That is probably the prettiest daisy I have ever seen. Restored a few older ones from my Dad. You do things like this not for money, but the sentiment of the artifact and to learn as you go. VERY well done.
I too heard that you have to drink the coffee after you soak Damascus in it and that it will make the Damascus stand out more. Something to do with the stomach acids
Safety Last! Cool restoration. Doesn’t matter how much it is worth or not worth, since this was from your childhood it has immeasurable worth to you, Cam. And that is all that matters. And hey, your BB gun is a real shooter as well.
Very nice! I plan to watch this with my Father! While as a youngin' I had a .22 rifle before I had a BB gun and when I finally purchased one it was actually .20 cal Benjamin Sheridan Pellet rifle but I remember two of these Daisy's hanging in the open ceiling of our basement that were my fathers as a child. I think next time he visits I'll tell him to bring those with him, then show him this and tell him we're going to restore his. Thank you!
Safety first certainly happened here. Thanks for sharing Cam. Beautiful restoration/ modification of a truly legendary peice of history. 😅 The wood choice and Damascus are spot on.
Safety first! I am probably the last person you would expect to be watching your channel and especially something about a BB gun! I’m an older woman who doesn’t know how to use tools beyond a hammer and screwdriver! But you make me laugh so don’t knock your sense of humor 😂😂😂 Thanks for sharing! PS if my husband were alive he would be watching this with me to better his woodworking skills and give him inspiration!
Safety first! I just ordered the Daisy Red Ryder BB gun today for 90€ 😂 I'm planing to replace the wood stock with a mahogany stock my father made, from an old window/door frame, around 35 years ago for us to play with. Just the bare wood stock and imagination was enough back then 😂. I kept it all the years and I will surprise him after I've finished the modifications. Thanks for this inspiring video! And all your other content as well, I think I nearly watched all your videos. Greetings from Germany
Safety first! Everything is worth whatever you can get someone to pay you for it. Things you make for yourself out of love are priceless. Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to putting your table course that I received for Christmas to work!
Safety first, this video made feel pride at being a proud owner of a Red Rider BB gun. It was how I introduced my kids into the fun of shooting. Great videos of wood working, I particularly enjoy the creativity. I’ve enjoyed many videos including the mammoth tusk. Keep up the good work and “don’t shoot your eye out”.
Man that was a beautiful restoration, the finish on the rifle is just beautiful. You brought me back memories of the rifle that my grandfather gave me and that I restored a few years ago.
safety first, Oh man, love it! I restored my old BB gun a few years ago and now I want to do it again and better it up. I think my BB gun is older than me. No idea when my dad got it. I am in my late 40's. It has no power what-so-ever, but it is definitely an item of importance to me. Thanks for sharing this.
SAFETY FIRST You have inspired me to start restoration on the two similar Daisy BB guns I have. One was my Grandfather's and the other was my Dad's and I shot both when I was a child in the 1960s. I really don't know when they were made/purchased but they both are at least pre-1965! Both have been in my basement since 1985 and have a good layer of surface rust. THANKS for re-posting this video! SAFETY FIRST
When I want a darker finished surface, I've had good results with cold blue and using steel wool wetted with cold blue solution to buff the surface and build a darker color by continuing to buff and apply more solution until the desired effect is achieved. That said I love what you've done with the BB gun.
Safety first...now I am inspired to do the same thing to my Daisy from the mid-70s. It hasn't worked in years, but now I have a reason to tear into it. I also like the change of pace this video provided. Awesome stuff per usual...
Safety first, I am actually going through gunsmith school and planning on a similar project with my childhood daisy buck so this is awesome inspiration
Very nice work... wish my old Daisey looked that nice... I bought one from my cousin in 1968 for 2 dollars. .. it was the most accurate bb gun I've ever had.. When I went in the military my mom gave it to my next door neighbor.. I was upset to say the least... Again, very nice work, that stock looks amazing... Take care...
As an air gun collector and restorer, I can tell you you have raised the value with that beautiful exhibition grade walnut and the cold blue gives it a real nice warm finish if I can call it that rather than a dark blue black caustic bluing. Great job and great gun.
Safety first! That was so totally over the top it defines the term. We all had one of those Daisy BB guns. I got mine about 1972 or so. Too bad it’s long gone, because I would use an exotic wood blanket too.
Safety first, this is maybe the coolest and sweetest thing I’ve seen yet. I have my final project for my design and technology class soon, and these videos have been so so helpful ❤
Safety first. Nice job. When I was a kid in the sixties every kid had a BB gun and making them you own by modification was all a part of it. The word safety was not even in the dictionary. I like the way you shake the gun before cocking it. Brings back memories
Safety first - in my part of the world I only hear of a BB gun (sorry if that the wrong spelling) on American TV shows, it was good to see it, and even better to see the restoration, a childhood toy give great love. 🇬🇧
I live in Belgium, for us a BB gun was a spring loaded plastic gun replica that shot plastic BB's. Basically an airsoft gun. Nowhere near as powerful as that American gun.
Safety squints engaged. I grew up with an early 80’s Red Ryder, which also happens to be made by Daisy. I believe your gun is a Model 99. One time I shot a can of spray paint that my dad left sitting on the side rail of one of our livestock trailers. Spray paint was black, trailer was dark blue. Let’s just say it wasn’t a wise choice to shoot the can. Too bad it wasn’t nowadays where the BB guns are so under powered that they can’t even penetrate an aluminum drink can let alone a spray paint can. I got a lesson in repainting a trailer that week. I’ve never liked painting since.
It actually looks like an old Winchester rifle because of that finish on the metal and the wood grain that you picked for the stock. It’s a clean rifle
I love how you put safety first in your videos. I’m impressed. I think there are some parallels to our approach to carpentry. I’m a union carpenter out of Portland and I am a little quirky about my tools. I’ll spend extra time making or modifying a tool to make it perfect for me. Nobody seems to appreciate it like I do until they need it and they stop giving me a hard time till they give it back. It’s funny.
My Daidy from the 1960's had an actual wood stock and forearm. The lever was aluminum. It was painted from the factory. One of these days I am going to restore it. A blueing I have had better luck with is the stuff from Brownell's in Iowa. Your rifle with tha new stock is outrageously beautiful.
Safety first: I love the way it turned out - the gnarly stock and the gun-metal finish on the barrel is just amazing! And I definitely like that you went overkill with the materials used. Screw the haters and keep up the good work 🔥
Loved the video. I remember those BB guns. They were accurate as it looks like yours still is. Enjoy it Cam. I wouldn’t worry about the naysayers. You did a heckuva job on your rebuild . 👍👍👍
Safety First. UA-cam is in no place to ban videos based on content. What they let through is a travesty, while they still restrict great content. I enjoy your channel, thank you for making the content that you do.
I’m pretty partial to my Red Ryder. I received it for my 10th birthday in 1988. It’s the 50th anniversary edition and has a 50 year warranty. It also has a brass medallion embedded in the stock.
Safety first, always. You could put an eye out with that thing... I'm talking about how AMAZING that looks "Restored", "Renovated", "Modified", call it what you will, I'd say it's worth a lot more now than it was with that 2 x 4 of a walnut stained balsa wood that the old stock was made from. That grafted wood was very cool, it never occurred to me that a grafted wood could be used for anything. (We grafted a lot of apple trees when I was a kid). Nice job. Scott from Japan
That stock looks gorgeous. Also metal workers are like woodworkers in the hoarding department. I have so many small offcuts of steel, aluminium, copper, brass and even a little Damascus bits
SAFTEY FIRST-I redid mine from the '70s a couple of years ago. Mine has all metal parts and I stripped and had a friend hot blue them for me and replaced all the seals and stripped and refinnished the stocks after giving them a checker job and cnc'd a thin steel buttplate which I also had blued. I gave it about 7 or 8 coats of linseed oil over a weeks time and bufded it out with a car buffer with a soft wool pad which gave it sort of a matt finnish. It turned out really nice and ahot better than I ever remember. It gave it to my granddaughter on her 5th birthday. So now another generation gets to have fun with it and hopefully pass it on to her kids.
You were right the first time. English walnuts are the valuable ones people really want. They are the ones grafted to the black walnut below. I used to see those in California when I lived there.
Safety First! This was fun to watch - thanks Cam. I always use the bluing solution on copper pipes etc in the house when they have to be surface mounted, way better look than paint. Is my go-to also for mild steel railings, can't beat it in my humble opinion! BB gun looks terrific and is worth way more than it was in so many ways ;)
Safety first, Cam the BB Gun turnout absolutely amazing would love to do this to my childhood BB gun thanks for sharing. Glad to see you were flowing all the firearm safety rules when you fired the BB gun 🥹 great video
Safety first -- from spray paint to cold blue and Walnut - you quadrupled the value! Nice work. My Daisy Buffalo Bill BB gun was shot to pieces - literally!
Safety first, man that brought back so many amazing memories me. I loved my BB gun and the adventures we went on. I could write a book. Awesome restoration.
Safety first, great job with this restoration or as some may say ( modification). I enjoyed watching and personally thought it was funny as well as informative. At the end of the day it belongs to you and as long as you're happy then that's all that matters. Keep up the good work!
Love the restoration Cam. Safety first, sure. Going to attempt to restore my BB Red Rider, exactly the same as yours. There's one piece absent. The rear sight adjustment slider thingy. Mine I also MiA for as long as I can remember. Absolutely stunning result with the new stock, grip and cock lever.
Safety First, Safety Third, Just Safety is important. Great restoration project and childhood memory, my dad gave me his Daisy when I was young. Had lots of fun with it 😁
Found my dads old daisy while doing a reno in the basement. Been down there for 40 years and is getting rusty. Time for a new look! (Considering you did a damascus pump handle worth more than 20 dollars, you have in fact INCREASED the value. Theres MILLIONS of these things out there. Value for an original is still 20 bucks 😄)
Safety first.......anything you add damascus stell will end up awesome. Damascus steel turns up a notch or two the looks of everything and make it more "high end". Congrats on an awesome piece.
Safety first!! I mean proudest moment in youtube content for five years 😅😅 really beautiful content idea and we enjoy every single work and video you've made so far.. 😉🥳
Safety first.. man this was a whole lot nicer Daisy then what I had as a kid. Mine was all plastic except for the barrel and was also a pump. I had to pump that sucker up 10 times to get it to punch a whole in a soda can. Great reminiscing
Safety first. Didn't see this last time round. Glad you repeated it. Your gun, your update. I've wrecked some valueble things in my time by using them as they were meant to be used, and feel no guilt!
Safety first. I smiled with the extra layers of PPE and with this type of weapon there is no explosive propulsion of material burning but is the release of a measure volume of compressed air, with just a simple spring providing the compressed air. As for the finished weapon, I say it’s a very well restored example where safety has mitigated a possible part failure that will render it useless (and cause injury as it fractures) unless you fabricate a new one using a 3D printer (not the original part) or use metal that can also display a characteristic pattern which, is unique within itself. I restored my own rifles with I was a young lad but only had either varnish or French polish to choose from but 2 part epoxy was just around the corner which I later changed to. I enjoy your videos of either building something new or restoring (e.g. the Japanese blade restoration). Rgds J 😊
Safety first. As I’m watching this I’m amazed at the amount of money you put into this project. The wood, the reblueing. Then you mention the value of a “collectors item” being modified and the loss of value. It was an interesting thought. All that being said, what is the value to you? We all have things that are worthless that we personally highly value. We all have things we were given in the past that we want to make functional again. Why? Because to us they are priceless. Personally, I think your old BB gun looks awesome.
Thanks for watching and N3 nano finish available here! n3nano.com
"3 hour virtual tutorial on refinishing a bb gun"!!!😂😂😂
Lmao @ the testing gear!!!
Also, I thought the Damascus was achieved by layering the metals, then forging them together... Like on Forged in Fire.🙈
He’s got another 23 minute video on how he improved the sheen and protection on his coffee pot he purchased in the late 90s.
Are you going to display that beast in the back window or your pickup now?
edit - safety first
Safety First ! The dry humor had me nearly in tears. The 3x layers of PPE at the end was pure gold.
No chances this time
Cam,
Safety first, that $20.00,1980s BB gun restoration turned out pretty damn nice. Thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video.
Thanks man!
Safety first! I'm a safety engineer and you just made my day. LOVELY rebuild of that nice BB gun. Keep it up.
Safety first, you’ll shoot your eye out.
That is probably the prettiest daisy I have ever seen. Restored a few older ones from my Dad. You do things like this not for money, but the sentiment of the artifact and to learn as you go. VERY well done.
Safety first is overrated, you gonna drink the coffee?
Safety first: Give the coffee to your rose and azalea bushes. The acid is good for them, strawberries, tomatoes and pine trees too.
Hes gonna sip water from that Rockstar can. Important to stay hydrated you know.
😅😅😅
More of an energy drink guy
I too heard that you have to drink the coffee after you soak Damascus in it and that it will make the Damascus stand out more. Something to do with the stomach acids
Safety Last! Cool restoration. Doesn’t matter how much it is worth or not worth, since this was from your childhood it has immeasurable worth to you, Cam. And that is all that matters. And hey, your BB gun is a real shooter as well.
Agreed!

Safety first…. Or perhaps fun first. Had that BB gun 48 years ago, still bring back memory when watching you restoring that same gun
Safety first certainly happened here. Thanks for sharing Cam. Beautiful restoration/ modification of a truly legendary peice of history. 😅 The wood choice and Damascus are spot on.
Safety first!

Things you make for yourself out of love are priceless.
Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to putting your table course that I received for Christmas to work!
Safety first my man! That walnut is absolutely stunning and what a fun project.
Safety first, this video made feel pride at being a proud owner of a Red Rider BB gun. It was how I introduced my kids into the fun of shooting. Man that was a beautiful restoration, the finish on the rifle is just beautiful. You brought me back memories of the rifle that my grandfather gave me and that I restored a few years ago.
Safety first! I still have my 1st Daisy bb gun. It's 45 years old now and still not worth anything. I love what you did with the forearm and stock.
Safety first. My favorite toy, er, lethal weapon, when I was a kid. I never knew a Daisy could look so badass.
Very nice. The haters never had a BB gun.
safety first, Oh man, love it! I restored my old BB gun a few years ago and now I want to do it again and better it up. I think my BB gun is older than me. No idea when my dad got it. I am in my late 40's. It has no power what-so-ever, but it is definitely an item of importance to me. Thanks for sharing this.
Safety first. A joy as always! Beautiful restoration and what better thing to restore than a beloved fave from your childhood? 😁
Safety first! Adding the damascus lever was a great touch!
Guns and woodworking in one video? Yeah im watching
SAFETY FIRST

I would proudly display that BB gun, absolutely added value!
Safety first! The only mistake you made, was not declaring the range cold when you put the safety on...
When I want a darker finished surface, I've had good results with cold blue and using steel wool wetted with cold blue solution to buff the surface and build a darker color by continuing to buff and apply more solution until the desired effect is achieved.

Safety first. BB gun is a no-no but all the woodworking tools that can rip your hand apart are fine 😂

Safety first - we truly love your matter of fact, don’t care what you think dead pan attitude. Makes this channel just perfect for us x
That is honestly one of the most beautiful guns I've ever seen period. That Damascus lever and wood stock looks amazing. Safety third!
Safety first. Value when from priceless to priceless
Very nice work... wish my old Daisey looked that nice... I bought one from my cousin in 1968 for 2 dollars. .. it was the most accurate bb gun I've ever had.. Safety first! That was so totally over the top it defines the term. We all had one of those Daisy BB guns. I got mine about 1972 or so. Too bad it’s long gone, because I would use an exotic wood blanket too.
Safety first. Absolutely a trip down memory lane seeing that gun.
Safety first! Totally agree with the sentiment around the Daisy over the red ryder. I had a Daisy too!
Safety first, this is maybe the coolest and sweetest thing I’ve seen yet. I have my final project for my design and technology class soon, and these videos have been so so helpful ❤
Doing a custom lever handle for an old 1980 BB gun it wonderful. That is so cool that you did these upgrades..
Safety first.
I'm positive you've added value because we now appreciate it as well as you. That and it was stunning esp the stock
Safety first. Nice job. When I was a kid in the sixties every kid had a BB gun and making them you own by modification was all a part of it. The word safety was not even in the dictionary. I like the way you shake the gun before cocking it. Brings back memories

I love how you put safety first in your videos. I’m impressed.

Great video. Redoing your childhood airgun (not classed as a firearm) looks really fulfilling. Enjoyed.

Safety first... Loved it Miss my Daisy BB gun mine was 50+ years old when I finally gave her away.
SAFETY FIRST!
Anything that has sentimental value is priceless to the owner.
Safety first. I see no problem with youn having fun with an old toy. I really enjoyed the change of pace
I enjoy your channel, thank you for making the content that you do.
safety first. i like these little side projects that are quite different from the table builds but just as entertaining.
I’m pretty partial to my Red Ryder. I received it for my 10th birthday in 1988. It’s the 50th anniversary edition and has a 50 year warranty. It also has a brass medallion embedded in the stock.
Safety first! Makes me wish I still had mine from when I was a kid. It would be a fun refinishing project. Cam, it really turned out great! Thank you!

Safety first is great as long as you are not made blind by your efforts, Sir. Love your videos and your humor.
Safety First! 😊. Your finished work looks absolutely amazing. Thank you for the idea of the nano coating for the wood stock.
That stock looks gorgeous. Also metal workers are like woodworkers in the hoarding department. I have so many small offcuts of steel, aluminium, copper, brass and even a little Damascus bits
Safely first, another outstanding job you have done. Im 61 and I still have my daisy BB gun. Now im thinking about restoring mine.
Safety First, Cam!!! I loved what you've done here. The final finish really came up well!
Safety first, great little project. Means nothing but sure is fun. Keep on keepin on...
This must've been such a nostalgic and fun project!!! Really enjoyed watching this restoration video.

Safety first and your BB Gunn looks fabulous!!
Thank you🤗
I think it looks friggin great! Keep doing what makes you happy and folks like me will keep watching.
Safety first, who else would love if this channel started doing load of firearm restoration, that would be awesome.
Safety Third - This is the level of ridiculous that keeps me coming back! This really turned out nice.
Safety last. Another Blacktail gem.
Safety First, Safety Third, Just Safety is important.
Great restoration project and childhood memory, my dad gave me his Daisy when I was young.
Had lots of fun with it 😁
Awesome build, and nice shooting! A lot of people close one eye but its better to keep them both open as you demonstrated.

Safety first! I think your restoration of that BB gun is great! As far as I'm concerned, if you're happy with your work, then it was a success!
Safety first.. man this was a whole lot nicer Daisy then what I had as a kid. Mine was all plastic except for the barrel and was also a pump. I had to pump that sucker up 10 times to get it to punch a whole in a soda can. Great reminiscing

Safety first.
Beautiful Job as always. You're gonna gain the envy of everyone in the 80's BB gun owners club!!!!
Safety First! Great job and not faked like a lot of other people do.
Safety First! I've got a few rifles that you've just encouraged me to "restore". Rather, to make look better than original. Thank you.
Safety First!!! lol well done. Knowing the N3 Nano is good on wood and metal is game changing. Thanks!
Safety first. I smiled with the extra layers of PPE and with this type of weapon there is no explosive propulsion of material burning but is the release of a measure volume of compressed air, with just a simple spring providing the compressed air. I enjoy your videos of either building something new or restoring (e.g. the Japanese blade restoration). Rgds J 😊
DUDE!!!.......you did an excellent job on that gun.
beautiful work.........my compliments!
This a first for me. I’ve seen many high grade shotgun’s stocked with European walnut but never a BB gun. I’m envious !!!
SAFETY FIRST. Gonna get started on my "DAISY" today.
Safety First - this was awesome. Always wanted to try it on some old guns. Love your content!
