In all fairness I don't really think you can have a top 10 top Country songs of all time without it being a top 500 list ( at least) . Because there are so many Great Country classics that deserve recognition.
My personal opinion is, most of what Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Bobby Bare, Tompall Glaser and Kris Kristofferson, sang deserves to be at No1
"Kiss an Angel Good Morning" and "Is Anybody Going to San Antone" by Charley Pride, "I Cross my Heart" by George Strait and "Livjn' on Love" by Allan Jackson would have got my vote!

I have to say: David Allan Coe - You Never Even Call Me By My Name ... is the perfect country and western song. It says so in the lyrics. written by Steve Goodman.
My top 10 Ray Price For The Good Times, John Connelly Rose Colored Glasses, Brooks and Dunns Neon Moon, and/or Paint Me A Birmingham by Tracy Lawrence. Don't Close Your Eyes by Keith Whitlley, I Let Her Lie by Darrell Singletary, or maybe Remember When Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt's Anymore. Blues Eyes Crying In The Rain and Hello Walls by Faron Young. I've never been in the US, but I fell in love with country music when I spent some months living with my sister who was married to an american military in Germany and she introduced me to a friend by the name of John Lynch from Colorado who used to wear cowboy hat and boots. He bought me a couple of cassettes at the army commissary and took me to a place where there were pretty german girls dancing country music and told one of them to teach me how to dance, and God! I've totally got stuck to country music forever, and I'm panamanian and I can tell you, lots of people in Latin America love country music. Greetings from Panama.
Anything Johnny cash hits a different chord with me, my grandfather was his steel guitarist. So naturally Cash influenced the majority of my upbringing.
Wow your grandfather was Johnny Cash's steel guitarist ! How wonderful ! I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, as my Dad was a big fan, and my siblings and I also became fans. Saw him in concert twice. Love his music.

I still love Johnny Cash, I remember calling my grandma crying because Johnny Cash broke my heart by marrying June Carter even though I had never met him before lol, my grandma calmed me down and went to my friends house and picked me up and took me home.
Everyone who grew up with country music knows there are hundreds of great country artists. Unlike today on country radio the same few songs are played to death.
I remember telling my children once that the best music in music history was 60s and 70's Country and Rock. They actually played their music and sang not to mention wrote!! Soul too.🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊
Patsy Cline's "Crazy" is the top jukebox song of all time. It's as good today as it was the day Willie Nelson wrote it. Maybe, just maybe it should be #!.
Oh my god I love Johnny cash I actually screamed when I found Johnny was first . Please go listen to his other songs cocaine blues Folsome prison walk the line and then there’s the group highway man and America remains are good ones ❤️
Hank would of filled the top best 50 songs. I love Johnny but Sunday morning coming down was and is better then ring of fire, but nothing beats your cheating heart by Hank Sr.
Considering Dolly’s I Will Always Love You being more successful than a few of these at least, it deserves a place on the list. When it goes to #1 for weeks and weeks by two different artists and appears on one of the top 10 albums of all time, that’s pretty impressive.
When I was thumbing from Montgomery I had my guitar on my back When a stranger stopped beside me in an antique Cadillac He was dressed like 1950 Half drunk and hollow eyed He said it's a long walk to Nashville Would you like a ride? Son Well, I sat down in the front seat He turned on the radio And them sad old songs coming outta them speakers was solid country gold Then I noticed the stranger was ghost white pale When I asked him for a light And I knew there was something strange about this ride He said, "Mister, can you make folks cry when you play and sing? Have you paid your dues? Can you moan the blues? Can you bend them guitar strings?" He said, "Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside? 'Cause if you're big star bound let me warn you it's a long hard ride"
One of your 'honorable mentions,' "El Paso," by Marty Robbins, dominated both the country and pop music charts in the spring and summer of 1960. It should have been among the top 10. Likewise, "Coal Miner's Daughter."
We got one in my area recently that's 70's 80's and 90's and I hear it everywhere, lol. And thank God because certain stores, etc would have on today's country because that was the only option in local country stations and I had no choice but to listen to some of it. I was genuinely stunned at some of the crap I heard.
Cash is great but you forced "ring of fire" to number 1 because of his overall popularity. "He stopped loving her today" is number 1 on way more list than any other song. Any hardcore country fan knows this song takes the cake. how is Waylon not on this list but Kenny Rogers is?You might as well throw Taylor swift in there while your at it. Kenny was as pop back then as she is today
Sorry I love Cash but I agree with you, Waylon "owned " the 70s and where's Kris!? As for Rogers people forget he was a failed pop singer who's country career flamed out relatively quickly. I'm biased but Waylon gave country it's edge, while Kris gave it maturity ( nobody was singing about sex like he did)
+Tommy Petersen I like cash as well but I personally think "he stopped loving her today" should be #1 for allot of reasons. Like I said I've watched allot of all time top country songs lists and this song is consistently on top. I wish one of Waylon's songs were on here and the only person I could justify disqualifying is Kenny Rogers. All the other songs on the list are legit. Mojo needs to make a top male country artist list. They have a female but I can't find a top male list.
+Derek Rogers I never really thought if Rodgers as a country artist, he just sort of fell into some good songs but once that well dried up he faded. Waylon on the other hand, country, rebel, and trailblazer.
+Derek Rogers 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' has to be the greatest Country Anthem ever penned. Cash deserves to be on the list but not #1. Kristofferson didn't even get a mention!?!?!? 'Loving Her Was Easier' was lived by every man who is a man. I just don't get it. Dixie Chicks, Kenny Rogers ??? it would nearly put me back on the drink just thinking about it. No Buck Owens, DAC, Marty Robbins. Is it just me???
+sledge1960 I am sorry nut Kristofferson never had the voice. Great actor, would see any movie he was ever in. He was only a basic guitarist, and there are many artists that only sing. But he often sings off key and has no strength in his voice. It was only his acting career that ever let him on stage.
Out in the west Texas town of El Paso... Seven Spanish Angels, at the alter of the sun. Poncho needs your prayers it’s true, but save a few for lefty too.
Other good ones: Don Williams (e.g., "Good Ole Boys Like Me") "Seven Spanish Angels" Something written by Kristofferson (e.g., "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" sung by Willie or Cash) "Pancho & Lefty" Patsy Cline "Walkin' after Midnight" Something by Emmylou Harris (e.g., "Red Dirt Girl") Bonnie Raitt "Something to Talk about" Alabama "Song of the South" ... and lots more from Willie--e.g., "Angel Flyin' too Close to the Ground", "Unfair Weather Friend", "The Last Thing I Needed", and "When They Lay Me Down"
My all-time favorite country song is "Midnight In Montgomery" by Alan Jackson. This song is what got me into country music. There's a zillion other country songs that I could list being great, but I'll leave it at that!
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry is no doubt the greatest country hit. Leaving it off the list for Your Cheatin Heart is ridiculous. And Folsom County Blues is better than Ring of Fire.
+Steve Hammer I'm weird, my favorite is Luke the Drifter's Ramblin Man. Frizell and West, You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma....reworking of Rocky Top. Fave non-English: DL Menard- The Back Door...and why not Dwight Yoakum instead of Dixie Chicks ?
How in the world did it turn...just watched...or let’s say I used my remote to fast forward the country music awards...other than Reba there was very little country in anything I heard....hated it
I'm from London England. I love Country. Ghost Riders, pretty much anything by the Highwaymen, Country will always be, when other genres have long died. Keep on. Oh, Me and Bobby McGee.....great!!
+Tommy Truth I agree with Styler Prime - I'm 16 and listen to singers like Johnny Cash and Chris Ledoux. You have to remember that not every young person is the same - however I do agree that most modern and recent music is quite bad. I listen to almost every genre of music, with some dating back to the 60's onwards.
+Stephen Morris Agreed. Now they are Pop Singers singing about stupid chit. Some even have rap crap playing on the radio. What the heck!?! I don't have satellite radio in my truck but I bless my cd player.
Fun fact: Garth Brooks’ smash hit “Friends in low places”, was originally recorded by legendary country artist Mark Chesnutt. Garth was able to get it rolled out before Mark, and the rest was history.
Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way is one of the most influential songs for country music. Waylon definitely deserves to be in the top 10 for so many reasons
the highway men as a group and song should be on this list so they wouldn't have to separate songs for all of the highway men. there are way to many songs by the greats that are equally as good.
10 years on the road doing one night stands, speeding my young life away. Now tell me one more time so that I understand, are you sure Hank done it this way. Waylon was too good to put in this pack.
Cash would be the first to tell you that there are many besides himself. Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Roy Acuff, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, and the list goes on. Enjoy your Johnny Cash records. How did I leave Merle out?
Ghost Riders in the Sky (Johnny Cash), Thank God I’m a Country Boy (John Denver), I Will Always Love You (Dolly Parton), Home on the Range (Gene Autry), I Can’t Stop Loving You (Ray Charles), Rawhide (Frankie Lane), Happy Trails (Roy Rogers), Back in the Saddle Again (Gene Autry)
Wait a gosh darn minute. Last week you guys did the "Top ten Johnny Cash Songs." and "I Walk the Line" was #1 and "Ring of Fire" was #2. Now ROF is the #1 country song of all time? Did you forget your own list from just last week?
It's called being objective and it boils down to the criteria. Recall we went with Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven in Top 10 Iconic Rock Songs , yet didn't choose that as Led Zep's top song in Top 10 Led Zeppelin Songs . So, we think it works as is for similar reasons. If we're talking what the best Johnny Cash songs are, things that really say who and what Cash is then Walk the Line would have to be the top spot. It's the one that really gave him the career and the sound. If we're talking best country then we Think Ring of Fire does top it. It's more innovative, lively and a bit more modern. We think Walk the Line instantly goes to a certain artist and era, Ring of Fire is more in tune to the shape of the genre.
I understand that there is a difference in theory, but in reality there is very little that can be differentiated between the two and most people won't get that you are making a distinction between a "top ten song" and a top ten iconic song". Its all the same in the minds of your average youtube viewer. Anyhow, I love your top ten lists so keep em coming. And while I have your attention, let me suggests a video. How about a top ten Disney Sidekicks.
Or ..Hank Jr ,..or D.A.C.! "Well, I was thumbin' from Montgomery I had my guitar on my back When a stranger stopped beside me in an antique Cadillac... He was dressed like 1950 Half drunk and hollow-eyed He said, "It's a long walk to Nashville Would you like a ride, son?""
George Jones and Johnny Cash swap places. "He Stopped Loving Her Today" Is phenomenal and my vote for number one of all time. "Coal Miner's Daughter" should definitely be in this list, in the top 5. Overall, very good content.😀😀😀
Chorrell Klaverweide I have several favorites I could list, but that does not mean they should make an all-time top ten list. For the most part, I thought they hit on some correct choices. However, as I see it, it is just nearly impossible to come up with a definitive all-time top ten. There have been basically thousands of great country music songs over the past sixty years.. :-] By the way, your picture is a little hard to see, but from what I do see, I like.. :-]
"He Stopped Loving Her Today" should have been number one. Many lists and artists cite this song as THE greatest CW song of all time. It will always be my fav and the rest are not even close.
"Good ole boys like me", sung by Don Williams goes down as my favorite of all time. The lyrics grab you if you're "country". The greatest lyrics in country, by a mile. And Don was no slouch as a singer either. A modern day troubadour.
In every state There's a station Playin Cash, Hank, Willie and Waylon In foreign cars and 4 wheel drives It's cowboys, hillbillies From farm towns, to big cities There ain't no doubt in my mind COUNTRY MUST BE COUNTRY WIDE
Where is John Denver's Take Me Home (Country Roads)? Don't try to say he was a folk singer either, because Mojo's list of top 10 folk artists actually says that Denver didn't make that list because he was considered a country artist. Denver didn't even get an honorable mention, yet the Dixie Chicks did, this list is a joke.
They can keep all tne songs that are already on here, the list should have been longer to add more artist like John Denver, Hank Williams Jr and Conway Twitty.
More than 30 years ago I was watching a country video clip with many singers together singing for something ( unfortunately I don’t remember the title 😔) but since then I became a huge fan of country music ♥️
"Country Boy Can Survive?" . . . "Family Tradition?" . . . "Don't you think this outlaw business done got out of hand?" . . . "Lonesome Onry and Mean?" . . . "I stopped loving her today?"
you never even called me by my name. but yea all those ole bocephus songs that aren't on here is just a joke. and with all do respect to the all time great Johnny Cash, ring of fire doesn't deserve the number one spot. I mean it's not even country TBH.
+Jess James Bocephus and the others won't receive full love and adornment until after they are dead. That's unfortunate; they've inspired many of the acts today (although the folks these days are deplorable)
+Brian Williams - there is a lot of truth to that statement, but I think that depends on the artist... Johnny Cash was the youngest person ever to be inducted into the country music hall of fame, and the ONLY person ever living or dead to be inducted into all three hall of fame's "songwriters, rock n' roll, and country music- and all of that happened while he was still ALIVE also. George Jones was given just about every award on Earth all while he was still living... Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson have been awarded a slew of achievement awards in the last few decades and both are still breathing to this day... Some people think old Hank Jr. doesn't get the recognition he deserves because he is more of a non-conformist... an outlaw... but all of those people that I just mentioned were all non-conformist outlaw types. If you told any one of those people how to perform their music or what songs they should sing, they would have shown you how to fit a foot up your ass then do what they wanted to do anyhow! I think Hank Jr. deserves more than he get's... but like you said- they will probably only take notice when he is unfortunately not around anymore. Seems like in this fast paced world people never really notice what they have until its GONE.
But Luckenbach Texas is more of a commercial than a song. Willie and Waylon did lots better songs both together and separately. I can definitely think of Waylon songs they could have included but then I'm a Texan so I'm biased.
I think they threw in the Dixie Chicks because they thought they were being edgy. Dixie Chicks are OK but I am not sad that they never really recovered after their political rant. Now political rants are a staple any time people buy tickets.
@@Gunnerb52 dixie chicks: the iraq war was idiotic trump tards: burn them! trump: i was against the iraq war, it was dumb trump tards: that's awesome! cons: just the dumbest least principled people in the world, no way around it
"He Stopped Loving Her Today" should be number 1. But, really, country songs should not be ranked; we should just love them all. Everyone's taste is different.
I've been playing nightclubs professionally for 40 years and I played all kinds of music heavy metal Rock blues country Bavarian folk you name it but I thought to myself when I play this video it better have luckenbach Texas on there or I'm going to throw my phone and guess what the very first song was you got it Waylon Jennings luckenbach Texas that's a beautiful best country song ever written love the way he sings this
Some Broken Hearts Never Mend - Don Williams. Classic.
Don is underrated.
@@the_illegitimate_jedi3479 Agreed, that song is in my head at least once a week.
A good song but nowhere near the top10. Not ever close. Johnny Cash had a top 10 list and every one was better than anything Don Williams ever did.

You have warm memories of him. He sounds like he was a good man.
That's the year I was born
That's actually George Jones not Johnny Cash
The best thing is this list could be 500 songs and we'd still all be pissed off our favorites weren't on it because there are so many good ones
Most of mine were on here
I was hoping for "class of 57"
Exactly! Country is the best, the lifestyle, the story’s, everything about it is awesome!

There's great country today....!!! Luke Bryan...all kids of great songs...IL come back with. A list lol
I like the way Linda Rondstadt does it. The voice and the style comes together.

I came here to say that. Unfortunately, these lists tend to be America-centric.
When country was 🎉🎉REAL and alive🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
Hank Williams could have filled the entire top 10!
Hank could make a Blues singer cry!
Yes sir. All Top 10 should be the man. HS
Best country singer ever
I agree
Hank would of filled the top best 50 songs. I love Johnny but Sunday morning coming down was and is better then ring of fire, but nothing beats your cheating heart by Hank Sr.
In your opionion
Considering Dolly’s I Will Always Love You being more successful than a few of these at least, it deserves a place on the list. When it goes to #1 for weeks and weeks by two different artists and appears on one of the top 10 albums of all time, that’s pretty impressive.
It's more of a ballad, sang by a country singer... But not really a country song.
Couldn’t agree more. I can’t stand it, no matter who sings it. It’s an absolute shocker.
Loba Étoile couldn’t disagree more. It definitely has plenty of country elements.

When I was thumbing from Montgomery
I had my guitar on my back
When a stranger stopped beside me in an antique Cadillac
He was dressed like 1950
Half drunk and hollow eyed
He said it's a long walk to Nashville
Would you like a ride? Son
Well, I sat down in the front seat
He turned on the radio
And them sad old songs coming outta them speakers was solid country gold
Then I noticed the stranger was ghost white pale
When I asked him for a light
And I knew there was something strange about this ride
He said, "Mister, can you make folks cry when you play and sing?
Have you paid your dues? Can you moan the blues?
Can you bend them guitar strings?"
He said, "Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside?
'Cause if you're big star bound let me warn you it's a long hard ride"

I thought this was a top 10 myself
You don’t have to call me mister, mister, the whole world calls me Hank!
Sweet memories.
Now that really is a great song!
One of your 'honorable mentions,' "El Paso," by Marty Robbins, dominated both the country and pop music charts in the spring and summer of 1960. It should have been among the top 10. Likewise, "Coal Miner's Daughter."
One of the greatest songs of all time
That was a good one
El Paso. Marty.
That was a great song.

I wish they had a radio station just for older music because I like them
There is one XM channel 59. Willies place. All old country
We got one in my area recently that's 70's 80's and 90's and I hear it everywhere, lol. And thank God because certain stores, etc would have on today's country because that was the only option in local country stations and I had no choice but to listen to some of it. I was genuinely stunned at some of the crap I heard.

AMEN!!! PLUS HE ALWAYS PLAYS OVERTIME IN CONCERT! THE BEST!
I feel so fortunate being able to listen to these unique singers no singers today can perform like them.
There were a number of songs from johnny cash that should have made the list like
1) folsom prison blues
2)I walk the line
3)Boy named sue
I think his later ones like “gods gonna cut you down” and “hurt” are really powerful songs
Ring of fire
Sunday Morning Coming Down is also a wonderful Johnny Cash song.
General lee as well
Rusty Cage

Seven Spanish Angels, at the alter of the sun.
Poncho needs your prayers it’s true, but save a few for lefty too.
Every time I hear Patsy singing "Crazy", it warms my heart and blows my mind. Such a woman!
The Statler Brothers, “I’ll Go to My Grave Loving You” deserved to be here. Johnny Horton an honorable mention.
It how the singer sings the song and present it.
Thank you world was my favorite Statler brothers song. Also love the great Ronnie Millsap

@@wildturkey3776 yes sir. Agree. In my top 10 list, I'd have to put Conway as #1A.
Other good ones:
Don Williams (e.g., "Good Ole Boys Like Me")
"Seven Spanish Angels"
Something written by Kristofferson (e.g., "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" sung by Willie or Cash)
"Pancho & Lefty"
Patsy Cline "Walkin' after Midnight"
Something by Emmylou Harris (e.g., "Red Dirt Girl")
Bonnie Raitt "Something to Talk about"
Alabama "Song of the South"
... and lots more from Willie--e.g., "Angel Flyin' too Close to the Ground", "Unfair Weather Friend", "The Last Thing I Needed", and "When They Lay Me Down"
It's about time someone mentioned Don Williams.

You have to remember that not every young person is the same - however I do agree that most modern and recent music is quite bad. I listen to almost every genre of music, with some dating back to the 60's onwards.

By the way, your picture is a little hard to see, but from what I do see, I like.. :-]
Amarillo By Morning. Such a beautiful song.

you never even called me by my name. but yea all those ole bocephus songs that aren't on here is just a joke. and with all do respect to the all time great Johnny Cash, ring of fire doesn't deserve the number one spot. I mean it's not even country TBH.
+Bocephus Falcons Guy Bocephus never get's his due
+jweyek Your Cheating Heart was on the list at #6.
Luckenbach Texas? Really no Waylon but you mention the Dixie Chicks
But Luckenbach Texas is more of a commercial than a song. Willie and Waylon did lots better songs both together and separately. I can definitely think of Waylon songs they could have included but then I'm a Texan so I'm biased.
