- I don't know about you, but a delicious, moist, tender vegan roast is essential to a traditional family or holiday meal. We have several wonderful recipes on our website, but this recipe may be the best one yet. It is almost as easy as the other recipes on the website but requires a little extra effort and time. Basically, there is an additional step: we not only bake this roast, but we simmer it in a broth as well. This double prep step creates a tender, moist final outcome worth the extra time. It is a vegan roast turkey to be proud of, the roast that I will be making for my family and friends this holiday season.
Furthermore, one of the greatest virtues of this roast is that it is made ahead of time, freeing up a lot of time on the day of the event. The vegan roast is best when allowed to sit in the fridge for a few hours because it sets the shape and texture. With this in mind, this roast is the perfect solution to a stress-free holiday meal. After all, the roast is usually the most stressful part of the meal, and now you know the roast is done. The vegan roast keeps moisture, texture, and flavor when reheated.

Ooh is it that time of year again? I'm keeping it simple this year. Just 4 dishes. That's it. Might try to make tofu inspired by a central american chicken recipe. We'll see how it goes.
Well God bless and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Sounds amazing, EliGrey57! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Perfect for thanksgiving! Thank you so much for what you do, Ani! You are amazing!

You look so much like your beautiful mom !! Thank you for the recipe, can’t wait to try it .
Is there a substitute for the mushroom powder? What else could possibly work ?
Awww... Thank you so much for your sweet comment! You can skip the mushroom powder, but you may need to add a little extra vital wheat gluten when you knead it.
This looks amazing! What is the best way to reheat it the next day?
Great question! We like to reheat it in the oven. Transfer the roast into a baking pan and cover with foil. Bake for 350F for 30 minutes.
Sounds great with addition of mushroom powder.i am not a complete vegan anymore but i still do a lot of vegan foods but not vegan meat.but i do still enjoy some good vegan meat when given to me like vegan slices in a sandwich.but i will have this on my list.if it werent for the health issues,i would still be 100% vegan and i likewise sedn some vegans get very ill in this pandemic, but its okay i guess if done right .but your foods look so good,i almost want to be 100% vegan again
Hey Ani! I’m going to try this recipe out, I went on the website and I couldn’t see the amounts listed. Maybe I’m missing it!
Hi Lawrence! If you click on the "Jump to Recipe" button at the top of this blog post, it will scroll down to the recipe! chefani.com/vegan-roast/
Your recipe used powdered garlic, onion, herbs. Could you use fresh garlic onion and herbs? Or would that effect consistency ?
Great question! It may effect the consistency. I think the garlic and herbs should work, but onions will definitely change the consistency.
So it’s basically boiled bread? I’m gluten free so I’m thinking I could use oat flour or other flour. I’ll test it before thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Tracy! If you are interested in a gluten free roast, here is my favorite recipe: chefani.com/gluten-free-holiday-roast-plant-based-vegan/
@@ChefAni thanks! I will definitely try that one! 😁
Can you advise what to use in place of the vital wheat gluten for us that are gluten free?
Thank you so much for watching. I would highly recommend this gluten-free roast recipe: chefani.com/gluten-free-holiday-roast-plant-based-vegan/
YES! I've missed my Chef Ani videos, I feel like this year I've missed a lot of your videos. Hope you're doing good and love seeing you around here. Keep cookin'!
When you put it in the fridge overnight do you put it with the pot and broth or dry?
Great question! It is best to keep it in the broth! Thank you so much for your kind comment.
Thanks Ani. Looks like a great recipe. Is there an alternative instead of using the tofu?
I have not tried replacing the tofu in this recipe, but we have a roast recipe that requires less tofu and you could substitute with dried canned cannellini beans: chefani.com/vegan-holiday-roast/
@@ChefAni thank you for answering. I might experiment with the beans ❤️
Looks like real meat. Thanks! 🦃🦃🦃
Thank you so much for watching! Happy Holidays!
