T&H marine sucks, wanting to replace the whole motor, I had to replace the electric motor on mine a couple years ago, same thing, called you need a new motor, $900 for a new unit. No thanks had it rebuilt by a local starter/alternator repair shop. Went out again and purchased a replacement motor on eBay, $159. Now my top seal is leaking, just pulled the motor, will look for a local hydronic place first, or order the kit, thanks.

Awsome video i was about to spend 900 on The actuator!
How did you feel With hydraulic fluid once apart and how did you bleed it?

It is simple to do . Once you have pump assembly out , it has 2 bleeders on it . You fill the reservoir up then put the shaft and top back on , then flip it over on bench and actuate it a few times, and open bleeders just a lil to get air out .

Great video, very helpful. What kind of fluid did you use when putting it back together?

Appreciate the video. Im attempting to do mine I ordered the seal kit and have the wrench however, mine is so so tight that it won’t budge. Any tricks getting it off? Also, did you release the pressure screw on it first or just un-tighten.

I actually just loosened it right up . Took a few bumps with hammer to get it moving but came right off. Usually they aren’t too bad since they have oil on them all the time . Give it a few good taps . Righty tighty lefty loosy !!!!

Any tips to DIY this at home? Boat is still sitting in the water so I'm wondering what I can do to lock the jack plate up once it's on a trailer so I can take out the pump assembly. And if the seals were blown in the saltwater, is there a way to flush anything to make sure all the saltwater is out?

I would get it on trailer and use a floor jack to suspend the sliding plate up so you can remove the pump . I would pull all plugs out and give it a flush with fresh oil and some diesel fuel . Pull piston out and just make sure it has no corrosion inside . If it doesn’t, throw a kit in it and should fix your problem .

I’m doing the same repair currently, top seal blown and spraying fluid when I lower it. Wanna top it off when I’m done but don’t know where to fill from?

Shaft seal leaking by internally . , very common problem . Order seal kit and replace all .
