I think Shelley Long was cutest in the 90s. She had that attractive mom vibe. I loved all the made-for-tv movies she was in then like Freaky Friday and Susie Q.
Shelly was still hot here in her late 40s! Barely aged at all vs. 10 yrs before when she was on Cheers. I truly have NEVER seen or gotten any 'difficult diva' b*tchy vibe from her at all (like some of the rumors say). Perhaps she was just a super hard worker perfectionist. She radiates from charisma, humble and super sweet.
I've seen almost every interview on UA-cam about Cheers and hardly anyone says she was a bitch on set. She was just a tightly-wound perfectionist. But it worked. The Kirstie years may have been more mainstream/popular but the Shelley years were outstandingly written and acted sitcom television.
She is a bit uptight and actually seem a bit anti social. but she is very good at putting up a face, as actors are. I don`t really care who she is outside the screen. She is a legendary comedy actress.
@@pnwguy00 also her concerns were right. Sam and Diane were getting stale. She wanted them to get married, the writers didn't want that. Not much else to be done
Some of the problems filming CHEERS were that she comes out of the Chicago -- Second City school of comedy and when she worked on sitcoms she would work in that style ... ie ... from the first walk through of the new script (what is called the 'table read' in the industry when all the actors sit around a large table and read the script together for the first time acting out their parts) ... Shelley would improvise funny lines into her part that weren't on the printed page. Others didn't like working like that if they had never done any improv before because you can't just listen for the last word or two of the line before yours and come in with your line (because the 'feeder' line to your line might change ...so... you have to REALLY listen to know when to jump in with your line). She IS why the writing was BETTER when she was on it ... she was 'rewriting' parts with her improv Second City background approach to comedy and not just sticking to the script the writers gave her. A lot of people didn't appreciate that way of working ... But it probably wouldn't have made it past the first year if not for her rewriting scripts like that ... Cheers might never have become the classic sitcom it became if she hadn't done that for the first 5 or so years she was on.
Shelley might be a little uptight but her work in CHEERS is legendary and she influenced sooo many other female actors in comedy it`s crazy. Just look at Phoebe in Friends. They even look alike. The same the other way with Lucille Ball and Shelley Long. I believe even Elaine in Friends was built upon the Diane character. Sofia Vegara also have a lot of Diane in her character. Shelley is a true comedy actor legend.
Yeah, I bet you do....until she started standing up against the orangutan and speaking the truth.......something a lot more people still need to do. Way to go, Rosie!
Shelley is so adorable and charismatic!

Thanks for the insight on her approach to her work. I wonder if she ever auditioned for SCTV.

This was when I liked Rosie, I really liked her show… then she went loco
This cover photo is hysterical
I love watching vintage Rosie do u have any more love your channel
Shelley Long is da best Actress ever.so as Selena Gomez.shes the other.
if two men on tv went on about kissing a female hollywood star like that you could be sure they'd be witch hunted...
Wasn't much a interview to me it was more about kissing tom cruise and promote movie i want to see
most interviews are promotion of something though, it's only if you get them on Oprah or Barbara Walters you'll get 'the interview'.
Saying the actual name of the movie while promoting it might be something to consider going forward.
I was going to ask what is the movie?
Shelley could have fit 3 times in that suit
And trump none.
Lol!
Rosie still like Tom Cruise today
You can tell Rosie wants her
The Money Pit
Trump 2024
in jail?
TRUMP IN A LANDSLIDE.
not anymore
OMG Rosie was sooooooo hetero!
