I stayed for a couple of months in Cebu and realized life is much better in Thailand. Cost of living is lower and I can walk down the street in Bangkok at 11pm without having to worry about anything. Sure, you stay vigilant and I agree with Daniel that we need to stay where there are others around you, but overall, I feel safe here 99.9% of the time. I think that was related to the Chinese pogo gaming operators. I was living in Makati when a couple girls were abducted a few days in a row right before COVID. Not at all tourists related. I never had one problem in Makati living there for years. Quezon city also.

A video like no other I've seen. You honestly told it like it is. I still want to visit The Philippines because the people are among the friendliest in The World
Been to Mindanao several times and it is the most beautiful part of the Philippines. Spent most time in Davao and also travelled right up North. Friendly people and amazing scenery. The enchanted river is spectacular
I just came back from the Philippines and is as nice as it could be somewhere is as dangerous as it could be somewhere. As I was driving to the airport in Manila the car I with in was stopped by three or four beggars, that's not horrible but if there's begging you know there's people looking to grab your wallets, etc. That being said when I go with a group of people is always two of us acting as bodyguards, which means we're not out drinking and partying we're acting as private security as some of us have experience in it. The Philippines is like every other place the jails are full and there's people willing to do horrible things. It can be very nice and it could be very horrible.
I studied abroad there. I transferred colleges from Cavite to Cagayan de Oro (from Mindanao) and all my classmates were scared for me 😂. Mindanao obviously has a bad streak of crime and a bad reputation but other provinces and cities there like Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon is quite safe and has about the same crime rate as that of some cities in Luzon. As for Marawi, Muslim classmates from Cagayan de Oro told me that it used to be relatively safe until foreign terrorist groups made a war there. It’s sad because she really wish people don’t think of Marawi as only a place of war and that’s it. So if anything the area in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro is okay. Even Davao was told by my relatives to be a bit more dangerous.. Other places that I know is safe in Mindanao is also the island of Camiguin
Hi thank you for the information. I’ve never been to the Philippines but am thinking of going this winter. I’ll make sure to stay in the safer areas. Too bad about those troublesome areas though. They sound like they’re really beautiful according to some of the comments here.
Hi Rubeauti. Thanks for the great information. I notice how fluent you have become. You have mastered the English language. Such a smooth and professional presentation. Keep going and keep growing champ😘
I visited Philippines as a kid back in 2006, 2007, and 2008, but only in Luzon and Visayas. I remember asking my mom if we should visit Mindanao and she said no. Now I know why.
I have been living for around 8 years in the Philippines, 2 years in Cebu and the rest of the time in Mindanao. I have a house in Davao occidental. They say that the mountains surrounding my place are a terrorist highway. So I avoid trekking too high up in that area. I have visited North Cotabato on several occasions, Earthquakes being the greatest danger there, in my opinion. My next place to visit these days will be General Santos city, but of course I know the risks involved. It is very sad that many areas are a no go zone in this beautiful nation. But there are plenty of great and safe areas, so just come on over here to Mindanao guys and girls. Central and Eastern parts are very safe.
I was never a Target over there and I look like a Filipino but I'm half Indian and Irish and African. I'll talk to a lot of guys in Zamboanga del Norte. I traveled all around the Philippines on my big bike I had no problem anywhere. It's worse and more dangerous to be in America around your own police. I got stranded on my motorcycle and car guyan way in the province and they took me to sogo hotel for a thousand pesos. And put my big bike in the jeepney. I'm glad I kept all the pictures I feel safe everywhere in the Philippines. But I wouldn't advise some people of a certain color, I won't say to go everywhere out there because you will look like a Target.
I visited Davao and Butuan in July. Both were safe. There are armed checkpoints all over Mindanao, but many were not manned or they just waved you through. And security guards all over, like at malls. I felt pretty safe everwhere. But, there are areas to avoid. There are Marxist rebels in the jungle near Cabadbaran and sometimes they will bomb police vehicles and sometimes rebel areas get bombed by the government. Locals call it a war because it is carried out by the military, not the police. We were going to go to Tagnote Falls one day but some locals said it was dangerous. There was a split of opinion as to whether Tagnote Falls was dangerous or not, so I decided to be safe and go to a water park in Butuan City instead. Davao is supposed to be one of the safest cities in the Philippines. I was amazed there was not more crime because Mindanao is very poor. Many people are desperately poor, and the jobs pay nothing at all. Like a good job working in a store in a mall might pay $80-$100 per month. So you would think that the desperate poor would resort to crime. But the Philippines has a tight social system with close families and the church has a strong influence. So, crime is less than you would expect given the extreme poverty.
My advice is if you have a Filipina girlfriend and you trust her then let her be your guide and don't be a typical asshole tourist and do whatever you want cause you will find trouble that you don't want. I listen to my girl and she showed me some of the best and safest places in the Philippines. We traveled all over Manila and spent 2 weeks in Boracay and had the best time of our lives. She knew what parts of the Philippines to avoid and explained to me why we can't go to certain places. Listen to Rubeauti or your Filipina. They will not lie to you
Hey Rubeauti. This is Jerry. I do live in Memphis, sometimes the most dangerous city in America. I’m ready for the Philippines. Will avoid all areas you mentioned. Better safe than sorry. Missed most of your twitch this morning. I’m peronto123. Good to see you in your vlog.
Love that you're so honest with us Rubeauti. You don't hide the problems, you tell us how to avoid them and deal with them! Hope the new place is feeling really good, lots of love 😘❤
So, basically stay away from the Philippine Island of Davao. 90% of the hot spots are in this Southern Island. It looks like the Philippine government has lost almost total control of this island. That is sad to hear. Thank you for your information.
Thank you for this very good information! Sometimes I watch UA-cam blogs of some tourists who have visited these areas and they say: "I was there and nothing happened to me there. It's safe!" It is very naive and dangerous such information! Visitors can believe it and have problems!
Hi Rubeauti. Good video with good info. This is my 4th time here and I am staying this time. I have been here 4 months already and have always felt safe. Probably because I learned a lot the first 3 times I was here. I have been in several places including the greater Manila area and had no problem to go out after dark to the store or to eat. I have just finished 2 weeks in Davao and enjoyed it very much and will be back for another visit but not to live as it is too big and crowded for me. Keep smiling and stay safe
Most part of Mindanao is not a bad place to live. Most Filipinos that haven’t been to mindanao think that It’s scary to travel there. But Filipinos coming from Mindanao feels the same way if we travel to Manila. Those hostages or crimes mentioned in some major cities were mostly happened during the past but you can hear all types of crimes happening in Manila and surrounding areas almost everyday. Yes, for us it is way more peaceful to live in Mindanao than Manila. We can walk alone safely, less stress and we can wear our sparkling jewelry everywhere, which i never did when i lived in Manila. 😊
Mindanao is good compare to manila manila is a high crime rates compare to mindanao...mindanaonis safe than manila that only according to your research but according to my experience. Mindanao is good than luzon parts of philipines i travel to mindanoa many times i also travel to luzon visayas but mindanao is close to my heart i rather choose mindanao than the other cities in philipines

Well, u are right on point, honey child. How did 1 Pilipina get so smart and beautiful? Very good video!! As an American that has traveled to the PI many times, I can verify that there are indeed dangerous places there. But, I hesitate to visit New York City, Chicago, and many large urban areas in my own country. Common sense and paying attention to the area around u will serve u well wherever u are.
I am back from travels and had a great time in Luzon. I think if I ever went to Mindinao I would go no further than Cloud 9. Good video and all the best :)
There was also the kidnapping of two Canadians and a Norwegian, in 2015 from Samal Island. The two Canadians were beheaded when the ransoms were not paid by the deadline. A lot of great places to visit in the Philippines but definitely stay away from Mindanao. That whole southern island is very dangerous.
Hi I travelled to Zamboanga City in 2019 to meet friends and family and they looked after me really well and I felt safe for the 18 days i stayed there however it should not be under estimated and I appreciate your information, really need to be cautious. Thank you Rabeauti 👍 💕
I went from Dipolog city to Pagadian city with a toyota landcruiser. On the way made a stop at Aurora, some kind of small market place. Anyway, lots of army trucks with full of men roaming in the streets of Pagadian. But it was okay, I went walking outside like 1am and only met nice people there, group of 3 local women said they would invite me to come their home, but it's so late and dark, like 30 minutes with tricycle, that it's not good idea this time and I agree with them that not good right now. My bed in the hotel was so short that 10 inch of my feet were outside the bed, I am 6'1.
I"ve visited Palawan Puerto Prinsesa, El Nido, Coron, Cebu and Bantayan, all were truly amazing and beautiful, my late wife was always over protective of me everytime time I visited the Philippines, her brothers would chaperone me. I must say I never felt intimidated, uncomfortable or worried, all I have is beautiful memories of my time in the Philippines, I hope to return one day.
Great video! You're spot on with your research! The travel advisories from the US Embassy are pretty consistent with their warnings to stay away from the southern provinces/cities with the exception of Davao. Quezon being in such close proximity to Manila and Angeles, you need to use common sense when traveling there and treat it like you would if you were going to any big city. Talk to locals like Rubeauti to find out where you can, and should not go... Been to the Philippines twice now in the last 6 months, and I'll be back in February. I've had a great time! 🙂
@@Rubeauti Well, I'm not sure why they think that... I bet most of these people haven't traveled before and are reading comments from someone else that got themselves into a bad situation because of their own superiority complex attitude, and pissed locals off who would have otherwise helped them. Rule number one, don't go to another country and bad mouth it while treating the locals like shit because you came from a richer country. It's always advisable to research a culture that you are not familiar with before you travel to a foreign country, and learn how best to interact with them. Many westerners just don't do this, and presume people in other countries will just adapt to them. Many of them have also never been taught manners... That is why most westerners get negative reputations that they deserve for being arrogant, and disrespectful instead of polite and humble. We are your guests, but we need to show respect. That is something that is not just given, it's earned! 🙂 My experience with the Filipino culture in general, and especially in the hospitality sector, is that they are very polite, patient, and accommodating. You would be surprised how far just a little common courtesy goes in a stressful situation, and changes moods from defensive to very helpful and understanding... 🙂😉
Mindanao is a showcase of contradiction: you have various areas which are deemed unsafe yet Davao City is considered one of the safest cities in the Philippines. It's sad these conflicts exist, but I've read about the history of the Sultanate of Sulu (who introduced Islam to the region). For hundreds of years they ruled most of Mindanao, all of Palawan, the Sabah region of the island of Borneo, and the islands south of Zamboanga. A lot of what they controlled was taken from them following the colonization periods, and the Muslims are fighting to get their land back. Tawi-Tawi....the sea border area of the Philippines and Malaysia....also very dangerous.
Yet, people were abducted there (and murdered), But yes, then Mayor Duterte did a lot to rid the city of crime. The one time I was at the airport there, a bomb exploded just outside It is a pity though as the Sulu Archipelago is breathtakingly beautiful
Whilst i love your VLOGS, ANYWHERE IS SOUTH EAST ASIA is dangerous along now with everywhere in the world as poverty is becoming more prominent and will become a lot more prominent as this is the mantra going forward. Ive been in Mindanao for some 40 years on & off and whilst being a whiteman i am a "WALKING ATM" anywhere i go in Pinas. Know matter how much i want to be accepted as a local "IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN" because of the colour of my skin. Even though i have a Pinas passport & im dual citizen it will never make any difference. My kids are Tissay and are also a "WALKING ATM" but we all speak localised and 4 dialects, we dress down & are very non materialistic, we have to be other wise we will get hit hard. But at the end of the day, it is something you get used to and know what to look for & mix with our own breeds and we find comfort in that as our own breeds are all going through the same thing on a daily basis. When you resign to the fact, you will never be accepted and you are different from everybody else and always expect to be ripped off because of the colour of your skin, it makes life a lot easier. Mabuay Phillipines
Honestly the dangers in Mindanao is slightly overblown. My ex lived in butane and I stayed there just fine. My current gf lived in Gen San city and we went to vacation in davao. It was as normal as it could get there.
Like the mobster replied in the movie, "Casino" when asked if they should let a remotely possible snitch live, "Why take a chance?" Stay out of Mindanao.
Thank you as always for your informative content. Now that all restrictions are lifted I can finally plan my long awaited visit! The areas you highlight are far away from where I am hoping to travel too as my lady friend comes from the Mangatarem area and I remember you said you are from Tarlac. This being said I am interested to know about the surrounding areas also, such as coastal resorts, Lingayen and Dagupan for instance, are these places where other expats frequent in any number? Most bloggers and youtubers seem to congregate around the Cebu/Dumaguete area, is there a reason for this apart from it being a nice and friendly place? Have a good day Rubeauti 🤗
I was there for my first visit in 2017 and it was around the time when the terrorist group entered Marawi City, me being from a very small country I was a little worried to go there even if I was going to Clark/Angeles City and didn't know or could not really put my mind to how big the Philippines really is. I've mainly been to Luzon island and Palawan and even walking along in Angles city at night I felt safe.
I was robbed several times in Angeles City and almost killed by muggers. I traveled to all 3 of the major areas: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Do not go. You risk death.

Now the Philippines is relatively safe... but people do deserve to be warned of possible dangers!
I think that was related to the Chinese pogo gaming operators. I was living in Makati when a couple girls were abducted a few days in a row right before COVID. Not at all tourists related. I never had one problem in Makati living there for years. Quezon city also.
@@Rubeauti
Yes...possibly Copyright Protected stuff rather than Censorship.
Even Tourist businesses should be warning people that Philippines is 99% safe! 😂😂😂😇😇
@@rayfinkle9369
It was a while ago! Absolutely horrible to watch....
Kidnapping cases in places like Metro Manila, BGC, ect. are often towards Chinese Nationals due to Chinese gambling operations there
How much do cars/vans cost to hire there?
Thanks for a very informative and useful video Rubeauti. Lligan city and CDO were in my list for visiting next trip, plus another area you highlighted. Plenty of new places still to discover.
This is the BEST video I've seen on this subject. Thank you!
I'm glad you were finally able to get this useful information out .
I'm from South Africa, coming over there in April next year. This info is really important. Thank you so much 💓
I visited Davao and Butuan in July.
They will not lie to you
Getting led around by your girlfriend. How manly
Great advice and video Rubeauti, travelers should take notice 🦘
Love that you're so honest with us Rubeauti. You don't hide the problems, you tell us how to avoid them and deal with them! Hope the new place is feeling really good, lots of love 😘❤
So, basically stay away from the Philippine Island of Davao. 90% of the hot spots are in this Southern Island. It looks like the Philippine government has lost almost total control of this island. That is sad to hear. Thank you for your information.
Thank you for saying, "Rubeauti." I love it.
Defiantly a must watch video!!
You did a lot of research for this vlog. Very informative.
Been to Mindanao twice now from. USA 🇺🇸 and always feel very safe.
It depends on what part though dont it .

Thank you very much for these helpful tips! Looking forward to seeing the Philippines!
thank you this is a breath of fresh air from all the dozens of recent vloggers who come here with rainbows in their eyeballs and think that they just found paradise. and of course it's paradise if you a. foreigner with a pocket...full of money staying in a nice hotel.. you don't get to see the poor side of. philippines when you're sitting on a....and beach somewhere sipping a mai tai. but it just goes to show you that people are so willfully blind.. keep up the good work..
Thank you for telling foreigners about what arras to aviod. I have been blessed to visit the Phlippines many times and the people are so wonderful and kind. I am going back soon to get married to a pinay from Ormoc. We have dated each other for 8 years and she said yes she will marry me if I agree that she is my queen. To me, she is the "Queen of All Philippines" in my heart. I hope we can come visit you when I get there. I constantly talk to her about your channel. I wish you and your entire family good health and well being for all their lives. God bless you my friend.
Congratulations.. happy times ahead.

Great Information Rubeauti 👸🏻♥️your videos.
Great video Rubeauti, we appreciate you keeping us informed on the places not to go for our own safety.
Thankyou for your honesty on where to avoid.
This is not the first time I’ve been warned about the south of PH. Thank you.
If you notice women in head scarves or burqhas ; hear the call for prayer at 5 am , GET OUT
This is good to know since I’m planning my first visit in a few months. Ty so much.
The one time I was at the airport there, a bomb exploded just outside
It is a pity though as the Sulu Archipelago is breathtakingly beautiful
Great job girl. You and Filipina Pea are my favorite Filipinas on UA-cam. I know how hard you work to do your videos

Yeah Pinoy ako pero I find ur vlog very informative. I am now a subscriber of ur channel. Keep up the good job and more power!

For this familiar with American cities Quezon City should be no problem. I’ll go there again over Chicago every time.
Honestly the dangers in Mindanao is slightly overblown. My ex lived in butane and I stayed there just fine. My current gf lived in Gen San city and we went to vacation in davao. It was as normal as it could get there.
Yes, true. Perfectly safe ……until it is not.
Like the mobster replied in the movie, "Casino" when asked if they should let a remotely possible snitch live, "Why take a chance?"
Stay out of Mindanao.

Wow, thanks for the heads up.
It is still much more dangerous here in Australia. The youth crime has hit crisis point. I would not even let the kids out the front of the house with gates all closed unsupervised. I would say the most dangerous place in the Philippines would be Jolo, sulu & areas of Palawan including the Sulu sea. Just read the history of the area.
I come a lot I’m actually here now I walk around with a lot of jewelry and expensive clothes. I never have problems. But I also feed people that need it I also donate to the Philippines I have built things and fed entire street. When you come it don’t take much to help a person or be nice and respectful. It will and can get you far.
First of all, thank you for your advice. I think the Philippines are one of the most safes place in the world except certain places.
