Studios usually go for security, so word of mouth is your best portfolio. Be active at conferences, join fellow developers on social media, take part in discussions. Bonus is, you get a sense for what really is in demand and you can develop in that direction. Know some people and you easily get into the industry. Do a good job then and be nice to the others and you'll stay in. Lend other people a hand to join you and you'll often have somebody, who pulls you back in.
I think the most important factor is the school and department you studied in. To give an example from myself, I did not study computer engineering, that's why I received negative responses from many companies.

I'm from india and over here there is not such a great demand for game developers and the salary is also very less , if I create a portfolio and apply in Foreign Game Development Studios especially in the Western Nations will they hire me ?

I find that if the portfolio does not look *better* than the game the studio is making, they don't even interview you. It is nonsense, but that is the way it is. It is taking me longer to polish my portfolio than it took me to develop some of the games on it. Now I'm starting to get interviews.
So you saying each mf who works at Ubisoft have their own AC in portfolio but better? What is the cap and what zaza you smoking 😂😂😂
@@davidkunakovsky3155 I said "looks" better, not is better. Check out some of the portfolios of the devs on those games. They look impossibly good.
