Turn like a pro for perfect golf swing impact! Let's set you up to have an effortless golf swing!
In today's video, Mike Granato and Shaun Webb of Athletic Motion Golf show you exactly how to have an open position at Impact in your golf swing.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, their 4-step process will help elevate your game:
🏌️‍♂️ Positioning the Golf Club - Discover why the starting position of the club dictates your golf swing rotation's success. Remember: an improperly placed club will hinder your rotation instead of enhancing it. The magic lies in ensuring the club face is vertical, fostering a natural rotation in the golf swing, setting you up for perfect impact.
🏌️‍♂️ Arming Yourself for Success - It's not just about the golf club; your arms play a crucial role too! Navigate through the myriad of information out there and discover the true trajectory your arms need to follow for the perfect golf swing. With Athletic Motion Golf's guidance, you'll understand the difference between pulling down and lowering the arms, ensuring an optimal impact in the golf swing every time.
🏌️‍♂️ Aligning the Spine - Your spine's positioning can make or break your golf swing's rotation. Keep it neutral for maximum rotation. An overly tilted spine can disrupt your swing path, leading to less-than-desirable golf shots.
🏌️‍♂️ Mastering Knee Movement - Contrary to popular belief, just twisting open won't do the trick. Your knees drive your hips, which in turn affects your golf swing. Discover the difference in knee flex between professional golfers and amateurs, and find out how this subtle adjustment can drastically improve your swing and generate the perfect impact you're after.
We blend 2D and 3D analyses, real-time demonstrations, drills, and expert tips from Mike and Shaun to help you understand the science and art behind the perfect golf rotation. Whether you want to get more open at impact, achieve an open hip position, or understand the importance of turn and impact in your golf swing, this video covers it all.

If your a golfer who wants to get better, take this vid to the range, put it on a loop, and do exactly what AMG says. Work on the sequence a piece at time and film yourself. You will be taking your buddies money in no time. But it takes work and dealing with frustration. Went from an 18 to a 3. I’m not a young guy and I outdrive just about everyone in my men’s group. Even the flat belly guys. When they pull a 7 and I’m pulling a PW they joke around a lot by saying I really need to hit from the tips. I’m starting to get the feeling they aren’t really joking.

There is so much false and poorly communicated information out there. Shawn and Mike not only present the facts, but they present it in a clear and concise way. @@AthleticMotionGolf Whoa. Then that would seem to mean that the hands/arms must be rotating in the opposite direction - and not merely dropping - in order to appear to be merely (mostly) dropping in the DTL video, no? If so, then a "feel" for such a move would sure be nice to have. Maybe something like the tail end of an "out-to-in" loop? Now that I think about it, maybe that's an aspect of that Justin Rose "pump drill" that I haven't picked up on.

Confirms what ive been doing wrong as my hands have obviously been coming out towards the ball...
The bicep down then arms then wrists and hands to pocket hepls me alot...
Following this along my hands feel like they lower so far behind me compared to what im currently doing, it doesnt feel like i can get back to the ball with my standard swing mechanics...
Going to slowly get this arm/club movement into my swing.
Atleast i will know if the club etc is in the right spot...
My body will organise itself around that correctly or atleast close to make it functional.

Do you guys have a video which talks about recentering + right-hip into impact.
My bad-tendency is to get ‘slidey’. It starts from a slide on the backswing - instead of a turn,
& then from the top - the left hip slides, I don’t ‘plant’ properly, & the right hip ends up being a passenger.
When I’m swinging well, I make a much better ‘turn’, & on the downswing, I feel like my right-hip ‘pressures’ the ground & brings me into a nice balanced powerful position into impact - then there is good balance & effortless power.
Great videos as always - for me, it’s always about turning the turning the upper body on the way back, & then the right hip on the way down.

I try not to watch much golf tips/instruction on line, simply because I don't want to start doing things that contradict what my teacher is having me work on. However I find your information (backed by the use of gears) very intriguing. The one thing that I find great in this video, along with others where you have mentioned the same thing, is the unfolding of the arms on the way back to the ball. There is so much out there about turn/tilt/side bend that we often forget the arms have to move as well. When I practice (slowly) lowering the bicep, unfolding at the elbow, and unhinging the wrist just makes everything fall into place. The club shallows and approaches from the inside. The swing feels free and smooth. The lowering and unfolding of the arms seems to just naturally make other things happen without even thinking or trying.

Does the speed at which you lower your arms affect your overall club head speed? I ask this because it seems to for me…. Maybe it’s only because if I lower them faster I have to pivot faster (seemingly) but not sure of the dynamics on this…thanks for the great videos!

    • @dderrig
      @dderrig 8 місяців тому

I would like to clarify my question in that since the arms don’t “swipe across the body” in your words I assume they just move forward from the pivot. If that truly is the case than would lowering the arms into position faster in and of itself crate faster club head speed assuming everything else is done correctly…,sorry if this is obvious but from a 2d perspective it’s not clear to me…

Secondly you talk about being fooled by still images and video. As a teenager when I first picked up a golf club the first thing I did was read my fathers Golf Digest Magazines and through a few instruction books that let’s just say were questionable instruction. Literally, for years and years I was so screwed up that I quit the game for a long time before picking it up about a year and a half ago. Through you guys and a few other great teachers the game is fun again and I know when I am practicing I am doing the correct things to get better.

Hi guys. While this video is invaluable , is it not just another SWING THOUGHT for us average golfers to deal with? I'm sure that you would agree with Ben Hogan's instruction on this very subject. In his book POWER GOLF he says "THE TURNING OF YOUR LEFT HIP BRINGS YOUR HANDS AND CLUB DOWN TOWARD THE BALL APPROXIMATELY THREE FEET" I offer this insight with the greatest respect to you guys

Fully on board with all of the tips here, but it is curious how opposite some coaches feel about this. I've seen a video from Dana Dahlquist recently where he teaches a high level player to do at least three of the wrong things here in this video. He advocated: Leave the arms up, spin the pelvis open and left hip back away immediately in transition, and create max separation

I’m wondering if that session with that high level player was more of a “feel” (not real) for that particular golfer. Many videos I’ve viewed thru the years have been confusing to say the least with regard to NOT differentiating between feel/real of that particular lesson. I tend to retain/understand the most when the instructor points out both the “feel vs. real” aspects of the lesson and the importance between the two…and pointing out that your “feel” and my “feel” can be miles apart but effective with regard to that individual. Anyway, great vids and “imperial evidence” on this channel with the receipts to back them up.

Echoing their answer - The 3D modeling absolutely busts so many 'traditional' methods out of the water, nevermind the video illusions created by 2D video of the pros on TV. I just saw a video of a Pro saying, the arms swing turn the body, when nothing could be further from the truth. Your eyes will see for themselves what Tour Pros *really* do with the Gears technology. Seek out some of those videos for empirical evidence of what really should happen in a swing..

I always enjoy your videos but why don't you ever do gears on hogan? Would like to see his stats? So hogan did 5 things in his swing, he kept the clubface in a square position, he shoulder turn was over 90 degrees, he went behind the tush line the entire swing, he has a grip that was strong enough to slightly close face at impact. And he had connection in the right arm. The reason you don't do a video on a 90 plus shoulder turn is you don't understand how to activate the right shoulder on backswing, its connection with extension and left side bend and closed clubface! Next is the tush line and how to get behind it like hogan. Thats turning the right hip on backswing and turning left hip on downswing then a lateral slide of weight to left foot, hogan also shallowed the club in transition. So in summation the tour swing is a 90 plus degree shoulder turn with square clubface, swallowing the club with square clubface, rotation going behind the tush line in backswing and downswing then a lateral shift to left foot. I can do all this in my swing, I know its technical but only hogan can unlock your gears to a higher level. Thanks

I have a question regarding spine tilt that was addressed in this video. Why are highly regarded coaches like Mike Bender and Kyle Morris huge advocates for spine tilt at address when you're showing the biomechanics argue against it? Those two coaches teach the spine tilt at address to help with in to out path. I am just curious about a more full explanation for/against it.

@AthleticMotionGolf Thanks for the reply and that totally makes sense! I'm wondering if you can touch further on that and just highlight why those coaches might teach that. I'm guessing it isn't an ignorance thing. I just want to know if, at what point something like that needs to be disregarded in their coaching program that is being followed if you're advocating against what they teach. I'm just trying to gather information from both sides!

I love everything you guys say and I think it is 100 percent accurate. However, there is absolutely no way an average golfer can just learn these positions by “getting into them”. These positions are all dynamic that happen through great golfers making great motion. I have tried for years to just “copy these positions “ with little to no luck. You have to understand how these players get there dynamically (through motion) to have any chance at all of creating these positions

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 місяців тому

Bad golfers, average golfers, good golfers, and great golfers all learn new things the same way. By going slow enough to create the new movement they are working on, and they use feedback, not feel, to validate it being correct. Luck plays no part in the process. Pros are disciplined to do it until the thing is learned. 98% of ams quit the process in the “valley of despair.”

Lots to love about AMG but one big love how repetitive you are. The key to learning is repetition of the same points. Imo. And these two just keep going over these critical points over and over in but always in refreshing ways that feels like a whole new lesson because it’s being learned from a new perspective.
Anyways. I cannot complement enough and I’m more known for being a critic.

It’s almost like you guys have the knowledge of pros but know more about amateur swings than anyone. I mean that as a compliment. Just showing what you are supposed to do isn’t as helpful as showing why and the common amateur mistakes. I started as an adult and playing the ball down PGA rules I’m an 88-90 player. May not seem like a good score but when I play with guys shooting in the 80’s that are losing 12 balls a round it’s very good. Obviously they aren’t adding on the 36 strokes that came with the dozen balls they lost.
