Those fireman that ran up the stairs knowing they probably wouldn't be coming back are the definition of tough. Thats what courage looks like!
Amen! More of a hero than I will ever be. God Bless, them. They are (were) what our Nation is!
Greater love have no man, than to lay down his life for his brother
The police and military, and civilians too!
I donated blood. I was 85 pounds. Not a mother. I want allowed to go. But God damn did I give ever ounce of blood that I was allowed to.

I am Canadian but cry when watching this - I was in New York City and at ground zero 4 months after 9/11 when people cared about one another, were kind, receptive - sad how that city has changed 😢 I worked in the Air traffic Control field in Vancouver BC, that day - one of the hardest most exhausting days ever!

THE HAIRS ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD STAND UP. I AM THE OF 7 SONS .
I feel the same way, and this video of the first performance, seeing the look on Alan's face and knowing the song comes straight from his heart, just add so that feeling.
I know exactly what you mean. And with tomorrow being 9/11, I had to look it up and listen to it a time or two.
Today being 9/11 I went on UA-cam to most definitely to listen to this song.
I heard Alan Jackson say once that he didn’t write this song. God did.
God did write the song and gave Alan the voice to sing it😊. RESPECT FROM ENGLAND 🇬🇧 😊ENGLAND 🇬🇧 . GIVE BLOOD 😊.

I'll be seeing Alan Jackson live tonight in Des Moines IA on the 20th anniversary on 9/11 probably gonna shed a tear. All I'm gonna say is God bless America.
I live a meer 2 hours away from Des Moines, and would love to be there tonight; especially because it's 9/11. Y'all enjoy, and stay safe ❣
Mason, I've been in tears all morning. 20 years on and there are still 1,106 beautiful people, or 40% of victims, that have yet to be identified. The ache continues for their families and the loss of loved ones in this attack can never be soothed. Never ever, ever, EVER forget. Enjoy Alan's concert. I'm sure you'll shed a few tears. When I was 7, my Twin died. When I was 11, I was diving off a high rock alone and hit my head on the reef below. I felt something grab me and pull me to shore. When I looked up at who saved me. It was my 7 year old twin brother who looked like how i remember him. He then said I be OK and literally just disappeared hovering over me !
Can wait to see him and thank him in Heaven. I still cry today, remembering my NDE.
So TRUE this song will never get old because, Alan Jackson wrote this song for all those people who lost loved ones on September 11th. God Bless America 🇺🇸.

You can hear in his voice how difficult this was to perform. Usually such a strong and steady tone, but you can hear him quiver trying to get through. So raw and emotional.
I still remember watching it on TV when he did this performance.
A lot of performers seem to fake their emotions during a song.
For certain,these emotions weren't faked.

To the future generations that see this: never forget about this important event in history. And certainly, don’t let this song die out. This very day is a day to be remembered by all. It was never meant as a joke in the first place.
Never. Forget.

I don't think I'll ever forget that I was at work the day of this senseless & tragic day 😢Watching that 1st plane hit the 1st Twin Tower just seemed, surreal to me. I was in complete shock at 1st, then Watching the news coverage of all it, it just hit me & I could not stop the tears from flowing 😢
It was all just so horrific to watch as the rest of 9/11 unfolded. One of the things I saw happen on TV that day, that, for one reason or another, that haunts me still, almost 23 years later, was watching some of the victims jumping from extreme heights, to their deaths....God Bless to everybody, whether here or watching over us, who perished "When the World Stopped Turning" 🇺🇲🫡💔🙏
Alan, Thank You for writing such a beautiful song 🙏
I remember I was at work ( bread delivery ) went back out into my truck turned on the radio and I didn't hear the beggining. The radio station I listened to did scits every so often and I was hearing what happened and at first thought it was one of their radio productions only to realise it was actually a news broadcast. The rest of my day I was just angry. I got home determined not to show that anger to my family, shortly my kids got home from school ( high school ) they were playing the news in all the class rooms, the look of fear and sadness on their faces made me even angrier and I just held them. I will never forget that day nor the pain it caused so many.
23 years ago and I still remember that tragic day very well

What can i say I remember 911 very well. I'm a country born & raised person. I love this country. If you don't love this country get out. There's too much hatred, why can't we all get along
20yrs later and this song still has the same impact and has me in tears. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. I'm Canadian and I remember going to work that day and everyone was like zombies in shock and disbelief at what happened to our neighbours that day. Another thing that hit us was the stories of people we knew from work that missed their flights the day before that would've been in the towers when it happened if they hadn't missed their flights. I will never forget the evil that attacked and murdered those in the buildings, surrounding areas and planes.
@@samuelspencer6016 you're welcome and I'd gladly help my American neighbours anytime if I could. Yes I love my country but if I couldn't Canadian then I'd want to be American. I pray our countries will get back to what we felt 20yrs ago and get back to being more civilized and caring for others

Watched a 20 year retrospective, last night. Still brings me to tears, yet a lot of pride & happiness to see a lot of positive things rise from the ashes.
I was Swamping a Bar in Thermopolis Wyoming. when I seen the second plane hit on tv. I locked the doors and went home and loaded up my guns, because I didn't know what was coming. and I prayed. Down on my knees .. I have PTSD I'm a vet. I cried..

Oh how I remember. I was 42 years old. I had just got in the bed about 6:30 am. I was working at FedEx. About 9 o'clock am, my brother called me to ask me could I be at the hospital when our mother goes into surgery. He was a deputy chief for the Memphis police department. He had to be at a important meeting that morning. I told him yes I would. Then he went on to say to me, " I can't believe you are sleeping when your country is being attacked." I hung up, turned the TV and there it was. I pulled out a VCR tape and started recording it. I wanted to catch it in Real Time. I still have it to this day. Not trying to argue but I’m not Christian but I love this song. I feel like the message is bigger than just religion. Religion divides. This more about unity.
Been there done that. I’m 27 now, but I was a Christian teenager once. Now being a Christian adult, you think it gets easier. It don’t. In fact, it just gets harder. But just like any other challenge really, you have to just keep your chin up and keep going. Roll with the punches. Bob and weave as the boxers say. Keep praying and asking God for guidance.

I don't know if we live in that Nation anymore.

No, this nation is not the Lord God’s, and it never has been. Israel is God’s chosen, but they have a very long habit of turning their backs to Him every chance they get. But the USA? This nation has never belonged to the Lord God, only those of us who know and trust Him for forgiveness of our sins.
But when you get down to it, the entire world and the entire universe belongs to Him alone, and one day He will destroy this world and replace it with the perfection that He first created it to be, and I look forward to that day.
I watched this live, and I was an absolute puddle of tears. Yet, I was so proud at the same time. There’s a lot going on in this nation that isn’t good right now, but light always wins over darkness. There’s still those of us that love this nation, and love the Lord. This nation was founded on faith and values. We cannot lose sight of that, even in the hard and ugly times.

I was only a year older ,at first(like everyone until the second plane hit) thought it was “just”a plane crash, until they locked us
down and called our parents, and only then did I realize the magnitude of this “plane crash” and that it wasn’t an accident…I’ll remember sitting in the back of the classroom with the tv on CNN showing the smoke from the towers and my friend crying when they said the pentagon had been hit as well because his aunt worked there, for the rest of my life….I also remember that even though we were only 8-9 years old, they never tried to sugarcoat it….we need to make the US and the rest of the world a better place

I was a senior in HS when 9/11 happened. I remember when this song came out and the impact it had on everyone. 20 years later it still has an impact. Hard to believe that the events of that morning would change the lives of so many and set our lives on such unbelievable paths. I served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as a result of that day.
My son had been in the Army since 1990 right after graduation. He had just discharged when this all happened. He immediately re enlisted, only in National Guard. He stayed until after hitting a road bomb and ending up with Combat Related Familial ALS. Still a Staff Sgt the day he passed. We knew so many men AND women who quickly and quietly went to their local recruiters. I honestly wish it didn't take such a big catastrophe to hold this country together in pride and the love thy neighbor we had following 9/11.
Thank you for service.
JB84 - God bless you for your service.
Jb84 thank you for your service! And yes this changed our country forever. Because many people were not around for Pearl Harbor and being attacked on our soil is quite an eye opener. This wonderful song says it all
Thank you for your sacrifice
Dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives on that tragic September day. Never forget our fallen 9/11 heroes, and God bless America 🇺🇸 the land of the free because of the brave
I wasn't even born yet but this song is EXTREMELY powerful and emotional. I was born 2 years later. My mom said she and my father just stared at the tv here in canada. The world truly stopped that day. Rest in peace to all the victims and HERO'S of the day the world changed ❤
Still the best song to express our emotions regarding that horrible attack. Great son.
Beautiful a song sent by god ox 🙏
20 years later, it's still like yesterday. Thoughts and prayers to all of the families and friends who lost loved ones that day.

I’m just watching Country music videos right now and I clicked in this one not realizing that this was the first time he sang it in front of people.. not realizing that it was in 2001. Gave me literal chills.
My dad was a firefighter EMT working in Missouri and he watched it LIVE.. he was ready to go up to New York but somebody else took his place. My dad had to step down from the job because of his illness 'Lupus' and he recently passed away.
God bless your father!!
And my mother has lupus. It’s a real thing… I really worry about her. ❤ god bless his struggle there too😢
Always love ❤❤❤❤
Sorry for your loss
Truer words were never spoken a fitting tribute to all those who lost there lives that day on Sept 11 2001
When I heard this for the first time on the CMA Awards I can not explain the feeling that came over me. I was singing along with him like I heard the song a dozen times before that. The line in the sing that says were you driving on a cold interstate was exactly where I was when I heard what had happened.
Who is this
@AlanJacksonmusicworld no I have not... I have seen the Possum & Reba.. have yourself a nice day
