    Hi I get so much valuable output from this library . ..just love it. What I have noticed when recording the PS track (ie midi) ..it records the keys played rather than the Ostenato pattern. However if I stream the midi while recording or subsequent to recording to another channel I can record Ostenato midi or Audio by choice . I like to add a bit of humanisation to the material. Thought this tip might be useful for folks 🙏👏👍

    Go with Opus Hollywood Strings and see pattern presets.

    For the price, the Ben Osterhouse libraries are about as close to no-brainers as exists in the VI world.

    Can you drag and drop these patterns into your DAW as a MIDI file?

    I do not quite understand how to export to your DAW. Do you have to render every phrase before making at new one?

    Hopefully you realize by now that you didn't use those at the proper tempo? ;-) Hey that happens some times.

      It wasn't just me then. The tempos made the product seem artificial and this was a missed opportunity. Not the usual SLR standard.

      Oh, so that was it. Just as well I didn't leave that rude comment about how fake and mechanistic the front ends on those attacks sounded then. - Oops

      Hey guys thanks for bringing this to our attention.

      Hey, reviewer here! Just would like to address this and thanks for bringing it to my attention. The patterns are played at 120bpm straight out of the box and represent the rhythms written. Obviously to suit your piece you would probably change a lot of these down to half time with the handy rhythm playback tool. I wanted to represent as written and at another point in the video I explain the function. So while I do agree that these would be probably better represented in half time and more natural feeling, I did go for a more out of the box approach. Thanks though!

      @@misterpete1928 Oh, please, haha! I'm calling you out. You do a great job but... "I wanted to represent as written.... out of the box... thanks though!" BS. The patterns were recorded at 90bpm and 80bpm, that's out of the box. Come on, you didn't know that or you would have set your DAW at least close to that BPM for a decent demo. You demoed them at an unreasonable stretch of 120 and even at a doubled 240 which made the product sound absolutely ridiculous. You want me to believe that you KNEW you made it sound horrible and it's up to us to "obviously" know "to suit your piece...." ? Would you demo 80bpm drum loops at 120bpm and leave it to viewers to just IMAGINE what it would sound like at a reasonable bpm? Hilarious, just own it. You wanted to crank the video out and stay positive. After I read the "thanks though!" dismissing all of this, I had to respond. I could always be wrong but....smh. That said, I'm buying this now but certainly not based on your audio of 120 and 240. ;) Nice try with the explanation though.

    Thank you for the review!
    But now I am curious to know what happens if you change the pitch in the middle of the phrase, for example if you have the 4 16th phrase, and you play C during first 2 notes and change to E in the next 2 notes. Does it move seamlessly?

    • @ben-osterhouse
      @ben-osterhouse 3 роки тому

      Hi Caglar, If you change mid-phrase, it moves somewhat seamlessly. In the music demos you can get a sense how well it works.

    there seem to be some obvious rhythms missing which is frustrating - no support for 6/8 or 12/8 - you have semiquavers (in groups of four) and minims, but no quavers or crotchets (though you do have a crotchet rest, which is good!).
    So, if I want to do a "pirates of the Caribbean" ostinato for example, I can't
    And, ye Gods, it takes a long time to load up, even having done a batch resave. 3 seconds to drag and drop a really interesting looping rhythm (as you demonstrated), which is really good, but 5+ minutes to load in the first place???

    • @misterpete1928
      @misterpete1928 3 роки тому

      Hi Charles, I just wanted to address the issue you're experiencing with loading. My instrument loading time on my Ryzen build system, reading from an SSD was around four seconds for the actual instrument. It's not a very large footprint at all. There could be a number of reasons so I would contact the vendor you purchased this from. Thanks!

    • @charlesgaskell5899
      @charlesgaskell5899 3 роки тому +1

      @@PaulZambranoCreations I have been doing - the five minute load time (which freezes the DAW session, so you can't even do something else whilst you are waiting) seriously dampens the enjoyment though, makes me less likely to load it up (which is a shame, because once loaded, it's good and fun).
      But thanks for reminding me to chase it up with support

    • @charlesgaskell5899
      @charlesgaskell5899 3 роки тому

      Having chased it up with support, I discovered that although it wasn't specifically a problem which they were aware of, by installing the recent new version improved load times a lot

    • @TonyByte
      @TonyByte 3 роки тому

      @@PaulZambranoCreations There is nothing wrong with that opinion even though you don't like reading it and I don't see why there needs to be an attempt make someone feel it's a problem for feedback. In fact, it's useful information for others, good or bad. Hypocritically, YOUR comment is useless and contributes nothing. People don't have to filter everything to be positive flowers and rainbows to make others feel good. What an unnecessary fake world that would be.

    Unfortunately, all these patterns and the sounds of the strings don't fit in my heroic epic style mixed with hybrid elements. The sounds fit very well in old classical era Beethoven style kind of thing. I'd like to see Action Strings-like libraries in the new future. Other than that, the library is great for that price.

    • @wardy2783
      @wardy2783 3 роки тому +1

      dude....having calm sounds and then going into epic ness is what these are also good for ...yes they are great for old classical etc....you can use them with your hybrid epic stuff....these are great for slow build ups or breaks...adding some crazy effects will also add even more depth to your hybrid stuff....try it out...bargain for the price on vstbuzz......cheers
