and almost prove that Aerith is alive by the end in another world, just like Zack was at the ending of Remake.
And as a bonus tip from me. Zack is in the Aerith lives world at the end church scene and will find Cloud and Co at the church of Beagle again in a scene similar to Advent Children. They might also retcon the film and make it as if the Aerith and Zack we see there are alternate world counterparts and not from the lifestream
Also a tip on how the world work in this game. This is not MARVEL where multiple Spider-mans exists with their own consciousnesses and personalities. This is the OG planet that somehow was divided into sub worlds. That means every world has the same character with the same consciousness. It's as if Tom Holland exists into multiple worlds where everyone gets their memories from somewhere (probably life stream) and has them across worlds. That's why once Zack enters Terrier with his Cloud the previous Cloud gets erased because he has taken his place. That's why the Ultimania for Remake said two Cloud's can't coexist in the same world because once you enter a world you replace your self in that world.
I wonder if that "Aerith" by the lake is actually Jenova, since Cloud only sees her after he starts glitching. It seems like the glitches are correlated to Jenova cells influencing him. Even with Sephiroth in the mansion... when Cloud grabbed Sephiroth's hand, Sephiroth also started glitching with images of Jenova before tossing him. I don't think this is as it appears...
The only smart person in these comments.
Congratulations for being the sanest FVII fans on UA-cam's comment.
I don't think so because the glitch appear when Glenn turn in to sephiroth
Cloud does not have the white materia, as it was lost in the water when she was stabbed. Same as the original. In the ending, he puts the white materia in his pocket, and is shocked to see the black materia, which he was probably holding (he's imagining he was holding the white.)
And he cried when she was stabbed.
Which means Aerith probably did die and his mental illness is acting up again. He really should get some meds for it.
There MAY be some alt timeline/spirit world where she survives but, imo, she's dead in this timeline.
Like Gamora died in the MCU, but they stole another Gamora from another timeline, so there's always going to be a missing Gamora somewhere.
IMO, the final ending will prob end up like Advent Children with Zack and Aerith walking away together in the spirit world.
Yea this ties up everything from crisis core and advent children
In one world he has White, in another he has Black, he is between worlds and all it takes is Jenova taps for him to lean his actions toward Black.
Sephiroth is just arranging all the pieces (people, powers, nations, magic) into one world he wants to use for everything. Cloud is just the prime agent for this, even as Lifestream Aerith is resisting this (to the point of stepping out to fight at the Edge of Creation realm).
@@SwobyJ I swear Sephiroth must know something about Cloud that WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT, if not then why is he so obsessed with him being by his side, why is he protecting Cloud so much saying that they will rule together, he even said in Rebirth in a cutscene that Cloud will eventually lose everything and destroy the world like he did before...Sephiroth true intention are so mysterious I can't wait for the 3rd game !
Play Kingdom Hearts 3 and everything will be explained there. Death doesn’t really happen the same way in Nomura’s projects if you haven’t noticed. Nomura has a weird plot device which conflates the concepts of death, dreaming, sleep, and alternate realities.
@@LeondreWilsono0onah let’s not hop on Nomura here. He literally says that he wants death to be important in FF7R and to not be trivial where someone seems to have either survived or not. He’s an OG purist and doesn’t want to diverge too much from it, this is more in-line with like Kitase’s writing
interesting and all, but the original where just as she dies her theme plays AND continues to play through the Jenova fight packs a bigger impact for me, I guess it feels more real, when someone dies it feels sad but it also feels weird, and its weird fighting a giant mutant monster thing while a very slow piano ballad plays, you usually dont expect that, you're not ready for that, just like you're never ready enough for the death of a loved one
Regarding Aerith, i wonder if the fact that Cloud can see her, it can implies two possibles theories:
- Aerith is actually a hallucination of Cloud, much like the Joker in Arkham Knight that is a hallucination of Batman.
- Aerith become like a Force ghost, making her capable to reveals herself to some people that she chooses, like Cloud.
The first one. Aerith is now a ghost from the lifestream, at this point.

WAIT I JUST REALIZED. WHAT IF CLOUD ACTUALLY DID BLOCK THE ATTACK BUT AERITH IN ZACK’S TIMELINE WOKE UP???? Marlene said that if Aerith in Zack’s timeline woke up, she’d die to Sephiroth. What if the Aerith in Zack’s timeline woke up right after Cloud blocked the attack, which caused Cloud’s block to be overwritten and created a timeline paradox where Aerith is in between Zack and Cloud’s timelines, as a force ghost sort of thing? Cloud can only see her in this state because of the extensive amount of mako inside of him and his awareness of multiple timelines (not to mention his frequent visions). Would Zack end up the same way? Would the Aerith in his timeline be a force ghost like the one in Cloud’s timeline? Because when the timeline merged during the final fight, Aerith was physically there, fighting alongside Cloud. But when the timeline came back to normal, she became a force ghost. And before the group saw Aerith, Cloud, and Sephiroth, Aerith’s body was still moving because her spirit wouldn’t have entirely left her body until Cloud laid her down. But only Cloud could see Aerith still awake and talking to him because of his connection through the mako. It wasn’t until after the fight that Aerith’s force ghost appears.
We'll know in 5 years when FF7 Disc of Depression comes out!

I always knew that Red XIII was an adolescent but I would have never machined his true voice to sounds like that.
It’s revealed in Cosmo Canyon that he was putting on a voice so that the party would treat him equally. And both his voices are voiced by the same VA Max Mittelman.
Pacing of the scene is a bit off. The ghosts and rapid cuts pull from the emotional energy of Aerith's passing.
I think thats the point we are experiencing aerith's death from cloud's perspective as he's having a psychotic breakdown
@@estaveler3288True. I think a lot of people sre being too harsh. Not referring to the original comment from Paxton. But the og and remake trilogy co-exist together! It's a new direction, plus we will probably get the real scene in part 3
I absolutely love Remake but Rebirth for whatever reason just didn't scratch the same itch. To me, the music wasn't as good, the crap lighting on the faces in graphics mode has been a pain, and the throwaway parts for Zach and Bigger were kinda meh.
Aerith's scene also lost all emotional hold that the OG one had, for me. They started pushing that nostalgia button and then stopped and then rushed into a brutal, long final boss battle that sacrificed what little emotion could've been there with her death (I mean, she keeps coming back).
I love Aerith but I hope they do with her what they did with Sephiroth in Rebirth: Keep her screentime to nil and only mention her by name instead of showing her.
Also hope the music in the last FF7R gets better. For me, the difference between Remake and Rebirth were like The Matrix 1 and 2 or Westworld season one and two. All still great but heavily lacking in most areas, for me, that made the original so incredibly awesome. 😢
I think the "emotional" scene was the trial at Temple of the Ancients. This was meant to be a very different take. Once you really understand that Cloud has been thoroughly fucked with, it makes more sense.
@@estaveler3288 They're just always trying to do too much in each scene. They were on track with Red honoring his father at Cosmo Canyon, then the dumb Gi ghost shows up immediately after and ruins the scene completely. The devs are entirely unable to let scenes breathe.

Well, this proves how much effective is this scene, in emotional terms, as it can break our hearts again, even after decades.
RIP Aerith 😢

@@shigerumiyamoto9612same.. in OG it's just brutal. Cloud's monologue is amazing. But most important... all the whisper thing in Part 1 is just useless. Everything is going in the same way as original game.
hard to find it sad when there's camera cuts happening every 3 seconds and then there's a bombastic fight with people making happy go getter barks about fighting
Tifa weeping and Nanaki leaning against her to comfort her just got me crying all over again.
The constant bait and switch of “is she or isn’t she dead?” throughout the ending was cruel. It played with my feelings. Man, I feel so down after finishing this game. I miss her all over again.
“Goodbye”
Thats how i felt too.
From what I understand there is:
- The Original timeline - where Aerith dies
- The Rebirth timeline - where Aerith lives
- The Doomed timelines and all the Doomed timeline splits - where Zack lives (And where Cloud and Aerith date) but no matter what decision Zack makes, he eventually dies, except for the Zack that was thrown into another dimension. I also think Zack has been thrown into the Rebirth timeline by Aerith/the lifestream as this is a timeline where "fate" hasn't been written yet and the world has a chance of surviving with his help.
I think Rebirth Aerith switched the Rebirth Cloud and the OG Cloud so Rebirth Cloud is not upset while the rest of the OG FF7 team are in mourning, as Rebirth Cloud knows he's saved her in the Rebirth timeline and is able to communicate with her through the lifestream. Not exactly sure why Aerith would make the switch, but yeah that's my theory. Only he can see the crack in the sky in the end as he's not of that dimension. That's why straight after the switch, Sephiroth says "So it begins, a confluence of Worlds". In the 3rd game you'll play as Rebirth Cloud in the Original timeline until he's chucked into the lifestream again where his mind is set straight and everyone becomes aware of the multiple universes. I think you'll play as Zack in the Rebirth timeline.
Could either be the above or Clouds mind fracturing further or a bit of both lol
The fact that they completely fragmented Cloud's mind throughout this game shows just how much the mako poisoning is destroying Cloud. It's definitely going to make the events of the third game so much harder.

I may have figured it out. They wanted to do a remake, but realized it was too big to do all at once. So they said let’s split it up. Then an exec said well why would they buy the other parts if they know what happens. Nomura: “what if they didn’t”
I think it was more like:
- Let's do a ff7 remake.
- Holy shiet we're really doing it?! The most popular game we ever made?!? Fans are gonna go crazy!
- I know, in fact I'm thinking we should split it into parts and sell each at full price.
- W...wait what?
-Think about it, development is expensive, we can ride this rollercoaster for years and make more money that way, investors are really thrilled about it.
- Uh...okay, I think there'll be some pushback about that but we can make it up by remaking the original the way the fans wanted it.
- No that's too boring, we should add a spin to it and add multiple timelines.
- Uh...I'm pretty sure the fans just asked for a faithful remake, never heard anyone say the plot needed time travel.
- It's okay we just won't mention it in marketing. Plus who's gonna buy this game if it has the same old story? It won't sell otherwise.
- Huh...how many times have we rereleased ff7 again?
- We need to think bigger, ff7 was only 40 hours long, that's too short to make a full trilogy.
- Then maybe we shouldn't...
- Nonsense, just take the events of the original and add filler before and after every event, we'll bump up the enemies hp a bit and make them go through the same areas multiple times, then when they get to the end MINDFUCK lolol, that should get them excited.
- It just gonna feel like dragged out nonsense.
- Listen, I made kingdom hearts son, it totally works, trust me. We're spending 12 years on this, they will be THRILLED.

@@frankboozemanlil guy the remake was 100% necessary.
@@TigraSpartan It didn't need to be a convoluted mess though. This game is at its best when it's being faithful or deepening the characters and world building. But when it plays with timelines, whispers, etc..., it's a complete mess.
It's well documented that Nomura is pretty much the only one who wanted to stick to the source material and everyone else wanted to make a whole new continuity
Well they did it. They kingdom heartsed final fantasy 7. I have no idea what is going on
Remember when Sephiroth took control of Cloud’s mind he and Aerith fell and they where both knocked out. Everything that happened in chapter 14 never happened because Cloud was knocked out cold from the fall. When he wakes up, everyone is looking for Aerith. Cloud tells Tifa about different world and she looked concerned. They just wanted to show how messed up Clouds mind is. In game 3, Tifa will repair his mind and Cloud will know the truth that Aerith is dead.
Fits the game, honestly. No one had any idea what was going on when we first played the OG with all those versions of the same scene until we found out Cloud was just completely fucked up. But people seem to forget how convoluted the OG really was for the time.
You'd think theyd come up with a better design for the whisper things, seeing as how they now rock up in every major seen from the og....they look like the last roll of toilet paper
Yeah idk, they do look weird maybe because it's hard to show some sort of ghost transparent floating creature in a video game.
Literally such a dumb decision to even put those things in these games

Dude, this game is so good! But I see so many people hating on it! I don’t see why and it really annoys the hell outta me. It annoys me that a lot of people aren’t even real gamers and just play to be part of the hype of gaming. Always complaining about little ass things that aren’t even that much of a problem. Small rant, sorry.
It’s because they wanted to experience the same emotions they felt playing the original when they were children lol
Try to find ways to control that, caring about other peoples opinions on video games are pointless, if you like it, you like it, there's always going to be someone who hates somthing you enjoy.
I mean i loved the game but it's far from perfect and this video shows it, not every criticism you see online is hate and also try to not care that much if you like it then good, that's the end of it
Tifa is gonna play a huge part in chapter 3. Can definitely see another intimate moment between them. She is pretty much the one person who can snap him out of it. I just hope he wakes tf up and actually gets with her
I would be really happy if it turned out that all the remake's shenanigans and absurd awful changes were just Cloud going full psychotic the whole time and distorting his perceptions and memories to the point he believed he defeated fate in the first game and saved Aerith in the second.
It would absolutely make sense considering the state of its mind.
And it would succesfully recreate the shock the players had the first time they discovered his past was all a delusion he had after a traumatic event in the original game.
I mean...it's not like he didn't come up with a totally bullshit past after a trauma...before.
The fact that he seems to remember future events since the beginning would be easily explained as a distortion of his own memories we've been playing in real time all along.
I honestly don't think the developers will be this clever.
The multiverse story would have worked better with FF 8, honestly. If you know, you know. As for FF 7, I actually agree - Cloud's psychosis would make sense in this case; as in, there aren't multiple worlds, it's just Cloud's broken mind. Then the revelation, once his mind is repaired like in the OG (they're definitely setting up this scene, at least). Or - everything up until part 3 are Cloud's delusions when he's mako poisoned and catatonic, hahah. Still, somehow I doubt that's the direction they're going with, we'll see.
The OG was a better story and atmosphere.
Wouldn't work anyway due to Remake's ending and Aerith actively stating she knows the future to all the characters blah blah blah
@@zbgb4339 Yeah.
I simply can't fathom how some of the people who wrote the original can't grasp the basics of their own work and constantly diminish the final product in this new rendition.
Really, it seems like they really got lucky with the original FF7.
Probably it was simply that the team really needed Sakaguchi to filter their ideas.
I would like this
And now the community is split in half. Some of us want Aerith to live, while the others neglect the idea that Cloud has, indeed, successfully saved her somehow.
Multiple truths, I think.
A. Cloud has yet to realize him and Zacks roles in the demo were reversed. Along with the experimentation; resolving the black robe plot point.
B. Zack jumping around creating different worlds and new possibilities. So in comes Cloud who saves Aerith creating a new world.
C. The Rebirth path where Aerith is not saved.
Now I think I understand what Sephiroths actually goal is. One single world where he summons Meteor and wins. A single world where there is only him or only Jenova. As opposed to Aeriths goal of saving the world, saving Cloud, and wanting to remain in her current ethereal form. As opposed to the planet that wants Aeriths death and ultimately the end of humanity 500 years later that is the bad ending that was ogFF7. OgAerith and OgSephiroth both using the planet/Lifestream/Arbiters/whispers to jump between worlds, create new realities, and find an outcome desirable. Sephiroth, Gaia/Minerva(?), Aerith.
Just an aside, but Aerith is always quick to mention that nor everyone in Shinra(humanity) is bad. (Planets perspective)
Also, check Barrets pov when the party runs up to the altar. His poverty is similar to Tifas' with the switching back and forth. More apparent in Tifa's pov.
the way they use Aerith's theme during Jenova's fight makes me feel like Aerith is guiding and praying for her friends. i'm so emotional rewatching this

I think at the end, we're still looking at the two realities between, where aerith did and didnt die. The first half is the reality where Aerith's dead, and the second with cloud and aerith talking, is where she's alive and she is actually choosing to stay in the ancient city to conjure holy.
I'm so sure that the only person in the entire world who could actually write something so convoluted without sacrificing any immersion, emotional impact, and overall sense of realism, despite the strong fantasy setting, was Kentaro Miura.
Crazy how in FF 16 and Rebirth, the ending scenes take the graphics to the next level.
I think Aerith is alive in another world, Red XIII could feel her. What's interesting about this ending is that it can mean 2 different things; Either Cloud is hallucinating Aerith after her death (although there's more evidence that supports the latter) or Aerith is communicating with Cloud after death just like Sephiroth has been doing.

4 timelines:
OG 7 where it ends with Advent Children
Remake (this one) where Aerith still died but Cloud broke the reality barrier and his mental sanity even more
Timeline 3 where Aerith did survive, but is left unknown because the whispers brought us back to Remake timeline
And Zack's timeline where he's trying to save Aerith and Cloud from their coma.
Part 3 is going to give us the ending of Zack and Remake Cloud and we could have references to Advent Children along the way
we could only end up w 1 ending in the last part if the worlds converge into one
I looked up a lot of data and there seem to be several main points on why Aerith alive. "Short" point-like form (best I could and properly still explain) is basically this, dogs indicating timelines, homecoming references by both Aerith and Sephiroth meaning reunion of timelines (essentially all timelines merging with lifestream to be one), Aerith pushing cloud to new timeline at Church and Sephiroth able to do same to Zack, Aerith guiding Zack to battle against Sephiroth, Aerith thanking Cloud after he "saved" her during sword clash with Sephiroth, Cloud and Aerith date and Sephiroth saying he found where she is hiding (a universe that's accepted it's fate), Aerith saying she'll be okay to come back at end scene to Cloud and her saying like a second home (parallel universe likely), Red senses her presence (indicates real Aerith) when she touches him by plane during end cutscene, Cloud seeing her and also seeing crack just like date universe indicating she hiding other universe once again, reunion meaning timelines merging by Sephiroth statement but also implies reunion of all characters (Zack, Biggs, Jessie, Aerith, etc.) which almost guaranteed third part title, rainbow colors (indicates timeline shift) when she was saved and white whispers floating around her when Cloud approaches her body (white whispers work for planet/Aerith), her opening eyes/no blood/different body positions and raising hand, Zack saying the worlds could reunite again, Cloud passed whisper wall to enter Sanctuary where Aerith prayed and other comrades didn't so he created timeline change so he is able to see the saved Aerith but others can't because they stayed behind to open passage for him (except Tifa who bathed in lifestream earlier and sees flash of Aeriths survival), Aerith likely staying down despite not being stabbed in "eye-open/saved" universe to transfer her consciousness to another world to help Cloud/change timeline to hide from Sephiroth like she did in date universe, Cloud crying and not crying between flashes after Aerith stabbed/not stabbed, Cloud talking in one moment while holding Aerith then not in another (Original game scene going in and out), black materia and clear pray materia ending up in his pocket at end (clear one was giving to him after transferring white materia from one Aerith to another Aerith) director hoping to give happy ending with twist, etc....
All in all, timelines going to merge like Sephiroth plans and he will win up to that point likely but lifestream is going to fight back with Aeriths assistance and rest of alive/currently deceased cast to fight back against Sephiroth and save lifestream (this means likely everyone, Marlene's dad, Barret's wife, maybe even Tifa's dad, etc.) Everyone will be alive for a time period, who stays alive we will see, hopefully the main ones at least. Hopefully multiple love endings for Cloud as option with one more lore-wise the favored one. Probably a Zack/Aerith ending and TIfa/Cloud one but hopefully Cloud/Aerith one occurs too. Maybe less concrete on relationship but happy at least I believe.
Note: The lifestream is creating a self-contained multiverse that depends on the lifestream but likely not a full on multiverse independent of lifestream, just one that is self-contained and may even be an effect of Sephiroth's inability to merge with it after death of first game (since he aware of it) setting off the "Lifestream-multiverse" to begin with, all these different fates an attempt of Sephiroth to win and the lifestream to correct/fight against Sephiroth's tampering.
Long but kept as concise could. I am looking forward to Aerith coming back to cast pray like she said she would at end.
I shall repeat what i said years ago for FF7R, this remake is a stupid and retarded mess.
If they wanted soooo hard to make a different plot, who not simply go all the way and do it, instead of this half assed "things change, but things don't, except that TIMELINES, and RETCON GHOSTS, and sephiroth knows!!!!"
Even capcom was more honest with the resident evil remakes, and explicitly mentioned them being alternate takes that aren't part of the mainline canon but still adds extra details to the lore.
I think it was a creative way to remake the og while keeping surprises in store for long time players. I think it's confusing on purpose because they want you to be going "wtf is going on" but have it all come together in the 3rd act.
@@solarcry287 My point is that what they do is very dishonest.
FF7R cannot decide if it is a remake (same stuff but expanded, maybe re-arranged but very much the same thing) or a reboot (same core concept, but that is all that is shared and is taken to a different direction) and tries to both have the cake and eat it at the same time.
People who plays a remake, do it because they want a modernized version of something they enjoyed. People who play a reboot, do it because they want to see an old concept reimagined into something new.
FF7R betrays both groups by doing a half-assed in-between.
@@solarcry287 There was already surprises even without these dumb ghosts and timelines.
Holy that final battle took forever. And you can’t even save it half way through.
Honestly, I really REALLY dislike the story of FF7R so far. All of the smaller good aspects get ruined by the more drastic changes to the story they made just for the sake of being different. I don't want to call Nojima a hack, but I mean... The guy's writing can be pretty god awful at times.
Just take a look at the novel "Final Fantasy X-2.5" written by him which features Tidus kicking a blitzball which is actually a bomb in disguise, then he dies, but he is "beckoned" by Yuna from the farplane and is revived, but he's not the same "Tidus" anymore apparently. There's a lot of other stuff in that novel that is just outright bad, but that's basically the key aspects of X-2.5. There's also FFX - Will - which was also written by Nojima which features Sin coming back.
Nojima is best when he's NOT in charge of writing or when someone is reeling him back heavily and keeping him in check constantly, which it seems like they decided not to do for the remake after awhile if some of the interviews are anything to go by. I don't want to just bash the guy too hard, but... The story is completely off the rails and not in a good way, which is something I've thought with a lot of the games he's been in charge of writing or other stories he's written that I've read (or in the case of -Will-, listened to).
Vincent: “Sorry guys, I can’t do shit till Part 3 comes out in a few years.”
Ok, this is why they should have never put the guy who writes Kingdom Hearts 3 in charge of this project.
Sorry, but this is so stupidly convoluted it's absurd.
He didn’t even write this?!
Nomura fought to keep things faithful to the original actually, he's said it in interviews. Everyone else on the team wanted it to be crazy and subvert expectations and be different for some reason.
The story is the main reason why everybody loves the original. I don't understand who asked for whatever this convoluted mess is.
Nomura didn’t write remake he was the director. The writer of Remake co-wrote the original and Crisis Core. He wrote KH1/2 but he didn’t do KH3.
@@arsene3155 If he is a director he is directly responsible for what does or doesn't make it into the game.
Jenova lifeclinger fight-perfect
Cloud and Zack teaming up-perfect
Everything else including the story-uhhhhhhhh
While everyone is angry over Aerith death, on 56:26 is that white materia cloud holding, also on 56:40 is that the black materia? Btw never play ff7 so not sure
In the original, Cloud only had the black materia. In this one, it plays out different. He either has the black materia and believes it to be the holy materia. Or like the OG, Jenova is giving him these illusions and he believes what he sees is real. Nomura being Creative Director really makes things different from the OG.
No promises await at journey's end:
Cloud-san:
- Promised to rescue Tifa when she's in trouble: stabbed her to the lifestream
- Promised to save Aerith: got impaled
- Promised to return the black materia to the Gi: like hell he will
- Promised Aerith to defeat Seph: revive Seph
