In the novelization of RE Zero, Billy was the only one in his unit not to kill those innocent people. So the rest of his unit said he went crazy and murdered the whole village before they could stop him. That why Billy was the only one who got charge with a crime.
Game wise this is mentioned too. It's just his unit knocked his ass out, cuffed him, and dubbed him AWOL for going against orders. After hearing this Rebbecca respected him for this. When Wesker's team was going to show up at the end Rebbecca says "It's just me, Billy is dead" so Billy doesn't get pursued any further by the military or Wesker's guys. Billy appreciated this big time and leaves.

The novelization is non-canon mind you. It and the other novels are set in their own continuity by author SD Perry. Capcom endorsed the novels, but don't include any additions she made into the games... something they should've done with the live-action movies unfortunately.

Yeah it's a author interpretation thing like how for 3 book wise Nicholi hits a underground lab ran by a umbrella scientist. He asks her for data and samples n stuff. She gives what little she has. He appreciates it and kills her. I know this isn't mentioned in 3 but I felt it still establishes Nicholai as a bad guy and has his own goals. This type of thing is shown in the game where you find documents saying Nicholai had ulterior motives and you get the reveal as Carlos that he's not there to help save people. I admit I haven't read the book all of the way through but thought that was interesting. I know they made non canon books besides 1, 2, 3, CV, and Zero. I believe one was purely on Rebecca not tied to 0.
No one talks about it because, when connected to the first game, it destroys the character development Rebecca built. Imagine surviving first before Alpha team only to become a damsel in distress during the mansion incident. Great game though. Love the character swapping system.

He belonged to a unnamed organization that was after samples of the G virus to make a fortune off it and kill off people responsible for the G virus in terms of vaccines or making it itself. He wasn't full Umbrella. As one of the guys said "We are mercenaries hired by Umbrella to work for Umbrella. Were not Umbrella fully". I believe it was Carlos. Hunk was tied to the one guy in Code Veronica who was trying to revive his sister. But according to ORC Hunk bumped members of the Umbrella cleanup crew that were sent by Wesker to kill William and destroy any trace of the G Virus.
Capcom seems to have a really big thing for introducing new characters in the Resident Evil series, and then proceeding to only use them ONCE. Which is weird seeing how you would think an escaped convict like Billy Coen, innocent or not, would probably be considered a very wanted person, even AFTER the nuking of Raccoon City.
Ya it seems capcom is afraid to introduce new characters into the universe. Like every time a new character is introduced its alongside a returning character almost like its meant to be a back up plan like if you don’t like Sheva it’s ok you have Chris. That’s one of the things that I loved about Re7 is that the cast was completely original and we only had a cameo with Chris, for me that’s all I needed and I could actually enjoy the new characters without old ones taking the spotlight.
Jeremy Jones Obviously Rebecca doesn't do this out of respect for Billy. Look at it from Chris's perspective. Once Rebecca tells him that murderer Billy Cohen is alive and out there somewhere. Chris would be obligated to report this to Wesker or Barry immediately! It wouldn't even matter to them that Rebecca tells all of them that Cohen saved her life numerous times. Yeah Rebecca played that right! The only reason Rebecca should've tell any STARS member about Billy, during the mansion incident, is let's say Rebecca is aware of any possible encounters between he and STARS. Examples let's say Jill, Barry, or even Richard spotted Billy at that mansion, then they report it over the radio, that's when Rebecca should talk. So they don't kill him.
I agree with you completely about the Billy part. I just think that a hijacked train filled with zombies and leaches that can morph into people and giant scorpions warrants at least a passing conversation lol

Anyway I kinda like the weak character dynamic for co-op its not really useful when you play solo as well there is no real communicating with a friend to point a flashlight at a strong enemy so you can hit him a bunch or using the wee girl to point out weak spots (actually that's kinda useful so Moria is more useless than the wee girl I forget her name though)

MKX and MK9 didn't catered too casuals at all.. you either had too learn the game and put some time into it or get ya ass whipped online that simple... MK11 is Casual City. The worse part is ya damn defensive meter fills back up so damn fast that scrubs like you can use it "MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROUND" cheating people outta of damage.. Do I also gotta mention that you get rewarded with a supermove when you get down too 20 percent of health??? So when scrubs like you are getting ya ass whipped you can use a supermove that you didn't even earn in the first place??? What?!!! At least in MKX you had too earn ya X Ray move.it was not fucking handed too you!!! Also in MKX you only got 3 combo breakers per round!!! I always thought the reason Billy asked to team up with Rebecca before the train started moving was because he encountered BOWS outside of the train and what further adds tp my theory is the fact that zombie dogs jump through the train window after attacking Edward. Also also you said it yourself Bravo team never conducted an investigation on what killed the people transporting Billy, but anyway that was just my thoughts on it.

Birkin was only "assassinated" in Darkside Chronicles and Wesker's Report. In the original RE2 and RE2 remake, he was collateral damage while securing the G-Virus.

This bugged the hell out of me when I played it. You take a cable car at least some distance away from the training facility, to the marshalling yard, but can use the elevator here to access the train crash site at the training facility? I found a map online that shows the two versions of the marshalling yard (0 and 2) and it looks like you access it from a different cable car in each game
The pre-rendered background look gorgeous sure. But the effects/character models are very downgraded from Re1make. In Re1 they had flesh grinding sounds when you shot zombies and blood looked a lot better. Re Zero lacks this level of detail

Strange facts: dunno if it’s true that I discovered that when the oil (for the kitchen) was used up (ex. from cooking fried chicken), it can be use as a gas for lamp, for chainsaw, for vehicles
If I had never played Resident Evil 0, I wouldn't have learned how evil Umbrella truly was, I know Resident Evil 0 isn't perfect but better than most people think thanks GCN 👍

@@DShy96 No it's a relatively unknown side game that's just as cast away as Code Veronica was. The first three Resident Evils are classics, Metal Gear Solid is a classic.
@@DShy96 it *is* the last "classic" RE game. From here we get 4, which may be overrated and is still about quintessential as far as care, love and effort in a game can be said, which overhauled the game; then 5, which is just GOW and 6 which we don't speak of. The remakes hybridize 4-5 with 7.
The switching characters actually do exist in other game later on the franchise. Resident Evil Revelations 2 has two couple of characters each one of them with gameplay changes so you need to play both to keep going. BTW, yeah, it's a shame they didn't try this on RE5 or RE6 aswell.
Ehhhhh...from what I played of RE Rev 2 it doesn't really play like RE 0. RE 0 I literally can switch to person A to person B and even park a person anytime I want (which can be problematic at times. One time I was Billy, switched to Rebecca, parked Billy, and had Rebbecca investigate a series of areas alone. I wound up getting pwned ate by a frog hunter. On the retry I went through with the area with both of them and the frog hunter was a no show). RE Rev 2 played like RE Rev 1 where you're X person with y partner.
@@naclynerickii Re0 is a survival horror and Rev2 is more like an action Game with some survival hints, obviously the whole experience is different in both cases. Btw, you still can give orders to character A or B about staying at some point or follow you the same way you do on Re0 and needing to switch between them to progress in the Game is quite similar to what happens in Re0 (or even better)

Rebecca did mention that she checked the engine before heading out for the mission (not quite sure why the 17 year old medic was checking a helicopter engine but alright) and Wesker's plan was to get combat data from the S.T.A.R.S. team so it's safe to assume that he was behind the helicopter crash and gathared data from both teams, Bravo team in the forest and training facility and Alpha team in the Spencer Mansion. Not a fact though, just putting small pieces together.
Despite its flaws I remember a 12 year old me playing through this game, appreciating the horror aspects at the time. Looking at it now, I think it was a huge mistake to make Rebecca the lead character due to the numerous implications it would have with the Rebecca we see in RE1. Why not make Enrico the main character? Sounds like he went through a hell of a lot more and could have stumbled more onto the secrets of Umbrella, giving us a more fleshed our prequel. And my god, Marcus makes for one of the worse villains in the series. His backstory was good enough but it’s what he actually did that was lackluster. Why not atleast show us him infecting the Mansion? Why did he have no interest in killing Wesker/Birkin despite their direct involvement in his death and his personal interest in them when he was alive? This game just reeks of wasted opportunity
Maybe Marcus wanted to use Rebecca and Billy as leech controlled henchpersons to kill Wesker and Birkin. Rebecca acted differently in RE1 in order to avoid accidentally revealing that Billy was alive.
Also, centipedes are able to sting with each one of their legs. Just a scratch from a centipede that size should kill Rebecca or at least send her into shock. I call bs that she didn’t get a scratch being picked up.
@冴島 大河Xx Hypercosmo1 xX that's a good argument. I remember in RE4, Leon says that Umbrella was exposed as being responsible for Raccoon City and other outbreaks. As a result their stocks plummeted and they tucked tail. UC shows how the exposure happened.

0:29- I gotta say this about Survivor. Yes, the product we got was heavily flawed. However, if Capcom took a chance to remake the game with its first person perspective, and made it VR, it could seriously be one of the video games' all time great redemption stories.

I've been saying that since the remake and RE0 here first released, somehow Enrico was able to make it al the way from the events of RE0 to the later art of RE1 which means he definitely had to take on some serious shit to get that far and I'm legit curious as to what.
I like to think that since we don’t see the Tunnel leading to the underground lab, there might be a fork in the track so both cable cars can go to the lab but not the other place IE RPD and the mountains
Had issues with this game too, particularly the sidelining of the S.T.A.R.S Bravo team members A.G.A.I.N. Do you remember the OG game disc case? Had a cool booklet with the case that detailed the STARS members. It was literally more detail for expendable characters than you'd ever see. Playing the game without reading it just made Kenneth and Forrest bodies. Edward was named in it and I suppose it was added later to explain the severed hand that was cut. Every game in the series following that just throws the characters out there and--- meh... This game had an opportunity to flesh out those characters and decided to introduce a new one. I loved the game play but wished that Richard or at least Enrico had been more involved

Speaking of the forbidden island, was anyone else shocked to see the RE7 story continuing in the RE8 trailer? I mean, on the one hand, I think Ethan and Mia are the blandest pair in the franchise, but on the other, it is nice to see characters introduced after RE2 return for a main entry.

He belonged to a unnamed organization that was after samples of the G virus to make a fortune off it and kill off people responsible for the G virus in terms of vaccines or making it itself. He wasn't full Umbrella. As one of the guys said "We are mercenaries hired by Umbrella to work for Umbrella. Were not Umbrella fully". I believe it was Carlos. Hunk was tied to the one guy in Code Veronica who was trying to revive his sister. But according to ORC Hunk bumped members of the Umbrella cleanup crew that were sent by Wesker to kill William and destroy any trace of the G Virus.

Capcom seems to have a really big thing for introducing new characters in the Resident Evil series, and then proceeding to only use them ONCE.
Which is weird seeing how you would think an escaped convict like Billy Coen, innocent or not, would probably be considered a very wanted person, even AFTER the nuking of Raccoon City.
Ya it seems capcom is afraid to introduce new characters into the universe. Like every time a new character is introduced its alongside a returning character almost like its meant to be a back up plan like if you don’t like Sheva it’s ok you have Chris. That’s one of the things that I loved about Re7 is that the cast was completely original and we only had a cameo with Chris, for me that’s all I needed and I could actually enjoy the new characters without old ones taking the spotlight.

@@valentds That isn't completely true one of its DLCs allows you to have two characters who shot. Anyway I kinda like the weak character dynamic for co-op its not really useful when you play solo as well there is no real communicating with a friend to point a flashlight at a strong enemy so you can hit him a bunch or using the wee girl to point out weak spots (actually that's kinda useful so Moria is more useless than the wee girl I forget her name though)

I didn't like how easy MK 11 felt and how it's so programmed to be making it so easy to play and be cheap as. I felt playing during launch was enough for me. Aftermath disinterested me and continues to do so. I just hope the next Mortal Kombat game isn't so easy to play, projectile spam BS, and BS combo BS. MK XL I liked. I have played the MK games since 1 and 11 felt like trash to me story, game-play, and DLC wise.

I always thought the reason Billy asked to team up with Rebecca before the train started moving was because he encountered BOWS outside of the train and what further adds tp my theory is the fact that zombie dogs jump through the train window after attacking Edward. Also also you said it yourself Bravo team never conducted an investigation on what killed the people transporting Billy, but anyway that was just my thoughts on it.

This bugged the hell out of me when I played it. You take a cable car at least some distance away from the training facility, to the marshalling yard, but can use the elevator here to access the train crash site at the training facility?
I found a map online that shows the two versions of the marshalling yard (0 and 2) and it looks like you access it from a different cable car in each game

Resident evil zero still holds up graphically the pre-rendered backrounds are really well done this is one of my favorite resident evil games.
The pre-rendered background look gorgeous sure. But the effects/character models are very downgraded from Re1make. In Re1 they had flesh grinding sounds when you shot zombies and blood looked a lot better. Re Zero lacks this level of detail
Out of all the characters that ended up getting the shaft, I feel Rebecca was the most frustrating.

@@DShy96 it *is* the last "classic" RE game. From here we get 4, which may be overrated and is still about quintessential as far as care, love and effort in a game can be said, which overhauled the game; then 5, which is just GOW and 6 which we don't speak of. The remakes hybridize 4-5 with 7.
The switching characters actually do exist in other game later on the franchise. Resident Evil Revelations 2 has two couple of characters each one of them with gameplay changes so you need to play both to keep going.
BTW, yeah, it's a shame they didn't try this on RE5 or RE6 aswell.
Ehhhhh...from what I played of RE Rev 2 it doesn't really play like RE 0. RE 0 I literally can switch to person A to person B and even park a person anytime I want (which can be problematic at times. One time I was Billy, switched to Rebecca, parked Billy, and had Rebbecca investigate a series of areas alone. I wound up getting pwned ate by a frog hunter. On the retry I went through with the area with both of them and the frog hunter was a no show). RE Rev 2 played like RE Rev 1 where you're X person with y partner.

Btw, you still can give orders to character A or B about staying at some point or follow you the same way you do on Re0 and needing to switch between them to progress in the Game is quite similar to what happens in Re0 (or even better)

Rebecca did mention that she checked the engine before heading out for the mission (not quite sure why the 17 year old medic was checking a helicopter engine but alright) and Wesker's plan was to get combat data from the S.T.A.R.S. team so it's safe to assume that he was behind the helicopter crash and gathared data from both teams, Bravo team in the forest and training facility and Alpha team in the Spencer Mansion.
Not a fact though, just putting small pieces together.
Despite its flaws I remember a 12 year old me playing through this game, appreciating the horror aspects at the time. Looking at it now, I think it was a huge mistake to make Rebecca the lead character due to the numerous implications it would have with the Rebecca we see in RE1. Why not make Enrico the main character? Sounds like he went through a hell of a lot more and could have stumbled more onto the secrets of Umbrella, giving us a more fleshed our prequel. And my god, Marcus makes for one of the worse villains in the series. His backstory was good enough but it’s what he actually did that was lackluster. Why not atleast show us him infecting the Mansion? Why did he have no interest in killing Wesker/Birkin despite their direct involvement in his death and his personal interest in them when he was alive? This game just reeks of wasted opportunity
Maybe Marcus wanted to use Rebecca and Billy as leech controlled henchpersons to kill Wesker and Birkin.
Rebecca acted differently in RE1 in order to avoid accidentally revealing that Billy was alive.
Also, centipedes are able to sting with each one of their legs. Just a scratch from a centipede that size should kill Rebecca or at least send her into shock. I call bs that she didn’t get a scratch being picked up.
With the item box no longer existing in this game, I used to go all around the map for all items, then choose a room to dump them all🤣

I like to think that since we don’t see the Tunnel leading to the underground lab, there might be a fork in the track so both cable cars can go to the lab but not the other place IE RPD and the mountains

Do you remember the OG game disc case? Had a cool booklet with the case that detailed the STARS members. It was literally more detail for expendable characters than you'd ever see. Playing the game without reading it just made Kenneth and Forrest bodies. Edward was named in it and I suppose it was added later to explain the severed hand that was cut. Every game in the series following that just throws the characters out there and--- meh...
This game had an opportunity to flesh out those characters and decided to introduce a new one. I loved the game play but wished that Richard or at least Enrico had been more involved

Marcus probably had a spy leech with wesker and birkin. That solves the 2 way communication anachronism. He used this in the novel.
Marcus takes on Rebecca and Billy instead of getting revenge on Umbrella for one very simple reason - it is NOT James Marcus. It is Queen Leech who just used Marcus' corpse for its own purposes. Real Marcus was dead all along and was not directly involved in any of it.
