  • Low levels of thyroid hormone are associated with symptoms of depression, fatigue, weight gain and pale dry skin. In this video we will discuss the thyroid gland and how dysfunction in this small butterfly shaped gland can cause so many issues.
    With hypothyroidism your bodily organs are basically functioning in slow motion. It can cause weakness, fatigue, constipation, feeling cold, dry skin and hair, muscle cramps, slow heart rate, unexplained weight gain, confusion, altered memory, difficulty concentrating, loss of interest in activities normally enjoyed.
    TSH released from the pituitary plays an important role in thyroid function and the production of T3 and T4.

      Michael Mouris what am I supposed to do. Hypothyroid is a curse. If medicine makes things worse, what am I supposed to do? I don’t want to give up, but I am close to just not caring anymore.

      @@jonny6113 well everybody works differently but stayin off certain foods, that could possibly irritate the thyroid or your body in general make sure you go on walks or join a gym I recently joined a gym so that semi helps me drink obviously lots of water when you first wake up to when you go to bed you can also have lemon water which is really good for you have you heard of chlorophyll it cleans out your system if you mix it with water it's like a green color fluid make sure you have your multivitamins and turmeric helps with the inflammation so I'm definitely on a lot of turmeric stuff but be careful with that because it's also a blood thinner right now those are all my tips make sure you breathe I sometimes forget to breathe I know as funny as that is like I said everybody works differently you just have to listen to yours

    I just started synthroid. My entire family has struggled with hypothyroidism for 3 or more generations. My great gma had to be put on pig form PURE thyroid bc the synthetic didnt touch it.
    My dr. Said my levels were sooooo low. And my iron was 4!!
    I bloat, swell, have a bm once every 2 wks if im lucky. Freeze all the time, cant sleep, but tired, and gained 80lbs in a very short time. Im a decent healthly eater, and a vegetarian. I also work out almost daily. I never had a reg period and had a very hard time conceiving. I suffer from migraines, depression, and sometimes confusion.
    Soooooo funny bc my last pcp did blood work and said no ur fine just depression. I have been on thyroid meds for 17 years!!!! And all the symptoms came rushing back the second my previous pcp took me off of it. I just got a new dr. And she INSTANTLY put me back on meds, and not the start low and gradually increase. 100 mics qd. and that was after a blood transfusion.
    My kids ages 8 and 9, both have many of the same symptoms..... what's the dang genetic marker????
    Its a very big family issue. We ALL have a severe form of it.
    Thanks 4 the video. Very informative for my husband.
    "You have every symptom" he said. Otherwise im a 100% heathy active 31 year old.

    • @belmontdrugs
      @belmontdrugs  6 років тому +3

      Glad you liked the video Brianne. I would say diet is the most important, avoiding processed foods, and foods with dyes have a tendency to activate the autoimmune system unnecessarily because well.. they are foreign unnatural material. if you don't live in north America it would be important to make sure you have sufficient iodine in your diet as well

      I have this I was gaining weight randomly as I couldn't sweat. A lot of process disrupted. I had hypothyroidism though I've a bmi 17.9-21. It's annoying. I didn't look hypothyroid but it was bad enough go for bloodwork if showing symptoms. Mine went up and down. I was a serious runner. I would sweat real well so didn't notice them couldn't sweat anymore. I bloated easily. I had to stop running. As I couldn't sweat much I gained up to 11 pounds over 4 weeks despite nutrition being watched calories includeds its water though very tiny increases. Feet and hands and face swelled alarming despite 2 hours training and low sugar/salt. I Couldn't fit in shoes. I thought kidneys or heart were failing. I'd get weird bloodwork at the times I gained weight. Id my six month blood test. It was found. More exercise is bad for it. Increases symtoms.i tried up to2 hours exercise a day not a good idea. Mind yourself. ❤ it may take time. Hope you feel better it took 6 years for me to get diagnosis.

    And then there are people with unrelated conditions that affect hypothyroidism. These are things like Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder/Syndrome that make it difficult for a person to wake up in the 'morning' and be able to take the hypothyroidism supplement medicine. How can they when their biological clock runs at a different timing than other people and they can't fall asleep before 2 or 5 AM and they have to wake up at 6 or 7 AM just to take their hypothyroidism medicine and then have food 30 minutes later? And these are also people with damaged thyroid glands.
