I mean... For a dev job, this seems like a pretty decent place to work with a good amount of perks and freedom, not sure why you're hating on it so much. Obviously having your own indie game company and working from home is better, but as far as jobs go, this one seems to be really good.
Coding works in latinoamerica. Start coding 8:00 am keep coding until 7:00 pm no breaks just Lunch time which probably you gonna take in your desk because you have 3 deadlines near. Food, drinks comes from your salary which is low for the work you do.
- takes 40 minutes to go to work and doesn’t have time to change clothes.... that’s how many places are. He could probably bring clothes and leave earlier if he cared about being wet. Normal job stuff. - can’t play video games whenever he wants... so weird, I thought that’s how a real job work, you go to work. Normal stuff - took a nap (another break after lunch) on a chair... many places don’t allow multiple breaks... normal stuff -“9 hours!” It’s closer to 8 hours, which That’s a normal work day for many jobs This video has more invalid points than actual real complaints. He has a fairly normal work schedule that offers the same pros and cons as most jobs (not just programming job). The complaints are only valid if you want to complain about having a job.

@@kiklrgggyhh5796 He said how people have to stand in an enormous line and how they typically wouldn't have time to play after they eat. Yet the video shows a typical line that would happen even if the company created a cafeteria with free food, also creating a cafeteria would probably run these food trucks to go searching else were hence why the company doesn't do it. The guy not only had enough time to eat food, but he had enough time to play video games and fall asleep on a chair. Could they do a cafeteria and make improvements? Sure. Is the company a hell to work for because it doesn't? Probably not since almost no company actually bothers.
The guy reacting to this video probably thinks your work day should be 3 hours, 2.5 hours napping on a king sized bed, eat for 25 minutes, and code for 5 minutes
@@mariachimuerto do you know working? Average people work at least 8 hours. Unless your some sort of a celebrity you are going to living in the street with working 3 hours a day
When I heard him complaining anout the apartment and how to go to the work place I burst out laiughing. Westerners thought we are suffering in hell to live like that?
Now what this guy doesnt understand is that these people could bring their own lunches yet they choose to wait in a line to buy lunch. They chose that.
@Mr Nightmare free cafeteria? What kinda wonderland do you live in? I wake up and drive a hour and a half to work everyday and your saying they dint have time? They do have time they chose not to. Idk if you realize but its called reality and being a adult. No company I've heard of gives lunches. And I've worked 10 hour days from 7 to 5 and had time to make lunches but fir some people its easier to buy it which is understandable. Their working conditions are alot better than most people in the world if you didn't realize that.
@Mr Nightmare seriously have you not had a real full time job? Seriously try waking up at 5:30 am not getting home till 7 pm 6 days a week in the sun in 85-95 degree heat. I'm not even 25 but even i had time I just made my lunch before bed and still find time to exercise 5 to 6 days a week.
@Mr Nightmare buddy I'm sorry but no company does that at all wether its a multi million or billion no company does that unless your in a position of power and write it off as a business lunch so literally no one of a working class gets a free lunch and trust me they do have time.
@Mr Nightmare they probably gave you food because they had to prepare food for seniors. In the real world companies or services that don't prepare food will not have a free cafeteria or well definitely not a free one. I've been to a literal chip plant that makes chips for satellites and they did have a cafeteria of sorts but it definitely wasn't free. I've been to nasa and they have a cafeteria but again wasn't free. Ig free food is common in jobs that prepare food like restaurants and ig senior homes but that is a small portion of work.
@Mr Nightmare the thing is mostly all japanese people are buying their lunch a day before or in a store before work. if he wants to eat his own lunch he have that option. (sorry for my bad english btw :))
its so hard to speak right when you got a script. must be so so so much boring to edit all that crap out, this means you have to sit down and watch the same stuff over and over and pick the good ones, and if none is good guess what, you record again. what a pain.
hmm... I don't want to "bash" on you but its look like you never worked in normal job. This is how workday looks for 99% of people. I'm glad that I managed to get out of this horrible loop and currently working remotly for a small gamedev company but I appreciate it mostly because I spend 8 years working in big companies and I know how harsh life can be... you sounds like spoiled kid who never get his hands dirty. Maybe try to create your own content because "reviewing" other videos and hoping to join the "wave" is not a good direction.
Yep... He doesn't understand, that 99% of the people do have such working hours, do have to go to the office, etc. And because of those people HE doesn't have to do the same...
Well he's not wrong, I worked in 3 different compagnie one with 3 employs, one with 14 employs and another with 2600 employs and they always as provided food for the worker. I guess it depend on the contry, I live in Canada.
And that's why he probably has a fresher perspective of how things should be.. These working conditions are horrible and the same goes for other industries, just because it's normal it doesn't mean it's right.
Your perspective is exactly why even highly sought after positions can barely make ends meet. You expect companies to pay out dirt for the people who actually make that company survive and prosper. Shareholders don’t need to exploit workers just to get a few more percentages in their return.
@@edgarsanmartinjr.4278 I get your point of view, but I think coding is not a very fun job, it can be exciting sure but if you do it for so many hours a day and basicly thats all you do during the day I don't think it's healthy. He barely has time to do anything else, he eats crap everyday and he has no time for much to do.. and remember that this is a video so they probably made his life look the coolest posible. Going out with his pals it's not a daily thing and playing videogames in the arcades can't be for very long because thats taken out from his lunch time. Plus when he gets home he doesnt even play videogames, he does that gundam stuff (wich its cool). I don't know man, a life where you dont have time to do barely anything you love is not a good life to me and coding is not gaming, its just not the same, coding is boring but I get it can be thrilling if its for your own project but coding for someone else and a paycheck and not having time to do shit and living in that tiny apartment and traveling for hours everyday... nah, I think he can do better
I'm sorry but your review is totally unrealistic and comes from a very privileged mind set. Have you ever held an actual job? Where do you know you can take a nap at work? Also those chairs recline into flat beds. Japan is very cramped for space. While I agree on a lot of what you said, it feels like you're grasping at straws to complain.
It's not just a privilege issue. He lack knowledge and cultural awareness...just generally unaware. All the stuff he complains about are things most working people deal with. For one, he doesn't know Japanese culture, weather, living situation - all the issues he raised are so out of touch. Just give you one small example, Japan rains so much that people don't think much sitting down with parts of their clothes wet. They even sell water-repellent spray for shoes and clothing. Argh... this guy is clueless.
I work in a local game studio here and honestly this is exactly how my life is. I wake up and have no time to even breakfast, i drive my motorcycle to office like a fuckin plane. I sit at desk for 4 hours, write code, have an hour of break, go out, return back and code again for 4 hours and come home.
you assume way too much, he said this is the break room area on the second floor, its likely they have multiple, because if you have 1000 people all trying to cram into one break room despite how large it might be, it wouldn't be fun and it would be very space inefficient, you act like you know everything saying "hmm i don't think so" after watching someone who is actually there tell you what its like, don't even start on that "its just a chair" you would be lucky if any of the companies here would give you time to sleep whenever you wanted if you were tired let alone build an entire station for it where you can be in piece and quite, you also sound very whiny "why cant i get this and that for free". plus you camera blocking half the subtitles makes for an overall bad experience when watching this video.
@@TomgTomg1 welp, I agree this video has an unrealistic review. That doesn't mean anything about how good this guy makes his tutorial videos. I mean, c'mon freeCodeCamp doesn't call a random stranger to do tutorials on their channel right?
Him having wet pants has nothing to do with the company respecting him. I doubt he keeps spare clothes at the office, and for a company that didn't v have a uniform, I don't think it should be expected that they have spare clothes for him
I used to work at a big AAA studio in California and it's so different from this place. Our office was so dark because everyone working there are vampires and hate having the lights on, so if we want to have a light they give us a lamp to put at our desk. Also, everyone has their desks swagged out with toys and stuff, unlike this office that everyone has a clean desk. Our break rooms had lots of free snacks and drinks. I gained weight while I worked at this place because it was hard to resist all the snacks and candy. I'm glad I'm working from home now because I'm much healthier.
0:59 Tokyo is infamous for its tiny apartments. You have to remember that Tokyo is the largest city in the world by population. A "big" apartment in Tokyo might cost millions. It really depends on the location.
your vibes in one word: entitlement. You don't know what this honor system is, yet you critizise it. lmao. It's just hilarious how you talk down on basically every 9to5 job there is out there. Your parents must have been kind of wealthy man. Must have been a good life so far for you. :) You should connect more to reality.
Guys, he didn't criticized the honor system. He just basically said that this big game companies should provide a free cafetaria for their employees as this is not a big deal for the company. Let's not criticize this guy anymore.
Sounds to me like he is bitter. His work conditions are probably worse so he needs to bash others who have it better than him by finding any tiny thing to complain about.
There's constructive opinions, and then there's this privileged guy. Who tries so hard to be 'edgy' and hating for no reason. (Edit) Lmao highlited, someones being salty. Yeah, look on yourself. Privileged yte boi...
it doesn't sound like you have ever even worked at a company. This is heaven compared to most and I have never heard of any company (not just game dev companies) providing clothing unless they are essential to the job in some way. Your smart but you have to realize being a successful indie dev is more rare than making a living of making music and that this is the reality ( actually a better reality) of most devs.
I bet this guy works in a shitty programming company so he has to hate on others who have it well. I work as a programmer and my company is huge, huge office with a bunch of perks, game room, gym, cafe, etc all in the office and I appreciate Bandia's office. This guy prob doesn't have that so he wants to hate.
Still looks harsh but definitely better than how it could be especially for a Japanese company and any of us who might go into the games industry for a few years could certainly do alright here.
its normal in asian countries. Young professionals rent a room with a roommate in a small apartment to save money. And rentals are super expensive in city area.
Apparently the apartments in Japan are relatively small because of the high prices. So youngsters prefer staying in small rooms. It is relatively common over there. Most of you might be wondering why he didn't take a bath? Well, that's because people in Japan prefer to take a bath before going to bed to save time
Its not to save time its logical. U gonna get dirty during the day so its stupid to go to bed dirty. It gonna make your bed dirty too. But if you take a shower in evening you are still gonna be clean tomorrow cause all u need to do in morning is wash your face and teeth. But anyway everyone should take a shower when they are dirty or had a long day, meet a lot of people, etc. Its not a matter of day or night for me and i never understood why people make a strict rule to either do it in morning or evening. But when u need to choose its more logical to have one in the evening.
I know this is not a comparison but I’m a construction plumber I first saw the video on Facebook but didn’t get to and lost it and came to UA-cam looked it up and saw this and decided to see it from someone else’s perspective. I know I can not compare my job to this but this is heaven from my perspective who wakes up at 5am, drives to job, starts at 7, lunch for 30 mins and home time at 3:30. As construction workers who’s on their feet all day while handling heavy weight I only get 30 mins lunch I thank god for it everyday. It’s nice to see how other people lives their life’s.
bruh stop complaining too much, that job looks absolutely fine to me and also don't forget that "YOU'RE HIRED AND NOT ADOPTED BY A COMPANY" so you can't play games whenever you want smh
I'm sorry, I couldn't finish this video. I have woken up for work before 6 every day for the past 24 years and have always been required to be into work before this gentleman is even awake. Also, if someone sleeps in past 8 and rolls into work barely before 10, why in the world would he need a nap later in the day? This isn't a daycare! It's a business. If it's raining outside, I have always been adult enough to wear a jacket and whatever it takes to keep me dry on my way into work. If I'm going to be hungry at work, I've always packed myself a lunch and snacks. I don't know a single company outside of silicon valley or the military that freely provides its customers whatever food they want to eat throughout a day. Even the military doesn't always provide free food. Instead only enlisted members or those in deployment locations get free food. Edit: So, out of curiosity, I scrolled to the end of the video where it states he only worked an 8 hour day and met up with his friends after work. In reply, you say he had a "hard working day" and had very little time after work with his friends. Give me a break! If he wants more time at the end of an 8 hour shift (the minimum required to make a 40 hour work week assuming he's working 5 days a week), he needs to get there before 10! And don't say the 40 min travel into work is hindering him from this. Sure it is, but so does it for probably most everyone out there earning a living. I drive to work 45 mins every day and have no issue making time for myself after work as a result of not sleeping in until 9 am! I'm sorry, I really like your instructional videos but you really lost me here. No big deal, just a difference of opinion. Must be the "boomer" in me, but if this work day is considered a hardship I'd imagine you'd consider my work week a f'in tragedy ... which it definitely is not.
You want them to give free food to their employees? How about they just pay the employees rent to then lol, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about
It is common to have 'larger' companies provide free food, which I agree to but only to a point. Your at a job to get work done, but hiring good "shall I say, able bodies" employees in the IT field come with a ton of Snowflake problems... They want all the amenities... Good Vs Evil. The business needs to make money, the employee needs to produce but be able to make a decent living...
yes is like the company has a budget and they stick to there budget meaning that if giving free food to the employees means spending money on food that were not be payed for means losing budget money to something like that so thats what they decided to do with food
If we’re being honest here getting free food at many big companies is actually pretty normal. It all depends really where you end up going. A company could choose to do it or not on the toss of a coin.
You sound like a person who has never worked before, I work for myself these days and it great but have had many jobs before and never worked in such a nice environment like the one you review. I'm sure you don't try come off as entitled but look at your like to dislike ratio and rethink your strategy, hope you get this sorted!
Man yeah make everything free, spare clothes for everyone, when they arrive they should have free time, can play video games everytime... like are you crazy you even said its company for 1000 imagine 1000 people having all of this it would be bancrupt at no time + treat this as a "Day in The Life Of A Japanese Game Developer" every country has people behaving differently, you can't compare this to your freelancing or whatever you do for living.

1: 25min it is typical to live here in a small apartment if you live alone and if you spend most of the day outside (you can save a lot of money). 3: 05min it takes 40 minutes because he wants to spend less in the apartment (and probably doesn't want to live near the office, office which can ask you to stay longer in case of overwork because you live near the office and you can get home easily without a train ). personally i know someone who works in squareenix and lives a 5 minute walk away, just a personal choice. I know 1h20min just to get there and back is a waste of time (even for me) but on the train they do what people normally do at home ... play on the phone, chat, read, sleep ... ahhahah, etc etc . 3: 35min The point is, if everyone does the same, you don't have people to meet even if you don't take that long to get home because all your friends are on a train like you ... so it doesn't matter. but agree on your point. 5: 20min If she wants to change, it's not a problem, this was her choice not to. 6: 15min many companies give you something for free, the point is that you may not like what the company offers (the company cannot give you all the choice in the world for every personal taste). In my company they give free water (normal I know) but many colleagues still buy a different bottle of water in a conbini shop open 24 hours a day .... why? .... stupid or not is a personal choice. So in this case he wants to use his money to buy what he likes. 9: 20min usually the cost of those products is at the cost price ..... but why not free? because if it were free everyone can bring a lot and take it at home, so if one person does it it is not a problem for the company, if hundreds or thousands of people do it .... mmm the story is different ... or not?. 9:50 do you work for them and they give you a salary ... (sometimes really good) and you expect that they also have to pay you to eat every day? and can you keep tons of things every day? (because that's what will happen) ... maybe a small company ... it can be. And it can't be said for some employees it's free and for others no, you'll have problems at work. by the way 14:50 some free stuff is featured in that bandai brench office. 11: 20min no, everyone prefers to eat something they have chosen, so for the company it may not make sense to do an indoor kitchen. in other companies where everyone likes what the internal kitchen offers they eat it. 12:10 probably his salary ranges from 200,000 (1,895.74 $) to 250,000 (2,369.67 $) yen (almost a base in tokyo), this money is for him, taxes, sanity etc etc is already paid . 14: 30min if they want they can have a break when they need it, other companies don't, like others one gives you the possibility to stop when you want to eat when you want etc etc but at the end of a week or month or day you have to reach some goal .... depends on company policy. 17: 30min 9 hours in an office instead of 9 hours on the assembly line, or in the mine or something else. 18: 35min this is another point that a lot of people don't do that job because they love programming they do it because it's something to do better than working on the assembly line (for them of course) I really understand your point and in many cases it is the best way I think so, what I mean is that you cannot really understand from the video because like many other similar videos they only show you what they want you to see not the real of working in There are pros and cons that they will never let you see, in general they show you the stereotypical things people expect to see. just an opinion of course.
Exactly, I worked in games companies who had these rooms full of sofas and consoles - implying relax play some games. If you ever did that the management would go mental, u could not do that. I onl.y used those rooms when testing, I would laze on the sofa and they say what you doing, I say im testing the latest build. I never once saw any of the consoles in the relaxing room ever come on. Though I gather before I arrived it used to be like grandmas boy, shame I missed it.

9:30 Honor System is like "Honesty Store" or somewhat like that where there is no seller and only items and the box with money for you to take the EXACT change with honesty. Obviously, Japan passed the honesty test and they are the best people.
This is a normal work life that you can expect, heck it could even be a luxury for other people. Then this guy complains about stuff as if he doesn't get payed enough. Seriously, this is a job they pay you for doing your work they will not treat you like you are volunteers that doesn't get payed. Honestly, you should take another look at life maybe you were just confused about how it works.
In some places (northern) work days at 8-16. Also I realised the Japanese dude has it really good. Lunch break here is usually 30 mins (but also 15 min coffee break) so he has it good
I don't work in the game industry (or any creative industry). When I work out of the office, I have an hour commute each way (driving - no train service or bus service near me). So, his commute isn't too bad. (And.... I work a low-pay office job so gas takes up a lot of my paycheck!) There are NO company-paid snack or meal options at my office job (and you either take both of your breaks together or you take an UNPAID 30-minute lunch). When you arrive for your shift, you are to stay at your desk unless you are on break (15 minute break per 4 hours) or you are going to the bathroom. You are not allowed to interact with others (outside official business). His day is pretty typical for many of us (at least in the States).
I'm looking into pursuing a career in game developing but extremely scared. What are some things are necessary to be a good developer? I noticed some developers draw, which i am horrible at.
If you want to be a Programmer, computer science degree and strong math skills will go a long way, decide which you want to focus on, front end/back end, which coding language, preference on platform and do you want to work on AAA or indie games
I'd really like to know what company you work for that does all the stuff you mention. Even outside the industry there is basically no one that does more than what is shown in the video
I think he meant it as the working hours. Like as far as I know, usually people work a lot. I remember watching a video about a japanese video game programmer, and he said it was typical for them to work 12 hours with doing some overtime when there are due dates
Dude I think when paolo says that they can play games whenever they want he means they can take reasonable breaks not work for an hour then play fortnite hour 7 hours
Two things : first, he didn't sleep because he was tired from work : a short (1 hour) post-lunch nap is fairly common in some parts of the worlds. I'm French, we call that a "sieste" (siesta for the Spanish). It's normal just after lunch to feel a little sleepy, as digestion starts. That's what the nap is for. For most businesses, it's better to just have people drink coffee and power through it, which is stupid. But it sure is less expensive than dedicated office space to a dormitory. And because the nap is short and you're not supposed to get a full night's sleep, it's OK to do it on this kind of "chaise longue". I see nothing wrong here, quite the opposite. Lots of people are fighting for the right to have post-lunch naps at work. Second, about the free food : you ever heard the saying, "no such thing as a free lunch" ? Sure, some companies provide free snacks. They come out of your paycheck, of course. The only reason to do it would be convenience (it's faster to just grab a snack than to also take out your wallet and pay) but then some people may not like the "free" snacks and may want to bring their own. They'll still get paid the same, so it's unfair to them, even if the sum is minuscule. It's really the work hours and commute I don't like. Especially for a type of job that could easily be done remotely. I should know, I've done that type of job remotely long before COVID forced us to.
The idea of waking up and going straight to work is a Korea and Japan culture as most people work really late till 10PM then go drink with there co worker and come home past 12 and they crash and the cycle repeats
He woke up at 8:15... that's pretty late. If he put just a little more effort he could had wake up at 6:00 and have time to eat properly, prepare lunch, check the weather to know what kind of clothes to wear, do some exercise, shower, etc. 9 hours of work with spare time to eat and take a nap is pretty good. Let's say he arrives at home at 10:00 (if he go out to have dinner with his friends), he has 2 hours to do anything he want. And then have some good sleep. And I assume he has to work from monday to friday (maybe saturday, half/day), so he still has some free time. If his job looks "bad" is mostly Masa's fault, for what I can see.

As a medical student I knew that doctors work 24 hours every 3 days .. and the normal days 13 hours. So yeah gamedev is much much better than another jobs.

The games really bug me because my company does this too. They have all this stuff that they show people in interviews but I cant even stand up for a coffee without 5 managers swooping on me at turning it into a meeting,
“He went in the corner of the company to take a nap. It was a chair. What was that. WHAT WAS THAT?! How can you take a nap while sitting down?! Is the budget that low that you cannot afford a couch so your employees can sleep the way employees are meant to sleep?” It’s truly a tragedy, I guess that the Japanese civilization hasn’t researched the Business Hammocks tech yet

@Mr Nightmare free cafeteria? What kinda wonderland do you live in? I wake up and drive a hour and a half to work everyday and your saying they dint have time? They do have time they chose not to.

TBH free food and drinks is the standard
If we’re being honest here getting free food at many big companies is actually pretty normal. It all depends really where you end up going. A company could choose to do it or not on the toss of a coin.

something like that..
18: 35min this is another point that a lot of people don't do that job because they love programming they do it because it's something to do better than working on the assembly line (for them of course)
I really understand your point and in many cases it is the best way I think so, what I mean is that you cannot really understand from the video because like many other similar videos they only show you what they want you to see not the real of working in There are pros and cons that they will never let you see, in general they show you the stereotypical things people expect to see.

The narrator said it was good for a company in Japan. I wonder how those "other" companies treat their employees.
I think he meant it as the working hours. Like as far as I know, usually people work a lot. I remember watching a video about a japanese video game programmer, and he said it was typical for them to work 12 hours with doing some overtime when there are due dates
China and Korea and Japan are like that.. Similar. But people will kill me for this comparison.
to give you a picture, the there's a common phrase for overworking to death literally (karoshi)
try to watch paulo from tokyo and compare that with average salary man, you will get the big picture of it.
In konami it's being told if you are disliked and Because in Japan it's impolite to fire you, they will make you work at gambling software
I should know, I've done that type of job remotely long before COVID forced us to.
he just started working there ,but still i think 8h is max working hour ,only if you want to work overtime ,then its diffrent
The idea of waking up and going straight to work is a Korea and Japan culture as most people work really late till 10PM then go drink with there co worker and come home past 12 and they crash and the cycle repeats
Apparently you're not allowed to call it like you see it. There's a lot of really... odd defensiveness when it comes to anything Japan.
completely agree with you
As a solo self slaved dev I would sign for that job right now without thinking for a sec
If his job looks "bad" is mostly Masa's fault, for what I can see.
he lives a luxury life :D here we wake up at 4am. get to work at 6-8am and I'm at home around 6pm no much of free time and then have to prepare lunch for anoher day at 8pm. we have lunch break only 30min long. no nap time! thats a joke that someone can nap in their job :D you would get in big troubles if someone saw you. I have no idea what these guys are rumbling about
@@lamb9642 yeah, my older brother wake up at 5, work from 9am to 6pm (just 30min to eat at 2pm) and arrive home at 8pm. Monday to Saturday.
Salary is good for one person, but not enough for a family.
Only rich people can think that working like Masa is horrible XD
In japan, most people take a bath in the evening.
i am 16 and don't have a lot of experience with actual working. But this reaction just doesn't make any sense. The guy reacting seems like he want's a job where you rest 60% and work 40% xD.
Hey man, loved the video but in the future if you make videos like this. Please try and put your face cam in a location that does not block the subtitles 🧐
???? im confused about it...
Wait till he sees how the working conditions are for animators in Japan, he's gonna freak if this is too bad for him
I'm pretty sure this guy got rejected by bandai
no
Just for your information, real estate is very expensive in Japan so this is considered your average house for them.
this white boy didnt travel much, forgive him
@@mbank3832 oh lol sorry for that I thought you were talking to me were chilling bro
@@troyc5803 nah, you're cool. I am saying the guy in the video nit pick too much. i mean that apartment Masa stays in is considered decent. Also many big companies dont offer free food even in America (i know since i work for one myself) so all those cons aren't valid cons at all lmao
@@mbank3832 yeah ikr like that guy is lucky to even sleep when working. Apparently this is what happens when you are a UA-camr and do not work with sweat

Man thinks workplaces should be like hotels.
no, workspace should be better than hotels
@@awesometuts I am getting what you mean. But work places are just for work that is what companies think. I agree it should be better than hotels.
6:55 In Japan there's also a company and it's called "Black Company" and it's basically same on what are you describing his workplace
You have your own perspective because you are also Game Developer but the way you describe it very critical that for others it's very ignorant
I don't know if you know what "Black Company" is? But Im very sure that his workplace is better than what "Black Company" workplace is.
I'm sure some of the hate comments know what "Black Company" that's why in their perspective you are the bad guy
So the dislikes in this video make sense because the way you describe it, it's like he's being forced to work 24 Hours (Thumbnail), they don't let him sleep and it's like telling others that this is not how Normal Game Programmer Job do(When there is no COVID)
And remember this is clearly before COVID-19 Spread
Lastly it's boring to have very long comment so I shortened it
First time learning what "Black Company" is when I was watching(or reading) Isekai genre anime( or manga) and all of the main character died because of overwork, lack of sleep or getting hit by a truck
I'm 15 and I want to become a game developer and you just showed me game development is hard.
I'm almost 16. Learning Game Dev for 1 year. Keep going, it will be worth it!
And don't worry
A lot of jobs are hard. If you truly enjoy it and have the skills, go for it. Having a job you enjoy is one great gift. Note that depending on where you live the industry can be smaller or exploitative, but you can research about that.
As a medical student
I knew that doctors work 24 hours every 3 days .. and the normal days 13 hours. So yeah gamedev is much much better than another jobs.
Please benchmark a game made on unity and unreal. (Same game on both)please tell which game takes less mem and more fps and perfoance also.
21:27 THAT AWAKWARD SILENCE KILLED ME FROM INSIDE!!
Dude expecting dedicated hotel rooms for naps, free restaurant food and literally a 5minute commute. Aight bro.
When you go to the comments cause your know what’s about to happen
Not to sound mean but this video is more of a hate video at least he is happy that he has a job and at least he's happy and grateful that he has two monitors and a whole computer inside his apartment even though it's small, it has all the living things things that people need to survive like water also like his job transportation is not that bad since people in Japan don't really use cars I think that's because of the economy I'm not sure but using a train or bike is not bad and eating a few snacks and like for like breakfast is not bad especially when he's working it helps his brain think about what he's doing he's also grateful that he walks even though it might take a long time to get to it he was pretty happy when he's walking to work not being able to play games that work is really understandable because there is time for work in there is time for playing you can't just work and play games at the same time once you actually understand why they don't do like free snacks and free food because that's because the company needs to make some profit and by not putting them as free they teach their workers that not everything is free in life so once you actually understand it's pretty easy to understand and continue on living like it also they're not allowed to play games all the time but at least they have a rest time where they can play games or nap I see you're also complaining that they don't have like a couch or a small bed they can lay on or take for take a nap at least they're providing a chair not the floor and I think the main thing here is that he's enjoying his job so yeah not to sound mean but it was really like I hate review you have to look more into the video before hitting it I hope this comment changed your mind.
I respect your opinion as everyone is entitled to think what ever they want, but it didn't change my mind
@@awesometuts I feel like the title should be "Criticism of Japanese Office System
The games really bug me because my company does this too. They have all this stuff that they show people in interviews but I cant even stand up for a coffee without 5 managers swooping on me at turning it into a meeting,
That's the part I don't like. The English speaking guy in the video was trying way too hard to romanticize the work culture there.
1:15 In japan having a small apartment is normal. Also if you wanted a house or a bigger apartment you would need a lot of money.
“He went in the corner of the company to take a nap. It was a chair. What was that. WHAT WAS THAT?! How can you take a nap while sitting down?! Is the budget that low that you cannot afford a couch so your employees can sleep the way employees are meant to sleep?”
It’s truly a tragedy, I guess that the Japanese civilization hasn’t researched the Business Hammocks tech yet

6:40 how old are u are you still in school
Um when you work in the trade it's even worse wake up at 5 am and be to work by 7 am and then work till 5:30 and be home by 6:50. This guys working conditions are quiet clean and comfortable. I'm 22 and I can see this.
no cap. worked as a foreman for a huge landscaping until I broke my ankle recently. Waking up at 5am and being on your feet until 5:30-6pm getting home at 7 with barely time for anything makes this job look like a fucking breeze.
The bigger the company, the less empathy for its employees, and the more stringent rules are upheld. Small companies FTW
Well when you live in a bigger city working for a larger company will be your best bet if you wanna stay there.
