“Sakurai and his Team” did such a tremendous job!
Think she’s a very unique and interesting character. There’s nothing like her in smash and I think they also did an amazing job at representing ARMS. Good way to start off the pack!
you could say the same of the other DLC fighter pass characters (plant is not part of the fighters pass) sakurai said in the Byleth gameplay presentation he wanted the DLC fighters to have gameplay variations or gimmicks to the normal gameplay, joker has the Arsene timed power-up, hero has the magic system, terry has the combo inputs and byleth has the weapon change depending on the direction, the only one that doesn't seem to have a gameplay gimmick is banjo.

Even Piranha Plant has the “Area of Affect” Poison, something I don’t think we have seen before. Plus, it was the FTW character everybody just laughed about. I don’t recall seeing anybody salty about it being in the game.
Btw, can we stop rejecting Piranha Plant when talking about DLC, because even though Plant wasn’t part of the Fighters Pass, it is still obtained via DLC

Well, Plant isn’t always considered a DLC because I think he was originally meant to be part of the launch game. Its the only DLC with a Palutena guidance. Also was Free for a while.

PikaLink91 i don’t see a problem with plant not being a person, smash bros is considered as a celebration of gaming, despite just being a minor enemy, the piranha plant is a classic mario character, just like the goomba or koopa trooper. although it is a wtf character, it in no way “ruins the picture”. and like Bagel God said, there are several characters that aren’t people.

i've said before, i was intially taken aback about Min Min being in Smash because i didn't see how she could work in Smash but now that i've seen some gameplay, i think she's a great start to Season 2
Her playstyle does not feel natural to me when playing online, but playing her casually is a lot of fun

James since she was the first smash spirit becoming a playable fighter this gives so much hope to some spirits who could later be playable fighters.
Pretty sure that’s the Arms character’s gameplay overall, god I wish Ribbon Girl took Min Min’s place, but hey sakurai makes surprises.

I think Spring Stadium could’ve been so much more memorable if they took the audience members wearing costumes based on the participants thing from ARMS

I'm surprised they didn't have the other arms fighters in the background like they did for various characters in the other DLC stages.
George Marionerd probably would’ve been if it weren’t for the virus maybe? Just making one background character takes a lot of time so I’d imagine having a handful of cameo’s like past DLC stages might have delayed FP6 longer, so they decided to just put images of other arms fighters in the background to save time. That’s my theory anyway

I think Min Min is a great choice for the 2nd fighter pass. Arms is a fun game and has amazing soundtrack plus the characters design are really creative. Plus her Inclusion breaks the spirit rule so anyone is game now.
DLC spirits are still screwed, though.

I haven’t bought the 2nd fighters pass yet. With everything going on this year we’ll be lucky to see the third character come out by December 2020
Im predicting we get CP7 in September, and CP8 in December if were lucky. But thats what I think will happen 🤷♂️
7th DLC will probably be announced in August, will be released in October,
8th DLC will probably be announced in December and will be released on January 2021 (hopefully it doesn't take long, but who knows, the next DLC can show up until November)
I think we will definitely see the next fighter by the end of the this year, and if we’re lucky ( I don’t think this will happen) but maybe a tease of at least the franchise the 3rd fighter is gonna be from that is what I think
I havent purchased anything, my game is collecting dust in a córner.
Last fighter pass each character came out every 2 months starting when the game came out. But we know this fighter pass that all fighters will be released by 2022 so we can assume a character every four months and Min Min came out four months after Byleth. So the math states Min Min- June, 7th DLC- October, 8th DLC- February, 9th DLC- June, 10th DLC- October, 11th DLC- February
I think she is, she's a lovable character, she's fun to use, she's representing a criminally underrated NINTENDO game causing it to be on the spotlight and she has an interesting gimmick to her gameplay which sakurai said it was the highlight of the DLC newcomers in the byleth presentation.
16:30 IMO that is not really a fair discussion, it would seem that people have forgotten that smash used to make characters popular, not the other way around, before the first super smash bros I had no idea who captain falcon and ness were, melee made put fire emblem on the western radar, and brawl caused a resurgence of the kid ikarus series enough to have a full new game, so try to possition min min on a chart about popularity or legacy is not really fair.
The obvious answer is YES ! she's so unique and ARMS definitely deserves the love. Keep up the awesome work you guys do !

It's kinda sad that yea Sonic does have some bad moveset. He feels fast and I happy for some changes for him to attack less than in a ball form. They should incorporate more Sonic Battle moveset into Sonic.

I feel like starting off with a 3rd party character would’ve helped convince people to buy the pass and save this for the very middle of the pack. But regardless I’m just happy ARMS got a rep.

My opinion its amazing that a rep that did not make it to base game due to bad timing now they are able add arms rep in smash ultimate as dlc.
I'd say yes.
She's by far the most unorthodox & unique character in Smash. Aerial smash attacks, jab, tilts, fair, bair & smashes tied to the B button as well as A, and she's practically a 100% faithful recreation of how Min Min plays in ARMS. That and I mained Min Min in ARMS so yeah, there's some inherent bias in there. She's definitely unique & weird compared to others but I feel that not only makes her interesting and fun once you realize how she works, but she also has some "kinky" combos w/ her Ram Ram nair & Megawatt nair as well as aerials.
Min Min is MAD fun fun, I found a 4th main (as unhealthy as that actually is) and I hope the rest of the DLC can capture some of that same unorthodox magic as almost every DLC character thus far.
I think Min Min was a surprisingly hype character, I was not hyped at all initially, but when they finally showed her off it was so awesome to see how different she is, she’s already one of my favourites in the whole game and I’m not at all a zoner player, and I still love playing her.

When byleth was announced. I was hoping she had like a down B weapon switching between all three weapons kinda like a devil may cry type of style.
Minmin is solid, but has a lot of problems. Really amazing character choice though, my favorite DLC so far
I think Elma could be a cool stance change type character, where you can swap between swords and guns which will have very different range
Now that I think about it, they probably didn't choose Ribbon Ring because it wouldn't highlight an ARMS character quite as well. Min-Min would have to be able to punch through those blocks, and so would all the other smash characters, meanwhile the constant restructuring of the stage and the potential hazards or items might actually discourage Min-Min's ranged attacks in favor of projectiles or close range.
I've found the ramram to be very useful in neutral game. I find it useful to jump and throw out ramram to cover jump, then throw out the dragon to catch any sort of approach from below, stuffing any basic approaches. I only pull out megawatt if I'm looking for that kill move. Even then, I'd much rather get them off stage and lazer them with good dragon spacing.
I feel like there will be one more 1st party. It will either be personally rex or bandana dee.

Elma's going to come with Overdrive!
To those who don't know what Overdrive is, it's a power that pushes one's body past the limits it's currently capable of.
In X, once you activate it, all of your arts become WAY faster so long as you can consistently do damage.
In Xenoblade X and 2 the cooldown on all of your arts gets extremely shortened so you can spam moves.
In Smash I imagine they'll translate to using a wide variety of moves instead of just one or two, so making sure not to have stale moves is the way to play her and keep overdrive active.
Imagine Shulk but you can keep Monado Speed infinitely depending on how good you are and how frequently you change up what moves you're using.
I'm just sitting here waiting for Reimu to get confirmed. Let's get out Indie Queen! Plus she would bring soooooo much good music! I even wager that Reimu would get more songs than even Terry did, especially considering how chill ZUN is with copyright for Touhou.
I know it's not gonna happen, but I still want a Smash original character. I'd even be happy if they'd turn Tabuu into a fighter.
No spirits or assist trophies as fighters was a fan rule because it was obvious it was the case. They decided the first wave of DLC fighters before the game came out, so if they knew a character would be playable, why would they include a spirit or an assist trophy of him/her? So it wasn't like a character couldn't be playable because they were already a spirit, but the other way around; a character couldn't be a spirit because they were going to be a playable character later on. That's why we had spirits of pretty much every major Mario enemy except for Piranha Plant. Even Petey Piranha evolved from the Nipper Plant spirit, which was extremely weird, until you realized that Piranha Plant was going to be a fighter.
I think it was always obvious this was the case. And it was always obvious that it's no longer the case with the second wave, because they decided these characters way after the game came out. I'm seriously disappointed how people don't really understand why this was a fan rule and act like it was just debunked with Min Min. It wasn't, it was actually confirmed even more.
The cool thing about Rex is that I could see him being able to switch between Pyra & Mythra on the fly but also have a gauge or some kind of indication that show an increase in affinity by using his arts/attacks that will represent when you can use [SPOILER]
Pneuma for a short period of time like Arsene. It’ll be just like the game. (Update) This might actually be a bad idea now that I think of it, for spoiler reasons.
To me, an Arms fighter would’ve made more sense if it was revealed before the game launched when Arms had more relevancy. I know Arms was in development when Ultimate was, but still. However, this addition is still pretty great though, plus Arms music is in Smash

Honestly I wanted to hear someone bring up their thoughts on how her reveal was built up. Like how we got her series in advance before hearing about the character.
I thought this was a neat idea and can be expanded on in the future for full series or companies, or even from a console (I see this one the least likely unless it's first party or from the 90s at the latest).
Teasing the company I kinda get but besides Pokemon is there really any other series that could have a decent discussion on who would be added, most would really only have 1 or 2 viable options, heck even quite a lot of companies really only have 1-2 characters that would make sense to tease
I know a lot of people would complain but I’d be fine if they decide to focus on Nintendo characters in this fighter pass.
I think Spring Stadium is one of the better DLC stages, actually. Those springboards do a lot for a creative player. Any time you're blocking an attack, just jump out of shield and you'll launch both of you into the air. It also gives sluggish characters new vertical combo/kill options they didn't have before.
I don't know how I feel about Min Min as a fighter yet. Still getting used to her.
For Spring Stadium as a stage, as someone getting into Smash competitively, i think i love it. it's like a mix between Pokemon Stadium and Smashville, very nice and even neutral stage--with fantastic music to boot haha.
And on spirits/assists being characters, no it's not impossible. I don't think they outright DECONFIRM characters, I just feel it makes them so much more unlikely. Min Min is kind of a miracle y'know? It doesn't mean all our fan favorite characters are now absolutely coming to the game.
That said, i do agree Shantae would just be amazing all around, gameplay and music and personality.

The spirits rule was pretty dumb. There is a Super Sonic spirit and technically Super Sonic is playable. THEN, there is Shadow who has a spirit is also an assist trophy.
I was super hyped about the ARMS fighter before the release, but was underwhelmed after because I was already so familiar with the source game
For the wonder wing trumping question. I believe any type of grab can trump it. Banjo-kazooie will just be pulled out of their attack. so if someone is used to the timing, they can use it for free damage

I know this probably won't happen but I would want Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat left a huge impact within video game history and would complete the line of classic arcade fighting games in Smash.
A reveal trailer for this guy can involve Ryu fighting Terry. Ryu wins and next you see a spear almost hit Ryu then Scorpion emerges surrounded by flames.
The problem is that Mortal Kombat is banned in Japan and Australia.
@@X2011racer which sucks, most fans find the bans controversial and since Nintendo had a hand picking these upcoming characters, Scorpion has a very minimal chance. Only good point to including Scorpion is that no blood or body ripping.

@@IcyDiamond I would be happy for any character with a flexible moveset without extravagant gimmicks that totally dictate how they're played. I don't like having to wait on Arsene or MP regeneration, I don't like having a move that expires after a number of uses like Wonderwing, I don't mind playing Terry (Though his moveset lacks flexibility and GO meter is basically somewhere between Lucario Aura and KO Punch mechanics, both are comeback mechanics, but are essentially needed to patch up weaknesses in the character.) Byleth is all-in on the design of slow zoning power character with no flexibility to adapt. Min Min is, again, all-in on the all-the-eggs-in-one-basket design. I care most about the gameplay on a competitive level. I'd be thrilled if Doomguy got in, but I'm not bothered if not. (Though the entire series has been on Nintendo consoles since the beginning.) I would love to see a representative from Resident Evil, too. I like Retro character revivals. I like honoring freshly minted giants like Splatoon.
@@WarningStrangerDanger I dunno about your claim with Terry. He's able to cancel some of his neutral attacks into specials, perform weak and strong variations of his specials, and even has two side specials. Doesn't all of that fall under flexibility?
If we do get Crash Bandicoot, if he *needs* a gimmick, perhaps he could have crates as an obstacle?
He could definitely come with Boulder Dash as a stage, considering we haven't had a scrolling stage as DLC yet, and one side would always be covered, so throwing off the side would be discouraged.

Every time I hear about Byleth having different weapons based on direction I just think of Inkling who has that already. Not in aerials but their Smash attacks use different weapons. There are other characters that do this like Isabelle and Mega Man but I guess the gimmick for Byleth is that it's a character that uses other character weapons than they did in their original game.
Yes but honestly they kind of didn’t go far enough because Byleth can pretty much use everything in Three Houses gauntlets, magic, all the weapons etc and when you look at their moves they use the sword more than the other weapons so for fans who are both FE and Smash it’s kinda disappointing 😂.
I tend to stick mainly with the Ram ram because it really is good at punishing aggressive characters. The two dragon arm I only if they tend to keep a distance. The mega watt will use sometimes.. more if they suck or poor reaction.
Gunna hold off buying this pack til we see more of who’s in it. If Rex/Pyra or some other Xenoblade rep don’t get added that’s a massive slight against Monolith when the previous excuse not longer holds water and I won’t be supporting that
Looks like a great and unique DLC pack kickoff. Range and dmg are great against heavy weights. Now I only need Shadow and I'd consider buying the entire 2nd challenger pack.
I like to utilize her kicks more (Because they are quite fast and good) and use the Arms mostly to pressure distance when I want a kill or nice edge guard. I feel thats how most use her, but just putting my 2 cents in.
I wouldn’t say she’s the best start, mainly because an ARMs character isn’t all that exciting due to being a rep for a new IP not many people have played, but she’s at least a promising start. Since due to how unique and complex her moveset and playstyle is, what with being able to swap multiple arms and used them together in one attack, it just goes to show that even after the first Fighter’s Pass, Sakurai and co. haven’t lost their steam in making the DLC characters truly stand out and be worth paying for.
Not only that, but her inclusion basically debunked the “spirits deconfirm characters” fanrule, and with it also comes the (possible) chance of my boy Rex being added. What with a XC2 rep being another Switch game that wasn’t added to the base roster due to it being revealed too late in Ultimate’s development, alongside ARMS. And look where ARMS is now.
So overall, while Min Min hasn’t made me jump at the chance of buying FP2, unlike Joker with the first one, she at least gives a bright future for what might get down the line.

I find you two saying that people aren't using the Ram Ram when that is BY FAR my preferred second arm. It is so fast and helps keep your opponents off you so well.

I have a gut feeling Nintendo might focus more on first-party reps for Vol. 2, and have 1 or 2 major third-party reps. For first-party, I’d be okay characters like Rex from Xenoblade, definitely Porky from Earthbound, Bandana Dee from Kirby, or a Pokémon rep. For third party, I’m personally hoping for Crash Bandicoot, but that’s about it.

I haven't seen anyone who doesn't main the ram ram, I've seen a few megawatts, but they're real rare with the double dragon being an occasional hazard.
I'd really like Shantae too, but if we only get one indie rep and it's not Reimu that's just daylight robbery. Touhou is the big indie franchise and she's better known than several characters in the game already, and I really hope we see her respond to our prayers.
I think Byleth’s Up B is comparable if not better than Wonder Wing due to it making him a threat off stage and allowing him to literally recover off of other characters.

If I'm not mistaken they originally did not have the Villager in Smash U have a darker complexion costume. Now in Ultimate both male and female have one, hell even Pokemon Trainer has a bit of shade to both the male and female variants in 2 of the costumes.

As a character Min Min is great, I like the fact that she doesn't really have B specials, instead you use B to control her left arm while A controls her right arm, and B down switches the Arms which are like B moves (Something we have never seen in Smash bros yet). At least we finally got a really unique character, I think so far she is the best newcomer in terms of new Characters and movesets, Still K. Rool is the best because he finally got in. At least it is better than having every new character getting a counter move or being a Swordfighter. So yeah she's pretty cool and a nice addition.
I think Min Min as character in general (not specifically in smash) is really really cool, but I hate how she can lock down a lot of characters if she manages to throw them of the ledge and camp then to death, is such and unfair match for more than the half of the roster.
While I agreee she have glaring weaknesses (bad recovery, minimal meleee combat, bad aerials) she have a significant advantaje over a lot of characters. It reminds me of how bad if felt when Bayonneta had the combo that could kill and you just stand there and watch her do her thing (before the nerfs in smash 4).
Best advise for playing min min in smash?....
Play arms, really.
Many players forget that you can launch both your fists, move and jump with your tilt inputs. Also, when you launch two punches it doesn't have to be the same input. For instance you can throw a left smash attack but follow it with a quicker tilt left punch.
Also, master her inputs in the air, cuz you can gain some lift with her air smashes and with aerial tilts you can fast fall to throw off your opponents timing.
It kinda depends, the last fighters pass started off with a bang, Joker was a massively popular character to start with, while Arms is okay and all, it’s not anything earth shattering or ground breaking, not saying she was a bad choice but maybe she wasn’t the right choice to start off with, but she is a very unique character, I have a bit of trouble playing her but she’s still cool, so I guess it depends wether you were looking for , ether you wanted a household name or just a fun character, me personally I’m split, I think she deserves to be in and such, but they probably should’ve led with a bigger character, feel free to disagree with me though
Min Min demonstrates perfectly why I feel Byleth would have been better as the start to Fighters Pass 1 rather than the end of it. A character with limited people who would really look forward to it, but more of an initial introduction rather than closing what we already went through. Imagine if Joker did his little stunt as the second DLC character (barring Plant) and we closed off Fighter's Pass 1 with Terry instead.
It'd have started strong and kept raising momentum right up until the very end.

I think it's pretty awesome that the DLC appeals to so many people with such wide-ranging tastes. For example, my fighter ranking would go:
1. Terry
2. Byleth
3. Min-Min
4. Hero
5. Banjo
6. Joker
And I would definitely be overjoyed to see Geno show up as playable. Even better? GOLDEN SUN. COME ON SAKURAI!!!
Ahem, anyways I'm very happy with the direction Smash is going, although I do worry about the base roster becoming boring compared to the DLC fighters

In my own personal opinion I was more interested in Min Min being added than Joker. Granted that isn’t saying much sense I wasn’t excited about him at all and like Arms I heard of Persona before but didn’t know who Joker was. I think the only reason Min Min has me intrigued is because it’s a Nintendo franchise that had no playable character in game yet and I use to have an Arms character as one of my most wanted characters. That being said I haven’t brought fighters pass 2 yet because I’m waiting to see if they add a character that I want.

I would say personally Min Min is better then Byleth, close but a little over Hero, close but a little under Banjo, and under Joker and Terry.
I’ve actually played DQXI before he was even rumored for smash and I’m very glad to see dragon quest represented. But I’m a bit let down by the lack of music, character cameos, and spirits. The costumes are nice though. My issues are mostly on square though I suppose.
Also I think spring stadium was chosen because Ribbion Ring and DNA lab would heavily clash with Min Min as a character. (Also to be honest they make a lot of safe stage picks. Looking at you Kirby and DK.)
I hope for either Sora, Dante, Crash, Spyro, Shantae, Geno, Tails, Dr. Eggman, Lloyd Irving, Elma, Travis Touchdown, 2B, Tifa LockHeart, and Sephiroth to be in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
I still wish they'd give us content the game lacks rather than content the game has plenty of.
We have plenty of characters. What we're lacking is solid single player content. Other than World of Light and Classic Mode there isn't much there. It'd be great if they brought back Event Mode and Target Test in their proper forms.
If this is the Ultimate Smash Bros, why are all these classic game modes not a part of it?
I want them to bring back adventure mode.
