    This is SO much better than the demos using guitar! I was torn between this multi-unit and a Big Sky/Timeline combo, but this vid has sold me on the H9 Max! I was concerned about the software interface being clunky or crippling, but seeing this demo cleared it up and removed any concerns. Thank you.

      After a year, how do you feel about that software interface/digital feeling of the H9? I am also making the same Strymon vs H9 choice now...

    • @in_10z
      @in_10z 3 роки тому +2

      @@TheRealAudioDidact I love the H9. I use my smartphone and tablet to control it. A little picky with the Bluetooth but eventually got all the kinks worked out. My only complaint is there are too many choices and parameters lol. Kind of makes it feel like a plug in. The onboard controls are minimal and I never use them to be honest. So if you dont want to be tied to your phone, tablet, or PC, the H9 may not be for you. If you want a do it all efx processor with great quality sound then yes it's a keeper.

    Nice...glad to see this highlighted for synths. It's a great tool. Liked my first one so much (H9 Max), I bought a second one (H9 Core), which was cost-effective because I could then use all the algorithms from the Max in either one. I'm not crazy about needing an iPad or computer to do deep edits, but it's a fair exchange to keep the footprint small.

    Moden day question: H9 Max, Mod Duo X, or Empress Zoia? The Zoia seems much more deep / programming / tweak focused. Mod Duo seems in the middle, and the H9 seems ready, usable but customizable.

    Matrixbrute’s such a beast, and the h9 such a beauty. One thing that drives me crazy when you explained the midi mapping, that means that you can sequence the h9 from the matrix of the arturia, with its sequencer lfo’s etc and create a step sequenced fx line on top of the MB sounds , while a dfam is clocked by the MB , since there’s a sync cv out on the MB patchbay.......i have to try this tonight.

    • @reaktiv1408
      @reaktiv1408 6 років тому +1

    • @thom-alphaxiii-5106
      @thom-alphaxiii-5106 6 років тому

      don't have have h9 but i got pedals with midi, not sure if it's only midi sync, but i'll try for sure . but the same process should be interesting also with fx vst's dont you think?

    • @reaktiv1408
      @reaktiv1408 6 років тому +1

      THOM AlphaXIII that would be awesome but I don't think that's possible by using the step sequencer mod row. It sends midi messages but how to link them to lets say ableton automation or a vst parameter?

    • @thom-alphaxiii-5106
      @thom-alphaxiii-5106 6 років тому

      really don't know yet , was thinking of mapping knobs of the MB front panel to vst's parameters ,and then sequence that same knob on the matrix, macro knobs for instance ? LOOPOP , HELP!!!!!! ^^

    • @loopop
      @loopop  6 років тому +3

      To the rescue! Yes of course you can sequence the H9 with a midi sequencer or a daw. You can also control its parameters with MIDI. Regarding sequencing from the Matrixbrute - using what - the mod row in the sequencer? Even if so that would only be one parameter. A Digitone/Pyramid/DAW etc would be more appropriate for that - and yes you could record the motions into a daw from the MB

    I bought aH9Max years ago.... it’s in my effects loop of my main guitar rig, it’s totally insane. I sometimes use a small practice amp because I know ill play around with the H9 too much instead of practicing. It’s just crazy fun. And Eventide keeps sending free new algorithms Hotsawz and the Harpaggeator were the two last. Awesome, the pedal that keeps getting better.

    • @seancraig5373
      @seancraig5373 4 роки тому

      yes-it still seems like an issue that you get 1 pedal & 1 effect at a time, even if that pedal is the 1 to "rule them all"

    • @Daphoid
      @Daphoid 4 роки тому

      @@seancraig5373 Not cheap, but if you buy one of the pedals, your license actually allows you to buy the "core" pedal, and license it as a Max so you have more than one.
      So you could buy 1 H9 Max, then buy a core later and add it to your account, having two maxes.

    I was gonna get some of the TC Electronic plugins with usb controllers instead of the H9 but it seems like a few H9’s will do all that and more. If you buy one fully loaded H9 you can get up to 3 more base units that will have access to all of the algorithms. 4 H9’s will cost about the same as the TC Electronic plugins but be vastly more flexible and wonderful. So thanks for helping me make the right choice...

    I'm turning around quality effects for my synths for months years may be, around this one in particular…
    It's a big investment but if I add a couple of Strymon or Meris pedals to obtain a quite similar set up in term of quality, I don't get the quantity, only the chaining ability…

Is it the possib to chain some algos at a time ? I cant think that a top player in the market like eventide would push an product out of market. Second regarding the maxibrute: beeing hyped as a very big one, a bolide, etc it is now very quiet with the „bolide“ living low in the shadow of prologue, prophet-x, quantum and all above moog one (sic!) ?

    is it possible to push LFOs from hardware synths to H9 effects parameters? that would be a cool thing if possible

      it accepts MIDI and you could send CV using the expression input if you got the voltage and wiring right

    Hello Loopop, do you plug your synth directly in the H9? Or do you connect it through a loop mixer?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  Рік тому

      yes directly, just make sure levels aren't too high so you don't clip

    Can it be tempo synced to modular via something like Pamela’s new workout midi expansion?

    Can you use the Pitchfactor and Timefactor to bounce back specific frequencies of your choice, e.g. whole number multiples of the fundamental, i.e. the overtone series?

    Great review as always thanks. I’m wondering how you can sync H9 patch changes with other midi pedals/synths - or another H9. The H9 app seems to have a good live set list patch changing feature. If it translates across other midi capable devices I’d be sold on it.

      Gareth Thomas thanks! Sorry for sending you to the manual but I haven’t tried. I doubt it doesn’t respond to program changes

    I would love to see this unit in VST plugin. As far as I know they only have Black Hole delay. And with a controller like this unit would be fun.

    I'm not going to carry an iPad with me along with the synth and pedal. Am I limited if I don't use the app or can I access all the algorithms and modify them to suit?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  2 роки тому

      You can edit all the parameters on any of the 99 algorithms you load onto the pedal

    • @gevansmd1
      @gevansmd1 2 роки тому

      @@loopop to make sure, I can access all the algorithms and make changes within the pedal itself without using the app?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  2 роки тому

      @@gevansmd1 as far as I remember- no you can’t access all the algorithms from the pedal, just the ones you place on the pedal. Once you do, you can edit their parameters any way you like. However, I don’t think there are more than 99 algorithms so you can place one of each on the pedal and edit their parameters
