I have a few go sun products as well as some other ovens and was looking at doing the same test...just glad yall did it so i didnt have to spend the money. Im glad you showed off the competitors instead of just say "ours is the best" excellent video
Right. The sun oven website for example says everytime the door is opened 15 minutes should be added to the cooking time. Likely it is just reaching cooking temperature in this video and then it keeps getting opened up and resetting the temperature.
THE BEST comparison video. All cooking the same dish, in the same outside conditions, at the same time, and showing temp readings. You can't deny the Gosun Sport's greatness regardless if this is a Gosun video. He even put the cornbread into the Gosuns last, that's confidence in your product. 🙌🏾
Do the losers have videos with different results? I had a cook-off with Sun Oven on a partly sunny day, and my GoSun Sport and GoSun Go ran circles around them.
Since gosun go is not included in this test, do you think it cooks faster than gosun sport? I mean since sport cooks faster than fusion and go is even smaller...
@@terezqua I have 4 GoSun Go's, 1Sport, and 1Fusion... the Go's have a slightly smaller diameter tube than the Sport... I have baked eggs in shells in both the the Go and Sport... the Sport loads regular large eggs easily... the Go can take smaller large eggs if the tray is replaced with just the cap... the Sport can load 4 frozen corndogs, the Go can load 2 frozen corndogs... the Sport is a tiny bit faster than the Go. Not a whole lot of difference... I have used pairs of Go's for frozen corndogs and cooking in half to one hour depending on weather... the Go can keep food warm for hours... and it is easier to deploy a Go. A Go style shell for a Sport would be a nice upgrade in Sport design. As far as the panel cookers in the test... I did DYI funnel cookers before I ever bought my GoSun cookers... I knew not to open them before you smell the food smelling done...opening them can double the time it takes to cook...easily. I did start using a Pyrex bubble and handle less black sauce pans... for things like stews... a couple Pyrex pie plates and a black frozen lasagna in them... I did brown the lasagna more than intended. But cooking time tended to be a couple hours... but the cost was less than $50... that was a first step to GoSun and beyond... it may cost thousands, but I can do PV induction solar cooking...
You'd need more than one to cook everything in the meal instead of doing each part one after the other. Fiendishly clever marketing tool. Now,cook Grandma's recipes using the solar ovens. With her watching, just to amp up the challenge.
With a paraboloid mirror grill, you need a lid. Otherwise, you incinerate the bottom, and don't cook the top. Frying would work, except, there might be a spattering problem. Eye and hand protection is necessary. For a wide variety of volumes and shapes, a large paraboloid mirror/grill with lidded pots is best. For small meals and portability, go-sun sport is apparently best.
I own the Sun oven and the GoSun as well. Sun oven is for the family meal and GoSun is for one person. If you open the Sun Oven every 15 minutes, it takes a long time for the Sun Oven bring up the temperature. That is not fair for the Sun Oven
Black pots with black or glass lids. The thinner the metall, the faster. Black pottery pots, starting in a cold box-type oven take longer but also hold heat longer. Black enamelled pots work fine, too. Looks like he also uses some black silicone tupperware pots - I have no experience with those, though. Very interesting experiment to me, as I am interested in something that will cook food, might also bake and of course boil water but be safe and easy enough to handle and clean for either an older person or someone with "clumsy, twitchy" fingers.
Most i think not hot enough for meat. 8:34 seems like those tubes with outer vaccum holding heat get hotter and maybe could be maximized to above the 250 F he read here. Maybe ?
The price is proportional to quality... as usually. Maybe the priority is to eat a cooked (not burned) meal in the littlest time ;) GO SUN seems the best, also thanks to reduced dimensions and easy way of cooking.
What is the gosun reflector made from ? I was thinking of building a solar oven with a vacuum tube , until I discovered that they are already made. Great idea ! So portable and the critters can't get at my grub . plus high heat. Sweet 😎
the worse things about the sport is getting the food out in a decent looking manner, the inability to keep the flavor separate even when using foil separation between things, No real cooking trays for it (the little silicone muffin cup things don't work for most things) I've used it a few times and I have to rate it as Great to have as an emergency back up but merely OK for normal use...not a first choice. I would probably be happier with the old grill or the new fusion as the cooking area seems better suited for actual meals instead of amusing picnics. abusing the box oven by constantly opening it is like abuse a slow cooker by constantly opening it. It ruins the cooking. I've never used the parabolic.
I do wonder about the Sport one, so this is good to know. I'd probably use them side by side: the box oven for the stew-type meals that do start to smell of rice or vegies when they are done and the glass misting up a bit is another good sign, and the Sport maybe for frying cut up meat, baking bread rolls in the silicone forms, or boiling water fast?
The solar ovens that had.. 130 degrees? Might as well just put the food on the dash with the windows up. I am an avid supporter of GoSun and have accumulated many of their products, after watching this, looks like i need to add a GoSun Sport to complete my Overlanding/Glamping setup. I love the fusion because if you have electricity to use like the GoSun Powerbank or just your car battery, you can dual fuel it and decrease the warm up time... (with some caution as it is not advised on sunny days and clouds are always moving where i live) can i post a 15% off coupon for you? AMBASV will get that for you. We have had AMAZING family experiences with Patrick’s innovative climate combating devices and you should too! (If FUNds allow)
Do I detect a hint of vested interest in gosun products? The Guerilla Grazing guy AARON with the 4 sheep and a trailer swears by his go sun... He uses it every single day ! I want one. what's the shower go sun like?
In conclusion: Solar cooking works in arid, fuel deficient desert climates when the sun is shining mid day. Provided the adoptees can switch their entire work / family existence around eating hot food during daylight hours, It'll be a massive hit.........
I have a few go sun products as well as some other ovens and was looking at doing the same test...just glad yall did it so i didnt have to spend the money. Im glad you showed off the competitors instead of just say "ours is the best" excellent video
Yeah I couldn't even tell gosun was doing the video until I read this comment. The dude genuinely acts like he wants the other ones to work.
Hrm. I'm pretty sure opening up all the containers every 15 minutes is going to have a different and drastic impact on the various cookers.
Right. The sun oven website for example says everytime the door is opened 15 minutes should be added to the cooking time. Likely it is just reaching cooking temperature in this video and then it keeps getting opened up and resetting the temperature.
Exactly.they lose heat everytime their opened
dont care the sport is one i got ..aint used it yet.. and it came up first done in 15 minutes that just rocks... lol
This is the best comparison video. Thank You very much. it changed my buying selection.
Awesome, we are so glad to hear that this video helped!

We thought so too! It was a fun experiment!
At least he didn't do the "Here's one that we prepared earlier for our studio audience" bit.
It showed me you CAN overcook in them. I am not eating any of those results.
I've been looking at the Go Sun to add to my van life. This video helped. 😊🚚
Great to see a clear, fair and honest test comparison. Kudos to you.
Thank you!
Excellent real world comparison. I really appreciate this type of video.
thank you for your feedback
A GoSun video and the Gosun wins. Well, surprise surprise!

Compare apple to Orange, some cooker use glass ware, some use metal
A Great Video that is going to really help us decide on a Solar Oven.. Thanks & Thumbs Up !
We appreciate the support!

Nice demo.
Thank you for doing that comparison. Vacuum tube oven seems the best
you're welcome
Great real world review. Thanks!
Very interesting...my big question would be are they all cooking the same volume of cornbread?
They all were cooking the same volume!
Thank you for responding!
yes, different pans though. The SolSource probably needed to use a Cast Iron pan to avoid burning.
Thanks for a very nice comparison.
Patrick, the Sol Source would have worked better had you put a cover on that pan.
Probably needed cast iron with a lid.
so the gosun sport for cooking and the sol source for boiling and frying
Love my gosun sport.
Very well done 👍
thank you for your feedback
American sun oven can cook larger amounts and multiple pans. Sun oven my choice…hiking would be the go sun for portability.
I own the Sun oven and the GoSun as well. Sun oven is for the family meal and GoSun is for one person. If you open the Sun Oven every 15 minutes, it takes a long time for the Sun Oven bring up the temperature. That is not fair for the Sun Oven
Are there larger sport vacuum tube ovens..?
Yeah, the Fusion.
Thanks. This is really, really helpful! Any tips for pots?
It looks like he's using whatever was in the kitchen so maybe it doesn't matter what cooking pot is used.

Parabolic cooker is best if you want to sear meat. The larger the better.
It seems like the ones that focuses too much heat are more effective , not the flat mirrors ones
Dark colored pots heat up better under the sun than glass bakeware. This could affect the result.
Have you checked out the Nichols Tracking Solar Oven?
Of note, you should have used black non shiny pots for the experiment. They heat up best. The petal type needs a cover. Etc. Many mistakes.
I’m planning a trip to mars in the next few years, any recommendations on which cooker I should get?
The price is proportional to quality... as usually.

GO SUN seems the best, also thanks to reduced dimensions and easy way of cooking.
One vital point: you've put different amounts of the mixture in & I don't think there was any attemp to track the sun.
Too bad SolSource parabolics are no longer available. Would like to have one
They were not cheap either unlike the Chinese knock offs, Fusion is still pretty expensive too. Yet, more affordable than before.
not a fair test because the pan sizes are not the same
true
How could the silicon forms not be included with the GoSun Sport? Kinda ridiculous 😪
Hey there, we will reach out to our sales team about this!
What is the gosun reflector made from ? I was thinking of building a solar oven with a vacuum tube , until I discovered that they are already made. Great idea ! So portable and the critters can't get at my grub . plus high heat. Sweet 😎
Probably SS as I recall.

you could make the panel cooker better buy adding double glass bowls to it and do the test again
Its sad that these products are not available in India
we can ship!
@@GoSunSolar if we import we has to pay huge tax.. Better option is manufacturing in India.. I sure you have huge market in India..
With the hot pot if that had been wrapped in a clear turkey cooking bag that would have helped.
Thanks for the advice!
Should have put some hot dogs in the middle of the corn muffin mix in the go sun solar cooker to get a giant corny dog !
for your corny jokes

They have new model that is the Sport with a Fusion style tray. You might want to wait for it.

I think if all the pans had the same depth they would have cooked.

80 degrees is October, it is 40 degrees here in October.
I see what you did there GoSun. You put your products last so theyde have more time to cook compared to the competition 😉

So, they are all utterly useless?
Mostly, some certainly were.
