I was cleaning in the rental office waiting room. the TV was on. Large screen TV I stopped the vacuum when I saw smoke coming from the tower. I turned up the sound. My heart sunk. I walked to the office and said come and see this, it's important. I was listening to the astonishment the grief in the newsmen's words. I watched as the second plane hit. I watched during my lunch break and started to cry as the towers began to collapse. I will never forget. I excused myself to make an important call to find out where a pilot I knew was that day. They answered he is fine. That was a huge relief. But I was still in shock for the audacity of it, the loss of life, the scale of the attack. I will never forget how I felt that day. Here in the city where I went to school the staff of a Lutheran church next door to a Mosque stood around it to protect it from hate crimes because news was saying that terrorists from the Middle East had attacked the towers. It was just hearsay. Christians stood around the Mosque to protect the peaceful Muslims inside. This is America. We take care of each other. People who have faith should live it. They did. They still do. A van full of a restaurant baseball team was coming back from a game on the east coast when they heard the news on the radio. They turned around and drove to ground zero as fast they could to provide food for the survivors and first responders. I was so proud to work for them. Those are my 9/11 stories. Thanks for asking. One of the things I love about country music, its the I love my country theme, the songs that are national anthems. This is one of the best.

The ache continues for their families and the loss of loved ones in this attack can never be soothed. Never ever, ever, EVER forget. Enjoy Alan's concert. I'm sure you'll shed a few tears. What can i say I remember 911 very well. I'm a country born & raised person. I love this country. If you don't love this country get out. There's too much hatred, why can't we all get along
I'm Irish living in UK, I had just dropped my daughter off at pre-school and heard what happened on the car radio. I didn't go to work. I went home and watched TV, I couldn't stop crying, my heart broke for all those people and their families. I think everyone remembers where they were that day. Love is the greatest gift of all. God bless America and it's people.
Maybe the saddest day of my life, i got off work early to pick up my 10 yr old daughter from school as my was an nurse and i thought it was important that she stayed to help out, we lived in Pennsylvania, not far from the crash site. My daughter was crying , hell i was crying. Why? Im not sure. But once my wife got home, calmed us down. It got a little better. I Was mad. Hell im still mad. And im mad at the people that weren't and aren't mad. We were attacked and then we took shit from people when we retaliated. We didnt do enough, and it shows today. As my hero said , more than once, "From My Cold Dead Hands" you're gone Charlton but not forgotten. I hate anyone that doesnt respect the Flag or the U.S.A..
Man, I'll never forget sitting in the living room watching this for the first time on the awards with my family and when it was over none of us could speak. I truly felt that lump in my throat and we were all crying. It's such a powerful song and always will be.

What I would like to know is what happened to our Nation? We were so strong even in the face of despair we were United As One Nation Under God. Now 22 odd years later we are so far from being a United Nation it’s scary
No, this nation is not the Lord God’s, and it never has been. Israel is God’s chosen, but they have a very long habit of turning their backs to Him every chance they get. But the USA? This nation has never belonged to the Lord God, only those of us who know and trust Him for forgiveness of our sins. But when you get down to it, the entire world and the entire universe belongs to Him alone, and one day He will destroy this world and replace it with the perfection that He first created it to be, and I look forward to that day.

Same here. I remember. I cried for weeks . I saw it all. I was standing in my living room and all sudden I saw the news and I screamed we are at war. I was terrified. The weeks that followed was he'll.
My kids were in school. I knew they were okay. The news came on my TV. I stood in front of that television for at least an hour. I was sad, mad, shocked and for someone in their 30s some innocence was stolen from me that day. My kids got home from school and I hugged them and we talked. Everyone remembers where they were when they found out. I think the whole world cried. 😢
My father was born on September 11, 1928 and he served in the US Navy, and I have always wondered how he would have felt if he had been alive when that happened on his birthday. He died in June of 1978.
You can hear in his voice how difficult this was to perform. Usually such a strong and steady tone, but you can hear him quiver trying to get through. So raw and emotional.
My nephew's half brother was killed in the Pentagon that day. Wonderful kid. Learned everything i need to know about Islam and their religion that day.

@@4thegloryofthelord True - and apart from that, everyone should hear that. Your country, the noblest country in the history of men, is based on the priciples of individualism. The principles of men's inalienable rights. To life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Your own Happiness - not anyone else's. Hold that dearly! And my G-d bless America!
I saw him sing this song in August 2002. It was raining til he started singing this song. The sky cleared and the moon was full. It was an awesome moment.
I was in the Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Pendleton. I don't really remember it though. Four days after September 11th, while on Liberty I fell off a 40' cliff and smacked my head on a rock.
Oh how I remember. I was 42 years old. I had just got in the bed about 6:30 am. I was working at FedEx. About 9 o'clock am, my brother called me to ask me could I be at the hospital when our mother goes into surgery. He was a deputy chief for the Memphis police department. He had to be at a important meeting that morning. I told him yes I would. Then he went on to say to me, " I can't believe you are sleeping when your country is being attacked." I hung up, turned the TV and there it was. I pulled out a VCR tape and started recording it. I wanted to catch it in Real Time. I still have it to this day. I tip my hat off to all the one's who lost there lives fighting to save others. God be with you. R.I.P. 9/11/24
I am Canadian but cry when watching this - I was in New York City and at ground zero 4 months after 9/11 when people cared about one another, were kind, receptive - sad how that city has changed 😢 I worked in the Air traffic Control field in Vancouver BC, that day - one of the hardest most exhausting days ever!
I love this song and I know Jesus and I talk to God! I accepted Jesus when I was just 8 years old! Even now I still remember that day so vividly! I was at work at the hospital. I prayed for everyone who was there when those towers fell and planes crashed. God bless Alan Jackson for writing this song. 9/11 we will never forget!
I remember like it was yesterday was at work and went to my knees and than called my son's school and held him like never before. Our lives changed that day. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND MOSTLY OUR SEVICE MEN/WOMEN.
I don't think I'll ever forget that I was at work the day of this senseless & tragic day 😢Watching that 1st plane hit the 1st Twin Tower just seemed, surreal to me. I was in complete shock at 1st, then Watching the news coverage of all it, it just hit me & I could not stop the tears from flowing 😢 It was all just so horrific to watch as the rest of 9/11 unfolded. One of the things I saw happen on TV that day, that, for one reason or another, that haunts me still, almost 23 years later, was watching some of the victims jumping from extreme heights, to their deaths....God Bless to everybody, whether here or watching over us, who perished "When the World Stopped Turning" 🇺🇲🫡💔🙏 Alan, Thank You for writing such a beautiful song 🙏
I remember I was at work ( bread delivery ) went back out into my truck turned on the radio and I didn't hear the beggining. The radio station I listened to did scits every so often and I was hearing what happened and at first thought it was one of their radio productions only to realise it was actually a news broadcast. The rest of my day I was just angry. I got home determined not to show that anger to my family, shortly my kids got home from school ( high school ) they were playing the news in all the class rooms, the look of fear and sadness on their faces made me even angrier and I just held them. I will never forget that day nor the pain it caused so many.
To the future generations that see this: never forget about this important event in history. And certainly, don’t let this song die out. This very day is a day to be remembered by all. It was never meant as a joke in the first place. Never. Forget.

I could really focus in on what was happening, I’ve been in the I’ve been in those buildings I’ve been in New York a lot it was just kind of me everything I mean I could picture everything because I’ve been there and you know it was great to come back and be able to well. I was already back in Ohio when this happened and then your song I I was still working at that point, but now I am a retired teacher, but I still love that music because it’s it just speaks to everyone if you’re really listening so thank you for all you’ve done to kind of open everybody’s eyes and remind us what happened too!
Living in UK ..we dont have anyone like Alan. Your so blessed in USA.

I don't know if we live in that Nation anymore.

Amen

This song still gives me goosebumps.
A day I will never forget
What day?
My father was born on September 11, 1928 and he served in the US Navy, and I have always wondered how he would have felt if he had been alive when that happened on his birthday. He died in June of 1978.
You can hear in his voice how difficult this was to perform. Usually such a strong and steady tone, but you can hear him quiver trying to get through. So raw and emotional.
I still remember watching it on TV when he did this performance.
A lot of performers seem to fake their emotions during a song.
For certain,these emotions weren't faked.
Hope Alan is alright......

R.I.P. 9/11/24

It was all just so horrific to watch as the rest of 9/11 unfolded. One of the things I saw happen on TV that day, that, for one reason or another, that haunts me still, almost 23 years later, was watching some of the victims jumping from extreme heights, to their deaths....God Bless to everybody, whether here or watching over us, who perished "When the World Stopped Turning" 🇺🇲🫡💔🙏

Alan Jackson has the ability to write a heartfelt song, then sing it calmly and beautifully yet still get the point across. I appreciate that. A Steve Earle quote from one his songs “I don’t remember learning how to hate in Sunday school”. Don’t hate an entire nation for what a bunch of extremists do.
