I can't believe I just now found this video, but thank you so much for sharing. While Alan rightfully stole the show, this is still a moment that deserves to be preserved.
I was at the Brooks & Dunn performance in Allegan, Michigan on 9/13/01 where after 2 days of being in shock , you opened up the show with the Star Bangled Banner as Ronnie Dunn read about a statement of the freedom all of us enjoy. Great show, we still have the confetti that was shot out. Hands down the best concert I have ever seen!
@@shapro88 watch their mouths, and their hands on the guitars. They are behind. They have been under scrutiny for years for not playing "live" at awards shows and out on tour.
WoW, Charlie Crowe! I am a guitarist (long retired) of nearly 57 years (this is 6Oct2018), and that was exactly what I was thinking ... "I wonder if that guy is nervous, jumping right into part of 'The Banner'"? But you nailed it nicely!! I love this song by B&D and IIRC, it was the first out either just before, or right after 9/11, and I marveled at their timing. Great job on all the music on this song, on this show. And good for you for being there. And YES, Alan Jackson's "Where Were You?" was incredible and still brings tears, to this day ... Worse coming, I am afraid, though, as God's clock and calendar begin to wind down ...
Hey, I'm a guitarist, too (only thirteen, but I play)! They did do this song nicely, and I had no idea it first outted right after 9/11, thanks for the info. Now it brings more meaning to the song for me. God bless you, and his clock is winding down.
The CMA sucks now 90's country to early 2000's country is bomb. I now only listen to Luke combs, and red dirt country/Texas country like Cody Johnson and Turnpike Troubadors
If we could only go back to the time we were all so united.
Can we go back to this America?!
Yessss. I think we all want to. It’s in our hearts.
We need to go back to this America-desperately-before it's too late. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️
Yes agreeeeeeeed
Still, after 17 years, one of the best produced videos of all time! Made me a country music fan.

I saw them perform this on September 12,2001 in York PA. Never forget what a great show! Opened with the National Anthem.
Ronnie Dunn's powerful vocals and Kix Brooks getting down on that guitar! One of the most memorable performances ever for me during that time.
Ronnie and Kix were air guitaring.only charlies guitar was LIVE, the others were backtracked through the speakers.
@@mattbingham2856 How can toy tell that? The video quality is so bad that you can't see that. Seriously, how can you tell that?

And that's how you open a CMA Awards.

Ronnie changed the lyrics
He did after 9/11. The song had come out before the attacks.
I'm sorry but this song came out before 9/11/2001
Allan Jackson song where you when the towers fell should have been song of the year
Came out about 6 week before in the Summer I believe. Song was EVERYWHERE.
