Huge shout out to the cinematic team this year. They really spoiled us with these cinematics. I'm so glad the technology is finally allowing for more of these productions.
amazing cinematic, TERRIBLE story writing :(
Yeah the in-game story ruined everything, the scenery in those is really great and they could be really emotionally impactful if they had some sort of build up to them.
@@HappyroosterYT I think it's a bit of both. Plus, I think the real problem is they have too many writers so the story get's written more by committee than by one skilled writer.
@@HappyroosterYT I agree. Just saying awful storytelling is quite useless when you don't point it out. I wouldn't say awful more...predictable. I don't like being able to call twists like Sylvanas's sudden but inevitable betrayal of the Horde.
And while she's always been evil, they've gone overboard on making her evil, I guess for the sole purpose of squeezing out any and all player sympathy for her while just designating Saurfang the good guy because "muh honor".
And there were interesting aspects of both that could have been used. Sylvana's battlefield pragmatism vs Saurfang's sensibilities. this was touched on exactly once and it was never determined what Saurfang's alternative to use of the blight was outside of "Fight Really REALLY hard!"
I just pray that they do not sacrifice N'zoth upon the alter of patch 8.3 boss. We already killed one Old God this expac, we need to let N'zoth marinade until 9.3 at least.
Its an insult to us animators to say that that the quality of a render is anything to do with the technology. its down to each and every create that took part in creating
Saurfang looks so tired because he had to carry an entire expansion on his shoulders 😂

Several of the cinematics had callbacks to old scenes. The one for Lordaeron throneroom was a callback to Arthas' betrayal. To a degree very nice, but to a degree they clung to it a bit to much.

The story of Varok is one of the saddest in the history of Warcraft. He started out wanting to die, but the trouble was he lacked something worth dying for. And, in the end, he found it. He challenged Sylvanas not because he thought he could beat her, but because he wanted to remind the Horde what it was capable of.

@Danny O'Donell imagine it, the last cinematic for this part of WoW.
Andurin stands along side Thrall, the combined forces of the Alliance and the Horde fighting together for the last time. A final charge against Sylvanas and her forces. "For Azeroth!" They cry in unison, and fly forward to their fates.
@@cerickson017@@cerickson017@@cerickson017 My knowledge of Warcraft lore is just limited to Warcraft 3. Do you mind telling me what happens to Sylvanas? I'm pretty sure she's one of the "good guys" in Warcraft 3.
@@jogmesson She is resurrected by the lich king (arthas), and turned into a banshee.
@@NotStirred9 yes i know that, what i mean is how did she becomes the villain this time?
@Jog Messon Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but the thing is that she has in mind something greater than just the Horde and the Alliance, she is moved by her own interests related to something that only she knows and wants to prevent, or something else. At least that's what it comes to my mind when she says "You're all nothing", refering that the two sides in the war are trivialities to her. Maybe she is like Illidan, and think that her plans will allow everyone to survive a future war.

Blur. Blur studios make these cinematics. When will you idiots understand this? Been saying this for almost 20 years now.
Mighty Baloo Well that’s just not true. Blizzard uses their in house cinematic team to make these videos. Blur has done some amazing work such as all the Halo remastered cutscenes and the Star Wars: The Old Republic trailers, but they have nothing to do with these cinematics or Blizzard.
@@vincentfdrums nope Blur makes all the cinematics for Blizzard since time immemorial

When Varok said "only pain"
I felt that.
These cinematics are in my opinion the most powerfull thing to keep us engaged with the World of Warcraft story. The reason why these are my favorites is because they reminded us that neither Horde or Alliance are 'the bad guys'. Our factions were simply fighting for their own ideals and principles.
We all thought this was her story, her descent into madness. And ours into the neverending cycle of hatred, of war. Yet we were wrong.
This was his story. He meant to inspire us to be better, to push through pain. He taught us to see beyond the mask of our enemy and how it was truly a mirror. A broken mirror, of pain, anguish, suffering, where everytime we beat on it, we beat on ourselves.
Aka'Magosh Varok Saurfang. Your suffering is finally over.
but for some reason i think Slyvanas meant to do all that to unite them as one against common enemy to prepare for greater threats.
Nah bro. Saurfang is a traitor.
Long live the Banshee Queen.
@@BleachRush Raise everyone as undead to fight a common enemy? Why did we even assault Icecrown? We should've just let Arthas do this job 10 years ago. Sylvanas's plan is no plan, it's just madness.
@@1Podri We don't know her true plan yet. She has some kind of bargain with Azshara regarding N'Zoth and that cursed dagger shell of Xal'atath, Blade of the Black Empire...
But yes, it'll end badly for us all.
shut up weeb
Can't they just make series like this for HBO or something. People would go insane. Would blow GOT and Vikings and the rest of it out of the water.
Pretty sure the production costs would be too high, at least with this level of production. Would certainly be interesting to see what they could do with an appropriate budget and team though.
Yeah the reason they don't make a full length movie out of these is that it costs way too much. Just for a regular anime episode it costs $100-200K, imagine this
@@joeblow3145 Even if the costs would be stupid for production, you have to think "would they make the money back?" and man, with this kind of quality, voice acting, back story, immersion and characters, everyone and their mom would want to see this.
I'm sorry but Sylvanas turned evil even faster than Dany, the writing isn't exactly great.
It's just the personal involvement you feel because you play the game and feel part of the world. You'd lose that with a TV series.
@@Ambroos You say that and assume that Sylvanas is the evil. Good writing would make you believe that.
Why can't we just have full length movies like this ?!
The manufacturing cost would be staggering. Probably not worth it on paper yet, considering that the manufacturing cost of Avengers endgame was at 350 million dollars, and had a revenue at 2,79 Billion. A move made by using CGI with this level of quality is just not worth it, it would cost a fortune and it is not certain that it would sell enough to make up for it. I would absolutely love to see this happen though, since I'm a huge Warcraft fan and the animation in these cinematic trailers are top tier. It does not simply get any better than this.
Also, we have the China virus to deal with now, the theatrical industry has taken a massive hit. Which make this even less likely in my opinion. Big name movies in general are waiting to release because of this, since it is the main revenue stream for the producers of the movies.
They are working on warcraft 2 and 3 movies the series will take forever
im speechless right now. i want more and more. this is how it should look like. i want the movie like this! amazing.

Pretty sure the entire world agrees this is how the “Warcraft” movie should have been. Would have been much more successful and we would have enjoyed many sequels.
@SMBComix Film was full of bullshit. Blizzard ruins its own stories.
I disagree. The movie was an intro for new people and admittedly they tried too much for the time it ran. People like us have experienced the lore over years hence why these CGI shorts make sense. The game fills out the rest as we play.
