    When my son developed multiple allergies at a very young age, I went down the rabbit hole of nutrition. I never went to school for it, but instead learned a had a thing for studying biology and understanding how the body functions. I’m a bit nerdy that way. It’s been an interesting journey and along that journey, I learned about how industrial food production took place, how marketing affects the public and sadly the medical advice sometimes regarding food, what is in our food, and how to prepare food in the most nutritionally advantageous ways. It’s ended up culminating in growing a large proportion of our food, and some of the traditional ways to prepare/preserve it for maximum nutrition. This has led to a pretty healthy family. Not perfect by any means, but I’d wager far healthier than average.I truly wish that more people understood how critical diet is to health! I think our communities would be far healthier and able to ward off disease and metabolic disorders.

    Could you do a video on the topic of COVID Infection being the fault of unvaccinated? While this is likely true for those with comorbidities, I believe governing agencies are using this narrative incorrectly, as there is a known percentage of the population that are metabolically healthy. We should not be pressured into taking these vaccines. We should be able to have our physician sign-off that we have successfully passed this 6 category evaluation and do not require a vaccine because we too are helping establish herd immunity. I believe this is actually the highest state of protection our society has against this virus as well as the most common causes of death.

    I am floored that only 12% of people were considered metabolically healthy. Before you brought up that slide, after looking at all 6 metrics, I was thinking to myself that the bar was set "low"... I am not bragging, nor do I feel that I am even close to the pinnacle of health, but wow, these metrics are easy to hit (speaking as someone in their 40s) if you take care of your diet and exercise (assuming there is not some underlying disease). I guess I am just floored at how unhealthy the population is in general.

      The American dietary advice of the last 60 years has been exactly backwards, or perhaps up-side-down if you consider the Food Pyramid. Remove the oils from the top of the pyramid, then rotate the rest 180 degrees. That is what the pyramid should be. You can thank Keys and Kellogg for the state of current health, or lack thereof.
      Sufficient vitamin D is key to surviving the current virus. High fructose corn syrup negatively affects vitamin D. Vitamin C may also be important; insulin blocks vitamin C. Of course, High Fructose corn syrup increases insulin.

I have read and heard on videos these criteria, they seem to be worthy of attention.

      Not so sure about that... I have a small waist relative to my hip size. I'm a black male and have always been this way, even when I was a lanky teenager. In my 20s I started working out with weights and my legs and buttocks have become quite muscular while my waist has remained proportionately much smaller. It makes buying pants that fit so much harder! I usually have to buy pants 2 or 3 sizes bigger than my waist just so they fit my legs and butt. I have to buy cheaper pants so I can afford to have them tailored at the waist to fit! I don't even wear jeans anymore...

      @@iseektruth64 but that's good. The ratio of waist to hips in your case would be even better, more safe. Waist/hip 0.9 means wsist should be at least 10% slimmer than hips. So if hips are 40 waist should be no more than 36. Waist/hip ratio of this is 0.9. If hips become bigger, 44, and waist remains 36 then waist/hip ratio becomes 0.81 which is less than 0.9, hence better.

I started eating lean chicken (locally farm raised) and noticed a big difference. Animal products are extremely good for you if you choose dairy from grass fed cows, or purchasing your meat from local farmers where they were fed a natural diet and humanely treated.

      @@GenXer333 you are wrong dude. You can maybe get a bit protein deficient at first but you can manage your protein intake through proper plants that provide more of it. Other than that shifting from animal based diet is easy and healthy. I had many blockages earlier but when i started vegetarian diet and just milk from a farm bred cow my life changed drastically. I feel better, more energetic, i am free of all problems that i had earlier. You can think whatever you want but it is my life experience.

    Though it was not this way at the beginning of the pandemic, I feel we now are in a syndemic where the co-morbidities themselves are the driving factor and the virus is being the lessor opportunistic factor in the situation.

    • @haroldwilkes6608
      @haroldwilkes6608 4 роки тому +4

      Thanks for the appropriate word, syndemic - the aggregation of two or more concurrent or sequential epidemics or disease clusters in a population with biological interactions, which exacerbate the prognosis and burden of disease. I fully agree. Another doctor said that you could die "of" Covid or "with" Covid - major difference.

    I'm wondering if resting heart rate is another differentiator between healthy and unhealthy?

    • @MedicinewithDrMoran
      @MedicinewithDrMoran  3 роки тому +2

      It is not. There is a large range in what a normal resting heart rate is which is between 48-92 bpm in one large older study. While it is true that people in good physical shape tend to have heart rates in the high 40s and 50s there are many people who are not athletic with heart rates in this range also. In general, as we age our heart rates do tend to go slower.

I have nodules and a goiter (they were saying Hashimoto's), but endocrinologist refuses to help. I have nearly all symptoms of hypothyroidism (runs in my family with the females big time!), but because of the labs saying I'm still in normal range (barely), these awful symptoms continue.

      you can if you are willing to completely turn your life around. Watch “satvic movement thyroid” video, it must have english subtitles. If you are able to follow that lifestyle, along with Pranayama everyday (21 times Ujjayi Pranayama which is most important, 10 minutes of Kapalbhati, 10 minutes of Anulom vilom. search all these on youtube. that will be the beginning of your efforts to cure yourself.) initially you will find it difficult to perform Ujjayi Pranayama, but you have to keep at it. your throat muscles will take time to grow strong enough to not immediately cough while doing it. but if you keep at it for 4-5 days you will be easily doing it 11 times by the end of the first week. then slowly you take it to 21 times. Ujjayi pranayama alone heals 70% of your problem. that with the other two pranayamas, and the satvic movement diet will 100% cure you. if you dont get lazy that is. if you dont miss the pranayama a single day. if you make healing yourself yournumber one priority, you will. thanks.

    Whenever I hear checklists like this, I think about people like my grandfather. He was obese, had high blood pressure, fatty liver, smoked. He might have had diabetes and probably had high cholesterol, but it was so hard to get him to a doctor, we never knew. But you never would have known he had issues until the last year or so of his life, when he suddenly had a heart attack and died. I have to wonder, if he had weighed less, stopped smoking, gotten his pressure down, etc., would he have lived longer? He was a tough old bird, because as it was, he died at age 80. Maybe he would have made it to 100.

    My granny ate simple and kept slim and lived over ninety but some people ate very well but had a shorter life span. I have heart blockage, high bp, digestion problem, circulation problem, rhinitis, don't sleep well, poor eyesight, was anemic had bad migraine when I was in my teen, bad skin allergies etc. Skinny n do not have good appetites. Thought I would die soon due to serious asthmatic condition. With proper diet, the condition improved and still managing. Skinny but feeling better. Used to be on many types of medications after many operations but with proper diet, emotion management,, through readings on how to improve health, things improved though a slow process, still have asthma on reduced degree high BP, heart blockage sleep problem etc and still on some prescribed medication for some of the conditions. Prayers helps too especially for asthma, narrowed esophagus and digestion. Avoid watching or listening to videos which will aggravate your condition including Christian Videos, not all of them are good though they may think that they are good and they hear from God. Some can be detrimental to your health, condition and spirit. There are some very good ones too. Keep safe everyone. God bless.

    I'm 51 years old. 5'10" and 180 lbs with a 34" waist. I do not take medication. My blood pressure is normal, my triglycerides are ideal, my HDL is normal, and my A1C is 5.2. Now... lets add that when covid started, I was working in a jail where it went rampant. Inmates had it, deputies had it, nurses had it one deputy died. My partners got it and one had mild symptoms while the other only lost his sense of smell. We shared an office, desk, computer, etc... I did not get it. I've tested negative for it and the antibody test showed I never had it. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE if what they tell us is true??

    Something interesting I had been reading about was that long-term exposure to traffic noise may be associated with greater waist circumference due to secretion of cortisol, and preschoolers who play/live on noisy streets have higher blood pressures at baseline. I am sorry I can’t remember the name of these studies or link to them. But, I found from these studies that changing living environment may mildly to moderately impact health and should be considered as well as individual lifestyle changes.
