- Scott shows us his nickel plating techniques. This turns ordinary objects into almost indestructible works of art - and they are beautiful. Warning: Do not drag you plated pistol behind your car... this is bad karma!!! LOL. Enjoy the video.

Scott thanks for a very detailed and concise video. Excellent instructions verbally and mechanically.
Scott, Really appreciate your videos / instruction and the fact that you always err on doing what's best!
I love your style, attention to detail and quality of work. I’ll be calling you next week.
Talked with Scott a few days ago and he is a super nice gentleman. Can't wait and looking forward for him to perform a complete restore on a rifle I have.
Nicely detailed work. Worth paying this man a little more because he won’t cut any corners. I’m not a paid supporter I’m in Canada 🇨🇦 but I know good work when I see it after 40 years of gun collecting.
I ABSOLUTELY love these videos!
Glad to see your back Scotty!
Perfect timing as I was looking at Nickel plating some 1892 parts soon

Great Job friend!... I liked so much
thanks for the video! beautiful guns!
You SIR are a Master Gunsmith / Craftsman … I truly enjoyed your video. I have been attempting to nickel plate some old late 1800s and early 1900s Pistols that I have acquired. I haven’t had very good luck and really don’t want to spend a lot of money doing so. The value of the pistols is not a lot and I usually get at an auction. Once I do I try and make them 100% functional. That alone is a chore with having to drill and tap and at times make small parts to replace the missing or worn or broken gun parts. The nickel plating is a disaster in many way. First you get a smooth finish and then a spattered rough finish that is almost impossible to smooth out and shine to a bright nickel finish. I have tried Caswell stuff and get mixed results. Also, the layer of nickel has caused an assembly issue with parts. That’s a whole other issue. Great video and keep them coming 👍
Very interesting as usual.
Is this the Mr. Rogers of guns? No, no... that's Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch.
This guy is the Bob Ross of guns, for sure. Love your channel, sir. 👍
Yes! “A little happy feather here and another little happy feather there..”
Love the Videos. Can you do some more on stock repair and finishing? Maybe glass bedding a rifle? The videos are great!
Great video.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Scott. Love your video. If I may, I would have a question. I have a Remington 1875 nickel plated replica that tarnishes to my touch. I've never had a nickel plated one before. Is there some kind of wax or polish I can use in PREVENTION of this oxidation ? Thank you sir :-)
You sound a lot like Arthur Hunnicutt. A fine American actor.
Question boss, Where do you get those “razor wheels” with grit? Or is it just sisal wheels with liquid grit applied ?
Im subscribed !! Man your video is very informative my friend... I have a Colt Junior .25 on layaway from a local Ma and Pop place here in Tucson.. Im very interested in trying to Nickle plate it "diy" style !
Did you ever get to DIY on your Colt?
What is the formula you use to figure the amount of metal? Is it Length of slide X 3 + 2? Thanks great video!
What copper platting are you using if I may ask? Flash or Acid thanks.
Scotty is the best!
I am curious... what are the bubbles in the solution buckets?
Yeah after watching this I'm very confident that I will send my piece's in to get platted. ;)
Where can I get a hold of the cylinder wheel you use at the beginning?
Do you plate guns for others..Have a Les Baer 1911..You do great work
Could you please tell me what parts to nickel plate and what not? Are the pins do able? Trigger ? Thank you
Would love to get my colt plated
Hey Scott, I'm currently in the process of nickel plating my CZ Shadow 2 and i am curious what copper solution you use. Is it acid based or alkaline?
I sand blasted a 1911 with super fine sand
It cleaned it up nice ,could it be nickel plated with out polishing .I’m curious what it would come out like .any info would be great .great video you are a craftsman for sure.
Yes you can, you will get a nice matte finish as result!
Quick question: I have a part that I am going to be plating, but there is an area that cannot be plated. What is the best method of "masking" that area off. I have heard painting with lacquer would work.
Yes i have a can of some stuff called mask, i think all it is is lacquer.or after you clean it i have used like the blue tape to mask the Area I didn't want plated.
Can you point me in the right direction? I cant find any cylinder polishing wheels like the the one in the vid.
Would a 3d printed and electroplated gun hold up for use?
what is the heated cleaning solution
How can I contact this gunsmith to have this done?
Is that flash copper?
Wanting to nickle plate the action of my Henry .17 hmr lever action . The cover is one piece and scratches when you look at it. I've nickle plated some small parts like hammers and triggers but nothing this big. HELP! What should I buy such as power (usng a small power source that came from a kit), the solution that came with it as was the thin copper and nickle. Not sure what purity the nickle is but it claims to be almost pure but I'm doubtful. Please tell me where to buy, what to buy and how long to do it. PLEASE.

How are you getting copper to plate to steel?
just compress the spring & push a pin through one of the holes, & it comes apart easy,, they are usually really dirty inside (my 1903 pocket hammerless was from 1925, probably the same style magazine) near impossible to get the inside of a magazine clean without disassembly,, maybe ultrasonic cleaning will??
Is your solution a “brightened nickel” or just straight?
I have the bell selected but no notification came. Doesn’t surprise me though.
Damn how much did you need to polish that frame 😅
I have a Sig p229 legion I would love to Nickel plate.. how can I get in touch with you.
Not sure how he got the Caswell bright nickel plating kit to work we must of got screwed here in Australia, those anodes look larger than the current nickel anodes on for sale by Caswell. There Bright Nickel kit aways needs post polishing.
