In the film the enemy organization is called SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion). Chief strategist of SPECTRE is a man called Kronsteen, or "Number 5". The film right away testifies to Kronsteen's remarkable intelligence and strategic skills by showing how he takes part in a chess tournament. After all, Kronsteen is not only a dangerous spy but also a chess grandmaster. We see how he beats Canadian grandmaster McAdams with a fine combination.

Thanks for showing us a Spassky game. He had the heart of a true champion both in victory and defeat. BTW, seems like you get as many comments on the dog as on the chess games. His participation in the videos was probably accidental, but he adds a touch of class to the presentation. Thanks for sharing this part of your life with us.

almost. but because they removed 2 important white pawns the final position in the movie is not won for white.

I don't know if it was featured in the movie Spectre. But it was surely featured in the movie From Russia with Love (James Bond) 1963. Interestingly the player with White pieces had a name Kronsteen imitating Bronstein. Btw awesome game.

Great channel and very interesting. I love the real world anecdotes, but on this occasion Spassky didn't go to Hollywood. The Bond movies are filmed based in the UK, at Pinewood Studios which are 20 miles west of London...

Great video and great game. By the way, the James Bond movie is called "From Russia With Love", at least in those countries whose first language is English. I believe it is shown in the opening scene of the movie or close to the beginning.

Looked like a strong attack from the beginning, I agree I thought he would play Nf6 instead of h6, keep the king safe and no need for weaknesses like this to maintain that f pawn.

Hi Agadmator, i like your storytelling way of chesscommentory, please go on doing this! But, i have one advice: you are much to quick re-playing the game. You do the move and at the same time you say the move: my suggestion is: 1. Use more resttime between the moves (0,5 second?) 2. Say the move...., and than do the move.... I hope that you do my suggestion, i will enjoy even more your chessminiatures! Good luck!

At move 17, I don't get why Bronstein plays Bf5 when white can simply capture it for free.. I understand he was trying to exchange queens, and maybe there weren't any better moves, but what about simply Qd5?
