Man, I've only watch 1 1/2 of your videos so far, but it is just so refreshing to see such a well thought out, well put together video. Your way of doing things some folks might miss, but seeing the care that you put into the little things; replacing nuts/bolts after removing them to make sure they don't get lost, slightly breaking loose all the bolts on a component before removing all of them, using a screwdriver to break the hose seals, the little captions that tell you the bolt/nut/screw size, actually wearing gloves 😂just bravo. You're a true master. Thank you.
I appreciate you taking the time out to acknowledge my work. Yea, I do put a lot of effort into making these videos, but not everyone notices. Much respect and thanks for watching!
I’ve done some less major work on cars before. Nothing ever this intense.
This video gave me the confidence to start taking my b7 apart tonight!
Thanks for the amazing video! Especially the links to parts and tools!
Great job, I really liked that you gave the torque settings for the bolts
You're a blessing man I hope you realize the amount of money you save people showing them how to do some of these jobs keep up the great work God bless you
Thanks for acknowledging my work. Yea, my goal is to help others with fixing and maintaining their car.
Another ace demo. Previously thought this was too big a job for me, but you've showed me I could actually do it. Inspiring! Cheers dude.
I'm happy you got value from this. Yea, it's a lot of steps but definitely doable if you're willing to take it on. Goodluck on your project and thanks for watching.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds hello my friend i have a audi a4 2.0t 2006 he have a grinding noise .the bad water bad he have a bad noise idont have overheating problem
Superb video, thank you so much! It's been about 10 years since I did the timing belt on a V6 Mitsubishi, so your video is just what I needed to help me tackle my 2006 Audi 2.0 BPG turbo. Keep up the great work, please... You know what helps the people that comment but you also know or should know that there are many people who it helps that don't make a comment! Thanks again! David
Much respect! I'm happy you found this video helpful. For sure, I have a lot of projects in the making and a lot more planned. Yea true, not everyone who gets help make comment. Thanks for acknowledging my work!
Very good video I agree. I’ve never done timing before on an audi but you set my mind at ease with this. Great job!!!!
Excellent video, very detailed and informative. With ur videos, a lot of guys and some girls that work on cars are going to save tons of money.
Thanks for this awesome video. I still have my old B6 in possession after 16 years. It's now 18 years old. Although I own a RS5 I still use my old B6 as my daily. I have a Continental beltkit laying around here for a couple of years, I delay it everytime but now, I'm convinced, I'm going to work ;) I have 2.0 FSI without the Turbo so less parts ;)
Thanks! Yea, definitely get the new belt on sooner than later.
Absolutely brilliant video I have a 1.8 cabriolet and a 2.0 A4 Avant Quattro I will be saving a lot of money. Your videos are top class and well illustrated.
Pal this video is very educational ,knowledge is a gift of God you blessed brother skilled hands and u shared this knowledge to me u are a legend ,iv done my b7 cambelt service and every bit of your know how has worked for me I can't thank u enuf but u can sure count on been in my daily prayer ,you are a guru of audi ,agents and some machanics change a high rate u have save me time and money much appreciate it brother ,❤❤❤❤
I literally just had my timing chain replaced! Too big of a job for me. Great work sir!
Thank you! Yea, timing is one of the more challenging jobs. You did the right thing if your not up for it, you can damage the engine if not done correctly.
Excellent video bro. My audi has been sitting for a yr. But now I'm back in business. Thanks!
I'm happy you were able to fix your Audi and get it back up and running again!
Good work! Straight to the point ☝️
Really nice walk through on the procedure. Thanks
Much respect!
God this was blowing my mind on what was leaking coolant but it was the freicken water pump you are a baddass thank you
I was very impressed that you did not remove the full core support. I had b5 S4 bi turbo, and that was like step one. Remove front of Audi. Now I have b7 A4. I was never brave enough to do the timing belt for my b5, I am very confident to do this on my b7. Thank you for the video. This has helped me brush off the dust of my Audi knowledge. I have been rebuilding Wrx STI for a bit. I am now hopefully more experienced.
Yea, completely removing the radiator support is not needed. They way I did it was more than enough space to work with. Thanks for watching!
I have mine completely off right now on my A4 B7, it just feels like I can get up closer to the engine and not damage the radiator or AC condenser
I have stripped my A4 B7 2,0T BUL engine today to do an oil pump mod. Your video helped me immensely.
I'm happy you found my video helpful, thanks for watching!
I did the VIS balance shaft delete on mine
Me and the boys weekend job! This video is perfecto 💯💪🏾
Respect! Good luck with the replacement.
Thank you sir!! Ill be doing this job tomorrow on a car im about to pick up, ive done it before on the b5, glad its almost the same process🙏🙏
Good luck on the install, thanks for watching!
Thanks SO much! I’m doing my belt this week ( I have done them on a1.8t before) on my 2.0t. This from start to finish was outstanding.
Much respect, I'm happy you found this video helpful!
Excellent video a mechanic who knows what's he's doing. 👌
Much respect and thanks for watching!
Need to see how to set a tensioner for a BPY timing belt????
Let's head over to Crafty I bet he's got one.... Sure enough. haha. Here I am again man. Thank you!
Haha. Yea, I got you. Come on over, Lol much respect!
Great video and to the point.
Just noticed that you may consider changing out your engine snub mount. Seems to be well worn. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
Much respect! Yea, that mount definitely was worn and needed to be replace, at the time when I made the video, Lol. I got alot more projects coming.
You are a superb teacher. Thank you so very much.
I'm happy you found this video helpful, respect!
Excellent, good photography, thanks.
Much respect, thanks for watching!
Big thanks! Really appreciate this.
I'm happy you got value from this!
I really wish you lived in my area. I need this!! It’s hard to find a skilled mechanic that works on Audi in my area
Very good, quality content. i learned a lot. Thanks.
I'm happy you you were able to learn from this video, much respect!
Thank u my brother for d important information it was edifying. Knowledge is power. Another DIY strategy. Praises👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Much respect! I'm happy you found this video helpful.
Great as always.
I'd put a new anti torque snub mount on though. That one's shot.
Thanks! I already replaced it, but not in the video
great video Sir - thanks . you've saved a lot of people some money.
Thanks! Yea, my goal is to help as much as possible.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds NO joke on saving money, had a shop quote me for $2,800. I've done several timing belts and was like no way this is gonna cost $2,800. After watching the vide im gonna save me some dough and just do it myself. I owe you a beer man
Perfect video man , Thanks 💪
Much respect 💪🏾
great stuff....a pretty in depth job.

Excellent job.

Thank you for this, maybe ill find courage to swap my water pump after watching this..
Once you have the confidence and tools, you'll be good to go.
Great video, I plan on tackling this job soon, do you happen to have list of torque specs? Thanks again for the video, its straight to the point and nicely edited!
Brilliant. Thank you.

Awesome job bro.....

very well explained and a very good video production. Better than Mst.

Hi, my friend. Where do you live? I have a same car, same Audi, and through watching your videos, I actually learned lots from you.
Maybe you somewhere in Miami, one day, let me know please, I would be grateful to meet you!
Thanks for the video... Looking to buy a B7 but it seems very difficult to do the timing belt... How much would this cost to DIY vs taking it to a shop?
thank you soooo much
I'm happy you got value from this video, thanks for watching.
Very good
Much respect
Awesome!
Thanks!
hay thanks for the help with the last question i found the leak was from the rear coolant flange, so my new question about the timing tensioner i added a new water pump set but the tensioner came loose i need to remove but some how the bolt holding it just spins would you know what i can do as i have to remove this and now do some major work. any help would be great-full
I'm considering in getting B7, your videos are a gold mine for servicing it. Thank you for these videos, I think I'm going to visit your channel pretty often.
BTW, since the old waterpump was plastic and the new one is metal. Is this something you should pick over the OEM?
I'm happy you are able to get value from my content, thanks for watching!
The plastic one is less durable, but less likely to damage the engine if it fails. The metal one is more durable, but it's more likey to damage the engine if it fails. Some companies claimed that the metal one is an upgrade. I've installed both, with no issues afterwards so far.
What size are the blue caps for the coolant plugs?
Been checking out videos on your channel, and man you describe and film everything so neat, thanks for all the help! More audi b7 vids if possible please 😀 thumbs up and subscribed
Thanks for checking out my videos! Yea, I definitely got more audi content on the way.
Great !
Thanks!
Hi, awesome video! Is that BWE motor or BGB?
Great job nice camera work I'm thinking about buying an Audi that needs a timing belt replacement I was wondering does it hurt the valves if the engine was turned over with the bad timing belt thanks a lot bro
Much respect! If only the timing belt is bad, it shouldn't hurt the valves.
Awesome video! I’ve got a quick question. I did this repair exactly as you did in the video, however now my car idles a little rough and throws code p0016 (camshaft sensor out of alignment). Got any suggestions on how to go about fixing this? Thanks again. I wouldn’t have purchased my Audi if it wasn’t for all of your detailed maintenance videos.
looks like you did the timing wrong. its important to get everything lined up perfectly otherwise the cycle will be out of sync and misfire..
Torque setting for crank pulley and hex bolts?
Excellent video 🙏🙏 thank you so much!! Could you tell me the Water Pump Brand Name that you used as a replacement. Reason I'm asking is because they're offering me 2 brands. Meyle and Trucktec which of these 2 do you think is the best one to buy that lasts longer?
There is links in the description to the specific parts that I've used for this replacement. But I've used Meyle before.
No wonder Audi's are expensive to maintain if you are not repairing it yourself. Kudos bro.
Much respect 🙏
Hi, at time 3:00 what's that component looking like a small evaporator coil? Thanks
Great video, thank you. Can the TDC be located without taking valve cover off?
Yes, it can. I said it's not necessary to take it off in the video.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds thank you for getting back and confirming that. My apologies, I was watching video in a loud environment and didn’t quite hear that part. Thank you again for an awesome video 🙏🙏🙏
Did you disconnect the battery before you started? Awesome video!! Cheers Phil
Nah, I didn't. But you can if you want to. Much respect Phil!
Amazing video, one question wich Brand is that eléctric/Torque screw driver? Saludos
Thanks! The link is in the description.
How did you block the camshaft?
Great video!
What do you mean?
I need your help!!! I put the marks in the same way but don't start
Hey! I've never worked on a car (aside from fixing the radio fuse), but I have an Audi A4 2006 convertible with the only current issue being the water pump, and a transmission control module a little bit down the line. Mechanics have quoted $1400+ for the water pump but this fix really doesn't look that hard, is that a legitimate fix price? Also is this something I should even consider having not worked a car before? It'd be nice to get it done but I don't want to mess up the car worse.
Yea, I would not suggest doing this kind of repair if you've never worked on cars before. This is an advance repair eventhough it doesn't look hard.
If the timing is not done correctly it can damage the engine internals.
I had to get a valve job on my B7 engine and the machine shop that performed the job didn't have the specs to set the camshaft back so they would be at TDC. Do you have a video for that or any guidance you can provide, before I put the head back on (don't want to bend another valve).....
You'll need the camshaft locking tool to lock the cams in place, set the timing on the small chain on the back of the engine, then set the timing on the timing belt.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds thanks!!! Wish you were in Texas, I would just pay you to do it!! Lmao
Buongiorno e per impostare il nuovo intervallo del service come bisogna fare?Dopo l'azzeramento se premo il pulsante con la chiave accanto ai giorni e km mi appaiono tre linee
Hay I have a question about the thermostat assembly, would it also leak under the engine, as I just changed the water pump thanks to your video, but I have a small leak only when the car is parking at work. any advise will help thanks
Yes, it is possible for the thermostat to leak coolant and it will eventually end up under the car. There is an O-ring on the thermostat that's prone to leaking. But definitely look over your work and make sure it's not leaking from the water pump that you recently installed. Otherwise you can jack the car up and let it idle for a while, then try to trace where the leak is coming from.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds noted as this leak was before and still after the water pump installation, even took it to a shop to do a pressure test and nothing I guess the thermostat leaks when the car stops and leaks very slow. will try to change it and see what happens. thanks again for your help
How long does it take how much does a real mechanical cost like you for this job
In Trinidad thats about 3,500 to 4,000 dollars.
I have a strong leak of coolant from the crankshaft pulley on my 2005 Audi A4 2.0t, does this mean that it is the water pump?
Yes, I would change that and inspect for cracks in the head
Wow, that's a lot of steps.
👍🏼
What are the blue plugs you used to block the hose
They came as pack plugs on a new fuel line that I ordered, and I kept them.
And how much would you charge to do that ?
what tool are you using to rotate the engine?
I used a 12point socket and a 1/2 drive ratchet
How much you need to replace those belt bro
Does anyone know of a mechanic in Riverside California that would help me out with this exact issue my car has is so plz reply
How many hours does this job take ? The bumper seems to be half the job .
If you're doing it for the first time, expect for it to take longer. It will take a couple hours though. Yea, once the car is in service position it's a straight shot.
Good video but i tried doing this and i did everything right but my car is still acting up can someone help me out? 😭
The top didn't look like it aligned with the white mark like the bottom did, is that normal?
If you put alignment marks like I did, after you install the new belt the alignment marks should line up the same as when the old belt was on. if it's not the same, you should remove the belt and reinstall it to line up with the marks.
Why do you put the screw driver in the cylinders?
The screw driver helps me to identify if the pistons are on the down stroke or the up stroke, and that's what I'll use to set the engine to top dead center.
Why did u roate the timing belt before u made ur marks?
To set the engine at "TDC" top dead center.
gj
👍🏽
I hate how I had to go out and buy a torx set to remove most of these bolts
What if the timing belt got cut before replacing it
Explain the situation, I'm not sure what you mean by cut.
where's the water pump from?
Link in the description, for the parts that I used.
Don’t you need to lock the timing in any way?
Did you watch the entire video?
Quick question, just wondering how you fix timing if you turn it and for some reason it doesn't line up?
You take the belt off, reset the camshaft & crankshaft to the marks, reinstall the belt, then check again.
Looks easy but it is quite a bit of work
Yea, this kinda work is more advanced.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds how often do you personally prefer to replace timing belt And cam followers?
Do you have a video for diverter valve too?
This job is so much easier on my mk5 jetta with the same motor.
you know I bought a compression tool to get it to tdc and now I feel dumb because screwdriver...
Hi. Could u share the water pump link. Please
I just added the link in the description.
