Not sure what they cost in your neck of the woods but a lower timing cover where I’m at is around 400.00 for a new one

Looking forward to your catch can video, and would love to hear your thought on using one in the winter in freezing temps. Have heard that can be a problem with lines freezing up.

Thanks for the video. It's a great help. I need to change my crankshaft pulley.

So I've changed my front crank seal twice now, and both times it leaks......then I found out, these seals are PTFE seals and need to be installed DRY and left for 4 hours. Third attempt dry and no more leak.
Lesson learned, read the instructions from the seal manufacturer. It actually states, any lubricant will cause it to leak almost immediately. DO NOT PUT LUBRICANT ON THE SEAL!!

I never knew it had instructions for dry install, I’ve never had one leak after install and rarely have seen one leak at all. It does have a special tool to insert inside the seal and bolt it down with the crankshaft bolt to set it in flush without crushing the seal lip though.

@@NaptownTuner It's strange, contrary to most other seals. I stumbled on the instructions when I was throwing out the box for the lower timing cover from ELRING. Then I started searching and all the manufacturers say the same thing, must be installed DRY and left for 4 hours.
      I was so frustrated lol

What do you think about the aftermarket crankshaft pulleys, like the fluiddamper or cts, ecs lightweight weight versions?

Did the seal you replaced fix an oil leak that was throwing oil ? I have been attempting to fix an oil leak on my 2013 B8 … I have replaced the valve cover gasket , vacuum pump , fuel pump . The next thing I want to get into fixing is the turbo oil lines .. would u have any suggestions?

When swapping transmissions in b8 a4s, do you need to get transmission coded by ODIS? Is the tcm affected by the component protection?
