That's a wonderful FX unit but man, something kinda funny to me using an FX unit that costs nearly 3x the synth it's connected to. I think I"ll be using my MS-70CDR for a few more years before I can think about something like this 😅
That price comparison is irrelevant and erroneous, H90 wouldn't even be wasted if used on a wee little cheap Volca FM - good effects cost money, and Eventide's various algorithms rolled into one unit will clearly be expensive.
Excellent idea about a firmware update to allow the H90 to act as a mixer for 4xmono inputs, 2x mono and 1 x stereo or 2x stereo. This would make the H90 a instant purchase for me. Also, I would like to say that I wish these multi effect pedals had headphone outs. As I enjoy playing and exploring with very small setups running from a usb power bank. Exactly my point...I had the H9000 for a while and loved meddling in algorithms myself. But this is targeted to guitarists who seemed to be overwhelmed with the classic H90 app already, so they did not want to get into the support business one needs to provide if VSIG is open to all. I asked if we could see a 4 algo,2CPU rack unit in the future or a paid for VSIG and both was answered with maybe :)
👍 as always. well... I have two H9s, first was for my guitars pedal board the second for my synth rig... but both ended up on my board. I wasn't feelin it with the effects on top of synth patches, it was too much, what do I program then, my effects or my synth patch? pre and post H9's for my guitar is definitely doing it for me. also, while the H9 is hard to program, it's not impossible and in a year of having my first H9 I pretty much forgot about the software. This is a fantastic seeming pedal but I don't think there's anything here for me.
2 H9s here and a Space, I prefer the Space due to knob per function, not a fan of having to use the Ipad to control the H9s, it's added expense and cumbersome. SP-H9 is a great pedal to change hot knob in performances. I can appreciate what the 90 does, just that I already have 1 H9 Max and 1 core which is upgraded to a Max for free. I will still check this out as you can never have enough pedals, thx for the upload.
@@WackyJackyTracky I posted an answer and it was removed for some reason. You need an app then connect via Blu Tooth and it will see the specific device, then you put in a 4 digit code from memory. It's very easy, BUT it changes how you interact with the H9 for sure. I have 2 IPADs btw.
Such a lush pedal - question, I have an Analog Four MK2 and Digitone - would I need an external mixer to connect the H90, A4 and Digitone so I can utilise the headphone outputs? I have no external monitors, space is short and sound/noise needs to be kept to a minimum - small house!
Worth mentioning eventide maxed out all h9 pedals b4 announcing this… for free :) And if you have a computer you effectively have 2 h9 already, how you ask… eventide include a free copy of all algorithms for pc and Mac if you own any h9
H9 max has been on my wishlist for a while, well now it isn't, and i'm glad I waited. Thought that 1 H9 would probably lead to wanting 2, now here they are in a single package. Routing options are great. Looking forward to coupling this up with a 1010music blackbox and some midi keys for a really fun playground.
The pricing on this is horrible...If you're going to charge me $899.99USD then 4 more knobs (above display) and the ability to chain together 4 effects while processing up to 4 independent audio signals (as opposed to only 2) would make this worth the price of admission. HARD PASS
Think of it like this..... this is a Strymon BigSky, Volante, Timeline, Mobius, Dig, Flint, Zelzah, Sunset, Deco, El Capistan, Lex, Brigadier, Orbit, Ola, and some of the NightSky, all in one box. It holds its own and often surpasses (in multiple areas) things like the Line 6 Helix, Boss GT-1000, and the Fractal Audio stuff. Really, it is great value for money and if Eventide support it for years and years to come with firmware updates, then really I don't see the price as a con, nor am I put off by it. I ordered mine instantly, and am digging into it and loving it.
I have one. Absolutely the best sounding lush effects out there. A nightmare to learn to operate. It's more suited for studio work than a pedal board. Especially for that price.
It pretty much already is a synth. They really should have included some oscillators so that you could just plug in a midi controller and play it. Maybe not the worlds most interesting synth but they’re already 95% of the way there, might as well go all the way - especially give the steep price.
Would to love to see a comparison on the H90 Max and Boss GT-1000 Core. No matter how attempt to dial in the GT-1000, I still can't get the spacious reverb of the Eventide.
Eventide soaked everyone for one or two H9s with the H90 planned... Pretty underhanded... I refuse to buy anything from this money-grubbing company... ☹️
Only hesitating on this cos I have the eventide space, a great stereo delay & already set on getting the meris lvx. The pitch stuff would be nice & I know it can do so much more but I’m spoilt for pedals, tbh I prefer external routing & it’s a lot to pay if I don’t need the reverb & delay! There I think I’ve successfully talked myself out of it 😃 Now excuse me while I go and consider the merits of a dual digitakt setup 😂
How is the MIDI CC implementation? Past H9's were pretty spotty in this respect. If I wanted to use this with an Elektron device using lots of P-Locks, how well would this work? I also can't find CC mappings in the user manual online. Do you know where I could find this info?
I didn't have the manual as of the making of this video, but as far as I know there are no preset mappings at all, rather, just like I assign the hotknob to a parameter in the video, you can assign a MIDI CC to a parameter (or a hotknob). So, it should work well (up to 128 parameters I guess), you just need to make the assignments manually, or use the built-in MIDI learn for the default Elektron CCs
Hello, I have configured it to receive midi. It receives midi from an external controller but does not harmonize based on said controller, but rather continues to harmonize according to the scales and keys of the parameters of the eventide itself. What is the solution? thank you

Hi @loopop thanks for the video, once again, you're the "human user manual" ❤😄 I agree with you about the 3 knobs being nice even if it would have been even better to enjoy a line of 4 or a second line of 3 for 6 knobs in total, that's clear. There's one con you didn't mention, don't know what you think about it: the integration with laptops is good with the USB-C port but the Eventide software seems to be standalone. It would have been better to see an AU/VST version of it as well, in order to make automations on our DAW. Like Overbridge on the Elektron world. 😉
Thanks! Since you asked what I think, personally, it's not in my workflow to do that for this or the Elektron gear (which I like a lot standalone), but that's what I love about the comment section - for people who think differently so thanks for the comment.
It seems like a fantastic upgrade to the H9 and a pedal I really want to try in my setup. I just wish (and perhaps this is too much to ask for) that, over USB, I could use the algorithms inside of my DAW while the pedal is connected to my Mac (a sort of Virus TI2 type situation). That would open up a world of possibilities to me that I would otherwise have to bake in during recording. Or use as part of a send on an established track. Maybe it's something they can add down the road. Maybe it's only something I want. Ha! Regardless, it'd make this an instant buy for me. As it is, I still want it, but as I'm mostly a studio musician, I feel like I won't get as much out of this pedal because of the nature of my workflow. Still. Sounds amazing. Great review, as always.
@@abeteezy I get that. But since the pedal is fully digital, shouldn’t it make sense to be able to use it as both a real time audio processor and a plug-in over usb inside a daw? That's a wonderful FX unit but man, something kinda funny to me using an FX unit that costs nearly 3x the synth it's connected to. I think I"ll be using my MS-70CDR for a few more years before I can think about something like this 😅
That price comparison is irrelevant and erroneous, H90 wouldn't even be wasted if used on a wee little cheap Volca FM - good effects cost money, and Eventide's various algorithms rolled into one unit will clearly be expensive.
Get the plug-ins on Black Friday if you’re a producer.
I guess this means the H9 Max I currently have listed for sale just tanked in value 🤦♂️
Yea
$900??😱I'm sorry but that's insane.
Thanks for the video as always. ✌️
For most of the video I was wondering the same thing! Hope they do it.
Yes, and also allow 3 stereo ins + 1 stereo out
Do we know if this was ever offered in an update?
Amazing presentation as always!
I wish they released a VSig3 version that's compatible with this. Would open the door to nearly endless possibilities.
For 1200 euro I would prefer to buy a synthesizer. This isn't for me, but it sounds awesome as the H9 or the cheaper Blackhole does.
How do you connect your iPad with the H9s?
Has the promotion been brought back? I haven’t seen any information regarding the free plugins, apart from the 2020 promo 🤔
@@ren3ran3 Sorry, no this was an old promotion that is no longer active.
what would be a betteroption, this or the Zoia?
H9 max has been on my wishlist for a while, well now it isn't, and i'm glad I waited. Thought that 1 H9 would probably lead to wanting 2, now here they are in a single package. Routing options are great. Looking forward to coupling this up with a 1010music blackbox and some midi keys for a really fun playground.
.... And yes for 1300 euro in Europe ahahaha..... Insane pricing ! Very bad !
It’s not exactly two H9 in one box, it’s more powerful than that!
@@PelicansCourtsideClub I don’t know of any pedal that’s as powerful as the H90.
Even a single algorithm of the H9 can be so powerful.
I'll stick to my 3 Zoom MS70cdr, they do pretty much the same, and I dare anyone to blind test them next to the Eventide :-) I had the H9 for ages.
I love the H90. I have it as a cue fx in the octatrack and it’s very inspiring even just browsing the presets
Nice , who needs another pricy synth
You got me hooked once you played where I end and you begin intro by Radiohead!!!! As always amazing videos and thanks for your hard work
Thanks! an unintentional cover - I was just noodling but likely a subconscious influence :)
Id love this as a eurorack module... I wonder if the addac granular comes close.. anyone know a module that would produce similar effects
The pricing on this is horrible...If you're going to charge me $899.99USD then 4 more knobs (above display) and the ability to chain together 4 effects while processing up to 4 independent audio signals (as opposed to only 2) would make this worth the price of admission. HARD PASS
Same price as CXM 1978 bro
i agree, apparently it has the DSP for 4 algorithms but eventide only allows you to really use 2 at a time.
Eventide should produce a synth
It pretty much already is a synth. They really should have included some oscillators so that you could just plug in a midi controller and play it. Maybe not the worlds most interesting synth but they’re already 95% of the way there, might as well go all the way - especially give the steep price.
but if you really must, get a Behringer MS-1 and you've got oscillators
I’ve finally found the one and only effect I will buy.
Thank you.
Just finished watching Sweetwaters take on this unit... 20mins... now for the real in depth view!!! Awesome 👊🧡👍
For $100 more you can buy a Fractal FM3 that is 5000 better. Anyways, I love your channel.
But does the FM3 play well with synth input levels?
Holy GAS Batman. In less than two minutes I'm wondering how I've lived without this magicbox for so long haha
Wow. Sure turns the already impressive microfreak into a colossal beast. This 'pedal' is epic.
Would to love to see a comparison on the H90 Max and Boss GT-1000 Core. No matter how attempt to dial in the GT-1000, I still can't get the spacious reverb of the Eventide.
Sounds good, but it's really expensive for only 2 stacked effects
Eventide soaked everyone for one or two H9s with the H90 planned... Pretty underhanded... I refuse to buy anything from this money-grubbing company... ☹️
They released the H9 about 10 years ago - Talk about a long con!
1200 euro .. what the heck are they high on .. not in 1200 years !
There I think I’ve successfully talked myself out of it 😃
Now excuse me while I go and consider the merits of a dual digitakt setup 😂
What is the solution?
thank you
The Line 6 multi-effects seem more useful for live use but maybe people hear an advantage in the H90 effects.
This is more of a synth with external audio only rather than a mere effects processor...
Now the Amedeo-Bass-Shim sounds great. All the excuses for not buying an H9 have been dealt with thoroughly. Your demo is the BEST I've seen on YT. Great work LooPop... don't forget to like and subscribe!
interface looks massively updated. have an eventide space for the knobs (so not H9) and Strymon big sky, timeline and mobius.
still watching the video... looking promising so far. thanks for this in-depth video
Which one offers more, big sky or h90?
@bulentkamali h90 offers much more beyond reverb
Thankyou! I got frustrated with H9 and was able to return it. This does the crazy little things I need. Ordered mine today.
Great review, as always.
eventide has already released alot of these effects as plugins! if you have the $$$
@@abeteezy I get that. But since the pedal is fully digital, shouldn’t it make sense to be able to use it as both a real time audio processor and a plug-in over usb inside a daw? (Didn’t the H9 do that to some degree?) maybe it’s a feature in there somewhere. But to buy the pedal and the VST plugin seems like unnecessary double dipping.
Transition time is a huge upgrade. It convinced me to return my fresh Beebo for the H90.
@@acidlab9586 very good point. However, and maybe I’m wrong, but isn’t possible to customize algorithms’ parameters on the H90 and save them as user presets? Anyway, as you perfectly state it, Zoia and Beebo are different beasts!
@@acidlab9586 I see. Yes it makes great sense, many thanks.
@@acidlab9586 this resume how I see the H90 too. I’m about to think that’s more what I’m looking for.
I never own an Evertide pedal. How’s the sound compare to the Zoia or the Beebo - with a similar reverb for example?
Europe Thomann price 1199€ soooo nevermind
este processador de efeitos transforma o som de qualquer instrumento para outro nível!!!!!!
Your first example sounded just like the beginning of “It Is Accomplished” by Peter Gabriel on the Last Temptation of Christ soundtrack.
Can any 2 effects be ran simultaneously? Reverb and delay? Chorus and reverb? Etc.
As far as I remember yes
Hmm sorry but no cigar.. Meris LVX is where my money might go...
Not really a comparison here is there lol, but good luck!
@@vaiman7777 what do you mean? Both pedals are white with lots of knobs ,switches and display.. And they make funny noises.. And they cost like small laptop. :)
but one of them makes sounds nicer to my ears...
@@markolijus One is a delay
@@markolijus one is a multi-stomp and the other is just a delay, no comparison
@@Jason75913 it is not just a delay. You can turn delay part off, and use bitcrusher, preamps, pitch shifting, granulize , cassette, dl4 type looper etc.. elements from meris enzo, hedra that can be used without delay.
IK Multimedia UNO Synth + a Zoom MS70 CDR is a bad alternative option for our poor people ? Ahahaha :P (In EU price is 1299 euro)
Uno Pro sounds much, much better than the older Uno
Love it, and great video.
Started watch...looked good...checked price....stopped watching! Maybe in 10 years I'll pick one up on eBay!
How do you think the effects quality on
this compares to the line 6 helix products like Line 6 Helix HX stomp and helix LT?
I've not tried them
Love your videos. Thanks for this super helpful information and incredibly in-depth review. Keep looping. Keep popping.
🙌🏻🙏🏻
agreed, that mixer functionality suggestion would be IMMENSE
Need help. I have the same setup now. Microfreak out goes into the H90 input1. I use a stereo cable. When I connect my headphone to Output 1, I don't get a stereo sound. I hear the sound from the right side of my headphones. how should I connect my headphone to hear stereo?
Just use a mono cable
Really cool, but holy smokes, a $1000 dollar pedal. (in my market)
After wanting these for over 10 years, I finally recently bought a Strymon Big Sky, Mobius and Timeline. I didn't know this existed... so I'm also going to now save for one of these H90s and then control it all with a GigRig G3S. I don't think I would need anything else ever 😂
I might also die from not eating and not leaving my studio because it is so amazing!
😂
I'm glad I held out against the H9 Max. I've had the H90 for 6 days, sound is mind-blowing, it's amazing what this unit can do in terms of MIDI & programming...
love the setup I have w 2 H9's and an Evenmidi controller, but the internal routing on this is insane! Very tempted to downsize my setup to a single one of these. great informative video as usual @loopop , thanks!
I went to buy a Evenmidi and they're not available, what a shame.
@@dankeplace i feel like a lot of smaller makers are getting hung out by chip shortages unfortunately. wonder if theyre even producing any more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good to know other people went with the H9 also. Can't wait till it gets here!
1.199 € ....ridiculous!
Wow that's a nice bit of electronics hardware..with a great review, as always a pleasure to watch even thow I have no interest in buying .
Waiting for Behringer's affordable version. 😎
Check their Plethora X5 and X3… (Behringer owns TC Electronic) very nicely priced multi fx pedals. But the firmware isn’t there yet (no midi clock sync yet and they didn’t use endless encoders). I feel Eventide is a bit more advanced though and it depends on what your needs are. Still worth checking out perhaps.
@@skullhqx Ok, but 1200€ for such pedal? No, thanks.
Nice - how do u feel this stacks up against the Microcosm, as i was just about to buy one - clearly this is more pricey, but seems like a similarly interesting sonic shaping solution
They're very different I think, Microcosm is certainly one of my faves. Both can do things the other can't but it feels like what H90 can do that Microcosm can't is more diverse, if that sentence makes sense...
@@loopop Makes perfect sence. Thanks for taking the time to reply on this point. Really appreciate it. I've made many new purchases based on your reviews over the years so really respect your opinion Both it is ! :D
BRAVO 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Excellent video! Definitely helped my decision making 🫡
Did they just put the H9-PlugIns-Algos into a box? I dont get the hype, as if this a new huge invention of eventide. I know I know two fx at the same time...👏
