I love how Aatrox is such a huge part of the lore but then he is absolutely useless in game

Jay Finch Aatrox has a great lore and a badass design, however his gameplay will be much better in his final rework. I really have high hopes for him

just thinking blue eyes and red eyes something about the eyes right, jax has blue eyes what if and only if he fought the darkin that tried to corrupt him and won? May be the reason why he does not want to wield a real weapon is because he fear that there are some traces left of the darkin within him and using a real weapon will manifest the darkin?

Exacly he's the champ, so he probly defeated a Darkin but abandon'd the Weapon and stuck with a lamp.
Though the lore just says he was too strong with a weapon, but that lore is about THE FIELDS OF JUSTICE. So...
Rhaast also said he's immortal so if Jax did beat a Darkin nd got empowered the darkin is now just hiding till it gains bloodlust from its trait till it takes form.

as for the lore hounds : wiki clearly states : **darkin are sentient WEAPONS**
they probly are and can take form, but some were trapped in their weapon form and need a host till they take over like how Rhaast does ingame. Seems like Varus' is weakened and can't consume him yet so just feeds off his lust for vengeance like symbiosis. only assuming the bow's bloodlust is for vengeance or w/e.

5 Darkin, 5 horsemen of the apocalypse (Death, War, Famine, Pestilence and Conquest) Varus is Conquest due to his bow which conquest is always seen with, Death is Rhaast and War Aatrox as mentioned by Rhaast. So two more darkin on the way, most likely with some strange damage over time abilities.
Varus likely represents pestilence, due to his corruption being almost disease like.

I like that now we have 3 types of Darkin in game:
Aarox - the one that has fully taken over his hosts body
Kayne - Someone who recently got his weapon (Rhaast) and is fighting for dominance
Varus - Someone who seams to have dominated his weapon (Darkin) since we never heart it speak also Rhaast uses Varuses name insted a name that would fit a Darkin making it seam like the darkin has been dominated.
This is good theory - aatrox and varus being one that finished the transformation and kayn being on its way.

Notice how both Aatrox and Rhaast have "aa" in their name, Varus doesn't. As Aatrox is called "The Darkin Blade" and Rhaast "The Darkin Scythe" implying the Darkin are weapons . My theory is that the bow Varus wields is a Darkin, but that the Darkin itself is bound to that well by some magic so it can't escape go back in his normal state (being the bow), but that when Varus touched the well a part of the Darking returned to it's body, the bow and that the circle on the belt around his chest is where the eye of the weapon will pop up if it gets a chance to escape from the well and return into the bow again.
I have this idea that darkin actually also represent different parts of the body
Rhaast - eyes
Aatrox - blood
Varus - The physical body (due to the corruption on his legs and wrists looking like its actually making a new body)

It could be pestelance, as his ablities are very "infectious". And it could also be explained why Varus says, im on borrowed time. Meaning that Varus is aware that he is slowly being consumed by the darkin weapon and that soon he will die/give in to it.

Pestilence rather. They seem to follow the horsemen, war, death, pestilence, famine. The next Darkin might have a draining playstyle, stripping your target of its power and infusing yourself with it.

No one says Riot will actually make 5 Darkin. Sure would be cool for us, but a) from their point they could very well leave 3 remaining darkins as lore only figured and b) designing 5 champs 5 times the same theme is for riot... 🤕

Spyros Gkanas i don't think anything is really canon right now, except from the newest lore. And if it would be canon, in which way? Wouldn't that mean without the skin he isn't really tryndamere? I think if he got corrupted by a darkin(revenge or wraith) he would look like demonblade
If you think about it, Irelias blades are also alive.
My theory is that the Darkin are actually the weapons who are trying to take over a hosts body (which explains Aatrox' title "Darkin blade"). If you look at Varus' lower body half it is as if the darkin(weapon) is still trying to get him. Same goes for kayn

i now that is in his lore and stuff but i play him and really like the sutain tank feel of him, but if they rework him to fit with his lore he would pretty much be a support and i really dont want that to happen
yup, he will be op as all hell lol, just let him have his current abilities plus like 25% dmg bonus to everyone on his team who are near him lol - it will fit the lore

Aatrox has a great lore and character desigb however his gameplay is not unique anymore. So I hope his rework will make him more badass to be able to handle tough champs in order to reflect on his lore
Its not a rework, its just a gameplay update. They are keeping his lore, maybe changing a little couple things, but they are changing pretty much every one of his abilities to better fit his character, lore, and personality.
Nebojsa Jeremic Aatrox is a pretty newish champ and his visuals won't be updated. his lore seems to already be coinciding with rhaast so the only changes will be Aatrox's game play and varus' lore probably
Aatrox will get a full rework soon, its been confirmed, no idea when though.
I doubt his lore will get updated just yet since it's fine as it is, darkin are still mysterious and we'll have to end up waiting for maybe one more before they start revealing their pasts and intentiions.

It is so obvious: Jax was so strong because he could manage over all the 5 Darkins (since he's the master of weapons), once they prohibited him to use the weapons, he hide them through the world but, the weapons thirsty of power, found other fighters.

so there are still the darkin of conquest and famine

Boiled Dawg Dude, at first that seemed really stupid, then i realized that that would have explained Rhaast's confusion about the numbers. If 3 Darkin were in the same body, there would be three, but also five darkin, depending on how you count it. It's pretty much for sure they wouldn't go for that, but it would explain stuff. Good job.

Well the Darkin were imprisoned in these weapons so something must have happened and also there must have been few, they really have to reveal more when Aatrox's rework comes around this year.

As someone whos favorite champion has been aatrox for 3 seasons now all this darkin related lore makes me very very happy!
5:50 now, with the new Varus-story that makes absolutely clear that Varus is the bow (ua-cam.com/video/KnI4es0Bv8I/v-deo.html if you have not seen it yet) the "five" Rhaast mentions could theoretically alos be: Kayn, Rhaast(the weapon), Kai, Valmar and Varus(the weapon)... theoretically.However that would mean that at first he thinks Varus does currently exist without host and that would be pretey much bullshit.
Now who are the other Darkins?I remember a demon of some sort killing Vaynes parents, but that is the only slight guess I can bring in.

i do think that the darkin are initially the weapons, that take over a body as a host.
with kayn, we have the choice to enbrace or renounce the darkin
aatrox is a host completely taken over by the sword and varus did not give in to the corruption of the darkin bow since he is that determined to get his revenge
FenrisRM Or maybe the Darkin that consumed Varus no longer exists, but its essenced remained in the well, hence why varus got corrupted. Maybe this is the reason why Varus' bow doesn't talk like Rhaast does, and also that maybe this is the reason why Rhaast calls Varus in his own name rather than the Darkin that consumed him. Maybe Rhaast knows that the Darkin that consumed Varus was no longer there, but he can still sense the Darkin essence
FenrisRM well technically the Darkins are the weapons, but I do think Darkins are creatures that are trapped inside the weapons. This has been stated on one of Kayn's Recall voice lines, Rhaast saying that why does Kayn flee, and Kayn replies mockingly maybe Rhaast got trapped inside the weapon because of Rhaast's atttitude.

what do rhaast and aatrox have together? both have a double "A" in their names. And the fact that varus doesn't have a double "A" is that he wasn't originally a darkin, but got connected to one. If i am right that would mean that every darkin has a double "A" in his name. this results in the fact that varus aatrox and rhaast are the only darkins known.
Varus is not a darkin, if anything, its the bow.
It has also been confirmed by a rioter, that a darkin doesnt need to have two a's in their name.

I personally think that Rhaast was sealed in there since there is a line that goes something like this (not the exact words):

Rhaast says that Kayn should stay and fight blah blah blah
Then Kayn asks in a mocking way if that mentality was the reason Rhaast got "emprisoned" in the weapon

How about this ides.Look at tryndamere when he ults,he has glowing red eyes and it is known that he was corrupted by aatrox.Now look at Jax,he has bright glowing blue eyes.Aatrox has red eyes and Kayn has blue ones,what if jax is in the same spot as Kayn only that he managed to overpower the darkin in his lantern at all times.What if those darkin shadows in his splash were the shadows of a failed darkin,or Aatrox trying to save his failed brother.Maybe it is a little bit crazy but it would be awesome to be true.
jax's lantern is just that. A lantern. His entire point is that he is the "super wow can use a weapon he's barely used and the still whoop yo ass guy". So he uses an ordinary lamp post as a "crutch" to himself to make it fair.
Jax has blue eyes due to being from the Icathia cataclysm and being infected by the Void. Same thing as Malzahar (And I would say Kassadin, but his eyes are yellow somehow?)

what if jax is same as kayn
kayn has 2 forms: shadow assasin and darkin form. what if jax's weapon was also a darkin? as u can see, his eyes are blue maybe he destroyed the darkin inside his weapon which is the same thing from kayn when he choose the shadow assasin form where he destroyed rhaast. the darkins in jax's splash art must be hunting him because of killing their kind

Hey necrit, I know that you are very busy but can you do a video on death`s dance because if you look closely, it has an eye on it like the weapon Kayn uses.
So my point is that if the Darkins are the weapons, Death's Dance is the 4th Darkin. (If you count varus)
Considering the recent lore update, I think that Rhaast's "3 of us....uhm 5 of us?" line to Varus might be referring to the two of them + Kayn (3) + Kai and Val (5), rather than the other remaining Darkin. The tone of it makes much more sense to me that way.
"two of us... uh, five of us" in kayne's dialogue to varus... sounds like a reference to kai and valmar inside varus?
This info might be super lame, BUT Rhaast, Vaarus and Aatrox are all left handed (or atleast holding their darkin thingies on the left side)

Varus is 3 people (2 lovers and the darkin the 2 won against the darkin) Kayn is 2 kayn and rhaas total of 5 but rhaas mixes it up by thinking varus is 1
some say there are 5 horseman of the apocalypse. you got war, death, famine, and pestilence, the "originals" , but you can also add conquest to the list insted of pestilence.
It makes sense that Varus is being corrupted by a Darkin because similar to how Aatrox is called the Darkin Blade Varus' title is the Arrow of Retribution. Which would imply that he is a weapon similar to how the Darkin might be weapons.

The darkins are the weapons, it is clearly told to us throught the voice lines : they are entities of an unknown original form (maybe the form they take when they possess their wielders) that can be and i think all got scield in certain physical objects (just like Rhaast)
Something interesting is that there technically ARE 5 horsemen. They use to be war, death, famine, and conquest. Pestilence replaced conquest due to different translations of the Greek word Thanatos.
It be interesting if they actually use the four horsemen and the forgotten horsemen as inspiration for the darken

When it comes to Varus then it is possible that the bow that he is using now was sealed in the well. It really depends on the warding since if it says something like - the corrupted well was sealed - then we can take it as the well being filled with the bows power.

Rhaast is Death, Aatrox is War. They are both powerful but it depends on peoples i guess.

I always thought the color purple was reserved for the Void. It makes me thing Syndra might be tapping into void magic, but void magic seems to revolve around portals and not creating matter.

It was confirmed several times by the Rioters in the Story and Art boards
My theory is that Varus actually overcomed a Darkin in the bow, gaining its power. Thats why Rhaast recognizes him as one of the Darkins. It will be possibly revealed in the lore update. Another thing is that maybe the well contained an essence of Darkin, released from a weapon (perhaps a bow, since it's the form of a weapon Varus uses?) and sealed in it?
That's just how I think
I read a thing where the four horsemen were embodiments of corruption that "rode" on humans and other sentient lifeforms as their host. I think this might be similar to that. In addition, I think that the Weapon is the core of their being, and the corrupted Rhaast hasn't had enough time in that form to truly make the body his - after all, Aatrox doesn't give any hint that he's changed his body in the past forever, so comparing how Aatrox and Rhaast are with their bodies is like comparing a bladesmaster with a squire.
This new character is so edgy that unless they use Crawling or Bring Me To Life as his (their?) login music I'd be disappointed.

Three are Aatrox, rhaast and varus the blade. When Kayne corrects himself and says 5 he means he has included the two human hosts combined with the bow.
You know after looking at game play of the show assassin form I noticed that as the game goes on the icon changes and starts to resemble the Darkin form. It is possible that Kayne has not truly dominated the weapon or maybe it shows us that he is turning in a Darkin. This would mean that the Darkin are humans that have been transformed by the weapons.

I think Varus is corrupted by an essence of a Darkin. But with the amulet/ necklace thing its help resisting the darkins corruption powers. Sorta like Yorick and is vile is stopping the black mist from fully consuming him. Since the essence of darkin isnt that strong ( compared to the mist) he can control the bow, unlike yorick who can summon but cant control the mist. In regaurds of The demon pants quote, Rhaast says to varus is more of an insult towards the Darkin essence since he can't fully corrupt Varus.
Would make sense if Varus ends up related to the Darkin, since they relate (until now) to the riders of apocalypse. The rider of death carries a scythe, the one of war carries a sword and pestilence a bow. On other sources, pestilence was originally called Conquest, and its rider used a bow and had a crown. Of course, riot may do a complete different thing, because famine should carry a balance, and a champion with a balance would be really bizarre, even for LoL.
It would be cool if there was like a mini even where both Aatrox and Raast presence make it so that the dormant Darkin in Varus' bow reawakens
Maybe Varus took complete control and the darkins special characteristic which might be revenge fused with Varus's actual thirst for revenge

alex roeggla my guess would be the human varus won the battle but is now forsaken due to his power coming from a corrupted source.
@Necrit One of the lines when Kayn transforms into the Darkin is "Destruction, Wrath, Fury as it was meant to be . Could it be that : Aatrox is Fury, given to Tryndamere , Destruction is Rhaast since he is the Darkin of death. Varus would be wrath because he wants the noxians who destroyed his village to feel his wrath .. ? Varus' passive is Living vengeance, could mean his bow is alive. As for the Demon pants quote, I think it said somewhere that Varus was fighting the corruption within and it would eventually consume him. Could be because varus wants to kill the Noxians and in doing so losing himself.
There are 5 Darkin because Pestilence isn't an actual horseman, Conquest was, but people thought it was too similar to war so they made it pestilence. Side note, Death had a scythe, Conquest/Pestilence had a bow, and War had a sword. the connections are really neat
aatrox is his blade, because of his W and also his dance when he dance the sword is dancing , but he just control the humain completly so he don't need to quit his body.
after the varus lore update when Rhaast says the 5 of us it probably means Kayn, and Rhaast and then Valmar, Kai and (Varus?) otherwise known as the Beast which is the Darkin that holds them all together so that's 5 they were talking about not the 5 Dark kin

the rider-theme actually fits. They are five, but the riders are heralds for their leader, the Antichrist. sooo if one of the five darkins is their boss it would fit

rhast- newest known darkin
varus - corrupted by aatrox blood well which is aatrox passive
tryndamere - demonblade tryndamere where the animation of his blade is breathing and the blade ia attached to him
jax - he was once corrupted by a darkin weapon but manage to fight it and never uses it again..
that's why jax sometimes said "imagine if i had a real weapon"
I've been theorizing since I saw Rhaast that the Darkin act as Soul Edge from Soul Calibur, possessing whoever comes into contact with it. whoever holds Soul Edge is called "Nightmare" regardless of who it actually is, and I assume the same goes for the Darkin. So when Kayn gets consumed by Rhaast, he is then just Rhaast. As for the comment about how they're like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but there are 5 Darkin, In the bible it says that the Four Horsemen are followed by the Antichrist, so the 5th Darkin could pretty much be the Devil himself.
my theory on varus is that he bent his darkin to his will, similar to how kayn does in game, excpet varus is already past that point, it makes him a nice counter to what happened with aatrox where weapon consumed host, varus could be host who consumed Darkin, while kayn is before that stage(because in lore he's not shadow assassin form or Darkin for yet, we just know from his gameplay in the future he could become one of the 2 forms. Bit of headcanon here but to me it sounds like the voice filter they put on kayn(shadow assassin form) is similar to the voice filter on Varus, it's a rather specific coincidence.
Maybe Varus' bow was a Darkin (yes I believe in the "Darkins are actually the weapons and not the figures"-theory) originally, but then they (Varus and the Darkin) got corrupted by the void or some other kind of dark magic (although it really seems pretty void-ish) which made the bow-Darkin silent.
