I am from Finland and don't know how they measure happiness there. I find the country silent, depressing, and very difficult to talk to people. Your country on the other hand I found very welcoming, socially warm, inviting, and beautiful in so many ways I can't write them all down here.
You are welcomed because you are a foreigner and if I assume, you might be white, you have certain benefits which the locals with their inferiority complex will provide you, they will be nicer to you, more welcoming and etc. because of the colonial mentality still prevailing amongs the population.
Always look down when walking along the road or sidewalks in the Philippines. If you are not careful you can end up on the missing persons list from falling into a big hole 😄
I am an American Expat living here in the Philippines for over 3 years. I have an SRRV visa and my Filipina wife and I bought a property/house west of Tagaytay.. To me, the best thing about the Philippines is it's people. Most of the people I have as friends are Philipinos. Yes, the traffic here is horrible, that is why I no longer drive here. My wife drive me or we hire one of our friends to drive me. We chose to live here because we are higher in elevation and it is cooler here.. We don't have a problem with flooding and Typhoons are not as bad as in many other areas. We love it here. Tagaytay has a good Medical Center with good Doctors and it doesn't cost much to see one. We love it here.

As a foreigner, I appreciate the honesty in your video's. I am also married to a Filipina and you confirm many of the things I know. Even though much of the Philippine Government was fashioned after the US, there are still, to this day, a lot of laws and policies that make no sense. In many ways, the Philippines, as a country and people, are about 50 years behind the US and wrought with corruption .. but I love the people.
Thank you for your honesty. I love your videos. You give me so much to think about retirement in your country. By the way, I have occasional kidney stones and bladder issues. Drinking cranberry juice mixed with a little club soda or soda water helps me a lot. Stay healthy and I look forward to seeing you again.
Health care is good only in Manila ir Cebu. On any island or province don’t expect any but basic bandage. I know from experience. Also be prepared to pay upfront.
In regards to your comments about health insurance and treatment in the Philippines, another UA-camr named The Filipina Pea did an interview with an insurance agent in either Dumagetti or Cebu. He stated that the best health insurance that you can get in the Philippines is Pacific Cross and the annual cost is between $12K and $15K. He also listed some of the benefits and that it is accepted in most hospitals in the Philippines and worldwide. BTW I just recently found your channel and so am a new subscriber. Great job.
You're right I was going to retire there but decided not to after going there seven times and living there for a while I realized that it's better here in the United States than there economically and medically and now I see it is so expensive there for food and gas and I see a lot of people moving to other countries and leaving the Philippines because of this culture and money hungry women
Great video, very informative. After living in the PH for a couple of years, I would say the pros greatly outweigh the negatives. But it does require a lot patience. 🙂
First of all, congratulations on getting to over 10 thousand subscribers, your channel is growing pretty fast. Lots of good and honest advice as always with your shared experiences. I’ve only visited Manila three times and each time there was an issue with taxi drivers. One time I got out of the cab when he stopped at a red light. I left the door open until I got my case out of the boot. I have also had it in Cebu also, but only a couple of times out of many taxi rides. You do need to be aware of the scams, but that’s the same wherever you go. Healthcare was the main reason I’ve never moved there full time, but even in the UK now, the healthcare service is not like it was, and has long waiting lists.
I had a taxi scam attempt in Cebu back in 2019. This was my 1st ever visit to the Philippines. I stayed two weeks; I spent 1 week in Cebu and a week on Davao City. With the exception of that one instance the visit and taxi trips were great. Anyways, it began with me flagging down a taxi. After entering the cab, the driver ask did I mind if he turn off the meter? I replied I prefer he kept it on. He said where I was going would be cheaper if the meter was off. I told him I did not have a problem w/the metered rate. So he kept insisting on turning off the meter. I told him never mind and got out of the taxi. I flagged another taxi - an honest driver who took me where I wanted to go. Upon arrival I looked at the meter and paid him double what was on the meter. He immediate said I was paying too much money. I said, no it is the correct rate. I told him what happened with the previous taxi. As I was exiting his taxi I told him, because he was honest and did NOT try to scam me like the other taxi, I am paying him the his [the metered rate] fair and the fair of the other taxi because honesty does pay. Have a good day sir! He was stunned. Weeks before my trip I did some research and learned of this meter scam so when it started to go down I know what was happening. At that time this scam was largely perpetuated by the taxis in Manila. I see it has spread and become more common in Cebu now.
Beautiful Rubeauti! So sorry you had kidney stones.. Rubeauti listening to your negatives has reinforced my desire to live in a province area when I retire to the Philippines. Thankfully I am still in good health and have never smoked so I see smoking bans as a positive not a negative. I have ridden motorbikes all of my life so I believe owning a motorbike in the province will be ok and you said there are less corrupt traffic officers in the provinces 🙂. I have been looking at long term rentals and they are so cheap in the province that I would not need to buy property. In terms of longer visits before deciding to live there my plan is to do 3 month visits to different areas before deciding which one to settle in. Thank you so much for being honest about the downsides of living in PI but I still believe that the people and culture make it a very desirable retirement destination with a SRRV. God Bless.

Thank you for posting Rubeauti. I am going to visit Davao in 2024 for an extended period and this will help me ascertain if the Philippines is for me. My Filipina friends from work tell me that this would be the best city for me given my personality. I very much appreciate your work.
Miss Rubeati, Thank you for sharing your experience, an eye opener for many.. Q: have you considered moving to middle size city?? I was in Dumaguete and except for the traffic I loved it there..you are correct, no traffic lights, no stop signs, it is actually amazing more accidents don't happen...I was in Dumaguete last month, and as bad luck happens, I landed in the emergency room on my first day arriving to the Philippines...I stayed at the Rovira Hotel, which I give it 4 stars, was excellent, room service was great, and so was the food..I order food to my room or by the pool all day...anyway, since my medical emergency happened late after 10pm, there were no taxis in the area so the front desk called the ambulance for me...the ride to the hospital was free, though I tipped them for the ride...I don't recall the name of the hospital, CDC I think?? but was told it was a private hospital so there were only a few people waiting ahead of me..I was seen within 20 minutes of arrival and was not asked to pay in advance..the cost was about $120.00 US and was seen by a doctor not a nurse..after I was attended, still no taxis, was after midnight so the ambulance gave me a ride to the hotel..ha,ha,ha.. In Dumaguete there isn't much trash, city is fairly clean...it rains about 3 times per week but usually short periods...the longer lasting rain typically happens at night...after 3 weeks there I became acclimated didn't feel so bad..for city travel I used trikes so the cost was about 40 pesos almost anywhere in town.. I also read that Dumaguete is considered one of the top 5 destinations in the world to retire.. 3 weeks later I went to the same hospital for a follow-up and received good treatment by the same doctor.. On 2 occasions the taxi drivers tried to charge me a lot more so I passed on their service and waited on a trike instead...as an investor I've earned enough money where I'm not worried about cost, but don't like it when people want to take advantage of me simple bc I'm a foreigner.....thank you again for sharing your experience with us.. I'm a huge fan of your vlogs.. May the Lord bless and protect you, as I can sense your kind heart..
Duma medical is a joke. I don't even want to waste my time explaining why. Try having an accident there and see what happens. I know too much about it all. Cebu, manila or Baguio... Anywhere else you're gambling with your life
I have to agree with you on drivers. Years ago I drove my motorcycle from Subic Bay to the American Embassy in Manila. I was cut off like you except by a jeepney. I was forced on to the sidewalk or would of been knockdown like you. Surprising the sidewalk went down a bunch of stairs. I am glad there was no one on the sidewalk at the time. I finally got back on the road and the person I was riding with thought I was doing trick driving or showing off. He didn't realize I was doing that to save a motorcycle crash with injuries. I laughed. but was so scared at the time. Lol
Leptospirosis is rare here in the states, and most cases will present as the flu, but my brother contracted this disease and it almost killed him. It screwed up a valve in his heart and shut down his liver and kidneys. Specialists finally figured out what it was and gave him medication and he got better.
Rubeauty, brilliantly practical and informative. I really enjoyed the reality you sketched. This knowledge helps tremendously. Take good care of yourself 🤗
This is making me rethink my plans to retire to the Phils. Here in the U.S the hospitals are required by law to provide basic healthcare whether the patient can pay or not.
i saw a video of a foreigner using "Grab" ? is that the app? anyways he release his video about 2-3 weeks ago and he said to avoid the taxi line and walk down 2-3 blocks down from the airport and he used the app grab and the taxi got there in 5 minutes and he paid $5usd which is a lot cheaper than the taxi line at the airport.
You really helping people with your Chanel giving some good insights. I would consider moving there I like simple living and honest down to earth people so thank you.
Good video! Lots of traffic jams. I try to stay off the road during busy hours but it sounds crazy in Manila with this problem. Midnight till 5am is deserted on the road in my city. That's when I can travel quicker.
When it rains, I stay home or if I need to go somewhere I catch a trike and carry an umbrella. I also wear vinyl shoes to protect my feet from all the street bacteria. Don't want to catch a staphylococcus infection on my skin.
I totally agree with your advice at the end there about staying for a longer period before deciding to move there permanently, that's good advice regardless of where you're thinking of retiring to. I know this was a list of negative things but as a non-smoker one of the things mentioned is a definite plus to me 😁
I agree with the medical problem sissy koi , the medical system is very bad pay first before something, planning financially , living by your means is the best thing ,Good job , very good in English.
This video had to be made to show the other side of the coin....it was very informative and prepares you for the good, the bad and the ugly...a very realistic view of the Philippines. There are many "pro" videos ..not enough " con" videos. Nicely done !
Some very good advice you give. My wife and I have a house out in the province but as I get close to the retirement age we're going to buy a condo in Manila to be near the better hospitals, hopefully never needing to use them. Pollution is a problem and so is dogs roaming around. You are right about the natural disasters, very worrisome . I have been there seven times but never more than 16 days, I'm going to start building up more more more time to see if I can take the Philippines all year round, that's why I'm keeping a small condo in America.
I Love The Philippine. Been going back And Forward since 2000. People are Beautiful. I never have any problems. Because I know People’s. Philippine & Japan My Two Country I Been visiting. United States , My Home , My Family Here. But I Always Visit Baguio City Every Year. Stay 3-4 Months at a time. Philippine is Beautiful Relaxing.😎 Ya Continue Too Stay Safe. Stay Strong...
Best place to live if you have any health issues, in my opinion, is Baguio. Baguio is the most healthy city in the Philippines. And, unless you want the REALLY hot weather, Baguio is great in so many ways. I liked living in Cebu, but I loved living in Baguio, and my wife and I have discussed retiring in Baguio at some time.
There is a good hospital in Baguio. And it’s now just 4 to 5 hour drive to Manila. Just pick a good neighborhood. The nearest beaches are a short 1.5 hour drive in La Union and Pangasinan.
Baguio is a great suggestion, especially if one is seeking a medium sized city. My fiancèe is a Kankana-ey girl from Besao, which in higher and further inland but reasonably close. She and I will be living there.
@20:50 the garbage can actually be a good thing if you think about for a second. I own a smelter so I can melt metal, I'd take all of the cans then melt them to turn the aluminum into duralumin. Duralumin is a combination of certain metals and it's used to make car parts and airplane parts. You can sell that for good money. The plastic I would heat up to turn into cups to sell. If you get that much trash on a regular basis I would go around collecting it and profiting on it 🤑
Traffic starts at 5am on C-5 and then ends at... well, it never ends actually. The big trucks come out at 9pm. Moved to the Province after a couple of years dealing with that diba.
Great video. Some sober discussion of the issues in your country. Who would voluntarily want to deal with that traffic stress regardless if you are a driver or pedestrian or just have to get somewhere? It seems like people are forgetting it's still a developing country. To me a reasonably working infrastructure is important, a clean environment, and a climate where I don't need constant showers due to excessive sweating. Those typhoons are also destructive and unpredictable. It's not for the faint of heart. The corruption would be very hard to tolerate as well for someone who has not had to deal with that their whole life.
Honestly, many of the same problems in the US. My neighborhood flooded last September during a hurricane. 🌀 Taxi drivers all over are known for being questionable, which is why Uber and Lyft are so popular. Dog 💩 in most big cities. Bad drivers. 😡 And even though the hospital doesn't make you pay up front, you may get a huge bill later, especially if you have insurance. It seems to me that wherever you are attitude is everything. 😁
You have obviously never been to the Philippines...as is probably the case with most people leaving their brilliant comments, otherwise you'd know that there's zero comparison between a third-world country and the US in pretty much anything, and that in particula is the case-in-point with the Phlippines. It is exactly as bad as described here X100...and yes, it is also a beautiful place, particularly when/if you get to live in your little western bubble, but it has a long way to go when it comes to the filth, traffic, infra-structure, poverty, sanitation in hospitals etc etc etc, and you can't ignore it unless you stay within the resort/gated community. Go there with an open mind and low expectations and accept it as is; then you might have a chance. Cheers
Very good points are covered in this video. Excellent stuff. BTW, maybe do a sound check first before starting to properly record as the sound here was not the greatest and was distracting at times. I hope this helps. All the best :)
Yes, something was in the background noise level that caused me to pause the video several times. I kept thinking that I had a fan making noise, almost sounded like the ringing in my ears.
Thank You Again Rubeuti, I can't do Manila, Cebu area is drawing me, it's centrally located and I'm looking forward to retiring to.PH Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next Vlog
Vitamin B6 supplements can be helpful in the treatment of kidney stones. You should look into it. Eating foods rich in Vitamin B6 should be part of your diet. Cranberry juice can be helpful too. Drink plenty of fluids.
I rode the metro rail once. Never again. I got to know some Filipinos more intimately than I cared to that day. Think a can of sardines but stuffed to 3x capacity.
Sorry to correct you, AGAIN. I know I'm obnoxious ;-) You can't catch a cold from changing weather or cold weather.. Rain and cold only make people cram together in malls and other places and it is the closeness to others that transfer the virus, not the temperature or any other old beliefs. We have those here too, still.
When I visited the Philippines in 2019 my fiance turn on Google Map from point A to point B and Google would tell us which way to turn. A couple of taxis that really irritated them. As long as we had that GPS talking telling us where to go we had no problems of course that was on mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu
Hi Rubeauti. Yes, there are negatives but think the positives outweigh the negatives. It's always a good idea to have health insurance when you are in another country. By the way, it's very hot here as well. 46C today.
Thank you for this video. It is informative, well organized, and funny. You have a nice voice for videos. Clear. Easily heard. Good enunciation. Deeper tone. ..... BUSINESS / LAND LAWS : Yes! Foreign owners of a business originating in the Philippines may own a maximum of 60% of the organization and profits, but never its real estate. However, foreigners can own 100% of a foreign company but with limitations. Considering your history with mainland Asians, Europeans, and perhaps some Americans, this is not a bad idea.

Anywhere else you're gambling with your life
Why not cut to the chase and ask her to be with you?
@@danielcox1537 😁
Danail.. she would be awesome to be in a relationship with. She is smart and very beautiful.
@@robertmoore1123 She has never disclosed she's available...but agree...Miss Rubeati is the complete package...intelligent, pretty, and sexy....
Very very good video! Have to say. Probably the best I've seen on this subject! Well done young lady!
Thank you for sharing the facts regarding your beautiful country. 💯
Omg I am absolutely thrilled . No smoking !!! Thank
G-d!!!!!!!
I always support your views in all you do! Thank you for your honesty and love! I am in love with you forever!! Amen
Thanks Ate. Always a good watch.
Everything that you have said is 100% right as always your information is very helpful keep up the good work. You look good as usual.
Another Fantastic Video!!! I did learn alot of this During 4 months of Research!! And alot of videos about Taxi's!!
Great vídeo. Very informative. I want to see Taguig now. Thank you.
i saw a video of a foreigner using "Grab" ? is that the app? anyways he release his video about 2-3 weeks ago and he said to avoid the taxi line and walk down 2-3 blocks down from the airport and he used the app grab and the taxi got there in 5 minutes and he paid $5usd which is a lot cheaper than the taxi line at the airport.
@@Rubeauti why is that?
@@Rubeauti like why isnt there a lot of grab drivers. and what part of ph can you mostly find grab drivers in?
@@cutflow2 ..because its terrible money..like uber
You really helping people with your Chanel giving some good insights. I would consider moving there I like simple living and honest down to earth people so thank you.
Great information Rubeati, and you look fantastic! Thank you 😊
Good info Rubeauti I appreciate it very much keep up the good work 😎🌺
Great video!! I'm coming to Manila and you would be a great tour guide, just saying! Have a good one be safe
Good video! Lots of traffic jams. I try to stay off the road during busy hours but it sounds crazy in Manila with this problem. Midnight till 5am is deserted on the road in my city. That's when I can travel quicker.
This gives me something to think about. I'm not an older guy, but I'll be making my way to the Philippines soon!
It is very nice that you tell us all this and that you are so honest. Thanks .
I know this was a list of negative things but as a non-smoker one of the things mentioned is a definite plus to me 😁
likewise on the smoking ban enforcement .. a HUGE plus for me as well !!
I agree with the medical problem sissy koi , the medical system is very bad pay first before something, planning financially , living by your means is the best thing ,Good job , very good in English.
Great information. So sorry you had kidney stones very painful. Thanks for sharing
This video had to be made to show the other side of the coin....it was very informative and prepares you for the good, the bad and the ugly...a very realistic view of the Philippines.
There are many "pro" videos
..not enough " con" videos. Nicely done !
Nice vlog arriving in Makati soon Luv your channel ❤️ just be yourself
Nice vlog :) A small correction though; foreigners can own a business now 100% - with some few exceptions. New law of 2019.
Spot on Ate 🙏🏽
Some very good advice you give. My wife and I have a house out in the province but as I get close to the retirement age we're going to buy a condo in Manila to be near the better hospitals, hopefully never needing to use them. Pollution is a problem and so is dogs roaming around. You are right about the natural disasters, very worrisome . I have been there seven times but never more than 16 days, I'm going to start building up more more more time to see if I can take the Philippines all year round, that's why I'm keeping a small condo in America.
Great Video Thanks !
I am going to ck out Baguio the only downside I read was that it ranked pretty high on pollution, no worse than Cebu though or Manila.
Baguio is a great suggestion, especially if one is seeking a medium sized city. My fiancèe is a Kankana-ey girl from Besao, which in higher and further inland but reasonably close. She and I will be living there.
Tthank u for this candid video, u are both beautiful and hones☺️😍
15:00....that's why Filipinos are slim and in good shape.... Running from their lives crossing the street.
Cheers
@@lbj4993 Truth bomb. Well said.
yea, we have the same trouble with "gold mines" in Berlin :) Thx 4 sharing!
Thank You Again Rubeuti, I can't do Manila, Cebu area is drawing me, it's centrally located and I'm looking forward to retiring to.PH
Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next Vlog
Vitamin B6 supplements can be helpful in the treatment of kidney stones. You
should look into it. Eating foods rich in Vitamin B6 should be part of your diet.
Cranberry juice can be helpful too. Drink plenty of fluids.
Thanks for the video 😘
I rode the metro rail once. Never again. I got to know some Filipinos more intimately than I cared to that day. Think a can of sardines but stuffed to 3x capacity.
Sorry to correct you, AGAIN. I know I'm obnoxious ;-) You can't catch a cold from changing weather or cold weather.. Rain and cold only make people cram together in malls and other places and it is the closeness to others that transfer the virus, not the temperature or any other old beliefs. We have those here too, still.
Thank you gave a lot good information helpful as from would need to know ❤thanks
thank you for the great advice 😍
When I visited the Philippines in 2019 my fiance turn on Google Map from point A to point B and Google would tell us which way to turn. A couple of taxis that really irritated them. As long as we had that GPS talking telling us where to go we had no problems of course that was on mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu
Smart :)
Another interesting topic. But I just love seeing you.
Lovely woman clear concise English and good content.
Your episodes are always so informative and you are always so Gwapa !!!!
Hi Rubeauti. Yes, there are negatives but think the positives outweigh the negatives. It's always a good idea to have health insurance when you are in another country. By the way, it's very hot here as well. 46C today.
you have the best explanation so far and right on. I have been there mnay times before
My expats don't tell it like you do since they are not Filipino
I see this an old video but it was very informative.
Thanks for the knowledge ❤
Thank you for this video. It is informative, well organized, and funny. You have a nice voice for videos. Clear. Easily heard. Good enunciation. Deeper tone. ..... BUSINESS / LAND LAWS : Yes! Foreign owners of a business originating in the Philippines may own a maximum of 60% of the organization and profits, but never its real estate. However, foreigners can own 100% of a foreign company but with limitations. Considering your history with mainland Asians, Europeans, and perhaps some Americans, this is not a bad idea.

Hi Rubeauti. You are a very intelligent woman and speak English perfectly. You provided very useful information. Thank you. I hope to meet a woman like you there in the future. I am a Canadian living in Japan and am considering moving to the Philippines 🇵🇭.
Excellent video. Thank you 👍
It was my pleasure to share this with you! Thank you for taking the time to watch and appreciate it.
I don’t have to worry about owning land since I was born in Manila all I need to do is get my dual citizenship. When I’m there I use Grab because I got scammed twice from arriving to Manila using the taxi. Grab is great I can go anywhere to visit relatives. I enjoy staying in Manila when I vacation since all my cousins live around the area. The rest live in Bicol that too boring for me to visit. I’m a city person…province life is too slow get bored easily.
Totally feel the same about province life. I could do a medium sized city but not in the middle of nowhere in the province.
You always tell the facts, so that makes you real Sweet Lady
Thanks for advisory, I used to think Philippines is a wonderful place,I now have a better understanding of everything
Yep, another really important video to watch.
