Wow!!! This is delicious! Just baked one in a larger loaf tin. Baked the whole recipe in one large loaf tin. It baked in the same time frame as you stated. It is moist and flavourful, thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video. I thought my sourdough starter wasn't great because things were good, but not amazing like I've made in the past. Watching this made me think about checking my baking powder. It's 12/24 and it's best by is 2022. Thanks to you I can go back to amazing sourdough goodies.
Made this and it turned out great. I substituted melted coconut oil instead of the vegetable oil and it worked out fine. :) trying this recipe again and adding in some shredded carrots and a dash of cinnamon, it’s in the oven now… we shall see how it turns out 😊
In our house we also eat it this way but if I want to make it into a dessert, I get a pan nice and hot with butter and brown the butter a bit I "fry" the banana bread slice in it and sprinkle with a touch of either brown sugar or cinnamon sugar to caramelize a little and them plate it with ice cream to make an easy dessert 😋 my husband goes nuts for it!
Traditionally crust is any slice with a heel of a loaf and the crumb is any center cut. In many countries you might be asked if you want crust or crumb for bread
The butt? That's new. I thought my dad referred to it as the heel. Could be wrong. I always say the "end piece". Most people just say they don't want it that piece. LOL! Thank you for the video. Need to get bananas and let them ripen and then will try it out. I love banana bread! I'm a little late to finding you but glad I did. :)
Been trying out this recipe and on the first time the bread was great and the rise was great but have been struggling with the rise ever since. What am I doing that would not allow the rise as it did?
Do you know if this freezes well? Wanting to double it! Made this 2 weeks ago and we ate a whole loaf in one sitting. Definitely my go to banana bread recipe
Thank you! Will try it for sure. Just 1 question - would 150 g of sugar work instead of 300? We do not like too much sugar in our baked goods. And do you think I would need to increase any amount of liquid?
Made this recipe and cut the sugar down to 200 grams. Quite tasty and moist but still a bit too sweet for me. Next time I will try 170 grams of sugar. Thanks for the recipe ❤
☘️☘️💚💚🤗🍌🍞👍🏻❤️Did you know today is actually National banana bread day! I just learned about it a few days ago and I celebrated on my channel with a banana bread recipe. Now I’m taking so time to look at other banana bread recipes. This one looks really good. I loved your easy to follow presentation. I’d love to support and learn from each other. 🍌🍞☘️☘️💚💚
That looks great! I find that greasing the pan with soft butter or margarine, and then dusting with flour creates a great nonstick surface. I've never had any trouble getting my loafs out, they just fall out when I tio the pan over :)
I haven't left it out to ferment before, but the idea with quickbreads is that you usually don't want to develop too much gluten, you want them to be tender. Since resting time promotes gluten development, I assume that letting the batter rest and ferment woudn't necessarily improve the banana bread. BUT, I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure how it would turn out!

I try using this recipe for my discard sourdough! Love from Malaysia
Excellent!! I baked this yesterday!!!
Thanks!
Gonna try this recipe today!
It’s in my oven right now thanks
The end pieces are called “ the heel”. Use metal spring clips to hold your parchment to th pan
Thanks!!
Butts! That’s what my grandma called them
The end of a loaf bread is called the "heel" by the way Grant😊..Looks delicious 😋
Or the bum!
I have recently gotten into sourdough and had some ripe bananas. The bread us currently baking in the oven but I am excited to try it!
Made this and it turned out great. I substituted melted coconut oil instead of the vegetable oil and it worked out fine. :) trying this recipe again and adding in some shredded carrots and a dash of cinnamon, it’s in the oven now… we shall see how it turns out 😊
How did the carrots with cinnamon work out? Also have you tried it with olive oil instead of the coconut oil?
Thanks!

A good reason to pull my sourdough discard and use it 🤣
Yes, Ra'ed! Definitely.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Traditionally crust is any slice with a heel of a loaf and the crumb is any center cut. In many countries you might be asked if you want crust or crumb for bread
Will do it now coz I got lots of sourdough discard 😊
Thanks for the recipe...❤️
Awesome!
Can I make cup cakes with this recipe? What do I need to change?
최고입니다~~^^
Hey Grant-great recipe. Can you make an orange cranberry version of sourdough discard sweet bread? 🙌🏻💕
I have a fan assisted oven, do I need to reduce my temperature or is it fine to keep it at the temperature you mention?
The butt? That's new. I thought my dad referred to it as the heel. Could be wrong. I always say the "end piece". Most people just say they don't want it that piece. LOL! Thank you for the video. We call the end piece the heel
Do you know if this freezes well? Wanting to double it!
Made this 2 weeks ago and we ate a whole loaf in one sitting. Definitely my go to banana bread recipe
My discard is whole wheat. I wonder if that would work in this recipe?
Yes, that would work!
Thank you! Will try it for sure. Just 1 question - would 150 g of sugar work instead of 300? We do not like too much sugar in our baked goods. And do you think I would need to increase any amount of liquid?
Give it a try with 150g and you probably won’t need to add any more liquid. It should be a thin enough batter as it is 😊
@@GrantBakes Thank you!

the end of a pan loaf is called the heal
Nice! I've heard heel, butt, and knob.
Grant, I am wanting to decrease the sugar in this recipe..any thoughts?
Why was there excess batter? Is it okay to use all the batter in one loaf pan?
If it fits in your loaf pan it will work 👍🏻
That looks great! I find that greasing the pan with soft butter or margarine, and then dusting with flour creates a great nonstick surface. I've never had any trouble getting my loafs out, they just fall out when I tio the pan over :)
Cool! You said baking soda but was that a mistake? Did you mean baking powder? Thanks!
No, it is baking soda. Also called “bicarbonate of soda.” Baking powder could work too but you would need about twice as much I think.
The heel of the loaf
I'm just confirming. Should we use baking soda, not baking powder?
I dont have discard, but will make this with my starter. What happens if you leave it to ferment a bit? Also, have you tried this with whole wheat?
I haven't left it out to ferment before, but the idea with quickbreads is that you usually don't want to develop too much gluten, you want them to be tender. Since resting time promotes gluten development, I assume that letting the batter rest and ferment woudn't necessarily improve the banana bread. Please add in the recipe the gram amount of sourdough starter I think you said 50 grams??
Done! Yes, it was 50 grams.
Don’t forget to post the recipe in the comments!
It’s in the video description 😊
Lol love how you used a fork to make your banana bread!
Used 50g of brown sugar and 20g of honey instead + 1 cup of chopped walnuts.
Lots of sugar white cancer……
But looks delicious
You lost me with all that oil… YUK
