    At the end of the first game of the series, though, Orlando's Nick Anderson would strip Jordan from behind, leading to the game-winning basket for the Magic; he would later comment that "No. 45 is not No. 23. I couldn't have done that to No. 23.", after which Jordan returned to wear his old number (23).

It didn't matter what the defense did he wasn't dictated by the defender. It was his pace.

This is after sitting out for 2 years and coming back and playing only 17 games for the regular season with no type of formal basketball training those two years and he was still Rusty but would still give you glimpses of his greatness. The following year after a full training camp at a full season under him he dominated the Orlando Magic and swept their asses in the playoffs to go on to win three more championships in a row. I can compare James to the young Karl Malone in his young NBA years, especially when they both age at 24 and 25. Both also played the same forward positions and are prolific scorers, except that James had a three year head start at age 19. But even then, Malone's numbers in stats are a way better than James for any respect (at ages 24 and 25). I think the only consideration you can compare James to Jordan is his popularity in the sport.

    • @paeng46
      @paeng46 10 років тому +1

      therealist811 Yes. You also have to reckon the ambiguity effect (in psychology) that the present day sports networks and media brought to the present day audience. Jordan's popularity is still there; but not so much to the younger generation who followed James's games in the present day NBA. One thing is, they almost prefer to watch James videos in UA-cam over Jordan, because it's on HD (High Definition).

    Watch the replay of the baseline fadeaway over Penny at 3:08. You can see one of the most important elements that made that shot so unguardable. He uses his hips and rear to bump Penny enough to knock him off balance and create seperation, about 2 feet of space. Penny is nowhere near that shot when he jumps to contest it. Combine that strength with leaping ability and the ability to hit tough shots, and it's almost unstoppable.

      That's something to consider but numbers in sports always have to be contextualized:
      - Kobe came into the league straight out of high school, so his game wasn't nearly as developed as Jordan's was when he entered the league. He barely played as a rookie and didn't start until his third season.
      - He also had to play with Shaq until he was in his 9th season.
      All of these things made it virtually impossible for him to have a career average that would rival Jordan.

      Johny Kilroy I was wrong about it being the following year, you were right there, I'll give you that. He did destroy them the following year but this wasn't the next year video. However, you're completely wrong on your second attempt at a point. BJ was on this video, which you yourself said is plastered with 1995 playoffs. Anyone who is an NBA fan knows that this 94/95 year was BJ Armstrong's last years with the bulls until he came back in 99/00 for a year, so unfortunately no, everyone DOESN'T know he was only on the 91-93 championship teams. They know otherwise. Which even you yourself said in your previous line that he was in this video! Making you either extremely confused or not too bright by defeating your own attempt at a point, either way is embarrassing.

    Mike made it a personal thing. There was a different fire inside this man that NO other player in the history of any sports can and won't be able to tap into. It not just being competitive. It's a uniqueness that only God gives to only one person. Look at the two times when the double team came from the big man. He used the aggression of the big man's help as a screen to shield off the initial person guarding him then knowing if he attacked the big man against his momentum he would have a clear shot.

    Just so athletics. He moved better than everyone on the court to free himself up for scoring opportunities. Then it was a matter of hitting a 15 foot pull up with space he created for himself. And if anyone was near him with the ball there was the threat of a steal. Amazing. And this was the season he just came back and they didn't win it all. The next 3 years they were just so dominant and so was MJ.

    Besides being the game where he switched from 45 to 23 without league approval, this was the first time he wore the concords. Technically, he wasn't suppose to be wearing them yet. He received a sample of the Jordan XIs, and he decided to wear them even though they weren't even complete or being produced yet .. if you pause @ 3:13, you clearly see that this model looks off and dont look right. He only wore them 2 games, was fined by the league and then he wore the Space Jams afterwards. The retail version of the shoe, and the ones he wore during the 1996 season, werent released until 6 months later in November ..
