  • A short introduction to the pipes and connectors needed to go from a small woodstove through a ceiling and on stack on the roof. This video will give you an idea of what to purchase to get this project started.

Very professional and a great presenter, very clear and easy to follow. The box inside the house affixed to the ceiling is where people go wrong :) ....some pass the pipe next to the ceiling which will be combustible material :( Thanks for posting.

Good morning! I installed the support box already. The kit I purchased is a sentinel cf model for 6’’ insulated pipe. I just don’t know to assemble all the hardware now. The bottom hole is the black box is about 10’’ diamater while my top section insulated pipe is 8’’ outside dimension… did you fix the pipe inside the box or the whole pipe is ‘sitting’ on the stove? Would you have any photo of how you assemble the chimney?!

Is it correct for the top of the stove pipe to be on the outside of the ceiling box pipe??? To me air flow up would cause smoke to escape ??

Nice install..I see that you have quite a bit of the stainless steel chimney patruding out of the support box. I could not find in the directions, during my install, how much of the chimney pipe I needed to have extending downward to maintain proper clearances. My set up is identical to yours. Same exact pieces in the same exact sequence…did you happen to see anywhere in the instructions how much of that chimney you needed to have extending from the ceiling support box??

No, I didn't see anything in the instructions on that. I think because it will be variable depending on individual ceiling height. I think (again not a professional installer) that you are stuck with the standard lengths of pipe that can't be cut. So, the distance from the ceiling box is going to be dependent on your ceiling height and the lengths of standard pipe + woodstove height up to some point below the ceiling that it protrudes below.

Why can't you install the roof flashing piece (sliding under) and then slide the pipe down through it to the box?

With the support box that goes through the roof structure, came a large band-clamp. That is to be positioned at on the pipe extending through the roof to seat on the bottom edge of the circular hole in the support box. So, you can't (I couldn't) shove the roof flashing piece in first and then slide the pipe down as shown in some videos. The band-clamp had to be positioned and clamped to the pipe first (to just meet the bottom of the box and connect with the piping rising up from the stove below) and then put into place. The roof flashing piece then has to SLIDE DOWN onto that pipe. It can be done as you suggest IF the band-clamp is not used. It's possible that's it's not necessary to support the weight of the piping above if not that much piping above but that was not the suggested practice.

@@patricko697 Thanks for the reply, that's very helpful. I won't be installing mine for a while yet, still finishing the building. But this helps in planning, thank you.

Do you have an actual photo of that band clamp you are refering? My kit had none and not quit sure how to assemble all the hardware
