The story of Varok is one of the saddest in the history of Warcraft. He started out wanting to die, but the trouble was he lacked something worth dying for. And, in the end, he found it. He challenged Sylvanas not because he thought he could beat her, but because he wanted to remind the Horde what it was capable of.
There are plenty of "X expansion - the movie" videos on UA-cam that pair all the cinematics together, but it's really cool to see the official channel do one as well. That way we are 100% certain of everything, from the order they appear to the intent.

Blizzard’s CGI capabilities far surpass any motion picture industry’s standards. I still, to this day, have not seen anything with CGI better than this.
Although it may not seem like it, Saurfang won the duel, yes, he died, but he managed to save the horde, probably one of the best characters in the entire history of Warcraft
Pretty sure the entire world agrees this is how the “Warcraft” movie should have been. Would have been much more successful and we would have enjoyed many sequels.
I disagree. The movie was an intro for new people and admittedly they tried too much for the time it ran. People like us have experienced the lore over years hence why these CGI shorts make sense. The game fills out the rest as we play.

Man, when Anduin tells Saurfang he thought he had honor, geez.. they did a great job with the cgi and the subtleties in the voice acting really showed that struck a chord with Saurfang.
Justin Priest No. It was an Orc and Horde tradition. It would have been seen as dishonorable for someone to intervene in the Mak’Gora. And honestly, Saurfang had earned his warrior’s death.
@@masteroftheassassins actually slyvanas cheated though, so I think resurrecting him would be fair game. No magic is allowed in the fight. Like how when Durotan faced Guldan and he used warlock magic against him. And again when Thrall used magic against Garrosh in WoD.
I think Anduin understands how Saurfang wouldn't want to be rezzed. His family and his son were already gone. He lost a single combat he likely never expected to win but in doing so he won back the Horde from Sylvanas. If he were rezzed that pinnacle moment of warrior honor is diminished.
Old warriors did not get old by accident, they got old by being wise, having the right knowledge, and being tough. Never underestimate an old man who has grown up in a rough profession or a rough environment :)

I followed you as you lead our forces to the wind swept tundra of Northrend, once again leading us to defeat an evil that stood against both our world's factions... I watched you weep over your son, giving us the strength and resolve to fight the monster who stole him from you... I followed you as we besieged our own city to usurp a mad Warchief who had been lost to his own darkness... I followed you as we fought back the very evil that destroyed our home world, hoping our new one would not meet the same terrible fate... When you witnessed the destruction of the world tree by the Banshee at the beginning of this war, it stirred something in you as you watched innocents die... It brought you back to Hyjal, when you watched the Legion, the very evil that corrupted our people and home world of Draenor, attempt to do the same... They said we would regret following you... They said, we would die in that swamp... They said if not Sylvanas, the Humans would come for us, not tolerating our kind so close to their borders... They said we could not trust the boy King, and his council, to support our revolution... They were wrong... When I stood there in front of the gates of our beloved city, it was a sight I had seen many times before, but only one other time with an enemy force starring us down from our own walls... But you were right there by our side once more... We watched you step forward from our ranks, as honorable as ever, to attempt to save the lives of the many, at the cost of just one... We had seen you fight such evil before, but I think we all knew deep down, that your last act, would be to die the honorable death that had so eluded you, to become a martyr for something bigger than yourself, something, you had almost lost faith in... Honor. When you fell, and the Banshee left, those same people who stood against us, looked down from the walls, and saw the meaning of our revolution... They understood our cause... They laid down their arms, and you were welcomed back into your city, not as a conqueror, but as a leader... as a Warchief. On the shoulders of your old friend, and some new, you were brought to lay in the city you had called home, many, even those who did not originally support you, came to honor you... You brought our people closer than ever, to peace with those who originally sought to push us back through that portal... You showed us that Orgrimmar and Stormwind may be our cities, but Azeroth is our home... When young champions come of age to fight whatever evils may plague our home in the future, I will tell them of the stories of the honorable Horde... I will tell them of you... It's kinda amazing how Saurfang went from generic NPC who you turned dragon heads into and kinda got memed by the playerbase cause of how strong he was into an important role in the AQ patch in vanilla and made to be the brother of Broxigar, to having a son in TBC, and then a major character from Wrath onward to the point where he was basically the main character of an expansion essentially about his final days.

You showed us that Orgrimmar and Stormwind may be our cities, but Azeroth is our home...
When young champions come of age to fight whatever evils may plague our home in the future, I will tell them of the stories of the honorable Horde... I will tell them of you...
Though I felt it then, I now know, that "they" were wrong, and we were right... to call you...

Took me this long to realize Saurfang just asked Sylvanes to come duel him in durotar 1vs1
Welp, that's enough internet for today

*Varok, the last Saurfang*
Nope. He has a niece. Thura is now the last saurfang.
And his half brother but idk if he is a suarfang

You should do this for every expansions from now on tbh. Your cinematics are the most powerful and successful part of you. I don't even play the game properly, love the lore and love these cinematics even more.
same here. I don't play the game anymore I just love it when I see that there is a new cinematic. The game has gotten bad but the cinematic are unique, I get goosebumps every single time !
As an Alliance player, I just want to say, Azeroth has lost one of its greatest champions. Saurfang died a hero.
Go now old soldier, rest and be at peace with your son and your brother.
Alexzander1989 Amen. As a horde player, I mourn the loss of varian. Although his son is doing a great job, he was a great man. Even in ICC.

lol
RP much?
Cut down 10 enemies, with a single blow? Oh boy, you were still in cradle when we stormed Orgrimmar through front gates, during Wotlk.. That guy, he cut raids with a single blow my friend.
The absolute chad of the horde.
Blizz, another movie please? thx.
Pls make it "animated" like these trailers and it's GG!
And please make it either animated or entire CG dont mix live action with CG anymore pls...
Laptique oh yea totally, animated is where they excelled
like jeez this is already a third of a movie.
@Thor I'd bet they're going to do it. All these cinematics are dialouge driven slow burners past cinematics which gives me the impression they're practicing for something longer in the future. The WOD cinematic is really the only other thing that's similar.
Imagine a full movie made like this... I'm pretty sure it's what most people are looking forward to! Thank you Blizz for these amazing cinematics!
Full CGI story (THIS CGI, MADE BY BLIZZARD THEMSELVES) About Arthas! Actually or about the well of eternity... I'd love a movie version of the first legion invasion.
😊
I agree!!!!!!! So epic. In the warcraft movie they didnt really need to film the actors, CGI would have been totally cool. Maybe it's too expensive....
The Horde will endure. The Horde is strong. - Varok Saurfang
WoW has the absolute BEST cinematic trailers. I get goosebumps everytime.
@Ateng Eryyanto haha agree to disagree my friend. 😂
“You cannot kill hope. You tried at Teldrassil. You failed. Hope remains. You set us to kill eachother at Lordaeron. HERE WE STAND!!”
Such great dialogue!!
Username so is this comment
In russian this dialogue sounds much stronger)
@Username Get a life.
Username someone obviously doesn’t know how good writing or dialogue works.
Sometimes you have to make it generic to transport the emotion and message in the best way possible. The most important thing is that it fits the character, and it absolutely does. Every dialogue of saurfang is written in the same style, that is the main point
The whole that cliches can't exist and everything has to be unique is dumb. Think about it almost any story you think of has been retold slightly different countless times
I have waves of chills pulsing through me when watching this... an absolute masterpiece of emotion and build. Stunning... for the love of all things good in the world just make a movie with this kind of love and support. Blizzard.. please.
It still gets me to this day when Anduin said "When this war began, I thought we were fighting for PEACE...But were just...(and the slight pause)..fighting". The Horde and The Alliance. That was deep.
It's not that deep dude.
idk how they write stuff like this and let the voice actor deliver it in the most soy way possible
"Never thought I would die side by side with an orc."
"How about dying side by side with a brother?"
"Aye. I could do that."
@Danny O'Donell imagine it, the last cinematic for this part of WoW.
Andurin stands along side Thrall, the combined forces of the Alliance and the Horde fighting together for the last time. A final charge against Sylvanas and her forces. "For Azeroth!" They cry in unison, and fly forward to their fates.
@@cerickson017@@cerickson017@@cerickson017 My knowledge of Warcraft lore is just limited to Warcraft 3. Do you mind telling me what happens to Sylvanas? I'm pretty sure she's one of the "good guys" in Warcraft 3.
@@jogmesson She is resurrected by the lich king (arthas), and turned into a banshee.
@@NotStirred9 yes i know that, what i mean is how did she becomes the villain this time?
@Jog Messon Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but the thing is that she has in mind something greater than just the Horde and the Alliance, she is moved by her own interests related to something that only she knows and wants to prevent, or something else. At least that's what it comes to my mind when she says "You're all nothing", refering that the two sides in the war are trivialities to her. Maybe she is like Illidan, and think that her plans will allow everyone to survive a future war.

Another Warcraft movie ??????? Blizz please make it happen.
Love all the cinematic by the way.
These cinematics are in my opinion the most powerfull thing to keep us engaged with the World of Warcraft story. The reason why these are my favorites is because they reminded us that neither Horde or Alliance are 'the bad guys'. Our factions were simply fighting for their own ideals and principles.
sylvanas: "for the horde!"
also sylvanas: "the horde is nothing!"
the horde: am i a joke to you?
r.i.p. saurfang
sylvannas: yes
Everything living is a joke to Death, wouldn’t you say?
Blizzards bad writing strikes again lol just wait for that third faction boiii
The undead horde dude: "Wait what what you said several battles ago?"
lmfao
RIP Saurfang. Like his Brother cleaved Sargeras, he cleaved a villain before he left us as well.
Say what you will about Anduin but he’s easily the most kind hearted , benevolent leader the alliance has ever seen.
His dad may have lost his way, but he didn't. He loves his home ever-so dearly.
I think be must a spiritual succesor to Arthas.

True, and definitely my favorite character.
That moment when he's looking up and almost weeps from staring into the beauty of the Light, was a great touch to add to the scene.

This is fantastic What a way to honor Varok Saurfang’s legacy!! Also this is something everyone has been asking for, a cinematic short film made by Blizz themselves, granted we already saw these and its a combination of all the shorts. First step towards a movie in the future I suppose?!

Cinematics like this for the remastered cgi cutscenes? Or every cutscene. Either way its gonna take a lot of money
