Cardinals are very peacefull fish, reef safe! Also a wrasse would be a nice addition!!
This video is old AF but I totally would have suggested a goby and pistol shrimp pair. They could have taken the cave and been kind to the corals. They’re super cool to watch work together as well
I’ve always had good experiences with Royal grammas, firefish and I had a yellow watchman goby for several years before I took down my nano. 👍🏼
Tank is looking amazing!! Well done! 👏👌🙌
Cheers Lauren 🙂
Sorry to hear you had to get rid of the tailspot blenny. Tank is looking incredible, nice to see the SPS thriving in the nano. Great update 👌✨
Cheers Jay
@@NanoTankReefer BTW tailspot blennies are super territorial about their caves, when I would rescape my tank and place corals near the blennies home he would start attacking them, all I had to do was move the coral & he would stop biting it.
Would be good to see you on the Friday night stream with Jay and the others, they are doing guess spots this week.
Yeah Ross kindly invited me to join the stream. Unfortunately my Friday nights are always pretty busy. I'll speak with the guys and see if I can maybe free up a specific date
A nice red scooter blenny would go well in there👍🏻 great video as always 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers Steve. Red scooter blenny is very high on the list of considerations
What an AWESOME tank!!
Cheers Johnny!
This is the exact tank I want
A purple fire fish would look really, really good! 😀👍
By the way! what kind of tank is that please?? 😀👍
It's an innovative marine Nuvo 20
All I can say is WOW😱👍
Bangai Cardinals...super cool looking fish..all the best!
I think you should add a Randall shrimp goby to your tank they are stunning and have great personality. Tank is looking incredible
This is a beauty.
Thanks mate. It's come a long way in the last 6 months
Six line wrasse awesome fish
Pygmy Possum Wrasse. I have one and they are the friendliest little guys ever. Totally reef safe.
Naoko Wrasse mate...... stunning and really active
That are awesome!! Recommended tank size is about 80 gallons though 😬
@@NanoTankReefer no way I didn't realise that!! I have had one in my 250 for ages 😬😬🤔
@@ceirongreen1676 I have no doubt it'll be fine in a 250 but I think my nano is a little too small for this guy 🙂
@@NanoTankReefer what about Helfrichi firefish.... really colourful
Now we're talking! I would LOVE one. If I can get my hands on one it'll be a strong contender
Looks wicked
Cheers Marty 🙂
Fire fish would be good for this tank, or maybe if it's just with 2 clowns and the last fish going in... damsels have some stunning colours! Odd choice but would suit maybe, tanks looking stunning! 👍
I do like the sound of a fire fish. I wouldn't even be tempted with a damsel, I've had nothing but aggression from them in the past so it's a no go 😂
I’ve just added two purple dottie backs two my tank and they look amazing, not to expensive either and don’t touch any of my mixed reef, your tank looks fantastic fella, brilliant 👍🏻
Cheers Mick. How are the dottyback's with the other tank mates. I've heard they can be a little aggressive?
@@NanoTankReefer aye up, the dotties get on fine with the other fish and corals the only aggression is to each other when it’s feeding time apart from that they are cool, you can get loads of different colours with dotties as well, they even come a bright yellow, they are lovely fish, hope this helps mate 👍🏻
Ok sweet! I may have a little snoop around my LFS this weekend and see what they have. Cheers mate
Beautiful!!
Thanks 🙂
Your tank is so beautiful ❤
Still can't believe how beautiful your RFA is. It's absolutely magnificient and I think you should leave it in this one. It really is the central piece of this tank in my opinion and worth the hassle 10% of the time.
Fish suggestions: small gobies, I think a Gobiodon okinawae or Gobiosoma evelynae would fit well.
Suggestion: add 2 other pieces of rock towards the left side of the tank in order to re-arrange the scape and coral placement. Might also be a good opportunity to relocate the RFA to a safer place for the other corals.
I've managed to keep the RFA in check by adding some rock rubble near where it's foot is located. So far it's stopped it moving about so much. Hopefully it'll sort the issue and I can keep it in the tank. It would be a real shame to move it
Royal gramma 🤩
Great update. Pipefish, neon blue goby or a biometric pygamy hawk fish. All are great community fish, small and a bit different.
Fantastic suggestions Paul! That's exactly what I was after, something a little out the ordinary... Thanks mate!
@@NanoTankReefer I have all 3 in my Reefer 170 and they are great fish
What pipefish you got bud? I've been looking at the blue-striped pipefish as it seems to be the 'easiest' to keep
Possum wrasse mate
Everyone's loving the possom wrasse. It's definitely going to be considered 😁
A Yasha goby pair would be great in there with a pistol shrimp.
That would be awesome. I think if I were to do that I'd have them in my 250 rather than the nano. I wouldn't want them burrowing under the rock in here
Great looking tank and great video as usual.
Cheers Greg. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel buddy 🙂
@@NanoTankReefer for sure man.
Wicked tank mate 🙌🏻👏🏻
Cheers dude!
A Hippo Tang is perfect. Preferabbly a nice school of 10 or more since the tank does look to be a tad large for this specific species.
I have a little lemon peel I dream love ❤
Hey, i absolutely love the neon goby, I have a mated pair of yellow streaks. They are super fancy, always viewable, easy to care for, not jumpers, reef safe and will clean you when you stick your hand in the tank. Such a joy. (Need to me mated pair or have only one).
What about a lawn mower or algae blenny? I think they look super cool, like a little dinosaur, and help keep the tank clean and don't eat the corals.
Royal gramma!
The offset look is amazing in regards to the structure. I would try/ stick with the hydra idea.
I've tried the hydra but the bracket I have sits too far forward. I'm looking into the HMS mount to see if that will be any better
Nice update vid again Tris. Sorry the blenny did not work out. I am thinking about getting one for my tank. How about a Royal Gramma. As for lighting, if it was me, I would try the other unit 1st. If that does not work I would move the scape. Having the light to one side would do my head in!!
Yeah it's a shame the Blenny didn't stick around. Beautiful fish but I can't have him eating my prized possessions 😂
I'm hoping the light switch will get the job done 🤞
A helfrichi firefish or a decora goby would be awesome for this tank!!
helfrichi firefish would be a dream fish for me in this tank 🙌
@@NanoTankReefer came here to say that helfrichi would look amazing or even a regular purple fire fish 💯
Fantastic videos and the tank looks incredible 😍😍
Thanks Ste 🙂
Purple fire fish are open swimmers, Mandarin if u have the time to nurture copapod population or train it to eat frozen, 6 line wrasse will keep ur pests in check especially if u dont plan on getting more fish
All brilliant suggestions Eddie! I would love a mandarin. I have 1 in my main display and he/she is currently eating pellet food 🙌
Loved this update mate, really well done! I certainly wouldn't be moving anything, looks great as it is and also if you moved the light my OCD couldn't handle it either haha! I love the rock flower nem, shame it's stinging the zoas tho!
Cheers Ross, I'm going to switch out the light today or tomorrow and see how I get on. I've managed to stop the RFA moving so much by adding a little rock where it's foot is located. Hopefully it'll stop it swaying about so much and stinging the corals 🤞
Pygmy possum wrasse, or a randalls goby both are my favorite fish.
Nice update cheers, not sure my OCD would cope with the light off centre 😁 Think I’d move the rock central but at the end of the day it’s how you think it looks. As you say try the light first, if you’re happy stick with it. How about a firefish next?
I am thinking moving the rock or switching out the light are my only options. I don't think I can cope with the light off center
Purple fire fish, helfrichi or royal gramma alllllll day long. Stunning and completely reef safe and perfect for a 20g. Also for gods sake don’t move the light or the scape. The light has to be bang on centre and your rule of thirds is spot on currently. If you can’t raise the light and intensity for better spread and PAR then swap it out for the hydra and you should get more coverage and just dial down the PAR. I’m sure you’ll suss it whatever you choose but don’t mess with my OCD fella!!
Yellow banded possum wrasse would be great!
New subscriber and absolutely love this tank. I would try the hydra and other options before moving the rock structure
Welcome Liam 🙂 thank you for the support! Switching out the light is the option I hope works the best. Moving the rock will be a last resort
I would try to get some koji wada pink nepthea. Great color structure and movement. Keep it w softies.
How about a Royal Gamma, nice flash of colour and reef safe, not too big?... I would try an alternative light, don't move your scape, it's much more visually interesting off centered, tank looking great!
I agree, moving the rock structure will be a last resort. I'm pretty sure a change in light will sort the issue 🤞
Nice tank,I would just move the rock.
That would be by far the easiest solution
Helfrichi Firefish!
Now we're talking!! 🤑🤑
Flamehawk for sure!
What a great choice!
@@NanoTankReefer I have the long nose with my flamehawk and they are both amazing and funny fish.
They look like proper characters
Go for a pygmy hawkfish if you want something with personality. Or if you want something to help with coral pests that’s super peaceful look at Possum Wrasses.
Possum wrasse seems like a very popular choice. I'm also pretty sure my LFS has a really nice one in stock 😁
Purple firefish
If I got a filefish it would have to be a helfrichi firefish 😍
Yellow Watchman goby and pistol shrimp
I had a pair in my old reefer 170... Fascinating to watch the symbiotic relationship!
I suggest 1 Red Head Goby (Elacatinus puncticulatus) or 1 Neon Blue Goby
(Elactinus oceanops). Perfect for a nano
I do really like the look of a neon blue goby!
I highly recommend a yellow watchman goby.
I had a Watchman goby in my old 170 paired with a pistol shrimp. It was such a cool fish... They always look so grumpy 😂
You could get a possum wrasse, they’re amazing looking
They really are. My LFS has a really nice one in stock
@@NanoTankReefer 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ lol
😂😂😂
Circus Zoa's look great 👍 what about a mitras LX7204, Surely more spread than the hydra🤷♂️
I think I'd cook everything in the tank even at 10% 😂 If they did a twin puck LED fixture I'd go Mitras all day long
Tank looks great, firefish and pajama cardinal, both peaceful open swimmers who don't need a lot of swimming space 😊
Nemateleotris helfrichi amazing fish, not super easy to source, but show stopper. Just have a mesh lid.
Cheap alternative Nemateleotris magnifica
I'm think maybe Nemateleotris decora
I think a firefish would be cool or a smaller goby like a jester or hectors goby.
I'd love a firefish, if I were to go that route I'd have to go with a helfrichi. It's a potential candidate
Pink streak wrasse
What light do you use and what colors do you set? I'm trying to get into saltwater hobby and don't quite like the tanks which are all blue lights. Yours look very natural and the fish and corals look very natural colored.
What about putting the light on the side of the tank peninsula style, then that frees up your back chamber more. Personally I'm not a fan of the construction of these tanks. My next nano is going to be either a waterbox 15 or 25 peninsula. The back walls are 100% etched glass and they only have a single return nozzle. I find the dual nozzles are just a pain in the bum and make it hard to get the pump out.
I wouldn't like the idea of the bottom of the mount sitting so deep in the water.
I agree, if I were to make the decision again I would probably go for the Waterbox 25 peninsula myself
I think you should get a six lined wrasse or a yellow wrasse
If you had a lid, FLASHING TILEFISH
Now that's a cool looking fish!!
I have a red scooter blenny and hes fantastic 👌
Royal Gramma basslet
Unless you go for 45 or larger your live stock is going to stay minimal. Move Way from softies and cram 5 gran into that or buy a bigger tank for my mesmerizing live stock. I had pairs of black storms, wyoming whites, movha vincis, snowflakes in one tank just s beautiful designer aquarium i had
Try a hi-fin goby, 100% reef safe and a nice addition to any tank.
That FileFish is probably on of the worst fish when it comes to Reef Safe options. Main diet consist of coral, but there are some aquariums in Japan that managed to swap diet to frozen over many years and testing.
Feed the red sea plus.
I don't really rate it dude, I've used it on and off since it was released and I honestly don't see any improvements in growth or colour
Switch the lights if you like the aquascape so much, or move the rocks if the aquascape to the right isn't the priority..if you do move it, will it open other opportunities? If so, no brainer move it. Your tank, your baby, do what you feel is right
Helfrichi Firefish but you will need a lid.
Bangor Cardinals silver and black ones
That's definitely a fish I'm considering
@@NanoTankReefer there look great that tank 🙌🏻
Isn't that a last resort when they're very hungry? If there was a constant source of algae they'd usually just stick to that.
Catalina Goby, possum wrasse or a pipefish.
Do not move the rock structure . Definitely try to do something with lights. Looks great the way it is
I agree, I tried the hydra 26 at the weekend but I need a new bracket. The one I have sits too far forward 😭
Coral goby or six line wrasse 👍 I have both in my Nano
How does the six line get on with the other fish? I've had one before and he was an absolute D!CK 😂 bullied every fish in the tank including the fish twice its size 😂
@@NanoTankReefer I have one clown fish , coral goby and a six line wrasse and one shrimp everybody seems to get on without issues (13.5 evo)
Well that's good to hear dude. I think I must have had 1 with a chip on his shoulder 😂
I know its a bit boring but I would go with a pajama cardinal.
That's actually a great suggestion mate, that's 1 I've been considering. Not the coolest fish to look at but always hang out in open water which is what I would like
Fire fish or Midas blenny are good fish
Hey very nice setup and thanks for sharing. I see that you don’t use a skimmer, is your success thus far due to low nutrients? How often do you feed the fish? Also, do you feed the corals, and if so, how often? Sorry for all the questions, I currently have a nano with the same water volume and I’m struggling a bit with nutrient intake/outtake and have a cyano outbreak
I feed the fish once per day and I try not to overfeed. Currently there's only 2 small fish in the tank so the bio load is very low. I don't feed the corals as I found all it does is give me a po4 spike
Was the new crab a emerald crab? Just ordered a couple of metallic blue legged crabs, hoping they are reefsafe! Love the movement crabs add to the tank.
I would move the scape to the middle, unless you have a plan for the open sand?
I can see the look you are going for but up to now that space just looks unfinished and empty to me.
Going from your main display I think you could make a scape that is more central look amazing,
Sorry can’t help with the fish question as I’m in the same boat, tried a Royal Gramma but that didn’t work out for me, not sure what the issue was? I feel it could have been he just wasn’t suited to a nano?
Yes, it's an emerald. I have a blue legged hermit crab in my main display. They are fine with all the corals.
I don't have any plans for the open sand as it's part of the look. It's not to everyone's taste but I wanted something completely different to my RSR250. I'm thinking if I nudge the rock 1 or 2 inches to the left I will still have the look I want and also the lighting
Tanaka possum wrasse
YELLOW BANDED POSSUM WRASSE
Funny you should say that, I saw a really nice possom wrasse at my LFS last week
A fire goby maybe?
I say move the rock work OR get a little more rock on the right side even it out
Scooter Blenny
Scooter blenny is very high on the list
@@NanoTankReefer I think it gives character to the bottom of the tank
I’d go for some simple damsels, I find the blue contrasts beautifully
I've had a few damsels in the past and I'm yet to find 1 that isn't aggressive 🙈
@@NanoTankReefer I have a pair of blue torpedo shaped damsels not sure what they’re called was recommended them by a very knowledgeable guy at the LFS and they’re ok in my 300 litre mixed reef
Nice video, what salt are you using? & is your salinity presently running at 1.025, Thanks
I'm using Aquaforest reef salt and the tank is currently 1.025 🙂
@@NanoTankReefer Thanks, Nice set up.
Cheers dude
Royal Gramma
I was looking at 1 in my LFS at the weekend 😍
What is your tank size?
SWISSGUARD BASSLET
Now we're talking! If I had the money and I could find one I would love a swissguard 😍
Hi running an XR 15 over my 20 also, have you done a video on your lighting schedule and intensity ?
Thanks Dan
I haven't but it's a very simple schedule. It's the AB+ schedule running at 38% 🙂
Last question, are you running both your point intensities and schedule intensity at 38% in your tank?
Thanks again ,Dan
I'll check when I get home tonight buddy
I'm sure your busy but if you could let me know if your point intensities and schedule intensity are it would be great . Thanks again,
Sorry dude this completed slipped my mind 🙈 do you have Instagram?
