Eventide H90 kinda blew my mind

- Eventide H90 is a multi-effects unit with some incredible sounding algorithms. I don't usually feature multi-fx devices like the Eventide H90 on my channel, but this one sounded really, really good, and for the amount of stuff you can do, it's not much of a menu-dive!
Thanks so much to Eventide for sending me the H90! ♡

So sad that reverse + blackhole preset wasnt named back hole
eloh kcab
Hehehheehe back hole
For playing bum notes obviously
@@PhillipRaymondGoodman underrated response!
Reversehole is clearly for the UK audience. Rev-Arsehole.
I am so happy you're in the upper stratum of demo peeps who get to announce new pedals - way deserved!
Thanks so much! It's really fun to be a part of so many amazing pedal releases! Thanks for being here :)
Every demo here was really inspiring!
Thanks so much!
Pretty cool demo, Em & Russ! It still looks like too menu-divey for me but it really sounded great on your demo!
That last one was *chef's kiss*
This is what this unit was made for! Wow. I could listen to this for hours.
Too late, I'm ALREADY subscribed. Ha! I love how that came out of nowhere, lol. Fun sounding presets, though.
Boglin time is my favorite time. Thanks for this awesome vid.
Very iconic and intriguing, no doubt. Also, that custom neon sign that says custom neon sign...? Absolutely dapper- 👌🏻✨️💯
my favorite pedal. its the best.
Should've used Spicy Em for the sweaty.
So nice and kind explanation and your music is simply amazing!
That’s it , I’m finally going to get harp ! and well done demo 👍
Eventide makes some very nice pedals.
I have been putting off watching this vid because I knew it would be awesome. Damn you! Now I want it!
woooow that theme @4:21 is just superb ...im gonna work on it on guitar 🙏
.......it's such a modern fusion sound 💎 is that your creation ?
Just gotta say how cute of a couple you guys are. Love your vids! Your adorable Emily!
These are some really atmospheric sounds that would be great in a video game! When are you going to be able to reveal what video game soundtrack you have been working on?
The photoshop pedals in the beginning lol. The H90 sounds so trippy and dreamy. Really interesting. 🤔 Have you ever tried the Hologram Electronics Infinite Jets Resynthesizer? I think it would sound cool on the harp. Unless you’ve tried it already. 🤷🏻♂️
🎯love love love love it :)
Thanks Billy!
Oh, hey now. A HOT switch. 🍜
That synthy filter sweep makes you sound Moogy-like.
1000 pounds here in the UK. Bit much, but its bloody awesome!
Cute Axolotl necklace 😀 (and awesome sounds!)
I'm still waiting for the Oddtide ;_;
😂
🏆✨
Hey Emily - a bunch of the H90 algos are on sale as VSTs at the moment, which would you recommend? I was looking for a good shimmer but found a couple of amazing free ones? Crystal could be interesting.
Thanks for your helpful videos. I’m looking to upgrade my K&K twin piezo in my harp. What’s you reccomend?
My goodness, this pedal is so versatile! Will it have a space on your pedal board?
Second -channel- pedal board??😏

i would love to see a cover of Is It Really You? by Loathe on harp tbh
Hey @emilyharpist !
Could we have the ending track on your bandcamp one day?

Ok, cool--now we need you to produce an 11 track 90 minute downloadable recording of you putting this thingamajig through its paces for $25/download. Round up Russ and that drummer and let your hair down! Yup. Darn tootin', I'd buy that!
Waiting on a song collab with Adam Neely and 66Samus
Good golly, I'd pay money to see that
Oh, hey. The new nose ring.
Looks good.
Finally someone noticed it! Haha thanks so much Mr Flibble!
I have a high Passive Perception.
This sounded beautiful! I loved the reversehole effect. And now I picture Russ walking around with a big bag of pedals in case you ever need a specific one
😆 now I picture that as well. Epic
That "Knife Drop" setting was the best distortion I have you use on your harp! Didn't Eventide invent the first digital delay? But at $900, I pay a little more for a AX Effects or Helix LT.
The demo about halfway through with the drummer is big "The Album Leaf" vibes.
Preset dives are always puts me off multieffects pedals too. If I have to fiddle with a pedal more then playing music it’s definately something that would put me off from buying it but I really do like how they are integrating programming of presets into the computer like a plug-in if you happen to reamp a track through a pedalboard to adjust in DAW too and save that preset. Nifty! That was a Great way of showing and explaining ❤️
Years and year ago I was in a small studio and the engneer asked if I fancied putting my snare drum through his new toy -- an Eventide Harmonizer. Usually people just wanted it for vocals but what came out sounded like an atomic bomb going off, so we kept that and moved on to the cowbell . .
Did you have more cowbell?
@@edbrito-swdev A cowbell with a jet engine!
I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell.
$900, hard pass. Unreal
If I could find a way to permanently feel how I do when I watch your videos life would be grand.
Comment of the year right here.🤘🏽
I really want to hear the H90 paired with a Microcosm. I wonder the extent of ambient soundscapes that pair could create. Endless maybe?
Everything you play heals me in a way no other artists ever have. Thank you.
I understand this comment and I agree.
Okay so instant my bloody Valentine tones 😳 I love it 🫶
Wow, incredible! I cant wait to put my side-project into action. There is so much access to innovative soundscaping compared to even 10 years ago, let alone 20+.
I love all the sounds in this one! Such a great listening experience!
we need a full song of the 4:22 riff, reminds me of Death Cab but better
Followed your link and found this peddle for $200 less than other sites. Had to buy it. UPDATE Still love this, now even more because of how well it works plugged into my pc.
This pedal is an absolute monster. There's no way I can justify the cost, but it would be cool to be in a place where someday something like this is justifiable for my music.
This is a real studio piece, with extremely rich and diverse algorithms, especially with the ease of combining them.
Loopop's review shows how powerful this is on synths too, worth checking out even briefly if you're interested in this thing.
It has such a heavy pricetag, but if you can realistically justify it, it seems like it will be well worth it.
Eventide stuff kicks ass, even their in-house emulations of their own hardware are great.
technically, you can program your own presets, so you can almost infinitely generate your own pedals within this and combine them. Cost-wise it is probably best for people who want only 1-2 pedals instead of a collection, if you think of it like that, you are saving a lot of money on pedals by getting this.
@@emorelix don't get me wrong, I understand this things power and value (loopop's review really helps clarify just how transformative and broad its effects are), but at $900, I have a lot of other things outside the world of pedals that are more important to put money into for what I do with music.
Obviously, and I feel this should go without saying, that isn't the case for everyone.
Yeah, there are multieffect pedals under $100 for those of us that want to go the "I'll just buy this one thing so I don't have to keep getting everything" route. If you can justify spending a grand on this then you've already gone way past the small budget pedal collection threshold. Which isn't to say that you shouldn't get it of course, pedals are wonderful and anyone with the means to get them (either one giant splurge like this, a wide of array of more moderately costed pedals or both) should go for it and make the coolest music money can buy.
Your my favorite harpist!!❤..love that ambient synthwave lo-fi sound..!!..you need to play at live venues!!..
You and that drummer could make a cool sounding record with this thing. Very impressive effects.
I know every time I watch one of your videos, I’m going to experience some truly beautiful sounds and music! Thank you for sharing your creativity with us all!
they did a great job with the user interface on this pedal. as someone who spent years menu diving on the H3000 and later the eclipse, this looks like a breeze to operate. sounds great, too!
OMIGOD YES! I BEEN TELLIN U DOE. EVENTIDE AND HARP IS THE WAY!!! AHHH THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY
calm edit: All that being said, you GOTTA try SPACE!!!
The H9 Max is one of my favorite pedals, I will probably upgrade to this eventually.
Can we be friends tho, you're such a vibe!
um YES YOU’RE SO AWESOME 🙌🎶💖
I had to get over from the live stream at Eventide. You are just the best in demoing these. I have a H9 and could insert it in the H90 and have three engines.
Thank you so much! OMG I wish I had an H9 to try with this, that would be insane!
@@emilyharpist If I lived anywhere near I would come over with my H9 and my Boss DD-500 with two Delay engines. I am pretty sure we could easily make peoples minds explode with this.
@@emilyharpist I have an H9, but it's on my battery powered MX5 board with Zoia. Been tempted to put it in my rack though, cause my pedalboards don't get used since I built the rack!
Are harps heavy? They look really heavy.
4:27 The perform mode and hot switching really makes this high quality multi shine, it seems like such a novel concept when done right, nice work guys!
The combo of eventide and emily is awesome, the noises in this even from the presets is great! Also props to your drummer, that dude is also awesome!

love the jammin' meter changes at 4:20
5/4 then 7/8 ????? or something like that? 🤔
Good ear.
Answer Cheat Sheet: ✏️
It’s feels like 5 but it’s really a 10 count (6/4 + 4/4), then 7/8 for 3 bars then the fourth bar is a quick 4/4 for a nice shift.
@@lexhitreset Now this is EPIC
Everytime she says, "my harp sounds like...", closed captioning changes "harp" to "heart". Seems appropriate
🥰

Is it that, let's say, if you put a reverb on the soundboard pickup, it effects the whole harp. But if you put some distortion on the bass pickup with it, is it then that the whole harp, exept for the bass strings, has reverb and the bass strings only have distortion? Ore are the 2 effects on the bass strings combined?
That’s a great question!! The soundboard pickup includes the low strings, but the bass pickup has a different pickup system that gives the bass strings a different sound quality. It sounds more like an electric bass to me. But to answer your question, YES, the 2 effects would be combined! It would have distortion on it as well as subtle reverb since the distortion would be more prevalent
ya'll always have the best demos.
No u
That riff from about 3:20 was gnarly. Reminded me of the kind of noise pop/shoegaze stuff like Scarling. Holy hell I'd love to hear a track of yours like that with Jessicka or Katie Jane Garside singing gently over the top.
loved the little "please subscribe" bit at the end - made me sad I'm already subscribed
THAT SOUNDS TOTALLY COOL!
that request actually made me subscribe 😂
I'm already subscribed. I can't subscribe any more.
Unless perhaps there were some sort of second channel.
Lmfaooo IF ONLY! If YOU had a second account you could subscribe again 😂
Actually,, this is my 2nd account & I am subbed with both. My other one is so old that when I got logged out, I couldn't log back in.
THERES A SECOND CHANNEL?!?!!👀
After many years spent being an anti multi-effects pedals elitist I finally realized the error of my ways and added one to my rig a few years ago. It does want I want it to do so I'm happy with it. Probably not anywhere near as badass as the Eventide but it works for me.
Empress zoia is better as this only allows 2 basic fx at the same time. Wow soooo revolutionary for $900.
A lot of people swear by the ZOIA! I have one and don’t use it a whole lot because the workflow personally isn’t for me, but yeah it’s one of the best multi-fx pedals out there
This is channel is just unreal. Most beautiful person plays most beautiful music on the most beautiful instrument with the most beautiful effects pedals. It's almost a bit too much. 🙂 Great review!
Always a great watch. Plenty of great info and laughs! Sad that there was no livestream this week. Hope all is well and see you folks next Wednesday!
I like how your hair is also a multi effect. A+ 😂
Ha! I just watched Pete Thorn’s demo of this box and immediately thought “Emily could do wonderful things with this!” It isn’t for me - I’m nowhere near good enough to use 1/10th of this thing’s capabilities - but it is so cool.
Holy smokes the 2:55 minute mark is soooooo good 🥹
your music is right up my alley. Very mystical. I love using Eventide effects on my nylon string guitar the Godin multiac acoustic, and using the MIDI output I can also control keyboards and get pianos at the same time or anything else like brass or combination sounds ;) I really enjoyed this video and will be checking out more of your videos! Thank you for sharing!
Bass player here
I need one of these
The first bit of playing sounded like acoustic killswitch engage. The first bit of playing with the H90 gave me maximum frission. And the second bit of playing with it reminded me of a devin townsend song. All in all very cool. This is your first video since i subscribed. Not sure why i didn't when i first found you 😅
without the H90 my harp sounds like this 🛌, with the H90 my harp sounds like this 🥴🥹😍
Whatever you played to demo the Celestial Chimes setting (starts around the 5:20 mark) was so.. warm and wondrous. Like a long journey leading you to some long-forgotten, powerful place. You peer through green branches and behold a lonely silver tower basking in pure sunlight. Bursts of radiance spread about it like golden wings reaching and beckoning. Surely this is a wonderful place. It feels like home.
Nah, but seriously... what fucking healing sounds. Thankya!
Hi ,need your honest advice please; espacialy for reverb, witch one between h90, strymon mx, mercury x ??? Thanks
PLS PUT THIS ON SPOTIFY!!!
SOON!
@@emilyharpist THANK YOU!!!!!
I was recently checking out reverse reverbs, so this video comes at a perfect time. I’d also highly recommend checking out the Red Panda Context v2, and the Walrus Audio Lore. They’re the ones I kind of settled on, but I can’t decide on which to go with because I think they both sound amazing.
Hey! I have tried all of those, I have a video on the context! I didn’t like the Lore at all actually so I didn’t feature it on the channel! Reverser reverb has been amazing with the context and the Empress Reverb!
So cool sound, and all goes from harp! Thank you for showing us such beaty.
Took me nearly a year before I tried plugging expression pedals into mine, and I *really* should have tried it earlier. Using the H90 control software to assign them to pretty much anything the H90 can do really lets it fly.
Props to your drummer 🪘 🎉
Hearing you talk about the inputs and outputs was making me a little hot there for a second........(hahahahaha!)..ANYWAY...you're awesome! Keep up the good work!
Omg what. that celestial chime setting blew my mind, it's so good I could listen to that for hours.
That's a pretty impressive pedal.
Great demo, too!
Thank you 🙏
I'm very tempted. I have the H9, and while it sounds stunning, its worse than menu-divey, its almost unusable without an external app. But by lord is it pretty sounding. And yeah, the Black hole is a stunning reverb. Oh what I'd do for a H9000. Although part of what one does to obtain a h9000 is extend the mortgage :/
Can you explain how the different register pickups on your harp work? They aren't just reaaaalll long guitar pickups right?
awesome
I guess I know what I'm buying next. Good lord what a dream machine.
Is it the same technology in the H90 than the single pedal.. like the tricerachorus?
Outfit super super cute today!!
thanks!
