I'm glad these dancers are finally getting to tell their stories. People underestimate the level of work & endurance it takes to maintain that high energy, Hammer-style choreography for not just one song, but possibly dozens night after night, week after week.
Those dancers; their style, their energy made Hammer's performances such a unique experience. Whether a smaller group like the 357 squad or 20 to 30 of them moving FLAWLESSLY in sync...man, what an era!
I never got to see Hammer in person (too young for concerts at the time 😩), but it was magnetic whenever I'd watch the music videos, their performances on Arsenio, Soul Train, & the award shows. Much love to Terrible T & the ladies of 357 & great job on these segments. Keep 'em comin'! 🕺🏿

I think I paid $24 for it back in the day😂 We saw him and all his dancers of course and he also let his artists at the time grace the stage... 357 did their thing with him and gave us their hits (tore it up), B Angie did "Juicy" and his RnB group Special Generation sang... Straight bomb 💣 That whole concert was everything... Hammer head lined and it had everybody in it... It included Heavy D and Boyz, Kool Moe Dee, Queen Latifah, Kid N Play and I want to say Salt N Pepa🤯😮 We all shooketh😂 OG Hip Hop in its rawist form❤... The best female dancers from the late 80’s/early 90’s. No one could touch them, pun intended. The only dancers that rivaled them were the BBD dancers.
I do find it strange dancing opportunities dried up after dancing for ‘Hammer’. I don’t believe that’s by accident. They were even denied dancing for Janet jackson. That had to be someone with power working against them. That’s truly unfortunate. They were an awesome duo❗️❗️❗️

I'm SO GLAD these sistas are getting their recognition - I used to LOVE Oaktown 357, as a teen who used to LOVE dancing (and rapping and singing)! People would compare my bff and I to Terrible T and Sweet LD ..and I remember having an exchange w/ Sweet LD years ago in YTube, and she was SO sweet and relatable!

I'm so glad Oaktown's 357 is being highlighted. Terrible T and Sweet LD were two of the most phenomenal dancers of the late 80s early 90s. Each video showcased their ridiculous energy and immaculate choreography. Hearing her say that she wanted to be a Fly Girl and that they had an opportunity to dance for Janet. Both of those things should have been smooth transitions for a dancer of her caliber. Terrible T... I've always enjoyed your work, Mama. I was that 14 year old girl on Friday night and Saturday morning trying my best to do your dance routines. And, Hontee, that wasn't easy. But, it certainly was fun. Blessings, Lady.

That part about not looking at each other, being crisp, knowing where you are at all times. That's some military stuff for sure. (Recalling Hammer's military background in the Navy) I had flashbacks to drill in basic training when she was describing that level of practice. lol
