Luv your videos!!! I bought the Royal x8 recurve #45 and a 28” draw. I went with your recommendation and it throughs darts with a 30” warrior 400spine 250gr up front. Well I’ve since bought a Tbow 19” riser with Hermit x10 #45 limbs. I also had chance on a good deal for 12 Easton 6.5mm bare shafts. My 30” warriors were a touch week for the new bow. I started with the Eastons cut down to 29.5in still slightly week. Cut down to to 29” and now it was slightly stiff with 275gr up front bare shaft. Played with tip weight a bit goin up to 300gr up front and nothing changed. I don’t have heavier tips so I’ve heard better touch week then touch stiff. This was all off shelf. Well decided to get an elevated rest and play with that. Groups immediately shrunk to 2-3in👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. However still hitting slightly nock right. Decided to throughs some trad vanes on it and hoped that would bring arrow back to perfect. Well with 275 up front at 29” and 3 fletch trad vanes I’m now back to slightly week. Not quite sure what to do now??? The two arrows now shoot exactly the same a tough week. Maybe 1/2 to 1in week. Frustrated to say the least as the royal x8 tuned perfect almost from the jump!!!

Arrows are the biggest mystery in archery. It’s hard to get them so they fly straight and true every time. The calculators for spines just can’t take everything into it (like is it cut to center or less or more). I like GT traditional 500 spine carbon at full length 32” (my draw is 30”). With 50g insert and 150-175g tip. I swear this is the only arrow that works in all 3 of my bows. One bow is 30# one is 36# and one is 40# (all are about 5 lbs. extra at my draw). Jeff always has awesome info especially on how to build and test arrows for each bow.

Really cool video Jeff! I have not seen your shooting machine video yet but I might make one just for kicks. A fair way to check the speed of bows with different arrows. I realize a finger release affects arrow tuning so we all have to final tune but this way is less tiring. lol. I have several bows that I enjoy shooting so I have begun to keep a log of what works with each bow. My old brain can't remember anymore without writing it down. Thanks again for this insightful video.

Jeff, did you ever set up the Autumn Orange aluminums? I watched all of the set ups--I thought. I didn't see the aluminum set ups. I personally like aluminums better. Thanks.

So I draw 26” and I get a lot of weak readings out of a 40 pound bow at 28”… with 600 spine arrows with only around 150 to 175 on front. Do you think it might be so stiff it’s bouncing off the side plate and kicking it tail left or maybe bow torque???

, i am 45@27", my 500 cut at 28"with 192gr. treeshark and 50 gr insert weigh 484 gr. is that an acceptable hunting weight or do they all have to be 550 gr. minimum?

Hi Jeff, question for you? I'm using a slick stick 58in longbow at my drawl 24.5 im about 41lbs with 500 traditional shafts if you set up this bow what would you do with500 traditional size and EFOC? Thanks for your help

I would think with around a 28” arrow you will probably be looking at 275-300 grains of point weight (Inserts and tips) for it to tune good.

Great vid, unfortunately in uk we cant hunt. We can do 3d but its not the same. But still im sure it will have some influences with target shooting.

Unfortunately, I believe your release mechanism isn't giving you real world results...releasing from fingers imparts a sideward movement of the string and an flexing ocillation to the arrow. Releasing the string with a compound style release doesn't impart such reactions. Perhaps you could redo your testing with a release that more accurately simulates a set of fingers releasing the bow string. Just my two cents. Appreciate all your efforts just the same.

    • @GeraldTurner-rz2pz
      @GeraldTurner-rz2pz Місяць тому

Yes but, the only way to accurately determine the arrows effects is to have the bow mechanically held and the string mechanically released. There's too much possibility of faulty form and release if you do it by hand. thanks

Jeff, the arrow tuning of the western traditional bow is so troublesome and time-consuming.
If you have three bows, you must prepare three sets of arrows.
One bow cannot shoot arrows from another bow.
Why don't you shoot Asian traditional bows?
For Asian traditional bows, such as Tatar bows and Turkish bows, as long as you use the Khatra shooting method, you can shoot any arrow (any Spine, any length ) without having to do these troublesome arrow tuning.
Moreover, you can't use western traditional bows to do fast shooting at all. This is why a hunter who uses a western traditional bow needs another person with a rifle to protect him when hunting. It is incredible. Why doesn't the hunter just use a gun to hunt?
Don't you think Asian bows are better?
Would you tell me why you chose Western traditional bows instead of Asian traditional bows?
    Thank you.
