    Huge difference fishing the flats (mosquito lagoon, fl area). My boat, scout 162sf, drafts 8" but I really couldn't take advantage of that without a jack plate. Boat manufacturers should off jack plates as an option.

      A ton of shallow water performance to be sure! Interesting idea on boat builders offering this product!

      I have a 145, when u trim as far up as you can go while going fast, I can here my motor and I have a super small rooster, does the jack plate cause u to suck air when u have it all the way up

    Have you ever seen or heard of a bracket that will bolt to this jack plate, in place of power pole brackets, to hold a 9.9 kicker motor?
    I know the jack plate will hold the weight because it handles my giant 250 pro access! What are your thoughts on hanging at 9.9 off the side of a TH marine 12 inch jack plate?

    Might want to make sure that the proper torque is used on all of the bolts using a torque wrench.

    I’m a little confused. I have a zx225 skeeter installed a 12” which is overkill will never use all that trim. Bobs says 6-8” is all I need ?

    do you run any sort of transom saver on that boat and motor?

  • @joehoretzki4354

    Just purchased a boat with a motor that's pushing the max for it. 15 ft skeeter, with a 115 HP Honda on the back. Took it out this morning, and realized how hard it would be to get it up and on plane in anything less than 4 ft of water. Ass end just squatted hard on take off.
    I'm looking into putting a jack plate on it to handle the shot, and keep it from nosing up so hard. Is my assumption correct? Looks like I'd need an Atlas, due to the weight of a Honda

    • @Bassmada
      @Bassmada 4 роки тому +1

      Yes your assumption is correct, you should also look at what prop you have, and can have. Changing out the prop can have a positive effect on hole shot as well. I had a 15'10 Ranger with a 110hp that had trouble getting on plane. Switching the prop for better hole shot vs. Top speed made a big difference.

    Can you discuss the results/improvements etc. you got using it. What about speed? Thanks.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  5 років тому

      Hey HOTFISH, top end speed improvements on this boat were negligible at about 1.5 mph faster. The biggest benefit for us has been the shallow water running. We fish rivers and a lot of lakes with real shallow accesses. The jack plate has improved safe running and just getting the boat in and out without dinging up the lower unit. Also nice to have if you run shallow water anchors of any brand, as they direct mount to the jack plate without having to drill holes in the transom.

    So I wont need to refill holes it should remount to my old motor mount holes. I'm a little confused on the setback ranges ... what exact does setback mean the distance to the boat ?

    • @stevejames3292
      @stevejames3292 5 років тому +1

      Yes. That is what setback means. A lot of large fast deep V boats which use multiple outboards mount them with Gill brackets which do the same thing, moving the outboards a foot or more back from the transom. Gill Brackets aren't adjustable up and down though. Being further back from the transom changes the thrust vector giving more mechanical advantage to changes in tilt and steering. Also if with a jack plate you can run the motor higher decreasing draft on plane because it's not sitting directly behind wash coming off the transom. The further back the motor is the more stern down the natural trim is though.

    please disconnect the battery before you attach to the flywheel. if this engine cranks and starts someone will get seriously injured.

    • @eliteangler
      @eliteangler 6 років тому

      I agree and to keep from accidentally moving the trim up and down while someones fingers are around the mounting bracket.

  • @NytronX
    @NytronX 4 роки тому +1

    Why so much setback? That looks like a 10" setback?

    • @Wired2Fish

      This is the most common setup for 20' bass boat rigging. It was recommended by the Jack Plate manufacturer and boat manufacturer in this case. Not sure the exact reason but think it has something to do with more leverage for hull lift and overall performance.
