My mom has high blood pressure and coronary artery disease and she has to take blood pressure pills everyday and heart medicine. I Changed my lifestyle to stay healthy since there is a history of high blood pressure on my mom and dad sides of the family. I know the risk is greater if there's a family history of high blood pressure that's why I changed the way I eat and I've joined Ultimate Frisbee to get my heart rate up. Because I don't want to end up like my family members or my mom.

Ain’t a healthy diet and exercise the correct answer ? taking pills does damage to your internal organs

Absolutely eating Healthy, exercise. Can greatly reduce the risk of developing hypertension. In some cases you may be able get off medication completely with non-medicinal measures. Prevention is the best treatment.
Generally when hypertension is diagnosed there is an inappropriate release of renin which cannot be treated with diet and exercise alone. The risk of not treating consistently high readings, can damage organs like your eyes, kidneys, and other organs.
