Reef tanks are addicting, I have a 125, a 68g and a 25g and kinda want to set up a pico in my room. Would look good on my night stand. I been in the saltwater hobby for 7 years now. Love your videos Tom !
20g is overloaded. I love the colour mix. That is perfect. That is the best hobby of the world. It is hard yes but the gain is just amazing. Thank for this sharing Tom. Is it important to dose if there are no hard coral ?
Great looking tank Tom! My 10 gallon is doing well in terms of coral growth but the hair algae has been a real pain. Tried a gfo reactor but no luck so far after 2 months.
Hey Christopher, it depends, most times I have to cut it right in the tank because I can’t remove the coral. If it’s acro, or in the case of pocillopora, I carefully break it with bone cutters. But all in the tank. If it’s something that’s not attached in the tank and comes out very easily then I can take it out cut it and put it back in. But that’s rare for me. 😊👍🏻
Hey Tom question about 20 gallon ? When you upgraded from 10 gallon to 20 gallon did you glue a shelf onto your original rock ? Did you glue branch rock when there was water already in the tank ? Thanks for any info Gaylene P.S look forward to your videos thanks for all your hard work 🤗
Hey Gaylene, I did add 2 pieces of small shelf rock (Marco rock) so I could add the sps corals. I used IC gel to glue (cyanoacrylate gel) them into place( under water). The branching rock that the two acros are on are free standing. I put some Coral Gum to make a footprint to hold the rock up before I put it in the water.👍🏻
hey man good stuff, I am laughing out loud though at the giant mass of GSP in the middle !! haha that thing must have been a monster, I'm always paranoid that my GSP is going to take over somewhere
Hi Danny, the 10 ml I dose Cal and Alk. I run about 420-450 cal. And around 1250 mag. My alk is around 9 DKH. If you meant 10ml kalkwasser? No. That just gets mixed in with ATO water remember, every tank is different 👍🏻😊
Can we have a video about your fish history from the past 5 years I see a lot of different clownfish over those 5 years really curious about it, Thanks
Hey Reef Clown! I’ll see what I can do. I can tell you that in the 20 gallon I’ve had one for about 2 years now. However, I had a clown pair in the 10 gallon that came before the 20 gallon. When I moved everything into the 20 gallon, I traded my clown fish pair for a new one. The pair was getting really aggressive. Thanks for watching.😊👍🏻
Hey David, I know! Time does fly! Yes I do have a ramp starts at 7:30am -11am then ramps down from 6pm to 9pm. I should have screen shot the whole day😏 there is a small ramp image lower left of the large one in the video pic.
The thought has crossed my mind😃🤪take all that I have going and put it into one new tank😜maybe like 100 gallons. put I can’t right now. Too much going on.
Hey Ty, 😃 the light now is an Ai 16 HD along with the Kessil A80. The old tank (10gallon version) has an Ai prime ( 2016 version) thanks for watching the full vid! 😃👍🏻
Hi Epic, yes it is in the pico reef. I’m not sure there is any fish that should be kept in under 5 gallons from an environmental view. However, it is a nano reef fish and it’s been very healthy. If I see signs of stress, I would remove it. 😊👍🏻
Tanks are looking better than ever!
Thanks xCaspow! 😃👍🏻
Excellent videos!!
Thanks Tipsy! 😊👍🏻
Amazing content, respect the work you put in to edit. I’m a fan of your work!

Hey Jibe, thank you for watching. No so important to dose if you don’t have hard corals. But it would not hurt 😊👍🏻
@@TOMReefer cool.
Great tank.
You do water changes every week and have a doser too? Do you need to dose as well if you water change?
Hi Rudra, thanks! in my experience, yes. Here is why. m.ua-cam.com/video/bnDVkuuVcq4/v-deo.html Also I am now changing every 2 weeks not every week 👍🏻
beautiful. Congrats!
Thanks Dave!! 😃👍🏻
Love your tanks!!!

Thanks IBEW BRO, I appreciate you saying that 😊👍🏻
Great looking tank Tom! My 10 gallon is doing well in terms of coral growth but the hair algae has been a real pain. Tried a gfo reactor but no luck so far after 2 months.
Hey Claggz, try manually removing it and lots of water changes. It may take time. Check your phosphate and nitrate 👍🏻😊good luck
Hey Tom when you cut your Coral do you cut it in the tank or do you take it out of the tank to cut it
Hey Christopher, it depends, most times I have to cut it right in the tank because I can’t remove the coral. If it’s acro, or in the case of pocillopora, I carefully break it with bone cutters. Haha, tell me about it 😃 I’ve been trimming it for years now 😃it’s so green and pretty though 😊thanks for watching😊👍🏻
Hi Tom. If you dose 10ml ka and ca a Day, seems a lot to me for a 20 gallon, even well stocked as it is.. What are your values?
Hi Danny, the 10 ml I dose Cal and Alk. I run about 420-450 cal. And around 1250 mag. My alk is around 9 DKH. If you meant 10ml kalkwasser? No. That just gets mixed in with ATO water remember, every tank is different 👍🏻😊

@@TOMReefer thanks!
Nicely done Mr Reefer👍
Would you ever consider doing a mangrove/macro algae display tank?
Hey Mr. D, I might? 🤔I’d like to really research the mangrove and some cool macro algae first. Something different for me👍🏻😊
Nice
Thanks Miguel!
Is your mandarin trained on frozen or is it living off the copepods your refugium produces?
Hey Josh, it’s Aquacultured and raised on hatchery diet .5mm slow sinking pellets, check it out here. 👍🏻😊m.ua-cam.com/video/fVR-UI_In3I/v-deo.html
Hi Tom! You forgot to mention the clean up crew! 👍
Hey Hugo! 🤔thought I did early on? 😊
Hey Tom!! a lot of changed in 5 years! time flies... The hd prime setting you got is with no ramp??
Hey David, I know! Time does fly! Yes I do have a ramp starts at 7:30am -11am then ramps down from 6pm to 9pm. I should have screen shot the whole day😏 there is a small ramp image lower left of the large one in the video pic.
@@TOMReefer Thank you Tom!!
Tom why don’t you go bigger again that would be awesome!
The thought has crossed my mind😃🤪take all that I have going and put it into one new tank😜maybe like 100 gallons. put I can’t right now. Too much going on.
what light were you using? same ai or something different?
need to learn to comment after watching the full vid lol 😂 nice progress of the 20!
Hey Ty, 😃 the light now is an Ai 16 HD along with the Kessil A80. The old tank (10gallon version) has an Ai prime ( 2016 version) thanks for watching the full vid! 😃👍🏻
Only water changes or did you dose as well
Hi Marco, i dosed along with water change 👍🏻
Is that a Royal Gramma during 0:26 in the pico reef. Can royal grammas live in that tank size? Just curious.
Hi Epic, yes it is in the pico reef. I’m not sure there is any fish that should be kept in under 5 gallons from an environmental view. However, it is a nano reef fish and it’s been very healthy. If I see signs of stress, I would remove it. 😊👍🏻
@@TOMReefer Cool! Loving the tank!
Thanks EG 👍🏻😃
