This channel is literally THE BEST THING next to having a tour pro top 10 golfing coach. I've gone from a 50 handicap to a scratch golfer in just 5 videos. Thanks Athletic Motion Golf! You guys rock! haha all jokes aside, I was serious about this channel being by far #1 on any platform akin to having a tour pro top ten golfing coach. The way yous guys explain, use 3D rendering, and show the Pro vs Ams has been a game changer. Can't believe yous guys don't have over 1 million subs already. All those suckers who we all know need this kind of help are just out there in the looking glass watching Good Good Labs for tips. lol, honestly no hate to the Good Good squad. They are pretty legit. I have had hundreds of lessons w a variety of coaches, 2 of which were and are still world class, high profile coaches! I’ve watched your videos for at least 20 hours now and in my living room and then to the driving range changing my swing for the first time in 40 years. In your videos, a common theme that is the game changer, is the miss conception and preconceived conclusions that we then go and practice, that you are helping change those swing thoughts. I have spent thousands of hours rewinding the best golfers in the world swings frame by frame trying to emulate, finally learning how I have wasted an embarrassing amount of time! Thank you
When I 1st started I was overwhelmed and intimidated by these AMG videos. Now that I’ve had time under my belt and lessons this information make more sense and it easily applied to my swing for huge levels progress. I love this channel so much it’s insane.
Starting at zero, the golf swing is insanely complex. Once you have a basic, functional swing these videos provide targeted tweaks. They are quite helpful.
@@AthleticMotionGolf Hey guys great job. But I have a good question. if the weight is on the front foot before the downswing starts, why not just stay on the front foot the whole time ? Like stack and tilt. Appreciate all the work you do.
Your channel is by far head and shoulder above any other channel I've seen. For me the best way to describe it is that your use of the motion capture and 3D rendering allows me to see reals as apposed to feels. Hearing someone explain something is one thing but physically seeing the motions and movements allows me to visualise the instruction in a way I've never been able to previously. Your pro Vs am series is phenomenal and watching your channel combined with looking at my own swing, my old swing and a swing I'd like to imitate as well as your mocaps has got me striking the ball cleaner than I ever have. Thank you
I am a mid single digit handicapper who just started playing again after a couple years. The reason I stopped was because I wasn't happy with how I was playing.
I never understood the weight shift concept properly but the taking weight off one foot to add weight to the other just made something click in my brain and I can’t wait to go to the range now.
The weight shift is a dangerous shift because it can only be passive. You can't use weight shift to trigger your downswing etc unless everything else is aligned. Even pros struggle to get that in sync. Better off trying to feel the clubface in your hands through the swing.
I agree they are the best, this concept of lifting the trail foot to transfer weight, not pushing off, is amazing, and so helpful. thanks guys, for emphasizing this.
I've been doing some research on weight distribution in the golf swing for quite a while and this video literally answered so many questions. You guys are the best !
The problem when discussing shift or pressure, is that many people misunderstand the concept. The shift is a very small movement from the address position to the end of the shift to the trail foot. By the time the club is parallel to the ground & hands at hip height, the shift is finished. By then your weight should be to the inside of the trail foot or no farther than over the ankle when rotation should start to take over the backswing. The same is true of the downswing shift. It should go no farther than the inside or over the ankle of the front foot before the rotation starts & the arms come down thru impact which causes the body to turn with 90% of the weight on the outside of the front foot into the follow-thru. Anything other than those small shifts will result in a sway rather than a turn.
This is the best video I've ever watched explaining weight shift/pressure shift. I was under the impression had to shift mass and was constantly hitting behind the ball with an open face. What a difference this video made. Thanks
The pros at AMG continue to give us GOLD! Rewatch this video and start to reboot your concepts about how to develop speed. I have been enjoying progress with AMG throughout this year. It was very difficult for me to play tournaments and play and practice 3 days in a row due to hip pain from launching through the ball. The Weight and Pressure Series and the Speed System has me playing nearly pain free as I have reduced the Slide and replaced it with a Turn and Burn!
The video on “How to shift weight and pressure like a pro” is a game changer for me. In an attempt to “shift weight” to the back leg on the backswing and push off the back leg vigorously to get the weight on the front leg and post up, I actually set myself up for failure. The video shows how pushing off the back leg adds pressure to that leg. As a result I am late with the pressure shift, hang back on the back leg and hit high blocked shots. On the range I worked on this with the primary thought of lightening the weight on the back foot in transition and not pushing off that foot. In the downswing I was able to move my weight and pressure forward to the front leg and foot, resulting in NO blocked shots. My typical shot pattern was a nice, controlled fade. I can’t wait to take this to the course, as soon as the rain and flooding is over here in Texas.
Game-changing content! I spent a year with different coach teaching me one of those wrong concepts and it was wreaking havoc on my swing. Thankfully, for the past year, I have been reprogramming this with the help of AMG+ content and coaching, including a completely different way of practicing. For those of you out there who are addicted to this channel and are not in AMG+, you are missing out.
The best layman pressure shift video/explanation on the web bar none! Many high profile instructors & profs love to show off their knowledge by being overly complex explaining their knowledge of the software. This video was gold and has helped to transform my swing. I knew I needed enhanced pressure but was getting there late on the backswing and of course then I couldn't get enough pressure left at P5. Thanks so much!
I've been looking for a channel JUST LIKE THIS! You guys give real reasons for why we do things and logical reasons and examples of what we need to do. Perfect. I've felt this athletic motion with my woods but just couldn't get it in my driver swing. Too slow, missing the athleticism. Yesterday for the first time I was finding it after watching your videos. Consistently hitting my driver 20 yards longer. And I didn't wear out like I used to wear out. Played 2.5 rounds in the sim and my last drive was still 250 as opposed to the 220 it used to be, on a good day. Now I want to find someone local who can wire me up and keep moving forward. Thank you!
Your content is genuinely amazing ! The swing is such a tough game and can get tougher the harder you look when your looking in the wrong direction or with the wrong focus. So it’s essential to have a clear language and clear idea in order to progress. Your excellent content is the clearest I have come across online or in lessons. I really wished I lived closer! Thank you for the excellent content and dedication to clarity
I’ve been doing the AMG + for over a year. Best $ I’ve ever spent. Originally signed up because I felt guilty consuming all their content that is free on UA-cam and Instagram and not having to pay anything for it. AMG + takes everything to a whole new level with much more structure and a little guidance from the guys along the way. Wish I had this 20 years ago as I was beginning my golf career. Highly recommend!
That was the best explanation of shifting weight I’ve ever seen. Especially where you spoke about putting all your weight on the left side but were pressing with the right foot. Game changer
Thank you so much. I always had a natural flow swing shifting pressure and weight to the right then back left. But I had other flaws. I tried to fix by following a centered / always weight forward approach. I did everything I could not to sway. But I found myself chopping wood. Lately I re started shifting pressure to the right and even weight. But I am anticipating the leftward pressure shift as im finishing the backswing coil. Swing is smooth and in out again. This helps reinforce this path. I imagine pressure moving from inside the right back to the left , then I just unwind
So I've been continuing to work on this and in my studies, ran across the George Knudson book. He was so all over this topic. The perspective I now have is this: the goal is to create a stable impact position. Can't do that if we're moving though that point, something you guys have said over and over. George said that we need to get 75% of our weight/pressure on the right side. If I'm starting at 50/50 before my initial left foot pressure to get the swing started then I'm only really moving 25% of my weight/pressure to my right foot before I head back to the left while still turning. That ain't a lot of pressure going back. It's like I feel a slight increase in pressure in my right foot then I'm headed back to the left for impact stability. It's very slight and subtle pressure increase. George also said the quicker he was able to transfer his pressure, the better he hit it. I have I very slight roll on my right foot due to the knee moving laterally too much and this thought has reduced it to being almost imperceptible at full speed. I can see it on slow motion though. Hitting it very consistently.
This makes hitting a golf ball infinitely easier. I was always trying to slow down at the top so I had time to shift forward, but with these concepts I don’t need to think about timing and can swing as hard as I like and still hit it solid and straight. Thanks so much!!
I’ve been subscribed to AMG for several years and have just watched this video from start to finish several times to try to hopefully understand all the information - it’s been a light bulb ‘Ah-ha’ experience as I’ve been pushing to transfer weight rather than ‘lifting’ to move pressure - also the movement of the knees was a bit of a revelation. It’s given me some ideas to incorporate into my practice - thanks for another excellent video.
Starting the season off by revisiting this video. Game changer. I’m sure I’ll watch this video each spring. Thankyou. Golf in Calgary is so short that I don’t have time to mess this up for a few weeks.
This is something I was able to capture in a bottle for one season. I can't overstate how much of a difference this little bit of what I would describe as a "sway" helped my compression with my irons. I gained a ton of power combined with a far more consistent contact which produced predictable carry differences. My approach differed slightly though in that I started with about 75% of my weight on my front foot. From there, all I needed to do was slightly sway back (a couple inches tops) then through. I swear, I picked up 15 yards with irons at times. Keep in mind, for me, at least, this was for irons only.
This is one of the best videos you have done and the weight transferring was explained very well. And the knee measuring throughout the swing is excellent. Thanks for the info.
Wow, guys, amazing video! I am an AMG+ member, and I've been working with you on iLessons and working my way through the Swing System. I've made great progress so far but still hadn't been able to figure out why my left knee "wheeled out" and my heel pivoted around my toes as Shaun demonstrates here, until you mentioned this on your podcast the other day. I wasn't intentionally trying to spread my knees, but this seems to be happening nonetheless, perhaps from just having too much pressure on my trail foot for too long. I have a Sheftic pressure board and have been working with that, and I think this video will really help my poor brain grasp these concepts. Thanks for continuing to share this great information!
I like the pre shift to the right to start the swing, so you won't to have much weight on your back foot and pressure shifts to the lead foot and leg and hip is turning to the left out of the way to let the arms come through naturally. Being 77 I tried this on the course this week and it worked, it's work in progress and when I when I start low, smooth and slow on the takeaway it works, will keep the practice drills as I am watching golf on tv. Great work as always
Great video!! "Lightening one foot puts pressure into the opposite foot" is a gamechanger for my swing. My weight transfer and rotation were never quite right or coordinated. I'd end up with some weight on my trail foot, or would slide too far to the left to transfer weight. I tried Stack and Tilt, even swinging with my feet and knees together or just standing on my left foot. But I could never really coordinate the weight transfer with proper rotation and swing path. Your comment about lightening the left foot, which I would start doing as I reached the top of my backswing, worked! Everything fell into place. Thanks! (Loved the pressure plate arrows.)
That is crazy!!! You described my swing to a tee! I almost step out with my left foot and therefore weight is very much on my back foot at that moment. I never even realized that! Wow....I have to rebuild my swing....AGAIN!!! I was pushing HARD with my right/trail leg! And yet what you describe is in fact, what I see in pros.
Fair play to the guys at AMG. Most advice from pros (tour pros or teaching pros) is based on their feels. And if I have learned one thing it’s that feel can be very misleading. That’s why these objective, evidence led tutorials are so valuable. The advice may or may not work for an individual, but you can’t argue with the accuracy of the information. Good work guys
This is your best amazing gift to all of us ever blowing away the left knee starting the downswing theory is going ti help many of us every one is promoting this start to the downswing which i have used forever and cant break 50 for 9 my son didn't buy into this idea and is a amazing golfer tks
Great video, great data. If I understand this correctly after takeaway and at club parallel on backswing the majority of pressure is in the trail foot heel, then the re-centering starts and then the pressure is in the lead foot heel by say, start of club changing direction in the downswing? Thanks guys!
You're close🙂 Pressure moves to the trail foot as a whole, not into the trail heel. Then it moves into the front foot before working its way to the front heel around impact.
I'm only to 2:25 of this video and this is GOLD! Having played multiple sports, then trying a centered pivot, now combined with your "re-centering" concept, I'm starting to understand what I'm doing wrong! Way too much right leg late in the backswing leading to EE. Hallelujah! I recommend this one for an Oscar!
Now that I've watched the entire video, this is 5+ stars. Unbelievable insight. 1 clarification - - Do I understand that a golfer doesn't want ANY (or very little) push off the trail leg on the downswing? I think I'm pushing HARD at transition (i.e. at change of direction) which is too late. And is there a good drill?
@@AthleticMotionGolf Wow, that's a HUGE insight and translates into very little lateral force in downswing. That about right? BTW, I've hit my best shots with a "dead" feeling trail leg....
Super useful, very clear. This analysis also seems to me to be consistent with what Dr. Kwon, Director of the Biomechanics Laboratory at Texas Womans University in Denton, is teaching. He also uses the term moment arm in discussing torque forces with his stick figures. Pressure plates have become an important element in swing analysis. I particularly liked the way you show the pressure arrows usually shown only with stick figures outlined against a real body. Also really helpful was your explanation of how to shift pressure to the left leg, not by pushing with the right leg, which simply increases pressure force from that trail leg, but by unweighting the trail leg thereby loading the left leg, which also frees the hips to rotate and the trail knee to come up to the left leg at the finish. I often focus on keeping my trail leg firm to prevent it from bending or swaying to the right on the backswing, and pushing off that leg on the downswing as a pitcher would. But you make it clear that we have to avoid staying to late on that trail leg and need to get it unweighted early with weight, and thus pressure, shifted on to the left leg. Thank you. Will watch over and over.
Awesome , best 16 mins of golf tuition I have seen. I play off 5 and I am still learning.. Guilty of pushing off with my back foot 🫣 . So easy to understand with your model simulation. Just went to the range , Only thought do not push off with your back foot.. Boom 💥 and Guilty of not subscribing 😳.. Done … Thank You 🙏 for posting 😊
Thanks for this information. Extremely eye opening. I've hit loads of golf balls the wrong way, pushing off the back foot shifting weight late knees never getting closer. Back to the drawing board...
Thanks for watching and commenting❤️ you have been randomly selected from comments as winner of today’s giveaway hit me up via the digits above to claim prize.......🎁🎁
This is definitely one of the best AMG videos - physics and dynamic explanation and donuts too ! I sense an indirect critique of Gangas’ technique of pushing off the back foot😉near impact and wheeling the front knee around. To push off the front foot at impact and use the ground best with driver (biggest moment arm), at what position of the swing should max pressure be at the front foot?
Haha bad knee movements have been around long before Instagram. With irons it’s most often at impact. With driver it can be between lead arm parallel and impact.
Today I focused on “mini shifts” back and forward. So basically I reduced my normal range or what I felt was my normal range. The movement improvement I liked best was observing I was getting to my lead side easier (and probably timlier), for sure. Secondly, I think better balance. I was more focused on the shifting than anything else though. 😊 Thank you, as always, for helping us improve our games!
This is going to take a few viewings because there is just so much GREAT information here Guys. Mike and Shaun hit another 'home run'. Thanks Guys. I wish I lived closer, but fortunately GEARS told me there are several in the UK and I'm going tomorrow to for a session. The Coach (Owen) told me on the phone, 'once you've had this, you'll never think or swing the same again'. Here's hoping.
More Amazing information. I always look forward to watching your content. What makes the AMG different, is you are speaking about the golf swing based on fact, backed up by real data that can only be seen and recognized via 3-D, where a lot of the content out there is just “guessing”. Keep the video’s coming👍
Awesome video, as usual. I have two questions. 1. When the weight/pressure is initially moved to the left side, where on the left foot does it "land"? I've heard on the two outside left toes, on the front toe pads, and a few other things. 2. I noticed you didn't bring up the concept of "separation" (hips turning forward during initial movement to the left side, separating from the torso just prior to reaching the top of the backswing). Were you doing it innately, or is it not part of the modern golf swing (moving off the ball, re-centering) that the two of you demonstrate? I'm inclined to think it's the latter. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to hearing your reply.
Okay... this video has blown my mind. I have been swinging all wrong for way too long. What's really annoying is that now that this is being explained to me this way my brain is thinking "duh! of course it works that way." 🤦♂ I have been trying to extend with both legs thinking it would provide more power when in fact it has probably been the main reason my hips move laterally to the target and get "locked out." I've been bingeing your videos for more speed during the winter. Thank you for this.
I took lessons with a pro for awhile. And we went over all these concepts and he sorted this stuff out, but some of it was never explained. It never *clicked*. When things would get off, I wouldn't know why, but I would work the same drills to fix it. Finding this channel was mind blowing in how well it filled in those gaps
Terrific analyses!! I especially like the idea of having a trigger to initiate the backswing. The two players who immediately come to mind with respect to that move are Gary Player and Henrik Stenson. Simple athleticism is a big part of this. For those who are born athletic, they don’t even think twice about it, it just comes naturally. For most recreational golfers, on the other hand, it takes a lot of concentration and practice to be able to consistently incorporate this into their golf swing. That said, if they are able to do it, it’s a game changer.
Thanks for this Shaun. I’ve been working on this concept and I absolutely love where it’s headed. You and Mike are so consistent in your instruction, and your use of evidence sets you apart. Thanks for what you do :)
Is this heaven? No, it’s AMG. This is great stuff that I think has clarified everything nicely. I started really watching your videos three weeks ago. I was late to the party, but I am soaking everything up now. Your podcasts, instagrams, and you tube videos are must see viewing for me. I am a member of the AMG Academy now, and in the future I think AMG +. Two things that might be good future topics are an expanding of the correct delivery position and how to get there and maybe how to get the hands moving quicker in transition. As a fairly recent keep the hands and arms passive at the top golfer, I definitely need some work on the hands and arms. Anyways keep on carrying on.
Great video, one of the most important moves in the golfswing very well explained. In teaching, such an analytical take is good for just a few, though. I guess. And to differentiate weight from pressure is pretty difficult for most, i assume. The task is to find a "feeling" or a picture for a student that leads to the desired positions first (before technical explanations). Ironically i had this move instinctively when i started with golf 3 decades ago - my pro told me too much shift. But we parted anyways because his explanation wasn't sufficient to me. I was always very analytical too, but tools to prove were poor back then. Glad to have found your channell where everything makes so much sense to me - very affirmative information and then also some new stuff for me.
These videos are by far the best in the industry. Congratulations on all your hard work. One question. We often see elite players lift and reposition the lead foot around impact. There is a quick jump or snap of the lead leg at impact where the lead foot is off the ground and moves or slides. Could you explain the phenomenon? Obviously, there is little or no pressure on the lead foot as it repositions. I hope this makes sense. Subject for a follow-up video?
You'll typically see that with driver for some players. It's most often a result of a large peak in their lead foot force early enough to get the foot off the ground as they hit up with the driver.
I am a 2 handicap who hits a pretty big drive yet my mates who dont hit that as far always hit their same irons further than me because I dont use ground force at all. I have had a couple lessons with a couple different coaches but from watching this video I can see that I am definitely a guy who push off his back leg to get forward momentum instead of taking the pressure of that leg. Cannot wait to try it out properly at the range but it feels just right. Thankyou!
AMG dudes, this is 1 of 3 videos that really helped me improve my ball striking. It really made me think. You guys talked about making the trail foot lighter to increase the weight shift to the lead foot/leg. This was a light bulb 💡 moment for me. Now I am hitting the ball better with less scooping. Thank You.
James did you start getting your hell off the ground earlier as well? That’s something i noticed pros do that i wasn’t. My heel was hardly off the ground at impact Xander is all the way on the tip of his toe at impact.
I was looking at the tilt and stack method swing when i came across this. The que at the beginning that was displayed help me with the weight shift immensely in practice swings. I was not getting very consistent "skim contact" with my mat but with this I am now. I will need to test this out at the range. My main issue right now is consistent contact, I typically thin or top the ball. I will sometimes get a solid hit and a small divot. But not often on the course, but i can get into a good Rythm at times on the range. Hopefully this will be the nail in the coffin for me! and get me golfing better!
Great video, thanks. But it may be a little hard to follow and put-into-action for intermediate golfers. I've been able to implove ball contact, direction and distance by focusing on both keeping the trail elbow tucked into my ribcage and rapid hip rotation beginning when the backswing starts to decend. That helps everything else fall into place for me.
Best way iv heard this explained period! I love the game of golf and struggled with this aspect since day one! Thanks taking the time to explain things in AMAZING DETAIL!
Is a little trail heel lift before starting the backswing a functional trigger move to get the weight shift started dynamically and correctly? A smaller version of the Berkshire move basically.
2:05 Resonates quite a bit for me just based off feeling. I also can feel that "hip launch" that Shaun mentions happen. I've been contemplating my swing lately as I also feel that I don't rotate on the downswing enough and feel like I'm stalling and letting the golf club momentum finish my turn if that makes sense.
At 8:47 , you made a comment about hips turning . The simple fact is that rotation of the hips involve rotation of the head of the femur within the hip joint . And because the other end of the femur forms the knee joint , the knee must also rotate on the same manner as the head of the femur , thus causing the lead knee to separate from the trail knee
Question for you. By not performing the early trigger, and not allowing the proper pressure shift, could it lead to casting because of over swing. I do like the explanations you guys give. Your communication is excellent.
Would rolling the right foot/ankle inward on the downswing help in moving pressure to the left leg? I get feeling it would lighten the right leg. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
hi mike and shaun - love your videos - greatly appreciated - i saw a video that you post but can't find it anymore that shows how the camera angle (dtl) can greatly distort how the club looks like it is coming way from in the inside and being overly shallow - any chance you can link it here ? thanks kindly
Putting all the weight and pressure shift myths to bed, coupled with outstanding analysis. I also love the debunking of that crazy, signature George Gankas move (without ever mentioning his name). Very well done. Once again, this video is evidence why AMG has the best golf instructional content on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing. 👊👊
Thank you so much for this. Question: Does the same principle apply to the driver swing? There’s more tilt at address and the feet are wider apart - so from takeaway to the top of my backswing, I feel that I’m staying “forever” on my trail leg simply because the arc of the swing going back is wider; plus I turn my shoulders like crazy at the top of my backswing that I feel so lost and stuck at initiating the downswing. I’m trying to apply the same principle of taking pressure off the trail leg (iron swing is not a problem), but it’s either I’m not putting a lot of pressure to the lead leg or it’s a timing issue. Or third, I’m lost with the hand path, too, in all the mix.
I keep coming back to this video as I am really working on the correct pressure shifts. Question that is related to this video is as you are fallling to the front foot is it ok to start rotating during that time? I saw it suggested that we should work on getting a head start with opening the hips earlier as your hands are still going back. Do you see this in your analysis of Professionals?
If you move your mass into the trail foot during the take away/backswing, some percentage, then the time to get that mass moving in the direction of the target will increase for any given 'lightening' of the front foot. (If you're 50/50 and lighten the front, the fall is immediate.) This variable of time has to be timed with the overall speed/tempo of the coiling body and swinging arms. If you get to a point where 80% of your mass is supported by your back trail foot, then a lightening of the front foot is going to take a longer time to get that mass moving toward target again (that re-centering feeling) -- unless! -- -unless you push with the trail foot at some point. Should we try to get the feeling that we don't push with that trail foot at all? At any point? Is it true that any trail foot/leg extension activation to "re-center" or get the mass moving target-ward is detrimental?
How I didn’t get this channel sooner but glad I’m here, I thought I was a good ball striker/golfer hitting my 7 iron 160-165 yds, took these lessons put some time in and now hitting my 7 iron 185-190 - now I’m hitting my 5 iron where I was using 3 hybrid before. Just unreal instruction and what a great way to make these lessons relatable
Fantastic stuff. Really eye-opening deep dive. Bravo. I would love to see pros versus ams on this force plate. Question: you mentioned pushing down increases pressure. Do you see the left leg actively pushing down to generate pressure? Or do you see the left leg simply accepting the overall pressure of the body as the right side lightens up?
im 32 and only just through actually have a good coach learning about swing mechanics. The frustrating thing is not that I am finding out now, its that I am trying to undo a decade of bad habits!! this is amazing content!
@@AthleticMotionGolf no worries, more people should see this! UPdate...just back from the range and I'm just not getting it :s do my drill 100s of times, I can move correctly in slow mo but can't get my body to move right way when i swing, which then buggers my back! I watch it on the camera and can see it, but can't undo it 😅 aaaargh
I have a question about the weight shift that was not mentioned in the video. Apart from the transfer in weight from one foot to the other, is their also an increase in pressure during any point in the swing? Is there a point when the weight on either foot changes from simply a weight shift to pushing off the ground?
I love this channel. You guys are breaking down so many myths that have been around for such a long time. I'd bet a lot of gimmick instructors hate you. Keep up the good work!

This is the best video on weight, pressure and the swing anywhere! wish I knew this 10years ago. Thanks Mike -Sean you guys are the best.
Thank you!!!
Thanks
So glad it helped 👍🏻🏌🏿♂️
The pros at AMG continue to give us GOLD! Rewatch this video and start to reboot your concepts about how to develop speed. I have been enjoying progress with AMG throughout this year. It was very difficult for me to play tournaments and play and practice 3 days in a row due to hip pain from launching through the ball. The Weight and Pressure Series and the Speed System has me playing nearly pain free as I have reduced the Slide and replaced it with a Turn and Burn!
Turn and Burn Baby! That launch through the ball is a back/hip killer. Glad to hear you're enjoying the System🙌
Love hearing this is helping. Stay safe and dry down there!
My miss is the 30 yard push , I hope this helps me too
I've seen a million golf advice videos, and this is the most important one by far
This is by far the best content when it comes to "golf improvement" on UA-cam.
Thanks for the kind words, brother 🙏
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
I’ve been doing the AMG + for over a year. Best $ I’ve ever spent. Originally signed up because I felt guilty consuming all their content that is free on UA-cam and Instagram and not having to pay anything for it. AMG + takes everything to a whole new level with much more structure and a little guidance from the guys along the way. Wish I had this 20 years ago as I was beginning my golf career. Highly recommend!
Wow, thanks for the kind words! We love hearing you’re enjoying being part of the AMG family! 🙏🏻👊
👍🏻👍🏻🏌🏿♂️
This video just helped me figure out where I’ve been going wrong for the last 20 years. Completely changed how I view the swing. Thank you so much.
I’ve been subscribed to AMG for several years and have just watched this video from start to finish several times to try to hopefully understand all the information - it’s been a light bulb
‘Ah-ha’ experience as I’ve been pushing to transfer weight rather than ‘lifting’ to move pressure - also the movement of the knees was a bit of a revelation.
Your video definitely earns my like. Top top analysis on weight transfer and correct all the misconceptions I have in the past.
Great!!!
Awesome job 👏
This content is unreal guys! So clear and easy to understand with the visuals.
Awesome, we hope it helps!
@@AthleticMotionGolf I can say I've been an AMG+ member, content consumer, and seen Mike and Shaun in person, there's no one better for your game
That’s awesome! Glad to hear it helped 👊
… I meant lightening the right foot, not the left…
@@alnickerson2525 ya got me wondering for a sec…
Amazing use of real time data that you can’t see but definitely feel.
One of the best videos you, AMG, have created, and probably the best golf video on the pressure topic. Well done and thanks.
Thank you!
Yep not good.
This is the best explanation-demonstration of both the what and the how I have ever seen. Great work guys.
Thanks brother🙏🏻👊
BTW, looks like this explains Scheffler's trail foot move - - no push, but definitely lightening up the trail leg.
@@KH-rh7yq the push of trail leg is in backswing
@@AthleticMotionGolf Wow, that's a HUGE insight and translates into very little lateral force in downswing. That about right? BTW, I've hit my best shots with a "dead" feeling trail leg....
@@KH-rh7yq you got it👍
Super useful, very clear.
Awesome. Sounds like you have a great understanding of what to work on 👏
Awesome , best 16 mins of golf tuition I have seen. I play off 5 and I am still learning.. Guilty of pushing off with my back foot 🫣 . So easy to understand with your model simulation.
Wow… that jump analogy just unlocked something. Brilliant!
Here's hoping.
haha Coach Owen is right!
This is a far better UA-cam channel than most. Biomechanics are king! Good stuff.

This one video changed my golf swing forever...thanks a million guys .
More Amazing information. I always look forward to watching your content. What makes the AMG different, is you are speaking about the golf swing based on fact, backed up by real data that can only be seen and recognized via 3-D, where a lot of the content out there is just “guessing”.
Keep the video’s coming👍
Thanks for the kind words! Keep that progress rolling👊
By far the best I gave ever heard this explained. great job guys...
Thanks again gentlemen. Your videos are the most informative on UA-cam.
Hands down, best golf channel on UA-cam. Show me the data!
We appreciate the kind words!
So happy to have you! Get in amg plus!!! We would love to have you in there and meet you in the forum !!
Which of the pressure plates do you guys use? Do you recommend any in particular or are they all generally pretty good?
We use the dual plate system from Gasp Labs. The plates are excellent and Gasp has great customer support.
Great explanations. Thanks. Like the trigger move on the start.
Yes, they push so hard off the lead leg with Driver that they launch (jump).
Thankyou!
Excellent explanation of weight vs pressure . Good job .
Thank you!!!!!!
This is great. I like how AMG focuses on recentering and this has been game changing for me, but this video really crystalized my understanding.
Great!!!!!!
Thank You.
Awesome job! 👏. The standard is 3% of all on-course winnings… we do accept Venmo or 🌮🌮🌮 as payment 😜
Excellent analysis!! Now I have to work on it! Thanks guys!!
Thank you. Get to work 😄
Great idea! Link to the whole video please??
Great video, thanks. But it may be a little hard to follow and put-into-action for intermediate golfers. I've been able to implove ball contact, direction and distance by focusing on both keeping the trail elbow tucked into my ribcage and rapid hip rotation beginning when the backswing starts to decend. That helps everything else fall into place for me.
Wow, the best explanation of how to move correctly in your golf swing.
Sure can 👍
2:05 Resonates quite a bit for me just based off feeling. I also can feel that "hip launch" that Shaun mentions happen. I've been contemplating my swing lately as I also feel that I don't rotate on the downswing enough and feel like I'm stalling and letting the golf club momentum finish my turn if that makes sense.
It makes complete sense
At 8:47 , you made a comment about hips turning . The simple fact is that rotation of the hips involve rotation of the head of the femur within the hip joint . And because the other end of the femur forms the knee joint , the knee must also rotate on the same manner as the head of the femur , thus causing the lead knee to separate from the trail knee
The pelvis and both femurs have independent ranges of motion making your "simple fact" scenario simply incorrect.
Were miles ahead of you on this buddy. Relax and enjoy the video :)
Question for you. By not performing the early trigger, and not allowing the proper pressure shift, could it lead to casting because of over swing. I do like the explanations you guys give. Your communication is excellent.
It sure could 👍
Would rolling the right foot/ankle inward on the downswing help in moving pressure to the left leg?
Yeah I literally watched his videos the other day and then saw this. It's the exact opposite, haha.
I discovered the same trigger to start my swing on the range recently. It was total game changer.
You have to be recentered before you turn hip.
If you move your mass into the trail foot during the take away/backswing, some percentage, then the time to get that mass moving in the direction of the target will increase for any given
'lightening' of the front foot.
By far the beat video of yours I have seen so far. You nailed it.
Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching!

Just unreal instruction and what a great way to make these lessons relatable
funny I thought it was where it ended up that mattered
Fantastic stuff. Really eye-opening deep dive. Bravo. I would love to see pros versus ams on this force plate.
Question: you mentioned pushing down increases pressure. Do you see the left leg actively pushing down to generate pressure? Or do you see the left leg simply accepting the overall pressure of the body as the right side lightens up?
Great question. The answer is both. Pushing down can increase the ground forces under that foot.

I watch it on the camera and can see it, but can't undo it 😅 aaaargh
@@Spotofgardening lots of slow speed reps, slow enough to do it right, is the ticket. The speed will come as a result of doing it better👊😉
I love your analysis....it all makes so much sense, and I'm looking forward to trying to incorporate these concepts into my swing!
I have been to see Mike in Carterville and had one of the best golf days of my life- what Mike talks about works
I can’t wait to go back
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely golden! Thanx a lot, very helpful!
The excellent film I had ever watched till now.
I have a question about the weight shift that was not mentioned in the video. Apart from the transfer in weight from one foot to the other, is their also an increase in pressure during any point in the swing? Is there a point when the weight on either foot changes from simply a weight shift to pushing off the ground?
Fantastic video showed me a lot about weight transfer
Love it!
Awesome explanation on weight shifting.
I love this channel. You guys are breaking down so many myths that have been around for such a long time. I'd bet a lot of gimmick instructors hate you. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!🙏🏻 we’re definitely not popular in certain circles 😊
