    Shaun Webb is one of the truly cutting-edge instructors in the game of golf. His knowledge is spot on, and his swing is gorgeous!! What I like as well is that he doesn't talk down to his students. Both of these men are very strong in that regard. Great content with being condescending to the students.

    The first DON’T was me. 😢
    Hands too far forward with torso facing the ball.
    So I was pulling my driver a lot. In fact I couldn’t understand why I was hitting my 5 wood as long as my driver (180). So my driver has been in time out for awhile.
    So today, I addressed the ball with hands in front and hanging naturally.
    Initially I couldn’t get the clubface squared. So I just moved the ball back a little more(I always had the ball too far forward of left heel anyway) and I was hitting the ball solidly and long and straight. Back to my 220+ drives.
    You guys are the best. I love your lessons and the simple explanations and drills.
    Thanks so much. ❤Barb

    Bloody hell, you guys are gold. I’ve wasted thousands on lessons from very good teachers; even built swing plane boards and machine, to worse than to no avail, I actually got worse. That and a library that explains pretty much every swing theory going.
    I’ve just watched two of your vids , one was four years ago and the other three years ago. Your explanations are the best that I’ve seen in that you also explain what can create an unforeseen issue.

    Hey, thanks guys! Got caught in the "rotational swing" rabbit hole (all the iterations you could name!) but realized my golf coach from a couple of years ago was actually trying to teach me some of the principles that you guys hammer away at so now I'm trying to watch everything you guys put out. For the doubters, it's watching the videos and doing the drills that makes all the difference. I'm an "11" but just shot 74, 79 my last two. How the arms actually move on the backswing and early downswing has changed everything but all your stuff is proving super helpful.
    Would love to see a video on flighting the ball with all the clubs without trying to artificially hold lag which doesn't seem to work for me. I'm playing in Ireland soon I think it would make a difference. Cheers from beautiful British Columbia!

    Thanks for the great instruction. Would love to see to a video where you isolate the impact zone arms and hands only like you did with the shallowing video. The shallowing video 7 months ago was one of the best golf videos I have ever watched. Now trying to figure out how the pros actually make impact or contact. Do they roll or bow or throw a bounce pass like hogan said or shaft lean into impact with lean angle away just after impact with butt pointing back at body. Do they feel a throwing motion at impact as with a ball where hand releases after the throw. After arms lower and right arm bend releases do the wrists extend to ball. An isolation video on this would be great!

    Excellent advice as always. Thank you. I think there is another small thing that can creep into the swing and cause a high block right. If you tilt the spine to the right at address, not a lot just a bit, it can also cause the shoulders to open a bit, and as a result the club face will be a bit open at contact. It seems to be something that happens because you are thinking about hitting the ball on the upswing. You can correct it by keeping your shoulders a bit more level and a bit more closed at address. Both this small error and the correction may be related to what you show about keeping the hands centered at your belt buckle and the shaft tilted back of the ball. Would like to know how you see it.

    What’s your take on pros like Hovland bending their lead arm? Why do they do it? How do they do it? Should we be trying to? It seems contrary to what you’ve talked about on the channel regarding pulling/wiping the hands across your front.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf

      Not contradictory at all because all pros have their lead arm bent at impact. Some more than others like Hovland.

    I appreciated your teaching points in this video! However, the re-centering aspect of the driver swing (and all swings) is the most difficult to perform on a consistent basis in my opinion. Love your analytics!

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  6 місяців тому

      Very common issue. The biggest culprit we see causing that is try to do it with too much up body lean towards target. Think of it as a lower body movement, that when done correctly, carry the upper with it back to the center 😉

    As your recentering while finishing your backswing turn, are you increasing the bend in the lead knee a touch? Also, your demonstration of how to move the lead shoulder incorrectly in the swing sort of looks like what hovland tries to do when chippin/pitching, any thoughts on that idea for improving short game contact?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf

    Question. Modern drivers allow for changing the loft. Lowering closes the club face while increasing loft opens the club face. When I try Shaun's driver set upI find the club face looks closed, so manipulate my grip to avoid a big hook to the left. , I know you guys are spot on, because when I try the traditional method of setting up in the box, I find myself setting up open to the ball, and now I can easily hit a slice to the right? Any thoughts? I am about ready to go to Redbird-Avian and bite the bullet for a custom fit with fixed hozel. Thoughts?

  • @MrMartwy
    @MrMartwy Рік тому +1

    Could you clarify one thing? I've started implementing this handshake move, and I've found out that I started to push the grip with my right (trail) hand and pull the grip with my left (lead) hand - at the moment of impact. Is this the right feeling?
    It creates tremendous speed at club head but I still feel that I "overclose" the face, as it is such a snap move. It leads me to drag the club to prolong the "squared face" phase.
    Am I supposed to just swing it and in time I will learn to meet the ball with the squared face? Or is this wrong approach and I should get rid of it? Maybe I should change smth in the path so the club face will not close that fast?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  Рік тому

      Feels will be unique to the player. Record your swing to see what’s happening. What’s common with what you’re describing is the trail side not getting through normally due to poor trail leg movement.

    With respect to increasing swing speed, is there a "spinning ice skater" effect at play in any way? In other words, if the arm get away from the body some, will it slow down the rotation and then slow the swing speed? Do the pros on Gears have their arms closer to the body than the amateurs on the forward swing?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  Рік тому

      The ice skater analogy doesn't really apply to golfers because, hopefully, we aren't rotating on the point of one of our shoes 😅 Both feet are in play which does have advantages in generating substantial ground forces that can't be done on skates. Rotation isn't one of the biggest drivers of swing speed. It's super beneficial for other things, however. Pros do a better job of moving their arms up and down. At different phases of the swing, from different camera angles, that might look closer to the body.
