GamingSins: Everything Wrong With Bayonetta

- Welcome to GamingSins, where I nitpick the hell out of video games.
Bayonetta is part of what seems to be an increasingly rare genre of spectacle fighter, hack n' slash games that are of high quality. Doesn't mean it's free from its own problems.

The first Bayonetta will always be my favorite. It's just a shame that her old voice actress is crazy.😍😤
Whats wrong with her?
@@stvy_g0ld she tried lying on platinum games. About how much she was getting paid and shit. She ended up quitting.
@@stvy_g0ld She refused to voice Bayonetta in the third game on her own accord and was finally asked to at least have a cameo where she was supposed to get the payment of 5k for one out of three recordings. She was offered 15k. However, she wanted a six-digit-salary, was told to piss off and then got mad, made a video in which she called out for a boycott of Bayonetta 3 and lied that she was offered 5k for the entire game.
@@italolxd3128 don’t forget she’s presumably racist, since she openly supports Blue Lives Matter, which was made as a racist counter to Black Lives Matter, atop of some of the charities she listed are anti-abortion.. she’s also a possible TERF, so there’s that..
@@stvy_g0ld she betrayed her fanbase by urging a boycott on Bayonetta 3, And Lied About It!
I'd like to mention that Claire, Trish, Silvia, and Ammy are Luka's cats and dog, so he's making a joke about how they'd be let down if their dad and provider-of-kibble died.
Additionally, the reason Jeanne's initial outfit is red is because it's an actual article of clothing she bought rather than something constructed with her hair.
How do you know those names are Luka's cats and dog?
@@giselaandrade5627 There's an official sketch which shows Luka feeding them and those are their names.
25:39. The red outfit Jeanne was wearing is her normal, everyday clothes that aren't made of hair. Bayo can get a similar outfit as an extra costume and it doesn't go away when she uses her hair for Wicked Weaves or Climaxes.
This is also why her dodges are always cartwheels and flips rather than mixed flips and rolls. Bayo does her fighting in her Umbran garb and doesnt have to care about getting dirty while Jeanne is wearing actual clothes and doesnt want to get them dirty.
Sin 35: There’s an accessory that does exactly that. If you equip the Star of Dineta, taunting an enemy increases your health. Granted it should have been a base feature, but it is there.
Bayonetta does the whole nun and casket thing to draw angels out. They hear her prayers and show up expecting to take a new soul to paradiso but they get her heals to the face instead. But also she seems to have a thing for costumes. But angels in the game must not be too bright if they responded to a witch's prayers.
Fun fact: The reference Luca makes to the other capcom ladies is addressed in the art book he has 3 cats and a dog.
Because he was exactly talking about his pets, not about some human "ladies". LOL
4:09 As for Sin 12, the reason Witch Time is not a super built up mechanic is because it's not the main mechanic of the game. It's Dodge Offset, the mechanic that allows you to continue your combo strings through dodges. Witch Time is a crutch for new players on earlier difficulties. On Non-Stop Infinite Climax, the game's hardest difficulty, Witch Time is completely absent. It forces you to utilize all the mechanics to the highest extent. Honestly it's sad that because of complaints like this, it's never returned.
Dodge offset is a horrible mechanic. You have to know in advance which part of the combo you are going to transfer to after dodge, to hold that button, meaning no reaction dodges without losing combo strings. Also super confusing and technically hard to do despite you have to do it constantly. Why couldn`t they just make combos to not being interrupted by a single dodge?
@@ragvald8835 No it isn't, actually. Bayonetta becomes simply another game after you learn Dodge Offset, it is its best mechanic among all three games. It's quite almost Bayo's whole personality into a game mechanic, and these games are supposed to be difficult.
NSIC in Bayonetta 1 is so fun for this reason! I hate how important witch time is in Bayo 2 and even 3. I would also say charge modifiers are a main mechanic alongside dodge offset
This is Kamiya's best work like it or not. Dodge Offset is the difference between being good and git gud. You should know your P and K combos. 2 buttons in a particular sequence. Those sequences typically carry over to other weapons but result in entirely different combos. Bayo 1 will always be the standard for the franchise.
I cannot defend the highway segment.
@@ragvald8835 You seem to fundamentally misunderstand dodge offset, and also Bayonetta as a whole. Your first complaint is that you have to know which part of the combo you are going to transfer to after the dodge. The only reason someone wouldn't be remembering what buttons they have been pressing is if they are literally mashing punch and kick randomly. Every combo in Bayonetta has a purpose. PPKKK is a slow but powerful combo that has two wicked weaves, PKP is a fast but weak WW etc. if you want to button mash, stop caring about your score, use items or play on Easy mode.
Second complaint is that you can't "reaction dodge", when the whole point of Dodge Offset is that you can reactively dodge and still continue the combo. Yes, many skilled players use dodge offset to cancel attacks and quickly unleash "free" wicked weaves and get to the important part of a combo, but the mechanic is primarily meant for maintaining combat flow. There is also a "cheat" for doing dodge offset... You simply don't tap buttons. You get into the habit of holding down the button slightly without triggering the shootout effect of the weapon and you will essentially mindlessly trigger dodge offset whenever you dodge during a combo.
Third complaint is that Dodge Offset should be the default, once again completely misunderstanding Bayonetta's combat. Dodge is used to cancel just about everything. With only a few exceptions, you can dodge out of any animation. The reason dodge offset is not default is because there are many reasons you may not want to use it. For example, you may be going for PPKKK, but after the first kick you realise you're about to take multiple attacks. You dodge to cancel the combo without using dodge offset because there is no way you're getting out that WW. If Dodge Offset was on by default, you would be forced into a situation where you have to wait around twiddling your thumbs waiting for the input to "decay" so that you aren't forced to use the slow wicked weave.
This and Bayonetta 2 are one of my favorite video games ever. There's just something about it that scratches every little gaming itch and it expands upon the blueprint that was set for it in so many kickass ways.
They suck
Rodin has got to be the hardest secret boss character in any video game
Forreal. Across all games he just bullies you.
Nah, he's a monstrous difficulty spike relative to the rest of Bayonetta sans maybe the secret chapter and beating him is certainly an accomplishment worthy of pride for anyone, but I've beaten much much harder bosses where Rodin barely registers in comparison. Rodin only took me 10-20 tries which is absolutely paltry compared to the probably close to 100 attempts it took to beat Alexander IV in Rogue Legacy with Ponce De Freon not far behind, or the entire day worth of attempts it took to beat The Forgotten One on Paladin Difficulty in Lords of Shadow.
5:56 Jeanne is under the "control" of Balder, to an extent. She has also been charged as the other last remaining Umbran witch with the task of leading Bayonetta to her "fate" which is to become the Left Eye and keep the Umbran clan alive. Both sides fight constantly within Jeanne throughout the game with each encounter, as she tests you on your skills.
I mean, she also HAS to kill angels in order to avoid having her soul taken by Madama Styx, the demon that she has a pact with. So she literally can’t not kill them for any reason.
@@quinn9022also she actively berates the angels for getting in the way, and then they mess everything up anyways, if she's gonna get to do what she needs to do, the angels gotta die.
25:32 Jeanne is wearing the D'Arc jumpsuit the whole game which is actual clothing as stated in the outfit description which is why its red and not white, like how Bayo had a white nuns outfit before summoning her hair outfit.
If you don't want to mash the button during climax attacks, you can just ignore it
This is gonna be good. This game is loaded with sinful material.
Biggest sin is bayonneta voice actress
Lolz
Phrasing.
@@royalkumar795
Disagree..
I like her voice.
@@jesusisunstoppable4438 me too, I also like her voice, but that way she lied to her fans called everyone to boycott the bayonneta 3 , I have lost trust on her about payment she was complaining about, platinum games was ready for good payment on her, but she refused her role in bayonneta 3 because she thought platinum games start to bend in the knee on her, begging her to do voice in bayonneta 3 , but it got back fired on her, her voice got replaced by other voice actress, she brought herself to ruin own voice acting career, she deserves 9000 sins to ruining bayonneta voice in last games
9:22 its a homage to Street Fighter 3 Parry Mechanic, in fact some of her moves, like AfterBurner or Tetsuzankou, are homage of games that have been on the Sega Consoles
hi! just want to clarify that jeanne’s D’Arc outfit is not made of her hair. it is a designed outfit of high fashion. it says this in the outfit description. this is why her clothes don’t disappear during wicked weave
25:44 Up until now, Jeanne has been wearing real clothes, not her unbran uniform (magic hair clothes). This is why if you play as her in her red outfit, it does not disappear during wicked weaves.
It's also why her dodges are flips and cartwheels. She doesnt want to dirty up her clothes, so she avoids moves that have her rolling on the ground.
Little Cereza was one of the cutest characters in this game.
Also I have a theory why Cereza calls Bayonetta mummy. It’s because she looks like Rosa. Who we find out in Bayonetta two is her mom. Rosa unfortunately was killed but since Cereza is Bayonetta but younger. Little Cereza sees older Cereza (Bayonetta) and thinks she’s Rosa.
Yep that’s exactly why Cereza thinks Bayo is her mummy. Rosa was designed to look like bayonetta, they even strike the same poses in their renders.
Your uploads are sparse but the quality is amazing. Loved your hour + sins on TLOU2 also. Keep making bangers my guy.
OMG, one of my favorite games and it's gonna be sinned, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I simply love your videos, please, don't stop making ❤️ (sorry about the bad English)
Your vids have me dying laughing can't wait for this one to start!🙏🏾
Jeanne's red outfit is only high-class fashion that is destroyed when she faces Bayonetta and then uses her hair.
that's why when playing as jeanne she does backflips to avoid touching the ground and not getting dirty instead of crawling on the ground like bayonetta does.
another incredible video, the quality and comedy is insane, I love it so much!
Sin 20 is a good example of why there’s barely any scoring system nowadays. You know, when people actually TEST-PLAY the game before releasing it.
Sin 18, while that is a point. You do have to remember that there is no reason for the angels to not fight Jeanne. They have the same beef with her being indebted to the forces of darkness as one assumes they have with Bayonetta herself. XD
Naw, Dante beat Jeanne too. He used a bike as a weapon in DMC3, he just didn't get to do it outside of cutscene until 5.
I knew that you were going to make a comeback sometime this year. Didn't know you would be returning so soon.
This is an unexpected surprise that I will gladly welcome.
25:43 because that's a normal outfit, like bayonetta's white nun outfit
Ooooh, a bit more consistency in uploads! Good for you, man, keep it up! 😊
I always look forward to your sin videos, quality over quantity is a good descriptor for the channel, had me creasing the entire video
I wasn't expecting this so soon, so this was a great way to end the month
It's always great to see one of these videos on the timeline
man i'm so happy you're "back"
also your voice reminds me of (fighting cowboy's voice)
17:48 I request a additional removal of sin point by the fact you can see little Cereza after she ran away hiding behind the left wall outside. Something that took hundreds of times watching this scene to see
Happy to see the legend still lives!
Also, I think you’ll enjoy sinning God of War Ragnarok. I think this game is fantastic, way better than the 2018 one, but there are quite a few moments there that made me think “GCN would LOVE to sin this”
Thank god! I'm so happy they are still here
I'm pleased to see you do Bayonetta it is one of my favorite hackenslash games right up there with Devil May Cry however I'm more surprised that the next game you're sending good on you for picking it I can't wait to see what you have to say especially considering how different it is from the original
didn’t think this guy still made videos, i’m glad you’re still here GCN
can’t watch it yet but glad to see you upload
God have we missed you so much. Been subbed for about a decade now
Been watching since the classic resident evil 6 sins video. A huge part of my childhood great stuff
Fun fact you play as bayonetta 3 when your falling from the mountain
I leave you've for two weeks, come back, and this nugget of gold is waiting for me.
Oh god it’s finally time for this one
i'm just happy to see you back GCN.
Glad to see GCN finally tackle the Bayo series.
Glad to see you're still around
I love the stylised subtitles
Can't wait already.
Loved the video!
How convenient is it that 2 weeks ago I got Bayonetta to play it eventually but the next game you decide to sin is the game that I was gonna, still gonna play it
I've always believed it was just Jeanne wearing a normal outfit. That being her and Bayonetta are fashionable.
Yeah Jeanne’s just wearing normal clothes.
Always like your vids please keep going also can you please do borderlands, MK 11, Diablo 2,3, COD infinite, advanced, ghosts, Cold War, Midevil.
Will watch with great expectation Kidd Atari 🤟🤟
Jeanne still fights angels despite being mine controlled because if she doesn't get demons will kill her for breaking the contract she made with them
22:00 she pushes the atoms of the water together to turn it into a solid. It's just a quirk of time stopping
Fun fact that you might enjoy:Jeanne’s voice actress is the same voice actress who does Queen Moon in Star Vs The Forces of Evil
Great video as always
Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Dead Space I’ve played the original and I’ve only heard positive things about the remake
Sin 37 that quick time event was most of my deaths in bayonetta 1
Oh i am ready for this and he has returned
that noti kicked in at the best moment 😭🙏🏾
Well done GCN, welcome back!
16:17 ...oh God that's even worse knowing that somewhere along the line ammy got a baby
16:46
I’m dying right now… shit caught me off guard.
Guess we'll have a Luka fail list. Or how Bayonetta and cereza work in story with time travel.
Either way. All set.
This. Is gonna be good. As Always
are u using a reshade preset? and if u are which one is it cuz ur game looks nice
Well fuck me sideways and say it's a new released a new video and honestly makes me very happy to see you still making them.
You mentioned Metal Gear Rising several times in this video. Could you at some point make a video on that game? I'd love to see this.
i love that the fact that there are clearly city lights on in the fucking 1500s lmao
5:05 this and the martini glass smaller than a pinky are glorious lmao
6:02 as mentioned by Enzo about two minutes prior, she's a witch so she has to sacrifice (kill) angels every day or else her soul gets dragged down to hell and she dies, so that's prolly why
Its very clear you actually enjoy this game and honestly, its very refreshing seeing a CinemeSins style video where someone's actually knowledgeable about what they're talking about
But you got a few things wrong
Sin 25: Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa is something that lets you be able to parry, block, and deflect attacks. This is a game centered around dodging and evading. It rewards you for it with things like Witch Time, which allows you to send enemies into the air easily, continue combos, open up opponents, and deflect projectile attacks. While dodging, you can also continue strings. Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa is that expensive BECAUSE it offers a new mechanic where you stand your ground rather than dodging. And this leads to another sin you did
Sin 35: The game is punishing. The point of the healing items is to make the game easier but notice how it brings down your score. The game does not want you to use items at all. It's partly why it's not even allowed in the secret Angel Slayer chapter. And onto your point about how Bayonetta should be able to do a quick dance move to restore health... she can. While you were focusing on the Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa, there was another accessory for much cheaper called the Star of Dineta that does exactly that.
Sin 66: Every game made by Kamiya has things carried over from previous works. Witch Time was inspired by Viewtiful Joe's slow-motion mechanic. Dante's ability to run up walls in 3 and shoot at two enemies at once was inspired from DMC2. DMC5 borrowed DmC's Doppelganger from that version of Vergil and Dante's ability to hit a wider target area with Rainstorm. Every single game technically has recycled content. But in this case... yeah Kamiya just likes motorbikes. There's nothing quite wrong with that. I'm just surpirsed this recycling content sin wasnt for Bayonetta borrowing Vergil's summoned swords ability when you turn into a crow or the fact that Stiletto with the sword is just DMC's Stinger cause this is... yeah he likes motorbikes. He thinks they're cool.
Everything i dont mind. They're all things I either agree with, true, or something that is purely opinion based that I don't personally agree with but they ARE opinions. There was also something about Witch Time early on, Sin 11, but I don't wanna talk about that one. Someone else already did. Other than that tho, good video! I normally see constant cynicism and stupid joke nitpicks whenever I personally tried to find a Everything Wrong With related but this was great 👍 Not expecting anyone to see this I just have a lot of time
This is gonna be a good one
4:08 Fun fact with Bayonetta 3 they have confirmed that it is connected to Devil May cry directly thanks to the fact that Bayonetta 3 shows us that it is a multiverse and this part of the multiverse is most likely closer to DmC Devil May cry considering limbo is the place you fight almost all of your enemies in the first two games.
Going in for the kill....doing it for the thrill! Is all I remember from the original trailer
The Legend is back!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
9:15 I assume they did map blocking to controller thump stick due to console controller limitation or they wanted to use the most of it. Another game who did similar thing is God Hand, which they utilised left controller stick to dodge enemies attack.
Can't waitr for Bayonetta 2 and 3
@GameCareNetwork you guys gonna make a everything wrong with Bayonetta 2or 3 cause I’d love to see that
1:50 OHMAYGOT!! You did not…. 😂😂
Bayonetta IS a 100+ hour game, there’s a reason the counter of how many times you did a combo goes up to 999. It’s meant to be replayed on every difficulty to get all weapons, accessories and characters. There’s literally a weapon that requires you to complete 100 chapters on normal difficulty or higher. When you unlock a new character you need to create a new game file to play that character so you essentially start for the very beginning. What keeps it from getting boring is that every new character you unlock has different aspects that make them difficult but still fun.
Bayonetta: Easiest to pick up, basically the all rounder
Jeanne: Only gets witch time if you get bat/ moth within, stronger wicked weaves, gets more combo points, white wicked weaves and climaxes, best voice lines in the game
Zero: Dies within 2 hits (or 3 if you have max health), can summon the little devils without the infernal communicator, hilarious cutscenes because his model is too small and he always does his default animation even if the other characters don’t move
The gameplay also has way more depth than you realise. You’re not just limited to the normal combos or linking two combos. You can make air combos that are as long as you please if you’re good enough. Every weapon also has unique uses or interactions that make them useful to some extent. You can also get pure platinum with every weapon combo work if you try hard enough. At the 100 hour mark you just start to pick up on some of the deeper techniques. You need hundreds of hours to actually get good at the game. I suggest watching a series called “Bayonetta combat theory” by @Bone_Z to see what some of the more advanced techniques look like.
Bayonetta is also a really hard game, it throws you right into the action with just a very quick tutorial and you’re forced to figure things out on your own. If you don’t learn the mechanics quickly you die a lot. NSIC (Non-stop infinite climax) is ridiculously hard, you have no witch time and constantly get harassed by Grace and Glory who are basically Gracious and Glorious without witch time. There are also some ridiculously hard fight like an alfheim where you fight against 2 Jeannes at the same time but it’s still fun if you’re good at the game. There’s also a secret boss, Rodin, which you fight by purchasing the platinum ticket. He is the hardest boss in the game by far but if you somehow manage to beat him you get the rodin rings which are the most overpowered weapon in the game
If you think Bayonetta is a bad game or that it’s not a 100+ hour game you either haven’t played long enough or are bad.
Ok this is just a question, what would you think if Devil may cry and Bayonetta had a crossover hack and slash game?
Damn, the legend himself is back!!
4:27 thank you I thought it was it was just me getting timing wrong on my first playthrough
I have missed this
Beautiful just beautiful
I think the angel reacting like that to Cereza is a nod to Angels in most stories wanting to protect the innocent. Cereza is a child and in the eyes of the angel an innocent. (This is what I'm choosing to believe for my own sanity)
I need to play it again
Are you going to make gaming sing video about Red Dead Redemption 2?
Will you do a EWW with any of the Dark Pictures Anthology games?
Since we are on Xbox 360 gems can you do Asura's Wrath(even though i dont you'll find much to sin)
The items remind me of resident evil 4 in switching your weapons
THIS IS GONNA BE SOME GREAT S*** For the Legend's return
oooohhh he's back again!
Cool vid bro.😺
Now, you know you have to sin the Trifecta of bayonetta. In addition to the Dead Space remake. Glad to see you come back to the classic sin format as well...
Let's go the goat has returned
Perhaps platinum’s blocking mechanic is meant for the player to experience what it’s like to actively block every single hit of a boss’s combo, you have to time each and every block right with each incoming hit similarly how you have to actively anticipate every single attack in a real situation rather than lazily blocking and expecting not to take damage since in real life they can easily move around your block. I play MGR and mastered this blocking mechanic, only then could I understand what they were going for.
Moral Kombat 11 Next!
Keep Up Brother.
i've bought this game few days ago and now i founded this, talk about coincidence!
great video
Please , to the all series..
