It would be great to see the cats sometime. We miss them!
My family adopted an 8 week-old black Maine Coon Cat kitten a few months ago from a kill shelter in rural Kentucky USA. It is a total mystery where he came from. We paid $30 (thirty) dollars for him with a free neutering done recently. What an incredible stroke of luck and a great bargain. He is gorgeous and now I understand why people love this breed so much. His fur feels like silk. I would gladly pay the thousands of dollars they go for here, now that we understand how incredibly special these gentle giants really are.

Hi Dr Moran and thanks for all your info and videos. I Just wanted to ask in all seriousness if you don't mind?, clearing up some confusion, In regards to the cardiovascular side of things? Whats the difference on the body/heart between Paracetamol and Aspirin? I ask because we generally tend to use Paracetamol/Ibuprofen (headache/general pain/ailments/hangovers etc...) over Aspirin this side of the pond here in Ireland/EU (its generally discouraged/not mentioned with regards to the Paracetamol/Ibuprofen combo). This aside, Aspirin is nothing like a vitamin, so daily/regular intake obviously seems nuts (effects on liver etc...) aside being prescribed for a "limited" period of time by your doc for some condition or other of course. But would doing the exercise, eating healthy and/or taking the the odd Aspirin/Alka-Seltzer dose once/twice a week/bi-weekly or whatever be in anyway advantageous/disadvantageous? or is it only beneficial maybe say where hereditary/congenital disease is concerned?

When I was 62, it was discovered that I have Essential Thrombocythemia (without the JAK2 component), so I have since been under the care of a hematologist and, with his help, have successfully maintained my platelet count in the normal range. Included in my treatment, which centers upon the use of Hydroxyurea, is the inclusion of a daily aspirin. I was doing this, anyway, from my forties. At some point, I decided to use 325mg aspirin and have been doing so for years. But, after watching your video, I am now thinking I should reduce the dosage to 81mg to be safe. My hematologist agrees with that decision. I carry a small supply of aspirin in my pocket when I am away from home, just in case of any chest pains, and there have been occasions when this was needed. I have no history of heart problems and have never had a heart attack or stroke. Given that I recently turned 70 (October 2022), I'm now wondering whether or not I should continue the aspirin at all. I'm relatively fit and weigh 154 lbs (at 5'-11") and get plenty of walking exercise.

Gary, the video was for the general population who do not have increased risk of thrombosis (clots). I can't give specific medical advice to you but patients with essential thrombocytosis can be at increased risk for both arterial and venous thrombosis and hematologists would look at the International prognostic score of thrombosis (IPSET) to make a decision on how best to manage a person's risk of thrombosis which may include anticoagulation or EC ASA 81 mg daily. Best regards.

Yes it's possible to cause bleeding in males, but we're talking statistics here. It's more common for males to have Hemophilia because the responsible gene is located on the X chromosome which they have only one copy of. If it's defective then it causes the problem. I believe in thorought testing of blood parameters and genetics, then everyone should assess the risks and decide themselves.
